The White Hart in Swindon

Went today 13.10.24 for the carvery, welcome was not very "warm" very matter of fact, no personal touch, drinks order was taken the as soon as we got there, the restaurant only had 1 couple in at this time, we went to the carvery and were already eating the when the drinks arrived, FOOD - The meat was cooked very well, moist and tasty, chef was pleasant and friendly, the mash is probably the best i have had away from home, roast potatoes could have done with a little longer to crisp up. Carrots and white cabbage was completely bland and flavorless even with salt added, cauliflower / broccoli cheese was magnificent, peas are peas, red cabbage was nice once cranberry added, gravy was watery and thin RETURNING - I would return for the good parts and avoid the bad, not much required to make exceptional

Good food, good service very happy...

The food was delicious the deserts were absolutely one of the best deserts in the world and the look of the pub/hotel is a good location.

The team are always caring and attentive, the food is always well considered and of great quality. Thanks for another great roast with great veggie options.

Terrace = carpark on a busy road. Literally barked at by waitress “not dog friendly”.

We frequent The White Hart on a regular basis and absolutely love our visits. Fantastic pub menu, wonderful and accommodating staff and also dog friendly which is a bonus! Would recommended to anyone looking for a cosy pub!

Stayed for a night as we were in the area for a party. Excellent room, lovely size and quality. Also found the food in the bat very good and reasonable. Great breakfast and service. We would definitely stay again!

Eating here at lunch time as a group of 6 all week as on a local training course. Really nice food, good service and bring well looked after. 👌

We stayed here for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, the furniture in the room and, most importantly, the cleanliness of the room and the whole place. The cleaners are too be commended as they do such a good job and have a lovely, helpful attitude, I was very impressed. We liked that the accommodation was in a separate building to the pub which meant less likelihood of being disturbed, not it was only a short walk across the car park to the back entrance where you could access all areas of the pub. We had breakfast which was good, a buffet which was good and an evening meal which was good. All the staff were friendly and helpful, we stayed quite late in the bar one night and there were no complaints. Very, very pleased, highly recommended and will go there again should we visit Swindon.

Staff very attentive weldone to them . The food was OK.

Nice location and very popular. The menu choice was very good . Our meal was excellent especially the chicken caesar salad , perfectly char grilled chicken . The only down side was we had to ask for the dessert menu twice , by that time we decided to pay and leave. The food was the star of the show.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere,great food.

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday. Just 3 of us. Walked in, and found ourselves a table. Waitress asked, very passive aggressively "did you seat yourselves? It's all table service". Not a good first impression, particularly as there is no "please wait here to be seated" signage at either entrance amd my crystal ball was on the blink. Food very slow to come out. Waitress had said that there was a table of 14 ahead of us that had pre-ordered so there might be a wait.....but we still waited a long time after their food had come out. Food was passable, but nothing to write home about (fish and chips), and IMO was overpriced.

me and my husband av stayed in the White Hart on many occasions, still remains good value for money , excellent rooms! brilliant staff and the food is lovely! would definitely recommend this hotel! 👌

March 15th 2024 Came home here again for an early evening meal and a pre Paddy's day pint of Guinness. We didn't book, just turned up just after 5pm, we was given a nice table for two. We chose fish and chips and a Chilli con Carne for our meals, with a side salad too. My partner had an Earl Grey tea and I had my Guinness. Food was very nice, daisy sized portions, and it came out very quickly. The Cod was tasty and deep white in colour👌 and the batter was dry, and extremely lovely!😋 The chips are very nice here, again very tasty and very well cooked, dry, which I like👍 Their chilli had a great taste to it, not too spicy, and easy to eat, enjoyed the rice and tortillas with it too.😀 First visit. Our neighbours birthday, so we walked to the White Hart to celebrate with a few beers. We got there early, there was a choice of tables to choose from👍 We had a some bottled cider and they enjoyed the local 3 B's and IPA bitter. We didn't have food, but what was being taken up other customers looked very tasty, so next time we come here, we will have a meal😋👍

Great value place to stay. Good clean rooms, very good food and beer.

Very average. Rooms are ok and clean. The pub is not very good, the breakfast is OK. There is a need to improve bar service, particularly how customers are spoken to.

Rooms are available, but I've never used them, so I can't give any feedback. Food is very good and service is also to a high standard.
