Easy to book. Nicely appointed interior. Warm friendly staff and such a tasty meal prepared with some imagination. We hadn't expected such a great experience tbh so thanks. My steak was superb.

Me and my partner came here for the first time since its opened and we were pleasantly surprised with the food, service and ambiance, we had a main and dessert, it was delicious! Great service, pub was lovely inside with log fires, will definitely be back again 😊

Went for Sunday lunch today, had a fabulous meal, perfect. Very attentive and youthful staff , nicely furnished and well planned dining areas, couldn’t fault any of it, will be returning, I hope it is a successful business in these trying times, it deserves to👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The refurbishment is excellent and very tasteful. What a pleasure to be dealt with by welcoming, polite ,friendly staff who were more than helpful. We have been waiting for it to reopen and we were not disappointed. Menu looks appealing and we have booked a table for next week. Great 👍

2nd visit by myself and friends , they do not fail, food, and service 5.star.. Not the most expansive menu, but the Quality of the food, that is locally sourced is first class

I got food poisoning from here and was on the toilet for 5 days, the case is now with my legal representatives, who will go for an out of court settlement of £5000 Sterling.

A nice cosy pub where you can go for a drink or some food. The bar area is relatively small but nice enough. The food area has a nice conservatory extensive and a side room with a sofa and fire. It looked very cosy at Christmas. The food itself was ok, but I thought expensive. I've been here a couple of times now and although I wouldn't be discouraged from going again, I am aware of the prices.

Long wait especially for it being so quiet at 4 o'clock but food was good and staff were friendly.

Food is amazing. Staff are super friendly..I loved my meal and will be back again and again. Oh and. Vegetarian and I had a lovely interesting meal..it's not the same old same old and the price is reasonable..Saul behind the bar was first class in his service and attitude as were the attentive owners. I cannot fault this place. Seriously,you must try it ( and that's the first review I've ever said that in). Cannot rate it higher than 5 stars, if I could, I would!!

Mixed review, we went with a party of 10 on a wednesday evening, we were the only table in. A disjointed evening, one meal was forgotten and arrived 20 mins after everybody had been served. The 2 pork belly ordered in our party were soggy with no crackling and pretty grim, the young girl serving clearly needed more training. However, some of the food was really good. A shame because its a nice venue, just needs to get its act together. But we probably won't be rushing back.

The food here is great. They focus on locally sourced fresh produce for their meat and sustainable sources for their fish (Cornwall). The menu is not too big but offers a good selection and you can tell that they love delivering good hearty well presented food. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

I like this pub, it's quite unique. Prices start from about 9 pounds, so it's very reasonable.

Been once before and had delicious fish and chips so went back again for more nice food - unfortunately on this occasion we were really disappointed in the quality of the food. After waiting 40 minutes and having to ask where our food was, it arrived. The fish batter was over cooked and the fish was dry, and such a small portion! Plus hardly any chips! Such a shame and we left still feeling hungry 🙁

Having called in today for a 'snack' (Sunday 2nd September), and having been diagnosed 2 days ago as being intolerant to cow's milk, the only thing on the snack menu I could have was a 'hot beef bap,' as it said on the menu. Not a problem as only wanted something to keep me going. I told the waitress that I didn't want any butter on the 'bap,' or the Yorkshire pudd that came with it due to my intolerance. Being new to all of this intolerance thing, it wasn't until I was half way through it ( and very nice it was too!), that I realised the 'bap,' was in fact a 'brioche bun,' which seems to be the latest silly craze, and which I know contains butter!! I carried on eating it as it was only day 2 of my new regime. I pointed this out to the waitress after who said she'd told the chef of my intolerance and he said it was ok, but she'd double check. She came back and apologised, saying yes there was butter in it 'but only a small amount.' Firstly, if the menu had been honest and said it was a 'brioche bun' and not a 'bap,' I wouldn't have ordered it. Secondly, I'm amazed that someone is allowed in a kitchen to cook, when they obviously have little idea of what is actually in the food! I think some serious training is needed and wording needs changing on the menu. It is hard enough having to deal with this when eating out, but it is made twice as hard when somewhere that claims to be a 'gastro pub,' doesn't know the basics. Eating food that you're intolerant to can lead to days of being ill. It could be even worse if they served something to someone that they were allergic to, as that could be fatal.

Excellent food and perfect country pub experience. My wife and I eat out regularly in the Staffordshire/Cheshire area and live near the White Lion. We'd had mixed experiences over the years and so tended to drive past recently but the new owners have really turned the place around over the last 2 years. We took some friends on Saturday night and had a fabulous meal. We're from Scotland so are great seafood lovers and the White Lion has a fairly unique offering of fresh seafood specials for the area alongside well executed gastropub favourites. Good selection of wines and beers served by friendly professional staff made for a fantastic evening at reasonable cost. The White Lion is now among the best in the area and if you like seafood then better than Swan with 2 Necks, Pecks, Boars Head, Bears Paw etc

We were visiting Bearstone Fruit Farm so decided to visit the White Lion. Very friendly and professional staff. Great menu. Food was lovely. We had the Lion's Dip (Beef brisket burger in a brioche bun with delicious cooking liquor/gravy and homemade coleslaw with crispy fries and the honey gammon, chips and egg. We sat outside in the glorious sunshine with the dog in the shade under our table and finished off the experience by meeting the resident pigs, rabbit and chickens which our little boy loved. Thumbs up White Lion, keep up the good work!

Met the family here for my stepdad's birthday, lovely atmosphere and the place was well kept, lots of lovely food and my vegetarian wife was well catered for. No baby changing but the staff were friendly and courteous when asked and let us change our daughter wherever we were comfortable. We shared a delicious baked camembert and I had moules frites and my wife had mushroom lasagne. There were an amazing selection of local cheeses to finish. Theres plenty of outside seating if its sunny and some pigs, rabbits and chickens for the kids to pet! A lovely afternoon out thank you. I'm sure we'll be back 👍

There were 8 adults 3 children from USA & UK for a Traditional English Roast Beef Sunday lunch. The beef was so tender and tastie, veg cooked perfectly and the assortment of drinks were perfect. Helens idea of sitting outside as it was a beautiful day and the toys, finger puppets for the children helped make it even more outstanding day. From us all you could not get better anywhere.

We visited here for Sunday lunch. We'd not been before so I can only comment on the Sunday menu in isolation. The place itself is nice, a mixture of old and newer inside, and an outdoor seating area, and a grassed area too. There is plenty of parking. Staff were friendly and attentive, and weren't phased by us taking a baby, providing us with a high chair and a couple of toys. Food was all good and freshly cooked. There should be something for everyone to enjoy in every course, even from what I assume is a slightly curtailed Sunday menu. I think there were five different choices for each course. There is an extensive gin selection, and the nice touch of a variety of tonics. Unfortunately, I was driving! All in all, very nice. I would eat there again.

Popped in one evening after a visiting a client in the area. Pub looked inviting but the food was at best average and overpriced, should have found a chippy. Wont be visiting again!! :(

Went for Sunday 8th January and ordered tomatoe and basil soup and it was amazing. Then ordered pheasant as main course it was well cooked and very well put together. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food is great with very reasonable pricing. Will definitely be back .... Great job well done. Thank you for a lovely afternoon

The new set up at the White Lion is excellent. They have a good welcome for everyone and there are a good number of attentive staff. The service was efficient and quick and the food was excellent on the whole. The ham hock terrine, starter, was a little tasteless but we sampled all three mains and they were all faultless. The chocolate brownie was in my son's opinion better than his main of ribeye beef which was, in his opinion marvellous.

Everything wonderful and a little bit more!.Amazing food and great appreciated service.I'm very critical but this ticks all the boxes. Thankyou.
