The service was terrible and the food was terrible. Not sure what else to say? Sorry wlas staff had obviously not had any training so may not be their fault.

Short measure on pints, food good but only if you like fish. Had to make a right fuss to get discount. Sometimes it's great sometimes it's not. Attention to detail requires attention and a smile wouldn't go a miss.

Our family have been here a few times now. Felt the venue deserved a review. They will cater for Vegan requests, if asked. There is a big sign by entrance door concerning food allergies inviting patrons to make staff aware. We had a great Christmas meal, and our most recent feast was beer battered cod or haddock, with chips and mushy peas. Very tasty indeed. We also had starters including Garlic Bread, salt and pepper squid, with sweet chilli sauce (yummy) and fried Halloumi. They do daily specials, I would say the menu is orientated towards fish, rather than meat. Thats because its locally sourced. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, but not overly expensive either. Staff are friendly too. Good views and has a carpark with disabled bays. Its free to patrons only and you must give the restaurant the registration.

Nice spot Lovely staff but incredibly expensive for what you get - Beanburger on dry bun with chips and a tiny pot of coleslaw for £15. The racist boomers at the next table moaning about immigrants didn’t help either.

Its actually shocking that this campsite promises so much, offers so little and gets away with it.Firstly, the cost is £34 per night. Compared to a site nearby, offering beautifully manicured lawns, heated bathrooms, wifi throughout and a 24 hour warden on site, all with a similar cost, I thought Tollesbury would offer similar options. On their ukcampsite listing Tollesbury offers the following- Wifi- Disabled friendly- Sea views.- Recycling optionsNone of this is true.- Wifi is only provided at the restaurant which is nowhere near the campsite- The campsite is not disabled friendly. The toilets and showers are a very long walk away, in the restaurant and can only be accessed by climbing several stairs. The rules of the campsite also specify that cars should not be parked on the site, only in the carpark next door, again, a long walk- The campsite isnt near the sea, it isnt even near water. It has a view across a boat/car park and some ugly solar panels.- The campsite doesnt offer recycling bins as advertised, the only bin on the campsite is for ash. The nearest bins are in the boat/car park which is a very long walk awayIn addition to what is listed above the campsite also does not have hot water or washing up facilities. It has 1 water tap which the entire site uses to wash their dishes, their teeth and themselves. It's just a field, with 1 tap, some electric pitches, overlooking solar panels and access to toilets/showers in a nearby restaurant. You need to walk though customers eating in the restaurant to get to the toilets and showersOne of the main issues I have with this campsite is the toilet/shower facilities. Not only are they too far to walk to and accessed only by stairs, they are used by too many people. I purposely chose this campsite knowing it was small, only 15 pitches so that the risk of spread of coronavirus is minimal. Instead the showers and toilets are used by the campsite, the boats in the boat yard, the restaurant and all the boats in the marina. The site is also difficult to find, there are no signs and we had to ask several people before we knew where to go for the harbour master and campsite and toilets/showersWe couldn't find a water/chemical waste area. I dread to know where it all goesI have rang the owners several times to discuss my issues and have left a few voicemails, but they have not responded.

Slightly unfairly, the HJarbour View Restaurant does get reviewed with the campsite. I will review seperately. We visited in August during the Covid-19 debacle. The staff were very friendly and set up well to cope with the rules on Covid. We sat outside as the weather was good and we had our Dog with us (Dog's not allowed inside the restaurant but, are welcome outside)The menu is predominantly seafood based but, had something for all.The waitress took our order swiftly and the food appeared very quickly. it looked cracking and it tasted delicious. I had Haddock & Chips - the Haddock was really fresh and was nice chunky white flakes of fish and not greasy at all. The batter was really crispy and light and again, not greasy. My better half had the Crab languini which she said was divine and she ate the lot (and there was a fair portion!).I had a chocolate brownie and Ice cream (other half was full up!) and without doubt, it was the best brownie ever. Usually brownies are stodgy, gooey and hard going. This one was so light with a nice crispy base and home made ice cream. I cannot recommend the Harbour View restaurant highyl enough.

Years ago I kept my boat in Tollesbury marina and I thought I'd take a friend to see the place and possibly have a drink in the bar. We found ourselves looking at the menu which seemed very appealing and decided to have lunch; I'm very glad we did ! The food was excellent and served rapidly despite a large party also eating in the restaurant. The food is largely, but not exclusively, seafood and offers quite a wide range of choice. Our starters and main courses were so good we've already arranged with friends to take them there !The view over the harbour is attractive and peaceful , there's plenty of parking at the rear of the building and also the opportunity to do a coastal walk before or after the meal. Highly recommended and very good value.

If we had the time or the energy then yeah we would schlep up to London and go to the theatre plus dinner etc but lets face it toddlers are exhausting! This place is amazing for some real restaurant feel, nice ambience, friendly staff and most importantly fabulous tasty food (inc fishy fishy options, nom nom nom!). With that lovely tinkle of rigging-on-masts coming from the adjacent marina if you close your eyes and think warm thoughts you could almost be in the mediterranean. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for a lovely night off. See you soon.

Positives:-- Camp site doesn’t have that many pitches so not too busy- Guy who checked us in was very helpful- Harbour restaurant food does takeaway and food was very tastyImprovement areas:-- Camp site is too expensive for the facilities provided. It is £30 a night to stay here on weekends peak season. We have stayed in much better conditions for £15 a night with stunning views.- Facilities need to be modernised and basics provided (eg one toilet didn’t even have a toilet brush!)- Toilets are quite a walk from the camp site- Needs to think about more dog friendly options as those with dogs can’t eat indoors in the restaurant (not good if it rains), can’t use swimming pool or the small beach. I do understand why dogs can’t go in the swimming pool and beach but if you are paying £30 a night there needs to be other options for dogs.

Just back from a lovely camping weekend. Not knowing rural Essex this place was a lovely surprise. Magical landscape of marshes and boats. Peaceful flat field that allowed a campfire. EHU. Yes, it's a bit of a trek to the facilities but it was a small hardship.... had a good cooked breakfast on the Saturday morning in the restaurant. Staff member on was really friendly. Will be back

I can only suggest that you phone in advance to check 1: they are open (do not take any notice of their opening hours) 2; they haven't run out of all beer and 3; they are doing food. It started so well again but hasn't taken long to go back to utter chaos. On two weekends they run out completely of all draft beer and larger (one being the bank holiday weekend). They seem unable to cater for more than five people and are so inconsistent when it comes to having to book or not. They only do a summer and winter menu which to say the least is limited in choice so you would expect it to be both consistent in size and quality which it most definitely is not. sometimes they close early sometimes they don't open at all and with a captive clientele of all the boats in the marina it is the most ludicrous situation. Please get your acts together and get organised or just don't bother !

We visited on Saturday 9th September for drinks and lunch with a very dear friend. Having enjoyed a lunch last summer when under a different management we decided to return. We sat outside in the sunshine which was lovely. My husband asked for menus and when we had selected I went to the bar to order. You can imagine how surprised I was when told if I hadn't booked I wouldn't be able to have food as 2 parties were due in! I asked the member of staff to check with the chef as to how long a wait it would be. She didn't seem keen to ask stating as I hadn't booked it wouldn't be possible. When I insisted she reluctantly went to ask returning to say definitely no way we could have food for 3 guests. Unbelievable!!! A bar and restaurant unable to deal with more than 2 parties. It was the sheer disregard for customers which I found most disconcerting especially as I believe this to be a new venture. My husband and I travelled from Witham but our friend was a local and likely to use the restaurant (as before) on a very regular basis. My advice ..... be very careful how you treat your customers as they are your bread and butter. Train your staff to speak to customers in a way that makes them feel welcome not a nuisance for choosing to spend money with you. There are so many places out there to eat so customers have choices...... the choice not to return.

The campsite is just as desired on the marina website ( we thought great!) and the pool really made it a family friendly setting. The staff were all very helpful and would highly recommend. Good walks to be had around the marina and nature reserves and lovely local area to investigate. It was amazing to explore the salt marshes on our sit on kayak! We also enjoyed two dinners and a breakfast here over this weekend. The food portions were hearty and the food cooked and presented excellently. There was a good choice on the menu to suit children too. The service was good- helpful, efficient and friendly. Couldn't fault it! Thank you : )

We have just spent the most wonderful weekend camping at this beautiful place. Lovely field with electric hook-ups. Bit of a trek to the loos/showers and key system not always working. Showers a bit haphazard but all very clean. Bistro just lovely but not really catering for campers. Doesn't open til 12 noon, closes at 3pm not open again til 6.30pm. Would love breakfast option but understand there might not be enough takers. Bar/Restaurant heaving on Friday /Saturday nights. Very buzzy.Sunday lunch looked beautiful. Wonderful lunch on Monday just before we left. Very inventive seafood platter with delicious potted crab, smoked mackerel pate. Great smoked salmon, cold tasteless prawns?? Fab bread, oils, tartare sauce. Beautiful fish finger sandwiches and scrummy chips. The most wonderful time had by adults, children alike. Beautiful spot. Schhhhh. Don't let anyone else know about this gem on the river Blackwater. Essex-can you believe?

This is the restaurant for the marina and visiting boats, of which I am one. But also it is a delightful place situated beautifully for stunning walks around the nature reserve, village and marshes (Tollesbury Wick), and is often visited, by walkers, locals and others also seeking good food properly prepared.

Sadly disappointed. Wanted a couple of pots of whelks but advised we’re still frozen. As were the prawns & cockles. It was 1pm.Chise to have a bag to go. While waiting asked for 2 oysters to enjoy at the small stand up table. Oysters were opened and prepared and offered to me on nothing. I asked if there was a plate and after waiting the oysters were again offered this time on top of a square metal pot of ice. They were delicious. I also noticed how other customers had the same frozen issues with one electing to have crab/fish sticks. The sticks were picked up by hand and bagged as the gent serving did not seem to know another way.
