Directly facing the railway station. Bright interior. Generous mini-fry breakfast. Fresh coffee. Good service. Excellent spot for train users. Chairs a tad uncomfortable, but that might just be me.

Unfortunately we cannot comment on the quality of the food as after a 45 minute wait we checked when our food would be ready only to be told the order hadn’t even reached the kitchen. Wouldn’t normally mind however I needed to return to work. Poor show Whistlestop! Won’t return and sincerely hope the service in your new Kings Road cafe is an improvement.

We visited this wonderful welcoming place for breakfast with our dog Lucy. Great to find a doggy friendly cafe in such beautiful surroundings. We've been before and with such a warm welcome for us and our dog we'll certainly return. Breakfast menu very exciting and we were very satisfied with great portions. Lucy enjoyed her sausage too. Thank you.

Had a pot of tea, their small fry, and a piece of lime drizzle coconut cake for dessert. I do like a proper fry with beans and mushrooms. Loved all the food, plus the atmosphere in here. It’s a cosy diner. Chairs are very comfortable. The staff are great company. They score a maximum 5 out of 5 for their Food Standards Agency hygiene rating. The bill for three of us eating main courses, desserts, and pots of tea or coffee was just £30.65. My tea pot was huge, and they refilled it while I was distracted by artwork. The have lots to see in a gift shop by the windows. The painted rocks by Marita Prendy are a marvel. Its called Love & Kind Gifts. Paintings, cards, stuff from local artisans. Worth a browse.

Great place to eat. Very sunny bank of windows giving a view across the new railway garden with its amazing bird boxes made by Carrick Men’s Shed. Beyond is the marvel that is Whitehead train station, 1877 with additions in the 1890s. Beyond that is a forest of Victorian chimneys from the buildings by the sea. A vista like no other. They have outside tables. Dog friendly, they’ll give your dog a great box of water. A very cute dachshund was there during our visit. Their score-on-the-doors hygiene rating is a perfect 5/5. Do note what daily specials they tell you about. There might be anything on offer for the day from beef mince and pork sausage stew served with a buttery Belfast bap; to broccoli and smoked applewood soup, free from dairy, gluten, soya and lactose. This time I went for an old favourite, the lasagne. That was very good, but I must tell you about the chips. They were the greatest chips I’ve ever had anywhere. I’m old, I’ve eaten LOTS of chips. These topped them all. Someone with me had the chicken burger, and it was a stack of joy. Something trivial. Too many restaurants have tables with giant feet so my feet have nowhere to go. Not here. Their table leg had a slender cross-shaped foot that gave my feet all the floor they needed. Excellent. Highly recommended.

Took a group of neurodivergient/differently able bodied individuals here as part of a day out and it was fantastic. The staff were very hospitable, the place was very clean and food went down well. Couldn't say a bad word about the place. Would definitely recommend I as a handy stop. Very reasonably priced as well.

This wee delight of a place used to be perfect for afternoon lunch but after my visit today I doubt I'll be back. Waited for 55 mins for food to be brought when I observed other tables who had arrived after us being served first. The order was a fry, panini and 2 salads....so no cooking required for those 2 dishes. When the food was served an excuse of an apology was given which really qa wasnt acceptable given we waited nearly an hour at lunchtime...lucky we weren't understand time pressure. The prices have increased considerably too and the portion sizes have definitely got smaller when a caeser salad is £10.80 and not much eating it and a panini was under filled for £8.80...,not good at all. In fairness the fry was adequate. Don't think ill be back. Which is a shame

I didn’t need any time to decide what to order, because on a chalk board the descriptions of the soup of the day and panini of the day were so tempting. They were a fantastic meal, and only £10.20p. Service? Staff are very good. Place was popular, lots of diners inside for their Tuesday lunch time. I went outside to enjoy the sunshine. Where else can you eat with a view of mini goats? Lots of outside seating, plus a sturdy canvas awning in case the outside gets any rain. I parked for free on the road outside, in a lay by just yards from the entrance. They have their own free 6-space car park, too. They score a maximum 5 out of 5 for their Food Standards Agency hygiene rating. Something was softly clucking in the low bushes by the seating area. Two dazzling, iridescently plumed chickens were in there. Eventually they walked out and around some of the tables. Utterly glorious creatures. I didn’t have the heart to tell them what was in my panini. Chicken tikka.

Very clean cafe. Good value large breakfast £6:50 including brewed coffee or tea. Very pleasant staff. Food fired on a griddle and not greasy. Also a very good home bakery. Pavlova looks amazing…
