Nice food although Over priced and very over rated!

This place is worth a visit. The staff are very accommodating and very kind hearted. I have visited here lots of times the dinners are delicious. I'm a huge fan of their Sunday dinners with all the trimmings. The deserts are always worth it ( we all need a wee desert in the week). I follow the yellow bird on Snapchat and the food and deserts posted up would have you drooling. Brilliant wee place.

Great spot for bit of lunch or breakfast, everything cook to my satisfaction, best spot about by far, staff very nice. Can wait till next time.

This a wonderful place to eat. Especially if you are coeliac and need gluten free food! My partner is coeliac and we eat there at least once a week and has never been glutened. Nothing is too much bother for the staff who are always friendly and helpful. Service with a smile 😃

Never can pass the yellow bird without getting at least a wee brownie. The salted caramel brownies are UNBELIEVABLE. And the jam and coconut sponge - also a firm favourite with my kids. Always cosy and welcoming, spotlessly clean and homey. The staff are so lovely. Fab menu and lots of options for allergies. 10/10.

Lovely food and the best coffee. The best chicken box about!

Shocked . I’ve just had the worst experience in it. Expected to pay full price for the worst service. Burnt toast for kids, every table bogging , wrong drinks order, wrong food order and a complete meal missed. Seriously below par experience. No idea how this place is still open.

I had preordered a takeout 1 fry and 2 gluten free fry’s I was running late and rang to explain They reassured me it was ok Some 15/30 minutes later I received my food Absolutely beautiful food tasty and well presented The gluten-free potato bread was to die for And the yellow bird could not have been any more helpful They apologised in case it was cold But it was anything but I will return soon !

Had a lovely meal enjoyed the atmosphere One small point it was a very cold day outside and the restaurant inside was very very cold. I had to sit with my coat on It could have done with a heater. The toilets were spotless and the staff were very nice .

From min you enter the cafe your welcomed with big smile and greeted kindly and not to mention the food is always 👌😍😋😋

Would definitely recommend this place lovely friendly and welcoming staff, the food is always cooked fresh which is definitely key and we've never had a bad plate yet. I've had the full breakfast the healthy chicken box which is absolutely delicious and Sunday dinners and the meat is always so juicy it's definitely a go to place if you visit Limavady and it's got handy parking too .

Firstly, I will say I regularly dine at The Yellow Bird, and do recommend it to others but it has taken me a while to figure out WHAT it is that stops it from being amazing. When this place gets it right, it knocks it outta the park, food is gorgeous regardless of the dish, atmosphere is great, traybakes stunning, absolutely no complaints. But other visits? Totally different experience. I don't know if it's certain staff, if the cook has 'off' days or what, but some days the food is overcooked or tasteless and the restaurant is actually physically cold on other days (ie: uncomfortable). The decor needs an overhaul. The yellow and blue vibe is great, the bathroom is cool and quirky but the tables and particularly the chairs look like an afterthought. The teapots need replaced too, cracked spouts galore. It's the little touches like making sure table condiments are filled, tables are clean and cleared, order and service prompt. This is a hidden gem with piles of potential but it lets itself down and it's a shame.

We had a wonderful visit to The Yellow Bird on our way to Londonderry. The potato leek soup was delicious, and their wheaten bread is made fresh on the premises. Be sure to try the Christmas Dirty fries… all the Christmas dinner fixings on top of a bed of fries. The service was great and our waitress was lovely. Highly recommend!

Food has been of a very good standard but unfortunately on my last visit I was disappointed as my choice was not as expected

We went with our grandchildren on our weekend at Benone. Sunday morning was the last day and called for a treat. Decor is gorgeous, service brilliant with nothing a bother even though we had deviations from main menu. Hyper grandkids, spilled coke nothing phased the staff. Food was lovely. All in all a great time.

Best breakfast in Northern Ireland! Came in as a group of 4 and a baby. We had 4 delicious breakfasts. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with the baby. To top things off we bought 4 cakes and enjoyed them that afternoon!

I was in today an ordered meat feast burger cut into it and ended up eating cling film was told burgers are wrapped in cling film young girl was lovely and said they were very sorry got something different but was charged full price I think food needs to be double checked b4 serving as if that would have been served to a child or elderly person it could have been a different story knives and forks were not clean cutlery should b washed by hand and polished

Best little hidden gem for a morning stop before or after the Giant's Causeway. So glad we found this delicious stop with a charming and beautifully designed shop.

Went here for Sunday dinner really disappointing after supposed to hear reports on it being lovely peas were hard beef was hard as well as Yorkshire pudding pepper sauce wasn't like pepper sauce you get in most places food has been sitting out for a while.

What a gorgeous little find this is. We had the apple pie with cream and a latte and cappuccino together. Will definitely be back and we'll done on creating a lovely space. Would be keen to chat with the owner about an opportunity too.

Was in yesterday for coffee and tray bake with mum ,,not a happy experience the chair I sat on was broken and waited ages for the coffee when it did arrive was tepid mum had a slice of apple cake which wasn't cooked properly 12 pd wasted

I came to Limavady to have some carbon bike wheels trued and discovered this amazing place tucked away next to the town public car park!!! The atmosphere / decor is truly awesome, seating for all tastes, comfy to bar stool type and more!!! The menu, as all great menus are, is simple, with some mouth watering choices but I was recommended the chicken box. It arrived beautifully presented real chunky chips/ chicken fillet, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious from start to finish. What more could you ask for? The proprietors deserve all the success for such a top notch place to relax and eat! Last but not least the Ladies waiting and serving made me feel welcome........ and not forgetting the Chef, well done everybody! I'll be back next month to revisit bike shop, but the breakfast photos makes this secondary on the list to do!!! Lol

Definitely the new favorite in town for my wife and I! We popped in to grab breakfast and had an amazing time. The staff are wonderful and the food is excellent! My wife had the lemon meringue scone which she says is quite possibly the best scone she has ever had! We will definitely be regulars every time we are in town. 12/10

First impressions upon entering was a very foul smell, like stale vinegar which was instantly off putting but decided to continue as we were curious to try. Staff were very lovely and kind but could have been shown more intuition as they left us for almost 20 mins after our meal was finished with dirty plates even though we ordered a two course meal, in the end we only had one of the courses and just left as no one came. Food was not nice, deli quality grissle and not fresh at all which is very disappointing for the price although my partner seemed to enjoy her meal I do not think we will ever be back. Everything was filthy including the tables, glasses, cutlery, plates, walls, floors and even one of the fabric chairs was stained and bogging. I think the place desperately needs a good professional clean, more experienced staff and perhaps a few scented candles? Regretting letting our curiosity get the better of us. Completely overhyped and wouldn’t wast your time here at all.

A lovely place to eat with children and menu was very varied

The worst fry we have ever had, couldn’t even eat it. Waste of money. Food tasted like it was precooked. Bacon was chewy, beans look like they had been reheated over and over. Wont try here again

Staff very young but extremely pleasant, although really could have done with someone with more experience for guidance. Tables sitting overflowing with dirty dishes and dirty napkins sitting around 🙁. I just had a coffee and shortbread, coffee was overflowing and shortbread was very soft. One of the staff members was busy making up orders, for Christmas I presume? Table I sat at was an old suitcase and was filthy 🤢. I do appreciate that this time of the year is busy but should try not to let standards slip.

Absolutely shocking experience in a place that was once very good. Gave it the benefit of the doubt after good experiences in the past. Waited an hour on breakfast, there was no unusual requests. There was two tables in the entire cafe with seats taken. The food arrived cold, under cooked and the ingredients are cheep and quite frankly not nice. The staff were standing around doing nothing while one lady in the kitchen struggled to make the basic of things. Heard saying “I am not a machine” while there was 6 people in the cafe. Tables, floor cutlery and glass wear all dirty. A shambles of a place

I'm feeling really conflicted about The Yellow Bird. My partner and I stopped by for a breakfast and I wish we've read all the negative reviews first. The first thing we noticed was the interior with mismatched period decor, a bit quirky, it has a great character and potential. However... The premises are very unclean and unkempt. There are cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere. Tables are not being cleaned and when someone finally came to wipe our table, they did it with a stinky old cloth that should have been thrown away weeks ago. Yet we still gave the place a benefit of doubt. We've waited for food for quite some time. When it finally arrived, all cutlery was dirty, not washed properly, covered in bits of food. My cup of tea and jug of milk were the same. I didn't want to complain, so I went to get some new cutlery myself and when I looked into the tray, all of it was the same, not a single knife in the tray was fit for use. All around the trays there was dust and dead flies, just like by the window table. So I had to complain about this to the server and her answer was "we have polished cutlery, we'll bring you those". The question is why is there badly washed cutlery and polished cutlery, why isn't all cutlery and cups in a cafe properly cleaned and polished? They also told us the cutlery was dirty because they accidentally ran out of dishwasher salt and rinse aid, but looking at other reviews, problems with dirty cutlery and the premises being overall dirty have been ongoing for many months now! The food itself was nicely presented, but underwhelming in quality. French toast looked beautiful, but wasn't particularly well made and tasted very eggy. Some bottom pieces even had bits of egg around the edges. A fried egg basically. Veggie breakfast included a weird tasting supermarket pancake that my partner thought had a wee speckle of blue mould starting on the edge. He didn't want to mention anything until we were on our way home because he didn't want confrontation. Overall, I'm confused. The decor is lovely and this café could do wonders, so why is it so dirty and not being taken care of properly? Needless to say, we won't be going back.

Highly recommended The Yellow Bird, great gluten free options and the food is delicious. The staff always meet you with a smile and are very helpful.

Grand little spot,myself and sister went in for coffee stayed for lunch,which was lovely,staff were excellent nothing to much bother,enjoyed my lunch reasonably priced.

After a harrowing streamed funeral from Sydney at 5am I took my wife and sister for a big breakfast! We were greeted and shown a table, handed menus and water brought to the table. Ordered our food and it was just gorgeous when it arrived. I had the the big breakfast(!) and the other two had poached eggs, avocado etc, one with wheaten bread, my wife with potato bread as she cannot eat wheaten. To say they enjoyed their meals is a total understatement! My sister, first timer, was delighted with the food, service and surroundings. Well done everyone!

Xcellent services and efficient for lunchtime

Great food! I recommend the Chicken Box for those with an insatiable appetite (like myself) it hit the spot! Or if you want something lovely to share Great Service! The staff here is friendly and welcoming to passerby’s and locals alike Great Ambiance! The atmosphere here is homey and cute & the decor is second to none Overall if you live here and haven’t been - why wait? If you’re visiting this is a must see and experience. Either way you will be talking about long after leaving!

My favourite place in the town. Lovely food, and a great selection of meals, snacks, and treats for people with dietary requirements like coeliac disease. Margaret the owner is wonderful and anytime I've been in the staff have been friendly and helpful too.

Made the mistake of going back thinking the last time was maybe just a bad day for them. The tray bakes and cakes where sat on the counter with no covering and a few flies enjoying the cake. Staff member talking to her mate and left us sitting for literally 10mins. Had to go to another table for salt. The place needs a deep clean, dead light bulbs on the dusty chandeliers. Rickety old chairs. Chipped cup. Come on at least make an effort. The only saving grace was the cook. Lovely lady with glasses that brought us our food. The food was delicious. Not one drop of grease on the plate. Presentation perfect. If this lady is poached it will be the end of The Yellow Bird. Thankfully no sign of the annoying manager.

Great foods Yellow Bird Menu- are about creating a community atmosphere for people who love what this area has to offer wheather its local produce on the local people . They know you will feel at home in the yellow bird. Come set around thier warms health and enjoy a cup of thier fantastic coffee home made. I think the thing that let's this place down apart from his dusty dated interior is the annoying manager. We sat and watched her stick her phone in staff members faces and shout what's the specials today. Then bellow with laughter when the poor lady said something wrong. We heard one young girl who works there say I hate when she does that. I know it's all about social media but read the room. It was awkward to watch. I don't feel the manager/owner reads people very well. Certainly not her staff, who were heard saying Where is she now? Then smiling when told that she was in the office. I would like to come back to see what it's like when she isn't there. I bet it is more relaxed without the false and annoying manager. There is being friendly and there is being annoying. Definitely needs a ceiling to floor deep clean. Some crockery looks like it came from a deseased loved one China cabinet. Will definitely call back in a month to see if it still the same. Hopefully on managers day off 🤞

Great ambience. Mismatched furniture gives an aura of shabby-chic, lending the authenticity hidden gem, of a cafeteria found in big city neighborhoods...if you know where to look. The menu choices are vast and beautifully presented. The coffee was excellent. Our server was friendly and professional, and asked if anyone at our table had dietary restrictions (one of us did!). Took one star off because the dining area was very cold, we had to keep our coats on to eat. However many businesses are struggling to stay open in the current economy and I would gladly go back!

This used to be the cafe to go to in Limavady, there was always a great buzz about it, with friendly staff, great food and atmosphere, but sadly that’s not the case anymore. The last couple of visits, the food and the service has been a real disappoint. The 4 tables at the front door had not been cleared, we could only see one staff member but there was only 4 other customers in the shop and they had all been served. The same tables had still not been cleared when we were leaving. I ordered a chicken fillet burger, not my first choice but there was a named ingredient missing from my first choice, that same ingredient was missing on a previous visit to the cafe too. The chicken breast was absolutely tasteless and watery and had made my bap soggy. We also had to return cutlery and a milk jug for not being properly washed. I feel the whole place needs a good clean and refresh. The same artwork has been hanging there for years and needs replaced plus the glass chandeliers need washed, they don’t even look as if they’ve been dusted since they were installed.

45 minutes for two toasties!! In on Tuesday 7.3.23 lunch time, 2 other tables in the place dead quiet, still waited 45min for 2 toasties to be made, had to ask the member of staff on the till (dark haired young girl who seemed no more interested in being there) to put it in a takeaway box as only get an hour lunch break from work. Best thing about it was we didn’t order 2 toasties one was supposed to be a Cajun chicken ciabatta but out came 2 x chilli chicken toasties. Also table beside us ordered after us but received their baked potato and chicken box after 10/15min..Staff member on front of house/order taking not very welcoming, and no attention to detail whatsoever. can see why the place was so quiet! Definitely better places to visit in limavady for a nice lunch

Had previously got an amazing meal in here and had left a 5 star review... The return visit was shocking. The latte cups had an outer crust on them so bad that I wasn't sure if it was a rough or smooth cup.. Fiancé got a chicken burger with no sauce or anything on it bar a couple of leaves... I got the kebab box which was the smallest portion of food I've ever received anywhere in my life (literally stopped in mcdonald's on the way home for food) I really wanted to like this place again but unfortunately won't be back after such a miserable portion of food

When in 10 am sat down, waitress gave us the menu's Wait to for our order to be taken.meanwhile a couple came in and then a man came in their orders were taken and got served,it was then my friend and I left at 10.20 . Service and attitude was awful.

Food was good and cooked to order the table was a little bit messy as it hadn't been cleaned properly. On the up side very friendly staff and I wouldn't let the untidiness put you offal the food was good and not pre cooked

To be honest I wouldn’t rate it after today, we waited 45 minutes for breakfast and to be fair it wasn’t busy, which then ended up being shop bought pancakes and 2 slices of toast (was supposed to be French toast) and cost almost £30. The table was dirty and asked a young lad to clean it and he ignored me, dead fly in the vinegar 💀 really disappointed with the over all experience. Probably won’t be back

Staff hospitable, pleasant and welcoming. Service is very good. Child friendly. Inside and outside clean and tidy. Food is delicious. Aware of food and drink allergies, and preferences, IE: gluten free and vegetarian. Caters for all. Wheelchair accessible. Pay for parking in front of The Yellow Bird. Also easy excess to pedestrianised shopping areas.

Awful. Food was horrible. Vege options were obviously from the freezer. And salads were old and had black bits.

Really good breakfast this morning and a proper cup of tea. Very nice teapots also. Owners / staff were attentive and friendly. Food took a few minutes but perfectly reasonable as they were quite busy. I have not been here before but would happily go again.

Stopped by The Yellow Bird on a whim as we passed through Limavady, and so glad we did! Such a friendly & hard working staff team who clearly take care with their customers of all ages. They have created a lovely community safe space which was a joy to watch. The food was freshly cooked, hot and tasty-tasty! Only wish we'd had room for cake too. The travel tips as we left were also thoughtful and generous...what a great crew 🙌🏼

Recently visited this gem this is a bit of the beaten path. We sat outside for lunch and order a burger and chicken with pepper sauce. We were pleasantly surprised by the big portions that were provided. The staff provided friendly service and added a touch of class to this simple restaurant.

Called today for coffees and a snack, two lattes and a cheese and ham toastie, food arrived no ham in the toastie, came back a few minutes later same sandwich now with some ham,three tables with uncleared dishes, didn't get cleared until we were leaving , disappointed

Been coming here for years with my family and I couldn't name 1 fault that's ever happened in my experience here. Food is always 11 out of 10 and staff are always amazing. Also must say that their brownies are to die for 😍 and dont get me started on the sunday dinner, beef to be exact

after a recent visit with a group of friends, the atmosphere was horrendous! I don’t know how the staff can work their, a few staff members were took out the back and were told off and got shouted at which we could hear every word of ,which I think was totally unacceptable, then for the staff to walk back out to the front with tears in their eyes basically. Yes we had to wait for our food for a bit but totally expected in a popular cafe. The food is always great but they need to treat their staff with more respect. As we found the staff who was serving us very polite and helped us with everything we needed to know about the menu, specials and drinks.
