This pub does have plenty of character but the wine is horrible. Toilets down a lot of stairs. Atmosphere was non existent no music on or anything considering it was St Patrick's day.

Very busy outside and very noisy outside. People were shouting to be heard. Nicer inside.

If you visit Liverpool try one of its oldest pubs . Originally a coaching house , close to town hall and Liver buildings , revisit the past.

Came in around 2-2.30pm. I asked about a beer garden and the guy behind the bar was incredibly hostile and rude. Bartender myself, so always super polite and friendly - not sure if he was having a bad day or what but he was so incredibly rude, he made me very uncomfortable. The beer garden absolutely reeked. I don’t even have much of a sense of smell but it was absolutely deadly - straight up sewerage. I walked around in a circle trying to avoid the smell but it’s pretty inescapable. Single beer was £6 🤯

I didn't have any food there so I can't rate that. Great selection of beers and for me the outside area was a great funding! Outdoor heaters, tent-like roofing, music and large screens! Place for football lovers and beer drinkers 😂

Went last Monday for lunch & didn't disappoint. Food was lovely, staff really friendly & helpful.It was my 1st time there but definately won't be last. Definately recommend!!

£6.50 a Guinness, disgraceful. Servers looked so embarrassed telling me, that they put a discount on for me; but it was still more than local competitors. Barely any TVs to watch the football, even though most people there were present to watch the match.

Visited Sunday 12/1/25. The pub has had a refurbishment since our last visit and was quiet. I didn't realise I was paying for that refurb though, prices are very expensive for a pub £17.50 for a large wine and a pint. Definitely won't be going here again

The pub inside is a gorgeous old pub with a fab atmosphere. That's the positives. I have been a few times over the years the last time will be last. Staff in there are incredibly rude. We ordered a few round of drinks. The second time we ordered a vodka and tonic. We actually got vodka and soda water. We asked to replace and I got a mouthful from the woman behind the bar. My partner asked (whom it was for) later and got the same abuse. Won't be going again.

£6,50 for Guinness, not the best pint but definitely the dearest

Waited ages for food but when arrived was ok

Poor service, staff rude at the bar, unable to give a dog a bowl of water, took 45 minutes to clear the table, even though others were cleared around us, smashed glass and rat traps outside

First visit on our recent mini pub tour in Liverpool & probably the only one lol, the pub itself has lots of character & was starting to get busy on a Saturday afternoon BUT 2 pints of guiness was £13.00 & the most expensive pint so far on our visits into Liverpool ! the guiness itself was good & the bar staff pleasant to engage with ( as I enquired about the price of our round) but we felt it was a little over the top....😟

Top city centre small boozer, old/historic, real ales, frequent customer.

Great place, but they have stopped serving blackstar because customers prefer Guinness, I think Blackstar is a much better stout, but it's supply and demand

A very popular pub in Liverpool which is full of character and funny characters too. There are lots of drinks to have and food is good enough. Staff are nice too.

Nice place we didn't eat but service and staff where great no wait to get served.

Absolute rip off and they think they are so clever giving short measures,they never fill a pint glass and the top of the glass is the biggest,I also found the staff to be very unfriendly

A traditional old pub. Lots of dark wood panels and non matching furniture. The Scouse was excellent and the beer good.

Would have been 5 star's but price of beer let it down.

Quality pub in the city, busy or quiet it’s always a cool vibe in here. One of my favourites in the city. The Scouse lads and the Northern Irish lads are cool. The female staff can be a bit moody with minorities tho, just an observation.

Iv never eaten here not even sure they do food but it's a good place to meet up in, then move on to somewhere else as it's expensive but always up to standard. No music no live sports no pool table so no real reason to stay here all night.

Traditional old historic pub, lots of character

What’s fantastic experience. A good old traditional English pub serving home cooked food and local beers and ales. The atmosphere is soothing and most things are dark wood giving it a relaxing vibe. I had the traditional Scouse dish with chips which was gorgeous. Cost me £19. And i had one their local ales which was lovely. The barmaid explained how these ales weren’t full of gas and actually offered a sample before buying which was a great gesture

Just had a drink we had never been in here before, very old inside, the courtyard at the back was a very nice surprise, try it out.

great old pub with shared outdoor courtyard rare in that it's an okell's pub, decent pint of okells and 4-5 more real ales on normally busy outside and a good atmosphere £8.60 for a pint of okells and a pint of inch's which is about average for Dale St.

Bang average boozer but the courtyard and people make up for it.

Just a great pub,been going there for years. Can't fault the service or the atmosphere.

Not sure what's happened to this pub last time I visited last year I raved for weeks how good the pie and mash was. Now prices have gone up portions have gone down. Now just a basic pie chips and mushy peas . won't be calling again

The beer garden here is a little gem. We happened to get a nice sunny day and happily spent a couple hours here. The bar itself is nice too and the staff were friendly. Would definitely come back if in the area again.

We went in lunch time,it was quite and we got served straight away.Pleasant pub. We only popped in for a quick pint.

Very traditional style pub. Good selection of drinks. Indoors were all dark brown with wooden tables. Huge seating in the courtyard, with a few tables under an awning.

Great selection of beers and plenty of room inside and outside to sit and socialise. Didn't dine here on this occasion, but food quality is good and reasonably priced.

Very busy pub, was difficult to find a table. So many tables had chairs missing because people were taking them so more people could sit at the small tables available. It's got a decent drink selection, and I was pleased to see local brewers represented. We ordered food via the app and it came really quickly, but was so disappointing. My partner ordered sausage, eggs, and beans which came with chips. It arrived on a huge plate with a paltry 14 chips and no beans whatsoever. I had the small plates and only the pizza was any good, the bao buns were the densest stodgiest I'd ever had and were difficult to eat. I'd not come back here, there are far superior pubs in Liverpool that are better deserving of my money.

Nice pint, as good as the next place that sell beer, would deffo go again.

Been coming here since the seventies. It's not changed a bit over the years. I think that's the way the clientele like it. Only really go during the day now as it can get very packed in the evenings, especially at weekends and can be difficult to get to the bar. They always have an excellent range of real ales and beers.

The toilet area smells of stale urine!

We enjoyed a Sunday evening at Rigbys. Live music and a good selection of real ale.

Good choice of real ales. On today we're okells, kirkstall and hawkshead breweries. Only thing spoiling my visit was the fact they seem to allow or turn a blind eye to vaping inside the premises.

Central, historic pub on Dale Street. Great place to pop into for lunch for a swift pint on the way home. Drinks are reasonable (their Cruzcampo is crisp and goes down far too easily!). Food is decent, the Scouse is great (though am I partial to the scampi), the pies have always been tasty and well cooked. When the weather is nice, there is a decent sized beer garden which is shared with The Lady of Mann bar next door, but generally has a good atmosphere no matter how crowded. Worth a visit if ever in Liverpool.

Good service and excellent food

Great old pub. Food excellent pie of the day, steak & ale with buttery mash, mushy peas & lashings of wonderful rich gravy. Superb portion sizes the pie stuffed full of steak. Note the dinner plate was extremely large.

Went on for a pint and they had a nice selection of ales and being Christmas, mulled wine!! The place is not pretentious and the staff are very polite. Not much more you need in a decent pub.
