Having read previous reviews I cancelled our booking in the Harbour Inn and booked to eat here instead. The restaurant has clearly changed hands recently and we were in fact greeted by the new owner who was enjoying a glass of wine with his chef at a table by the entrance and when we mentioned we had booked a table he told us to sit wherever we liked....it wasn't busy! This very relaxed approach was fine in the circumstances and in fairness the owner did then give us a ringing endorsement of his chef. Fortunately he wasn't wrong. We had breaded whitebait which was spot on and I had a brilliant fish chowder that was worth every penny and more. My wife went with simple fish and chips which was basic but well cooked. Obviously this was at the very end of summer and everywhere has quietened down (when we walked back past the Harbour Inn after dinner it was almost empty) and this restaurant is in transition. Consequently it rather lacked atmosphere, but the food was both very tasty and excellent value so we felt it only right to tip generously.Hopefully as word gets round that there is a new owner and a good chef the trade will pick up.

Wow! What an incredible experience we’ve just had. I’m writing this review to hopefully encourage everyone visiting St. David’s and nearby to make sure that you go here to truly experience fresh, local food. It felt like a top rated Michelin star restaurant whilst still keeping it local and friendly. Not very often you get the owner (Steve) of the restaurant greeting you - we chose to try the lobster (which was caught in the morning) and it’s the most delicious lobster I’ve ever had. Trust me when I say you can tell the difference between fresh catch and frozen/imported foods. The same goes for the calamari too, I’d highly recommend it. A huge thank you to Steve for the friendly chat, you’re a great host - keep doing what you do and I hope you’re able to bless many more people with your awesome hospitality.

Unfortunately only discovered this great restaurant on the last evening of our stay in West Wales. What a delight ! As well as a comfortable indoor dining area there is a terrace situated on the bank of the little river which flows into the harbour. The pint of crevettes and the calamari with asian salad was so fresh and delicious. The staff were amazing too and so enthusiastic about their food. I might add that the restaurant is dog friendly as well. Can't wait for our next visit to Solva where we can indulge ourselves in more of the menu offerings including breakfast.

It was special to meet the new owner Steve who’s very much hands on and at the heart of this cosy tucked away spot with nice views and absolutely delicious food. The menu is inspired to say the least. If you love food you’ll appreciate the details that make it stand out from the run of the mill menu. We had three dishes - the calamari, the chowder and the seafood spaghetti and all three were absolute showstoppers. Take our word for it - the chef knows what he’s doing.

We booked this place for our last night out on holiday, last week. I was really looking forward to it because of the good reviews. Unfortunately the service was pretty terrible. We were the only ones in the restaurant all evening so it wasn't a case of it being busy. The staff looked pretty fed up to be there and took a while to even offer drinks. Two of which they didn't have including dry white wine. The menu isn't massive but I'd rather a small but good menu. I was looking forward to seafood but I have to say after being ill with muscles twice before I prefer to avoid. All three main dishes contained muscles and as they are previously made up, I wasn't able to have any of the dishes. A couple of more seafood dishes wouldn't go a miss. I understand this is personal preference and not the fault of the restaurant. The food was decent enough but overall the experience wasn't good and we decided to leave before dessert and more drinks. I'm not a fussy person but this place was a big let down for me.

We wanted to sample some delicious fresh local seafood during our stay in Pembrokeshire. Boy did we strike lucky. Occupying a spot in the gorgeous Solva harbour, 35 Main Street offers a relaxed but attentive dining experience. The menu offered a variety of options to keep the children happy as well as the adults looking to try something exciting from the daily specials menu. The asian inspired Calamari starter was beyond tasty, the seafood Chowder was rich and hearty, the fresh Sea Bream was extremely well cooked and all well presented. Looking forward to sampling the Breakfast options in the next few days. A thoughtful recommendation, well worth a visit.

Superlative, as explained by the dictionary: (of an adjective or adverb) expressing the highest or a very high degree of a quality. Above all else, 35 Mainstreet was of the highest quality and degree. As a chef, Julian, as a front of house, Steve and as a welcoming place. All others bleak in comparison. It is these people that make a journey worth undertaking. I repeat: the highest degree of a quality. As a friend, as a chef and as a host.

Steve and his crew served up a STUNNING Sumday roast dinner. chicken for me, lamb for my wife. nut roast and beef were also available. plate piled high with delicious vege and meat: roast parsnip, potatoes, carrots with mashed sweed, steamed medly of vege including chard cabbage and courgette and a stonking huge Yorkshire pud. the star of the show was an unusual addition that punched through with vibrant flavour it involved a roast or grilled tomatoes and possibly Kimchi?? the grave was also a show stopper. the portions defeated us both, luckily we had our four legged friend to snaffle away any embarrassment of left overs! bottles of Bluestone Brewery s finest kept me jolly while my wife sampled the tipple from the mayor of St. David's that Steve brought in!! would recommend highly. honestly 10 out of 10. maybe loose a half a point for no salt and pepper, serviettes brought to table outside. but no loss to be able to eat in the fresh sea air and see the sun sparkling off the estuary.

Lots of potential but didn’t quite hit the mark for us on this lunch visit. We were told that some menu items we wanted were not available only after we had our drinks and tried to order food. Scampi and chips was average, however the house calamari with Asian salad was very tasty. We also ordered a side of skin on fries but were served chunky chips - upon checking, we were told that these were the only chips they had at the moment. We would have preferred to be given the choice to change our minds or remove them from the order rather than be served an alternative without consultation.

Called in for coffee after walking off the headland. After you get passed the very awkward sliding door to enter (who has sliding doors as a main entrance) I had to start up the conversation with the member of staff asking if they could do a simple coffee. There was no welcome even when they saw me arrive. But the person was not rude and was friendly. I was told no food as kitchen was closed. (2.30) My coffee was mediocre, not lovely but not horrendous and arrived quickly once I was served. Its a lovely setting and could be amazing. But I have to say, if you want to feel valued as a customer visit the Cambrian up the road. I really want to support local businesses and read previous poor reviews with response asking to support local business. Im sorry but just didn't feel this place really cared but perhaps there are difficulties and if you want to get local business support, people might be expecting a minimum of a warm welcome. Would I return , probably not.

Wowzers, what a fantastic restaurant. Situated in the heart of Solva, it is adjacent to the small river which gently trickles into the harbour. There is an lovely outdoor patio area although we chose to dine indoors on account of the sun bearing down on one of the hottest days of the year! Great menu choices that I should think would suit every taste. Started with the garlic mushrooms, whilst my other half had the breads with dips. For the mains, I had the fish and chips and partner had the battered halloumi. Generous portions, everything cooked to perfection, and must mention the batter as it was so light and crispy. Could only manage a coffee afterwards as we were stuffed! All the staff were ever so pleasant and welcoming, and as an added bonus, the place is Dog Friendly. Highly recommended, and well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Not best place to eat however good location. Perhaps if you like not vert sophisticated food like pub food than its ok but definitely not a restaurant food. Very different to what is shown as pictures on the website. The Spaghetti was overcooked and very spicy to the level you could not taste the plate flavour at all, staff was not really interested with our opinion.. I was surprised that this place had so many empty tables where 2 other restaurants in the town were fully booked. Now I know why. Please be aware

Let's start with the good bit, it's in a beautiful location. So now let's get to the nitty-gritty. I'm an ex chef, and while I never expect michelin food from anywhere, unless it holds a star or more, I do expect good food, good service and a decent menu. Sadly today was not it. First up we were given the wrong menu, which I have to say ticked all the right boxes, but we were informed the normal chef (I'm presuming patron), is on maternity leave and so we were given the cut down version. Now I have no idea as to how long the chef has been on maternity leave, but I'm presuming it's more than a day, so why give out the wrong menu?, and more importantly why not employ another chef for the interim? So to the scaled down version of the menu. Extremely basic, but still your staples, calimari, cod goujons, fish and chips, scampi, minute steak etc. Most of us ordered the minute steak as it sounded delicious, only for the waitress to inform us 10 minutes later that it had sold out! Ok no worries so we mostly went with the fish and chips (my fish was cooked beautifully), and scampi. Sadly it then took ages to arrive, I would have left by this time, but I was with friends, so I stayed. When the meal finally did arrive it looked great, huge piece of cod and very nice chips, but the nail in the coffin here was, "would you like any sauces"? Yes, tartare sauce please, "I'm sorry we've run out of tartare sauce" Even my wife who normally is super placid, said No! You cannot serve fish without tartare sauce. No apology, no offer to choose another dish, no discount offered, nothing. For a restaurant to underestimate the possible demands on their produce over an Easter bank holiday is beyond a school boy error it's pathetic. Even when I did complain, as innocuously as I could, still no apology, nothing! I certainly will never be patronising 35 again. Thanks for a rubbish afternoon lunch.!

We were very much looking forward to dining in the restaurant. The menu looked good and the reviews were also very good and, to be fair, the food itself, was actually pretty good. However, what was completely unacceptable was the behavior of one of the kitchen staff. When we arrived, we were very politely greeted by 2 young ladies and a very angry and sweary kitchen staff member. During the meal, said member of the kitchen staff invited a number of his friends into the restaurant to supply them with bottles of alcohol, clearly without any form of payment. He left the door open and was heard to say that he would be in prison the next day when he finally left. When we thought things couldn't get worse, 2 extremely drunk people turned up and tried to get food late in the evening. Rather than turn them away, the staff engaged with them for about 20 minutes, before we finally had enough and left. It is simply not acceptable to ask diners to put up with this.

🌟 for a fantastic location right on the coast, overlooking the harbour and another 🌟 for having Her Majesties cutout during the Jubilee weekend, its a nice touch. However, that's where the positivities end. Outside seating area is absolutely filthy-and not the kind of dirt that happens on a busy day near the sea, it looks like it hasn't been swept for a while. Sand, hair, cigarette butts, straws, etc-its all on the floor. Tables haven't been cleared for ages-and its been really really slow here for the last hour-not a single member of staff to be seen, plates and glasses accumulating on every surface. The bar lady's face was probably used in a dictionary to explain "i dont want to be here" and she really proved it how slow she moved. What absolutely tipped me over-the way she took the glasses by sticking her hand inside-i really really really don't want to drink from a glass that had a persons fingers inside. So..... thanks for that

We are both gluten free so choose this place as it had lots of options. When we arrived and asked it turned out most of the gluten free options were actually fried in with gluten products so we're not suitable for coeliacs. The waitress was very helpful in figuring out what we could have but in the end it meant we had a lot fewer options. Once the food did arrive it was a bit of a mixed bag. All of it was OK but only my starter was actually good. The main was very oily and served with a side salad that was doused in dressing so far too heavy with the other fried food. The atmosphere was nice and the servers helpful but unfortunately I can't give it more than a three star review. Edit: to add on following the owners reply. We did tell the server about the feedback on the food and she said she would pass it I on to the chef. Also she did not say there was a separate frier for GF we were told there was only one frier afte she came to check with the kitchen. If that is the case then we would have been happy to have those items as the risk would have been very minimal. It would be good if the servers were clear on the situation and could explain this to customers.

Loved it! Amazing. Nothing too much trouble. Great Vegan options and Hannah the owner went out of her way to put on additional choices. Lovely atmosphere and great location right at the mouth of the estuary. We will defintely be back when next in Solva. We visited 3 days in a row to sample the wide rrange of menu options and cakes. March 22 - back again.. still amazing food and people!

Amazing food and amazing and friendly service! Food was a bit pricey but worth it for the Rocky road at the end!

Not as good as previous visits. Bits of order missing and finding out after takeaway meal that needs cutlery has been brought out that there is no takeaway cutlery was not good. I suspect staffing levels were inadequate for the customer volumes.

Nice location, but we had to wait a while to be served for takeaway ice cream as the ice cream counter was unstaffed and no staff around? Ice cream was very disappointing and didn't taste anything like the flavour we ordered.

This place is never open - I was just sat outside of here at 2.30pm on Friday 13th and it's closed, despite stating 5pm. I've been twice before and it's always shut hours before the times state. You really need to update your opening times to avoid leaving people disappointed and hungry. Really poor.
