It still amazes me how larger eateries cannot imagine let alone execute a fantastic smashed burger experience. I'm pleased to say Total Cow is the antithesis to these pretenders. Outstanding produce, locally sourced and cooked to perfection. I had the total cow double, bacon jam, truffle mayo, with extra bacon and pickles. It was the destroyer of other burgers and gets 5 stars Thanks to Santo for a warm welcome and beautifully cooked food. This is worth a diversion.

Total Cow... Totally Awesome!! Coming from a total food SNOB, this is a clever company, reflecting on and reacting to customer reviews to make the best burger they can. My first time eating here and an astonishing education it was. I had a double patty Total Cow Smash burger and chips, which includes - Bun from the Pudding Stop (400m from the restaurant) - excellent - Truffle Mayonnaise - Smash burger - 70% British Beef 30% 50 day aged fat is the ratio for these patties, with the supplier holding a royal warrant. If it's good enough for Charles it's good enough for me. (There I was expecting a frozen patty - totally blown away) - American Cheese - Chopped Onions and Pickle - Bacon Jam - BOSH what a mouthwatering condiment, GAMECHANGING - Bun. By far the best I have ever eaten and would definitely recommend!

Just had a Friday lunchtime treat! Wow top draw food. Beautiful burger. Hot salty fries. Ice cold coke in a glass bottle. £10 lunchtime deal. That is the best £10 I have spent all year. If you have not been go. If you have gone go again. Top job five stars.

YOU HAVE TO GO HERE! Heard about this today and sad it wasn’t sooner! Absolutely INCREDIBLE!. My wife and I had two double burgers a drink and both fries and came to £36, a reasonable price for this economy! This was the most phenomenal burger I’ve ever had in this country. Proper American style - hoping that’s a compliment!! The chips were seasoned to perfection and real crispy! None of this limp nonsense. It’s such a little cute space - It’s got 6 seats, half inside half outside. We were going to stay and enjoy the vibe but it started to rain. Cant wait to go through their entire menu. Also ! Drove 15 mins home and the food was still hot. The bun held up and wasn’t soggy and gross like other places that do similar things. It was delicious and fresh. Everything was still bloody perfect. Wifey has gluten intolerance and they accommodate well to that!

Tastes like they pulled a switcheroo on the ingredients. The burger patty tasted much nicer when they first opened.

When my wife put a little piece of poached salmon in front of me tonight, I just had to break out! Bought a double cheese burger and chips from Total Cow Burger, maybe not so cheap at £16, but was really excellent 👌

This is the best burger I ever had in my entire life. The quality of the patty is outstanding and the truffle mayo takes it to another level. They are working on the sitting area till then you can just take your burger to the wine bar opposite and enjoy it with a glass of wine. 🍷

Wow. What can I say that hasn’t already been said. Forget what you’ve tried else where these burgers are packed with flavour and freshness. I opted for the Total Cow and the truffle mayo was incredible - a really good mix of flavours makes this for me, a proper burger. Also, don’t forget to make sure you go for a double. Seating - they’re in the process of having extra seating on the upper levels of the building, but there’s a couple of bar stools at the front of the shop The owner was super friendly and went the extra mile with my order. My friend and I had a great meal - thank you!

We went here after a tourist trip to the St Albans Park run after reading the reviews it did not disappoint. Great food great atmosphere and Craig was a hero. Very welcoming, looking forward to a run one day in the future together to earn those burgers. From Matt and Luke!!

First timers yesterday, what can I say, IT WAS BLOODY AMAZING!! I tried the "hot cow" burger, everything about it was spot on, it wasn't too hot, it was just right, enjoyed every bite of it We had a portion of normal fries to share, me personally, I'm not a french fry person but these was were great The atmosphere in the shop was great, the owner/chef was very cheerful and happy I will DEFINITELY be going back there

Total Cow are the Gem of Redbourn. Their burgers are simply spectacular. Their total cow burger with truffle mayo is the business. You can tell all their ingredients are fresh and high quality and this is why we keep coming back. In some respect they’ve ruined other burgers! You can tell the passion for the perfect burger is there, they have a great selection of different burgers and their chips are supreme. Highly recommend!!!

Another perfect Total Cow burger from this great little takeaway. I’ve also tried their Total Mac and it was good but the truffle mayo and bacon jam Total Cow is simply the best. I never order the burger in restaurants these days, it has spoiled me for all other burgers.

Went here this evening, have had many burgers and the total cowboy burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had good wagyu beef. Great service and friendly staff. Would come again

The best burger I’ve had for a very long time. They’ve got everything right, the quality of meat, amount of sauce/toppings and price point. The chips were great and generous portion sizes too. I really have nothing negative to say. I’m glad they’re local and got my fingers crossed they get to open upstairs to add some seatings. Good luck!

Just ate an amazing total cow burger! Juicy and succulent - the way a burger should be. Fries were delicious, hot and fresh. Staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely place.

Really disappointed after reading the reviews. Local to us so have been looking forward to trying the burgers for a while. Total Mac was not a particularly tasty burger and I certainly wouldn't pay £7 again for one. The chips were actually not good at all, undercooked flacid and flavourless. Ordered 3 portions at £4 a each and actually binned two of them. Only ate the other one because we were hungry. Toltally underwhelmed sorry 😔

I found this place via Deliveroo. Unfortunately being a fussy git I wasn’t able to modify my burger via the Deliveroo app so I decided to visit instead. Perhaps a modify ingredients option can be added to the app soon? Location is very small, 3 or 4 chairs allow you to dine in if you wish but it was quite cold and cramped. The food itself was pukka, I couldn’t fault it. The burgers were juicy with a great taste and the beef dripping chips were the icing on the cake. I will definitely visit here again and I highly recommended you try them. Just to note, by visiting in person instead of using Deliveroo, I saved £12 in total.

The cow’s sacrifice was not in vain, gorgeous burgers. The vegetarian in our group was even sneaking the beef dripping chips, and he thoroughly enjoyed his mushroom burger. Food was a little pricey for my taste, but what isn’t these days? Go eat here.

Takeaway 2 burgers and chips and OMG so good! Total cow burger with truffle such a tasty one. Chips just looked like French fries but also so tasty - crispy, perfectly seasoned. Same price as Five Guys but 100% better tasting.
