Lovely museum, always happy to visit. Unfortunately it has been closed for some time as National Museums Liverpool is refusing to pay its employees a cost of living bonus (as they "can't afford it")... It's great museum is free but maybe a small fee can start being implemented? Or an annual ticket. We want the museum back and it also needs to be modernised ❤️

Great museum across several floors and free to enter. There is an aquarium and planetarium which you can book a slot for free at the desk on ground floor. There is a lot of replicas in the museum especially on the animal/dinosaur floor but family still always have a lovely time. There is also a cafe and gift shop on ground floor.

Been here first time but glad I made it. now, it's a great museum. There's so much to look at and brilliant place to take kids with you or made a family tour because there's a lot for kids. Keep them busy for a couple of hours. I like the aquarium area, butterflies, Egyptian mummy section and many more. BTW just one lift for big massive building and couple of floors not enough. Stair case was full busy. It's free entry then why not enjoy. Superb location just in front of train station.

We would have loved to visit but it was closed due to strikes, how unbelievably selfish it is to strike at a non profit charity. The building is very impressive from the outside and great inside from what we have heard, it would be terrible for it to close down due to these selfish individuals.

Good range of exhibits and the layout of the building makes it easy to navigate. You can walk around it all in an hour if you're just looking at the items, but you could also spend 3 or 4 hours if you read the information and go the planetarium. Pay and display parking outside is limited and the closest Q park can be 2.70 an hour depending on the time of day.

Awesome, so much to see and do in one place. The highlights are without a doubt the mummy room and the return of the gods display (there is a small charge for the return of the gods display but it's worth every penny). But these are just personal choices There is so much more to see. From an educational perspective these places are priceless. There is no charge to enter but they do ask for a small donation if you can although there is no pressure.

Amazing, we paid for the planetarium which was awesome (maybe too relaxing🤣) we paid to see the war of the gods exhibition too, but that was far too much money for the 20 minutes it took to walk around, it really wasn't worth the 16 for 2 adults, at least the kids were free! But all in all its an amazing place, we spent most of the day here, and the kids loved it. I'd happily visit again. Ps the scones were amazing!.

It was okay to walk around for an hour or two, but three things prevented me to donate like I usually do on museums: - We went in the middle of the week to avoid the crowd, and still the place was swarmed with screaming and running children. No adults had a hold on them. No peace allowed anywhere, and they left bags and litter of snacks everywhere... There should be stricter rules inforced for schools outings. - There was plastic plants and leaves in aquariums and terrariums, absolutely revolting for the animals that already are in way too tiny space for their wellbeing - Paid for the planetarium, and as amazing as our host was, the show was very cheap, pixelated with old very ugly 3D renders. Such a shame :( I don't recommend the place. It also was dusty everywhere, so not so fun to sneeze so much.... I'm sorry staff :( I don't like leaving bad reviews on museums. But I needed to share my experience.

Great place for families with kids to visit, or anyone who is interested in - or as a rainy day program. Unfortunately (UNFORTUNATELY!!!) very old fashioned place, with the same collections… last time I visited was around 8 years ago, and found in the same position. Extremely expensive coffee shop (restaurant) and another expensive souvenir shop for all the visitors. - even the souvenir shop’s goods are the same. Clean, not spotless but clean place. The stuffed animals behind the glass very dusty, they look extremely worn out. They’ve got now and again temporary extensions, too

Conveniently located in Liverpool city centre with just a 10min walk away from Lime St and Williamson Square and nearby parking available. Love the Seasonal exhibitions they have here such as the ancient Gods and Dr Who. Fun for all the family with 5 floors worth of sights to explore such as Dinosaurs, Aquarium, Planetarium, Bug House & Ancient Egypt. Would recommend buying tickets in advance if going on a weekend but you can also buy them at the desk with staff on hand to help with any issues. On site café on ground floor and good accessibility with stairs as well as lifts available to view the various sights as it can get a bit crammed on weekends when there's loads of families here with kids. Would also recommend the gift shop which sells a good range of souvenirs and toys for kids as well as confectionery and jigsaws.
