We made a good choice by dining here, with family . The staff were helpful and friendly , the food was very tasty, good quality and there was ample selection on the menu . We made a good choice by going here , and wouldn't hesitate in returning . First class !!

We called here on the off chance mid afternoon mid week. My husband had steak and ale pie with chips and I had mushroom and stilton pie with new potatoes both with vegetables. The staff, service, atmosphere and surroundings were spot on but most importantly the food was hot and delicious. We will definitely go again when visiting family in Adlington and we were amazed to find such a lovely place. I imagine you would need to book in the evening as phone bookings were coming in whilst we were there. Thanks so much to all at the White Crow.

Went in few weeks ago had the braised steak it was hard and big lump meat normally it melts in ur mouth, decided give it another go week ago food was awful veg bland cabbage peas, carrots , salad on lasagne had no dressing on , did like going but not going back , the staff are lovely but tjink they meed change the chef

Popped in tonight as just passing by on way elsewhere for food but took a chance and very glad we did. Had the Sunday roast beef and it was quite probably best Sunday dinner ever in a rustic old fascinating pub building. Hot roast, amazing creamy mash, succulent tender roast beef and REAL gravy. Thick, hot and tasty. Great Yorkshire too. Amazing old historic building. Thanks for seating us. Staff were lovely too. Thank you. Homemade apple and cinnamon crumble with hot custard was amazing too. Clearly a great chef with pride in their food.

Great food well priced and good service

If you want good, home made cooked food this is the place to go! Staff are excellent ...sooo welcoming - couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely go again.

They insist on serving your food on wooden plates and bowls. I’m not really convinced that wooden plates are hygiene friendly ! If not treated with anti bacterial spray then your in trouble,

Good traditional Sunday roast. The whisky and gingerbread bombe was superb

Myself and partner visited on 11/12 and were very disappointed. We ordered our food and 45 mins later there was no sign of our food. I asked the waitress who informed us that one of chefs had gone home ill. Fair enough these things happen. About 15 mins later our food arrived. Unfortunately my partners meal of fish and chips was inedible. I explained to the waiter and he offered to replace but obviously I wasn’t going to sit there eating whilst my partner waited for her food. Therefore I politely asked for the bill and in fairness to the establishment they only charged for the drinks we had had. In all I have to say the staff were very nice and we made no fuss at all when complaining. I would suggest that when we arrived we should have been told that there would be a delay. These things happen and we all have a bad day sometimes. We will give the restaurant another try in the future.

First visit here and won't be the last, cosy country pub with really great food - definitely recommend.

Ordered 2 roast dinners food was absolutely burnt to a crisp sent them both back got 2 new ones same again SHOCKING!!!!!!!!!!

Came in today last minute because my usual place was closed (the audacity) First of all when we rang, the lady on the phone was lovely. Then when he got here our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, Amy, she definitely earned her wage and then some (my mothers words).. We love it when people look like they enjoy their job, and actually work rather than procrastinating. Check backs timed perfectly too. The food was a whole other story. Impeccable and we couldn't even eat it all, presented aesthetically too. The whole place has a nice country pub feel. Easy going to be our new regular!

Had a lovely Sunday roast, menu also looks very good. Young staff are excellent and should get their deserved tips in a more timely way. Pay their tips to them in cash if you can as they may not get them if left to manager on shift.

Food OK & fairly priced, however drinks VERY overpriced. £6.80 for a white wine & soda. (£6.50 for wine 30p for soda)

Best roast dinner around, lovely quiet place and staff are brill

Visited Friday lunch. It is a stone built pub, mild outside but was cold inside. Fairly extensive menu with good choices. One fish pie and one minted lamb pie. Bit of a wait but the meals were hot, well cooked and tasty. Good pint of cask beer. Go to pay, bill was £36.40 so offered two twenty pound notes. I was then asked if I wanted the change, yes I do was the answer. What cheek, lost a tip there.

Booked a table so we could be sure to get our friend in with his wheelchair. Very nice friendly staff, lovely food and drinks. We stayed a while chatting after our food and weren't pressured to leave until we were ready.

Amazing place. Great home cooked food in a traditional old building. Had the Cumberland ring with mash and peppercorn sauce and my partner had the lasagne. Both were gorgeous. We had the cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding and they were amazing too. £56 for two mains, two desserts and three soft drinks. That’s excellent value in my opinion and will be going back.

50/50 Experience. Very nice atmosphere in the pub, with a very varied selection of beverages and a wide selection on the menu, HOWEVER the food arrival is extremely slow, we waiting approximately 1Hr -1.15Hrs for 4 very basic meals, which were of average quality. Price is average and service was good. Nice venue to visit as somewhere different. Sure we will be back soon.

The place looks ok from the outside. Could do with some money spent on thw car park. Food said home made which looked liked pre packed frozen food. I could of gone to the charnley at standish and got better. Then our desert got lost. Wasnt worth the money.

First time we called since before lock down the food was fine if a little over priced but 45 minutes for the starter and another 30 for the mains when there was only 4 other tables of 2 dining seams a long wait

I simply cannot fault this hidden gem. The service here is fantastic with extremely friendly and welcoming staff. There is often a long wait for food but the food here is the best in the business so it’s definitely worth the wait. It’s a quiet and cosy place to have a nice afternoon or evening with friends!

I wish I’d read the reviews before I came. My husband and I were seated next to the very dirty and slightly smelly fish tank. Feeling sorry for the diseased fish covered in black algae. However, unlike the previous poster I thought the fish was real… yep, spent most of the meal concerned for its welfare , even contemplated contacting the RSPCA ( perhaps slightly dramatic in hindsight). LUCKILY I read the reviews on here before following up my welfare report…. The fish is plastic!!! Wouldn’t I have felt a fool! 😂 However, this gives you an idea of how dirty the tank was, couldn’t even decipher if the fish was real or not! Great food, great staff but for goodness sake get rid of the tank!

Delicious, hearty pub food. Freshly cooked in house and a warm, cosy atmosphere inside. Friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommended but book beforehand as the place gets busy and is popular. The Sunday roasts are recommended.

Food average as expected in the pub.

Great looking pub, the interior is really quite impressive and generally well presented. Sadly I was seated next to a fish tank that was empty aside from algae and a sorry looking plastic fish. This really detracted from the whole experience of eating out. I had the burger as a main which was ok but overpriced for the quality. The sticky toffee pudding I had for dessert was top notch though.

First and last time here, ordered a Sunday dinner ate all of it apart from the Yorkshire pudding and it was pretty tasty and then saw the Yorkshire pudding had mould on both mine and my partners meal, the staff member told me it was a mark from the oven and wasn’t mould. To which the mould was speckled and cooked in the Yorkshire pudding when the batter was pulled apart. As we was leaving the staff member wanted us to pay for the remaining I said definitely not as my dinner was ruined and I could become ill if any other food went un noticed and contaminated. The staff member proceeded to tell me they buy there Yorkshire puddings in, if this is the case I wouldn’t be arguing with the customer I would be concerned to contact your supplier as it could be a problem of theres. Really disappointed as it was a lovely pub apart from the food.

Nice pub, not keen on frozen chips and frozen veg. The salmon, braised steak and beef was excellent. Chilli con carne would have been nicer with half chips and half rice as requested, but staff said they couldn’t do half and half?

One of the few local old school country pubs with character and charm left. Food top notch,sensible prices,lovely welcoming professional staff and open fires blazing in the winter. Perfect!

Fantastic food, staff really friendly. Reasonable price, the portions are on the large size and quality is great. The pub itself is beautiful, especially on the upper part. Lots of parking, you can stay overnight in the car park if you're in a campervan or motor home.

Amazing place and lovely staff, very welcoming and the place is run beautifully. Stayed a night with Britstops. Speaker outside will be heard from any part of the carpark so don’t expect an early nights sleep as the outside speaker was on till 11pm. (Quiz night with music after thurs) Foods was top price for its quality, (£15) sausage was a little thin average tasting and in parts was overcooked on the underside and just tasted of over cooked casing. It was ok but little lacking. Other food passing did look incredible, and would definitely come back to try more. :)

A gem of a pub, lovely food and staff.

Had a superb meal, and everyone else in our party enjoyed theirs. The waitresses were very knowledgeable and very friendly, we are definitely going to return!

Lovely place. Oldy-worldy decor fits with such an old building. Lots of parking. Lots of room inside and out. A marquee at the rear looks very inviting. Perfect for a party. Good selection on the menu but a little short on Vegetarian options. Stilton and mushroom pie is delicious if filling is rather rich. Finished the last 2 forkfulls and wished I had not, but It tasted soooo good. Have to say it looked as though it was a filling, put into a pie dish with a pre-made top, both looked to have been cooked separately, then assembled. We also had a chicken burger and a Hallumi burger - both reported as 'succulent' and 'tasty', respectively. Our bill was just short of £50 for 3 meals and 3 drinks, mains only. We discovered The White Crow from being Brit Stops members and so stayed over in the carpark in our Mo-ho. Good food, well kept Madri, lovely staff and somewhere to park - what more could you ask. The White Crow is highly recommended by our family. We hope to return.

Food is top notch, proper homecooked, delicious, friendly staff, no snobbery as we were pretty rowdy and enjoying ourselves, very kid friendly, it's rare to find a place of this quality these days

Great location, beautiful views, and amazing food

On arrival we ordered our drinks, 1 pint caffereys(my husbands favourite) 1/2:pint bitter and 1 none alcohol gin(as I was designated driver) then we ordered our meals. 2 8oz Rump steaks with chips and veg 1 steak and ale pie with chips and veg All staff very friendly and smiley especially our waitress Daisy who was very attentive ,she asked if everything was alright with our meals,I said yes but my 92 year old dad was struggling abit to chew his steak, No quibbles she said would he like an alternative or a refund and he swopped his steak for the steak and ale pie which he enjoyed and managed better. Followed by desserts, 2 bailey's cheesecakes with ice cream 1 jam sponge and custard All very nice followed by coffees,which were generous and hot. Excellent service will be back.

We arrived when the restaurant was at less than 50% capacity. We were told it was table service and there were around 5 staff serving. We placed our order, got our drinks, and then waited. We finished our first drinks and ordered our second and still no sign of our starter. After an hour I went to the bar to ask, to see that tables that were empty when we arrived were now full and eating their mains. Our ticket had been lost. The waitress informing us of this offered no apology but re-took our order and said it wouldn't take too long. Our shared starter arrived quite soon, and was good to be fair (baked camembert). The mains arrived promptly after we'd finished the starter. My wife had the peppered beef pie and I had the mixed grill. The pie was a serving of filling in a pie dish with a puff pastry crust on top. Edible but not great. My mixed grill was served on a huge plate which was one third full of chips and peas, lots of peas. The steak was over done and powdery, like a frozen steak. The half a chicken breast was OK. The gammon was equally lacklustre. Overall quite disappointing. The manageress offered us a free drink to make up for the wait, and the unapologetic waitress did offer an apology when we paid and took 15% off. Despite this, we wouldn't eat here again, not entirely because of them losing the ticket or the food being sub par, but because for an hour staff frequently walked past our table and failed to think it odd that we had no food despite having been there so long. Nice place. Poor food. Bad service.

Amazing food, a bit overpriced, but the service was great. If you like to eat out, and like a good pub lunch, this is the place to go.

Superb food excellent venue would highly recommend

A great pub/restaurant, not remotely pretentious, but with quality throughout, in a pleasant rural setting. Service is helpful and attentive but never intrusive. Convivial but always professional. An excellent menu of traditional dishes, perfectly cooked and making extensive use of locally sourced ingredients. A friend and I have been working through the available choices for many visits, and neither of us has found a dish we would not be happy to be served again. Extensive parking, including disabled slots adjacent to the building. There is level access with wide doors into one section of the dining area for those with mobility difficulties, although the bar and remainder of the space are a couple of steps down (I haven't tried getting a chair over the single step at the front entrance, but I wouldn't be surprised to find it possible - ring ahead for advice). A gem.
