Tillie Bar And Bistro in South Lanarkshire

We decided on a last minute lunch so phoned ahead to book a table but on arrival we were the only diners, one other couple were enjoying an afternoon drink. The menu was confusing as there was only sandwiches, burgers and desserts then a set menu. I decided on a starter and main and my wife and daughter were going for main and dessert from the set menu. We all ordered steak pie. While waiting on my starter the waitress informed me that my steak pie would be a smaller portion than the other two as I was ordering from the set menu. So when the two desserts were ordered they would be charged at full price as would the larger steak pies. Very confusing as there are no prices on menu for mains and no mention of this in advance of ordering. If I hadn't ordered a starter we would have received three large steak pies at full price. We explained we were all ordering from set menu then proceeded to wonder how small our meals would be. Luckily it was a needless worry as the food and portions were all excellent. My mushroom starter was amazing, maybe big it up on the menu too. Described as creamy mushrooms on toast didn't do it justice, it was a mouth watering, tasty pile of creamy mushrooms on beautiful garlic bread. The steak pies were really tasty, I could have lucked the plate, the gravy was so good. Vegetables were very well cooked, the chips, like the plate, were roasting hot and perfectly cooked, the mash spot on and the meat melted in the mouth. The pastry was slightly well fired for my taste but nice and soft in the middle. I was encouraged to order dessert after the quality of the first two courses and both the biscoff cheesecake and sticky toffee were really, really good. For the quality of food the price is fantastic value. Although empty the atmosphere was good, service was first class and the cleanliness and decor of the toilets really stood out. Overall an excellent first visit but please please sort out the menu so it's clear what is on offer. We'll be back.

Wow, what can I say … this place is fantastic. The atmosphere in the pub is exceptional, the food is incredible and the staff were so welcoming. My family were served by Katie who made us feel right at home and her service was that of a mitchelin star restaurant at EXCELLENT prices! As we went on a sunday, we had to try the roast and it was the best i’ve had in Scotland, could not recommend this place more you HAVE to go!

Both got steak pie for dinner. Both agreed it was very good. Never had a steak pie with so much steak in it! Hopefully be back for a meal again one day

We visited on Sunday, and even though the rugby was on, it added to a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and well-presented. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely will be back

Myself and my partner popped into Tillies on the way home from a visit to Silverbirch Garden Centre. We are from Glasgow, so we had never been to Tillies before and didn’t know what to expect. We were very happy with the food - we both got steak pie for main and apple crumble for dessert and both dishes were amazing! We thought we might look a bit out of place as we weren’t local to the area, however all the staff were so friendly and welcoming! We are just disappointed that we live so far away and can’t pop in for a few drinks! However, we would definitely do the 40 minute drive again for a lovely meal someday!

Had a fabulous lunch date with my husband on Friday 7th Oct 2022 at this little gem of a restaurant could not fault one thing about our whole afternoon Food was so fresh all cooked to order I had creamy garlic mushrooms hubby had Pate..followed by lightly battered fish fillets (crispiest batter ever) hubby had beef stew and dumplings looked fab.. we had no room for dessert but each had a coffee royale(made to perfection and I am very fussy!!!) Immaculate environment and toilets were spotless attention to detail in surroundings are outstanding..Robert the chef is doing a great job and menu had enough choice that would suit everyone..family run establishment..very homely would 100% recommend ..definitely be seeing us again. We came there by recomondation of someone local. She told the food was good, and yes it was. Great pubfood, very very good. Nice location and atmosphere.

This was our first visit and the previous reviews are spot on. Service is excellent and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Food was superb, reasonably priced, decor is great and the rest rooms are spotless. Without doubt will be returning soon.

I regularly pass this wee bistro and have only just tried it today for a family dinner and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Lovely friendly welcome and great attention throughout our meal. The food was simply amazing for such a modest wee place… the fish was enormous and everything freshly cooked and extremely tasty. Our previous regular dining place has recently closed but I am very happy to discover our new one in the tullie inn bistro. Looking forward to many more meals.

Our hotel's restaurant was full so we had to drive out for tea, so this was recommended. This is a newish family run bar and bistro. The menu was full of pub classics. The cooking was superb. They need to hang on to the chef!!! Very friendly hosts and great service.

Another superb meal in the Tillie - salmon with pesto pasta and he had chicken piri piri - both excellent! A great bottle of verdejo, to follow on from a cheeky espresso martini. Ask for an affogato for dessert - preferably with a shot of amaretto - it's great! Or go for the choc brownie - also great. A fab wee place - we're lucky because it's just up the road for us. We keep coming back!!
