Tokyo Choice in Watford

Anyone know if this restaurant is still open or closed down? looks closed from the outside and there's no delivery through apps but deliveroo still claims you can collect orders

I visited this restaurant today, but it’s closed for maintenance. We are looking forward to the next visit!!!

When ordering a take away as a walk in, was told a 15 minute wait. It was over an hour until I actually got the food. 3 uber guys got the food before me. People in the restaurant also waiting for their food. Think the outgoing and want for this store is too much for it to handle. Its a shame because the food is lovely. If you're planning to get this take out, order through uber eats. Even then, it will be a wait. 😥

Overall I’m not impressed, I ordered cucumber roll set and when I ate one it tasted like hand sanitizer and the next couple tasted like they had been made in a bath of cleaning chemicals, when I said that they talk this I just got a “no no “ they are made fresh”, and then heard the chef sarcastically say “ well he’s the customer so he knows best “ which I ignored and just carried on eating my hand sanitizer tasting food, sorry but I will not be coming back here again

Got takeaway; delicious salmon and avocado sushi, prawn and vegetable tempura and chicken soba noodles. The best sushi I've had in Watford. Highly recommend

Disastrous experience. From the moment we entered the place, I ought to have left. We were not shown to our table. We eventually ordered at the counter after determining that there was table service. The sushi was abysmal. The rice used was of inferior quality but that was not the worse of it. I think my cat would have turned the tuna sashimi down. The worst if it was how the entire morsel of sushi turned into an untenable mess due to the “thickness “ of the Nori that was used. I did speak to the chef & he said that it was rubbery due to its thickness when I asked why it was so rubbery & unchewablw? This place gives sushi a bad name. The proprietor walked in just as we were about to pay & any person serving us would have asked if we had enjoyed the food. None of that, just took our money & left us to it. Lesson learnt. Btw, the Google review stand inviting reviews didn’t work. No wonder.

Waited over an hour so ended up ordering elsewhere. Rang the restaurant and they were waiting on a driver.

The food was appalling! The driver seems to have dropped it and scraped it back in the container just before delivery. He said the bag had broken? Regardless, the food tasted awful. I will never order from you again. Sad to say after I have been a regular and faithful customer.

Takeaway - They now have new owners and the food no longer tastes good quality. The people are nice but makes no difference when food is no good. We waited 20-25 mins for the food and were asked several times is it regular or large for your order I’m not sure why I had to clarify so many times but that’s no biggie. The problem I had was paying £32 (for 2 people) for less than average food. Won’t be ordering again.

The grilled mackerel set meal and Japanese curry fried pork cutlet rice are both delicious and the portions are sufficient. In particular, the tosa tofu is the best I have ever eaten in the UK. 😋🙏🏻🙏🏻

Let me tell you this...the best Sushi ive had in my life. And the chef isn't even Japanese. He is Indian. Trust me....you will NOT be disappointed. Have a chat with them when you drop by. The story is pretty interesting.

Wanted to end my restful day with pipping hot and spicy ramen noodles and found one in my neighbourhood and happily walked to it. On arrival, the restaurant was neat and quiet, lots of take away orders and counter staff was busy multitasking. I asked to eat in as I wanted to eat the noodles piping hot..the counter staff was welcoming and asked me have a seat and gave me the menu, which was filled with over 100 dishes to choose from, I won't go deep into that, i found ramen noodles at the end of the menu and was filled with excitement. As the counter staff was busy, I went up to her and placed my order as a show of support, as they are family run, there is authenticity to how things are prepared but that also means slow service, I didn't mind that at all. I ordered for spicy salmon rolls, veg fried cutlets (cannot recall the Japanese name). Both were freshly prepared and tasted lovely. I ordered an Asahi and it came when it came, but the most awaited dish of the evening was Ramen noodles in miso soup with a promise of chilli oil. First impressions, it was not piping hot, the noodles were not slippery and sticky as I had anticipated and the seasoning was not upto mark. I ate some as I thought it may improve in tast3, I had to ask for the chili oil and I got a generous amount of homemade chilli oil, sadly it did not improve the taste. I got up and asked for a takeaway box and zhared my view of the ramen noodles with counter staff, they defended their recipe and fairly so, I didn't mind that, it showed passion. I finished my beer and left with packed ramen noodle soup and left over salmon rolls and veg cutlet. Conclusion, I will be back for salmon rolls but won't order the ramen noodles again, maybe I'll try the fried noodles or rice

Love this place. Been coming here a few years now. Friendly service and my daughter loves the salmon sushi rolls and the prawns.

Sushis were delicious with good portion and they were definitely not stingy on pickle ginger and wasabi, which was a plus point for us! Quick serving as well.

Bad experience. Ramen came with the meat and noodles in a bowl, a sperate pot of chilly stuff (I ordered hot) and the Miso soup in a seperate container. I added the container of hot to the noodles. When I came to open the miso, taking the tape off it started poring out of the bottom of the container, all over my clothes and the floor. Bad packaging. Shame

Order arrived 45 mins after originally advised time and was missing an essential item.

We waited 1.45 hour, we called twice and after a lot of excuses they told us there were no drivers. The food is very low quality and in our case cold as well! Terrible

Agedashi tofu arrives again with no dashi sauce and so uncooked. Had to cook again and add things to it. What is the point? That will be the last time I order from them after being disappointed too many times… food was delivered on time for once, but not worth taking any chances anymore

It was 40 mins late.. called up restaurant twice to check and they kept saying 5 mins.

The prawn ramen I ordered was not ramen. The egg was well done (refer to picture). Not sure what type of noodles were used but they were short and. The miso soup was different. This was the first time I couldn't finish ramen. Was sadly disappointed.

Not bad food, but they seem to be very tight when it comes to soy sauce, wasabi or ginger. We used to order from them, ordering £70-90 pretty much every Saturday with the family. But always short ( just to avoid say nothing ) of soy or wasabi. They knew we used to be regular and we asked them more than twice if it would be possible to get more (or any) soy sauce or wasabi in the orders ( we’re talking 2 little sachets of soy sauce for about 50-70 pieces of sushi) and they said we had to pay £2 each. We paid once and ever since never again we ordered from them. We talked very good of them to neighbours and friends. They used to order from them but for the same reason, they stop ordering to them. I believe it’s not reason enough to loose regular costumers for a stupid reason as this but I guess that’s what they chose.

Giving a 3 star for the food as the salmon was Burnt. But other then the happy with the rest

Food was cold when it arrived, driver was going round in circles trying to deliver to the hotel which delayed delivery hence the food was cold when it arrived. Lid wasn't closed properly so the sauce from the dish went into the salad and all over the bottom of the bag

Sushi was warm, bento was cold. Miso soup was missing.

I ordered beef miso ramen. The beef itself was alright but a little sweet. The egg was well cooked and soft but overall if it was bland and while the portion of noodles was generous it was hard to eat because it was so bland. Paid £1.10 extra for it to be spicy but received a small pot of sauce a third the size of a shot glass which was like adding sweet coffee grounds rather than a spicy chilli sauce

Katsu sauce and vegetables were of good quality and very nice. Rice was good too. The main event - Katsu chicken was not so great, one of the 3 pieces of katsu was just the breadcrumb batter without any chicken meat, the other 2 pieces were good. With one piece not being good and the price being paid, feels like I missed out.

Avoid, charged £21 for Nigiri box and didn't send it. When I called to complain they said they'll send it next time I order and refused to refund or send replacement.

Did not enjoy this bowl of ramen at all. Broth was not nearly hot enough (bowl was cold and noodles were hot), had no discernible flavour until soy and chili oil (50p) were added. Delivery guy kept leaving door open on a cold day, (which I repeatedly closed) and staff said nothing. Lots of red flags when I walked in but wanted hot soup to warm up. A miserable experience, but perhaps my expectations were too high for £10.

I have been ordering regularly from Tokyo Choice and mostly been happy with the food. However, there is always something missing from the order. Sauce for Tonkatsu pork, agedashi sauce, etc… I don’t care that much about the missing chop sticks and certainly don’t want plastic cutlery but to miss the essential ingredients to a dish is really annoying. I shouldn’t need to remind them every time. Poor attention to detail and the food is hit and miss mostly. On a good day, the food and everything is good.

I was really excited when Tokyo choice opened. To have something local that could rival wagamamas. Unfortunately I’ve been disappointed by the quality of the food all 3 times I’ve been hoping to like it

The restaurant missed the miso soup from my order otherwise the food is good.

I'm extremely unhappy not only did it take 2 hours to received order part of it that should have been hit was cold and it's been wasted as it was for 2 and the other had to go out before it arrived as it was so late

Placed order via uber, items missing so called restaurant spoke with a staff member whom was not only super unprofessional but she had no desire to resolve the issue. I advised I wasnhappy with missing item or quality of food, she initially pretended as though she couldn't understand followed by pretending the phone connection was bad and kept disconnecting the call..I called x4 times requested to speak with manager was told management was busy and not there, I advised I wanted ro return the food to which she replied no but would make sure my order was better the next time (Honestly the staff memebers service was embarrassingly poor) I requested a full refund from uber, I'd advise to spend your money elsewhere and give this place a wide birth...

Loved the crab roll, bought another for takeaway. Recommended for a casual lunch or dinner out.

Inedible ramen, fried chicken, a 1/4 inch layer of grease above the broth, soggy noodles and an old hard boiled egg. Makes me feel ill just thinking about it! The restaurant was nothing but red flags from the moment I walked in but I thought I’d give it a try, safe to say I have many regrets.

I was a little skeptical at first. The building isn’t the greatest and the store wasn’t open on time. However, it was absolutely worth the wait. The food was well presented and in a space that usually charges extortionate prices for sub-par food, this restaurant provides value for money. The portions were above expectation, and the fish was fresh. I can honestly say, I haven’t had sushi this good in the UK ever. Would defiantly go back and it’s shame I didn’t find sooner. I’ve wasted so much money on the poor imitations in the area.

superb food! best japanese so far. must try in Watford! Genkoostu-age is what the first photo is. deep fried chicken joint marinated in japanese style. you have to get that! bento box is fantastic! best of all is the service. you have to find Derek! he is the best man there recommending best stuff. his smile will make your day.

Amazing Japanese food. My favourite is the chicken teriyaki jyu and the wakame salad.

The food is good and consistent. However, sometimes we get two sets of chopsticks, sometimes not. Tonkatsu sauce is often missing… attention to detail please?

This place is the bomb.....just as good(if not better) than the London's ones.....very tasty,truly authentic......and excellent value....decent portions......hope they do very well.....

Really nice food. We ordered for take away. The waiting time was not very long, for 3 dishes we've been waiting around 10-15 min. We had a picnic in the park, the trip took us 15-20 min, when we arrived the food was still very hot and delicious. Very nice serving and packing. Definitely we'll try again next time.

The food delivered was not what I have ordered. I have ordered two Roll Box sets, but received 1x Roll Box set and one different, half size smaller box.
