Topogigio in East Dorset

Lovely little restaurant which serves tasty dishes at a reasonable price. Very good portion size. Staff always friendly and attentive.

The food and service is great. The best thing on the menu is the combo, especially for those who don't know whether they want pizza or pasta, you can have both, absolutely delicious. Very speedy service, maybe a bit too speedy, however, great if you want to eat and then get to the theatre on time. The place has a real buzz to it.

This is our favourite restaurant because the food is exquisite, the staff are so welcoming and friendly, the ambience is so warm and inviting and no other restaurant we have been to has been as nice this one. We will always return here.

Well this is going to be a long honest review. Good point : Friendly attentive customer service with smiles. Steak cooked to perfection but warm Bad points : 😬 21st birthday meal for 8. 3 generations. Mussels in sauce pre frozen not at all fresh with chunk of not nice bread in a watery sauce. Deep fried mushrooms in a poorly dressed plated with salad starters. Overcooked tasteless pasta. What I would guess as tinned carrots and frozen beans with small cubed potatoes in rosemary and oil. Served in a silver platter and barely warm. Asked for peppercorn sauce. Given a tub of watery sauce inedible 🤢. Not so great pizza. Presentation of food bad. Taste of food awful apart from steak. Wine Sauvignon cheaply bought in charged £26 a bottle not good and as a family run business can get some great wines at good prices. Rose wine £22 echo falls served ! Cheap bought in. Waiter asked why pasta not eaten and told why. Took one meal off bill. Didn’t come to get a free meal. Would much rather have had a lovely meal. The place is extremely tired and needs a Gordon Ramsey makeover especially in the kitchen. Definitely would not go there again unless they change their chefs. Went over the road after to Kings head ordered drinks and dessert there. Bill at Topogigio approx £280 with no dessert. 10% service charge automatically added. Could be lovely if they listen to reviews and act on it.

Very attentive service by Susie, they were Prepared to adapt my meal to suit my preferences despite it being a busy Saturday evening. Comprehensive menu for all tastes and budgets. Authentic atmosphere and really tasty food prepared in a traditional style. We will be back soon.

Very disappointing,, food very average, the vegetables were tinned or frozen &!tasteless. The waiter argued with us when I mentioned the vegetables were not fresh! One doesn’t get fresh carrots that tiny shape! The service was very bad, they tried to rush us, the evening was very stressful, hurrying us, trying to clear the glasses. Quite rude when leaving. So looking forward to the evening, as was recommended. Would never go back!

Yet again another great experience at this marvellous restaurant. My wife and I both went for the Elizabethan Pizza and we both said was the nicest we had ever had. Our friends had a pizza and a vongole which were also excellent. Can’t wait for my next visit

Good ambience, nice bruschetti but quite horrible cannelloni. Grated cheese & spinach that was dry, hard and tasteless despite being nuked in the microwave. Smothered in boiling tinned sauce. Waiter was furious when I told him I could not eat it, just demanded we pay the bill. One restaurant not to return to.

We have been frequenting Topogigio's for many, many years & our last visit was extremely disappointing, though the staff were very good & professional, as usual. When it comes to the food, admittedly the Minestrone soup was very nice but expensive at £9. We both had pizza's, I think the pizza bases either came frozen from the cash & carry, or perhaps even the supermarket Iceland. They were pre formed & completely round, hard & crisp, not a nice handmade rustic base. We also ordered a mixed salad, which was poor & uninteresting & very basic to say the least, also it was swimming in vinaigrette. Topogigio's you will have to do a lot better, if you want to keep your regular local customers, as I'm afraid we won't be coming back, anytime soon.

First-time visitor to this typical Italian style eatery in the centre of town - which was packed with locals who were obviously regular customers. Attentive waiting staff. Pizzas arrived quickly, but they were fairly average. The tiramasu was good. Unlikely to recommend to family or friends.

Arrived without booking to find a packed restaurant but they seated five of us within ten minutes. Service was quick and efficient. Servings were generous. Friendly and attentive staff. The only drawback it is a little cramped.

I am a regular at Topogigios and nothing is too much trouble for them. They really make you feel welcome and the food is authentic Italian and delicious. Nino, Christina and Massimo really do go the extra mile for their customers. I would recommend both their lunch and dinner as they cater for all appetites and preferences.

Ordered linguini and meatballs and got spaghetti. The meeballs tasted rancid and hard and the whole thing was disappointing. I village not dine there again.

We went as a party of 4 on a Friday night at 7.15 pm so an early reservation. The restaurant was very busy when we turned up and there was a lovely atmosphere. Our only complaint was that we felt very rushed, we were asked 5 times if we were ready to order within 15 minutes of arriving, we were quite clearly looking at the menu and catching up with our friends. The food was great and the service quick, too quick. We had had mains, desserts and coffees within 1.15 hours. We assumed there was a second sitting hence the rush but after leaving we went for a drink somewhere else and when walking back at 10 it was closed. In summary, the food was lovely and reasonable but we felt rushed.

Maybe it was because it is Christmas and they were extremely busy. Customer service was lacking. Attention was given to the larger parties. We were mainly ignored once we had ordered. When our food arrived we were not offered pepper, Parmesan and had to ask for mayonnaise (which was literally plonked on the table in the bottle). My meal was lovely but my husband was disappointed with the salmon which was served in the foil bag it was cooked in - it left his plate swimming in the cooking juices. No waiter asked how our meal was until he cleared the plates. We have been to this restaurant in the past and always had very good service, hence the disappointment.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Worst meal ever .Rubbish salad and pizza . Crammed in trying to get as many covers through as possible. Never going there again.

Love this restaurant. The staff are so welcoming and the food choice is great. On this occasion we eat before going to a show at the Tivoli, goodness how busy they were. Very often we go for lunch before going on to a talk at the Allendale Centre, the lunch deal is so generous. Tasty food, nicely presented and of course the desserts, which are extra, are so yummy you cannot resist them. Do wish it was closer.

Went here with friends, the food was very good and felt like an authentic Italian restaurant. Only criticism was the gents toilet which was a little past it’s best. Would definitely recommend this place though had a superb meal.

We took my mother-in-law here for lunch. The food was first class and the staff were friendly, polite and attentive without being overly fussy which enhanced the experience. This was our second visit and the 3rd is booked.

Lunch menu is amazing for the price, and the food is filling and really delicious. The staff are lovely and the fact that the restaurant was really busy as soon as it opened (with several regular customers) says it all. Can't recommend it enough.

The restaurant and food was lovely. The table was a disgrace I mentioned it to a member of staff who agreed it was not acceptable and was going to pass it on to the manager but there was no resolution and one acknowledged my grievance.

I'm sorry to go against so many reviews, but has anyone been to an Italian restaurant before?I ordered seared beef as a starter and it was mostly ice cold the bit of it that wasn't was still frozen.I has fillet steak (butterfly) Diane it wasn't butterflied , the Diane (mushroom, red wine and mustard) was inedible, it was so acidic it was really unplesent.I've given it 1 out 5 for the staff who were brilliant, they were both friendly, attentive and efficient.Shame the food had was awful. We just can't wait until the lockdown is lifted and to go back to Topogigio and it's going to be the first place we go to for lunch!! We always have the same which is a pizza and the house wine - delicious. We love walking passed the kitchen when we arrive and saying hello to the guys who will be making our lunch. As an Italian I tell you that it is the best! I felt like home, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is typically Italian. Friendly and nice staff! If you want to "taste" our culture I absolutely recommend this restaurant!

The first place we made sure we visited after lockdown. Never had a bad meal here. Lovely atmosphere and always very welcoming. Has the character that the big chain Italian restaurants are lacking. Good for vegetarians as well as meat eaters.

Went for the lunch deal, £4.50 for a small pizza and salad.Whilst I acknowledge this is good value, I would be aghast if I had paid full price for the pizza and baffled by the pizza reviews on here.The dough is clearly brought in and not fresh, and the ingredients were cheap and processed. It felt like eating a pizza from a kebab shop or worse than Pizza Hut. Edible but not authentic Italian cooking.

Had a fabulous lunch here while shopping in Wimborne on Saturday. There is a special set price lunch menu of £4.50 which is a smaller portion of pasta or pizza with a side salad with a wide choice in line with their main menu, or if super hungry, you can order a larger portion. Service was very quick and attentive which we wanted but you can equally linger if you want to. The Covid-19 guidelines are in place and the guests were spread around the restaurant and the large patio doors at the front were open so we felt safe. Thoroughly recommend for a safe, quick and good value lunch followed by a look round the lovely town of Wimborne!

Visited here with my family after 5 years and the atmosphere and food is spectacular. Loved the family environment and food 100%. Definitely recommend it for a family visit or a date night.

Having visited in the past we thought it would be nice to revisit for family meal Staff are friendly but clearly rushed off their feet which is reflected in the poor level of service. Garlic bread with cheese starter was just a slice of bread with a bit of cheese melted on top, it arrived within seconds of ordering it and was very bland tasting and not overly warm. Main meal arrived under cooked and had to go back, second attempt wasn’t great. Dessert appeared to be defrosted from freezer making the cream watery which was vey disappointing. Very expensive for the quality of food, level of service and the tables are so close together you are literally sat on top of each other. Sadly we won’t be visiting again anytime soon.

Wife and I went there Tuesday evening (3/3) our anniversary. We ordered starters which arrived within minutes, ok so far, but as I just finished mine, my wife was just taking her last mouthful when along came the main course. After desserts our evening was over after a hour and a half. Obviously, as they seemed quite busy, they wanted our table for more customers. Shame, because the food we had was very good, but we were there for a night out and not just to pop in for a quick meal.

What a lovely place this is from the outset, first impressions from the outside was how lovely the place looked and then from going in the restaurant has the true Italian ambience. Service 1st class, friendly and attentive staff and the food was wonderful with good size portions. The only slight negative would be that once we had finished the starters, the main came out straight away so would had liked a bit of a gap but hey next time we can ask for a gap would 100% recommend this place

Having made a booking for six earlier in the day, we turned up for our dinner only for the chef to immediately turn around from the kitchen and shout "can't you see on the sign... we are closed!" With a confirmed booking, we were a bit bemused and when mentioned this was rudely dismissed with an added "we don't have space anyway" before the chef turned his back to us. When the waitress came along and confirmed that we had made a booking and he was mistaken, we took one look at his thunderous face as we were waiting for a table to be ready and decided this was not somewhere we wanted to eat. A real shame, but we went to Rimjhim instead and received a much friendlier welcome.

We were staying at Gordon House, a lovely little B&B; around the corner (from this restaurant) in West Borough. We chose Topogigio because 1. It was an Italian restaurant and we like Italina food 2. It had good reviews on TA and 3. It was just 3 mins stroll from our B&B.; Can't fault it.

We were very happy with the beautifully cooked carbonara with a bottle of good house white. This is a really nice, traditional Italian, good, efficient and prompt service and a nice unpretentious atmosphere. Its a shame so many restaurants have had a trendy make over, this one has stayed with cosy, real Italian style and it is all the better for it. Fantastically good value special lunch menu. We will definitely return next time we are in Wimborne, thank you for a very good lunch.

We quite often come here, and this year as 8 months pregnant on our Anniversary we thought this would be suitable to celebrate our 3rd wedding Anniversary.

Took my partner to this restaurant for her Birthday we were welcomed and the service was excellent throughout the meal. The food was superb and the wine reasonably priced. Overall it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time

We booked a table for 7:30, we turned up at 7:25 and there were already people standing I. The entrance waiting for tables they had pre-booked. At 7:35 I (very politely) asked how long it would take to seat us and was told “it only just gone 7:30, you can always go somewhere else”. So we did. We won’t be back. I would recommend the Tickled Pig, Renouf’s or any of the very nice pubs in the area.

We had a group of 12 of us on a Monday night for a birthday celebration.

I was given plenty of recommendations for this restaurant so was really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, we had starters but one family member was waiting right up until we had all finished ours and the mains where coming out, we where then left to cut open some of our meals to find out who’s was who, because the waiter didn’t know what it was, we had to send one meal back as it was completely wrong, we where then given a bottle of wine that we had to send back as it hadn’t been opened for us, we also had to ask for condiments on the table as we where not offered them, the coke was repeatedly flat after we had asked a few times for fresh ones, it was just a shambles, service was really not very good, food was ok not amazing. I appreciate it was busy and we were a big party 12 of us but still get more staff in when your as busy as that.

We have been to this place a few times, but went on a Friday night about 7pm not busy at all but are main problem was we was rushed from start to finish we was there 40 mins. We got our drinks & she took our order we both had prawn & avocado for starter very nice, as soon as she took it away are mains were in front of us no break what so ever in between. I had ham & pineapple very nice indeed my husband had diavolo he said it was very bland no chilli what so ever in it so he was disappointed. So if you want a quick meal then this is the place to go but if you wanna take your time I suggest you tell the waiter you would like a break in between your meals.

Great service by experienced staff.The steaks are expensive, but exceptional. A lovely atmosphere in this place and you're welcomed like old friends. Its very busy & quite crowded - exactly as an italian restaurant should be.

Went on a Sunday night and they were offering two pizza/pasta main courses for the price of one which was a bonus! The place was full and had a great atmosphere. Service very efficient, typical Italian menu - nothing fancy but good quality.

This place has a special place in my husband's heart so I took my Mum here for dinner. I have visited multiple times over the past 5 years and never been disappointed with a single thing.
