Had a fish supper and single fish. Chips were excellent but the fish was extremely greasy. Very busy at the time but fish not allowed to drain for a few minutes. Disappointed.

Queued up for roughly 30 minutes for takeaway. One member of staff took our order, but my wife changed her mind. When we got to the front of the queue, I informed the staff member serving of the item change. She looked at me like I was speaking a different language. Eventually sorted it. At no point in our 40 minute visit were we given a smile, or a "hello". The food was average - not bad, but not great either. With average food and absolutely awful customer service it is a wonder they've won so many awards. I'd recommend people try somewhere else, as there is most certainly better chippies in the surrounding area.

Brilliant, very busy and we booked for lunch ( advise booking). My wife ordered smoked haddock and I ordinary haddock with portion of onion rings. It arrived with lovely fresh artisan bread together with butter and tea pot ( my wife had flavoured at no extra charge ) for each of us. We asked for tartare sauce which was home made and they didn’t charge extra. We found the staff very helpful and pleasant. Well done the Wee Chippy we will be back and you beat other fish and chip restaurants hands down. It was absolutely delicious. I can’t believe any of the bad comments and you shouldn’t either. Try for yourself and make your own mind up about the premises I know you won’t be disappointed.

We went here especially after hearing of its award winning food. What a disaster. The staff were disinterested and got the order wrong repeatedly. The fish when it came was overcooked and so thin we couldn't even tell what kind of fish it was and had to ask for confirmation, and such a small portion compared to what we have had previously at the Waterfront and the Anstruther fish bar. You don't get a choice of fish here either and it doesn't state on the menu if it's haddock or not. The chips were average and the bread was hard. The best thing we had was the cappuccino. Sad to say for what is supposed to be the best chippy in Scotland. Frankly going by our visit today it isn't even the best chippy in Anstruther. We won't be back.

To start we were going to go the more famous Anstruther Fish Bar but when we asked about Gluten Free we were advised there is a menu but when pushed an GF battered Fish were told next GF day will be nearer the end of the summer ! So we ended up here and we can see how the the Wee Chippy are the current award winners. GF Battered Fish and Chips every day and according to my wife and her clean plate the best she has ever had. Portion was a fish and a half so not small and do a wee deal including bread butter drink and mushy peas or beans ! Definitely the one to go to in Anstruther but book if you want dinner at the weekend as people who did not sadly had to be turned away or go to their take away and sit outside. Lots of seats outside on first come first service for those taking away

After being disappointed with the fare in our usual Anstruther chippy we thought we would give The Wee Chippy a try, Fish supper was average ,poor portion of chips with it, Black pudding supper was OK but again chips were a disappointment...not a lot of them and what was there was of poor quality.... too many hard little chips...expensive ....don't mind paying for decent grub.....maybe try another establishment next time we visit.

The gluten free fish and chips was very good. We ate in. The service was good. But the one thing that will stop me eating in again is the tin dinner ware. Not a fan. Especially as i had to ask to have the tin mug changed as the enamel was worn down completely on the lip rim. The side plates are deep like soup plates, and gf bread fell to pieces trying to butter it at an angle.

We visit the Fife coast every so often including for a good fish supper and this is now our chippy of choice. Tasty fish in a good firm, crispy (not soggy) batter and lovely chips. Same for the chicken goujons. There's also a good range of other options on the menu and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant was full when we arrived (in mid-evening) so we opted for a takeaway and sat outside the chippy which was fine. The same kitchen area serves the restaurant and takeaway at the same time so speed of service can fluctuate but we didn't have to wait too long and it was well worth it.

We visit the East Neuk every 6 months or so and always stop in Anstruther for a stroll about and some fish and chips. We normally go to the Wee Chippy’s more famous competitor along the road but decided to roll the dice and give the The Wee Chippy a try. I can honestly say that the fish and chips we had kicked anything we’ve had in Anstruther into the long grass. Freshly fried fish with batter that shattered like glass exposing nicely steamed fish and crispy dry chips were complimented by homemade tartar sauce. I highly recommend this chippy over any others in the area and, to be honest, never thought I’d ever say that.

Been to the Wee Chippy 3 times in the space of 3 months. Love a trip to the Eastern side of Fife and love to end the day with a chippy.First time we went to the chippy we had our orders taken in the queue by one of the waitresses (tidy). Very organized to keep the orders coming out as quick as possible. However, we were attacked by the old boot living across the road. While waiting in the line the heavens opened on us, presumed to be water but as it turns out it was the old woman across the road who chucked a basin of liquid all over us, soaking me and my pals. As it turns out this is not the first time she has done this, in fact it's the 3rd time she's done it so if you are going for a fish supper remember your umbrella. Police were called and was taken care of. However, the emotional scarring will never heal. I thought to myself, 2 can play that game. My friends and I then proceed to throw out cigarette butts in her plant pots. The food was fantastic but felt like they were a bit stingy with the chips.

I know that there is a chip shop along the road that gets tons of publicity for being the best chip shop in the area however, I totally disagree. The wee chippy is the chip shop to go to. A great fish supper at cheaper non gold trimmed prices. I would rather spend my well earned dosh on somewhere that actually gives good value for your money. Resist the big boys along the road and grab your supper at the wee chippy

Always on the hunt for a quality gluten free fish supper i thought i would have a drive through to Anstruther to try the Wee Chippy after reading good reviews. I can tell you it was well worth the drive. The best gluten free fish and chips i have had. Bonus points for the massive gluten free onion rings. Staff were very clued up about the gluten free and pointed out the vinegar on the table wasnt for me but they had gf vinegar through in the kitchen. Another wee bonus ! My partner had the normal fish and chips and said there was hardly any difference in taste between mine and hers. There was a few other chippy favourites offered on the gluten free menu aswell. I would highly recommend and i will be going back in the very near future.

The fish supper was mediocre. The portion control for chips was a bit stingy and the fish was already in the glass cabinet when I arrived. Prefer my fish to be cooked on order. The mushy peas came in a very small container and the whole meal was a higher than average cost for the area. I’m lucky as I live local and can pick and choose. It was ok but I left a little disappointed.

Spent the day in St Andrews with my boys and our dog . We always end such a trip to Anstruther and always go to The Wee Chippy and the fish and chips are always lovely. Today queued for 40 mins ( which is expected these days) but as I was standing in the shop saw food left in the hot plate for at least 20 mins ( burgers and chicken nuggets ) and saw the server handling the food not wearing any gloves .The fish supper was cold and the batter and fish was so dry and crisp that we woke the dog with our crunching ! The chips were hard AND soggy. The restaurant was full and it just seemed to me they weren’t coping and this was reflected in the standard of the food . We gave some to the dog, she didn’t eat it either ! So disappointed .

We actually went to Anstruther as there's another chippy nearby that's really well reviewed. However they were adhering to strict social distancing and therefore couldn't let anybody else in, so we went here. All I can say is, if there's a chip shop anywhere better than this, I can't even imagine what it's like! The service here was perfect, and if you are the type to be concerned about COVID-19, there's perspex screens between each table. The food was unbelievable - I ordered basic fish and chips and I got two large pieces of perfectly cooked fish in batter, golden brown chips, mushy peas, bread and butter, and a mug of tea. I also ordered curry sauce and it was the best I've ever tasted. My partner had deep fried haggis which he devoured as it was so scrummy! We had cold drinks too and the whole thing came to just £21 for two of us. It was perfect! I absolutely want to visit Anstruther again just so I can come here - I'm already dreaming of my return! ❤️

The interior is really nice and the service was great, we had a coeliac and someone without allergies, we were both catered for perfectly. My coeliac partner had gluten free scampi and chips and it was great, they even knew that their normal ketchup offer was not gluten free so gave us Heinz sachets. I just had a portion of chips and a brew. The only feedback was the tea wasn’t great, it was quite weak and lacking in flavour but absolutely everything else was spot on.

We regularly holiday in the East Neuk of Fife and recently decided to eat here. Our young son has a very severe nut and peanut allergy so eating out can often be a huge worry. However when we asked the staff about catering for his dietary needs, they were personable and allayed our fears, advising that they could guarantee him a meal of his choice with no potential cross contamination and traces of nuts and ensured all surfaces were cleaned throughly prior to it's preparation. We were served our food promptly and it was absolutely delicious. There are several similar restaurants nearby however based on the above and the very reasonable pricing, we'll definitely be back on our next trip to Fife.

Visited The Wee Chippie after returning from an Isle of May boat trip to see the puffins - so arrived at near peak time for all the fish and chip shops in town. We picked this one after seeing the mixed reviews for their biggest competitor.Like all the chippies in Anstruther, the takeaway queue was huge - but if you want to sit outside then you have to endure it! Instead we opted to sit inside and were quickly seated in a nearly full restaurant. There ware plenty of staff, and our order for two fish & chip teas was taken quickly along with our contact details. Bread & butter and a big pot of tea were quick to come, but we had to wait quite a long time for our food.At £10.50 for a good-sized portion of fish & chips, plus beans or mushy peas, a slice of bread & butter, and a hot drink, I thought this was excellent value for money.

Four of us had three fish and chips, and one scampi and chips. We were offered drinks, bread and butter and mushy peas. The lunches came quickly. The fish had a nice crispy batter and was decent sized. Chips good and tasty - chip shop style. Nice peas, bread and butter and tea. All served in rustic enamel white and blue. Great lunch at less than £10 per person with smily service.

We very rarely go out for something to eat but my gran was over visiting. She loves a bit Haddock in batter. Well, as to be expected the Haddock supper was delicious and we all scoffed it up!Would highly recommend The Wee Chippy to anyone.

We decided to give The Wee Chippy a try during a two night break in Anstruther. What a good decision it was! We ate in the restaurant, which was very quiet on a Thursday night, but the take away was busy. We have eaten in nearby chippies in the past, but this was definitely the best, both in taste and value. The fish tea was excellent. Beautiful white fish in a delicious crispy batter. The restaurant itself is cosy and nicely decorated. The enamel tableware is a nice touch. Will be our "must go" chippy when we are next in the area. Highly recommended.

We ate in here for dinner as since our last visit this has been closed as a chip shop and reopened as a Fish and Chip restaurant with carry out facilities now at the side up the lane, it has been well fitted out and the decor is just right for this location at the shore front, the meals we had were good, Fish and Chips and Sausage supper washed down with mugs of tea served in a retro metal Teapot and mugs, well worth visiting if you are visiting Anstruther.

We arrived tired after a coastal walk on New Years Eve to a warm welcome and the most delicious fish and chip meal. The chips were all cooked to perfection - crunchy and soft inside the fish batter crispy all over (NO soggy bottom!) and the fish so fresh and tasty. The meal is traditional with a hot drink, bread and butter and we choose mushy peas - which was an ample portion.

My wife and I called in for a quick supper. It was our first visit since the restaurant reopened following a complete refurbishment. Everything inside was spotless and unusually for a fish and chip restaurant, there was no smell of frying. The menu was comprehensive and included gluten free batter which is perfect for my wife who has a severe wheat intolerance. She had fish and chips and said that the batter was light and crispy and the haddock was delicious. Apparently gluten free options are always available here. I had a haggis supper and this was all delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant for both sit-in meals or take away food. In my opinion this is the best fish and chip shop in the area.

In the last year or so this chippy burnt down and I can't think anything other than it was a scam. Now the new chippy has risen from it's ashes its not the only thing that's risen. I was there today and ordered 2 teas to take away, 2 portions of chips and a single portion of sausage. £11.70 ??? The sausage alone was £3.70 and no bigger than my index finger. Absolutely shamful. Not satisfied I returned to the counter and returned the sausage stating I would not gratify eating it at this price. The older male at the counter wasn't really bothered and gave out some exuses. They offered me my money back of which I said I don't want the money it's the principle. So I then accepted the payment but the staff didn't know how to operate the til to return the payment. A younger man from the kitchen came out to return the money paid. He didn't even ask why or anything or even look at me. I assumed he was one of the owners. He blanked me the whole time. As they say FISH is always more expensive when bought at the sea side. Another example of overpriced small portion rip off food establishment. This business thrives on the fact that British culture is not to complain to the people who need it but to each other. I for one shall never return to this establishment. I did feel sorry for the female staff who felt powerless to assist. No doubt they are on Zero hour shameless contracts too. JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH

We ate here after we saw the queue at the other chippy. Was fairly quiet. Everything on the menu was pretty much fried, would be good if you could choose something like a salad and or sandwich. Fish and scampi were nice.

For years now on our visits to East Neuk we always end up at Anstruther for Fish and Chips takeaway. We now use The Wee Chippy as we find the fish suppers more tasty compared to its more famous 'Big brother' along the road. Reasonable price. Has had a refurb in recent months with a new seating area.

food briliant, very quiet but servuice was still not brilliant for some reason.sort of typical saturday staff, going through motions etc, pleasant but not really sharp and ON IT. Not well trained in my view. But who cares, not a huge issue and the fish and chips were great

What a disappointment not been in a while so had full breakfast bacon done on a grill that needs a good clean covered in black bits that had to get scraped off and it wasn’t meant to be like that toast wasn’t sourdough like you were told one of us had poached well that’s what it was meant to be tea was horrible cappuccino was cold did complain be just got a blank stare definitely not be back

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

What a venue !! Charming with a historical room to be seen to be believed (clipper room) ! I cannot say enough about the owners and staff who made me feel welcomed and could not do enough ! I was there for a music gig with friends and the music room venue was brilliant , atmospheric and intimate ! The hotel is in a lovely location with historical sites , coastal walks and a golf course nearby.

When the weather turns cold, shops closed, you don’t want a restaurant, just a cuppa, Alexander and George will make you welcome. Enticed by the chips! Feel much better now. Thanks guys!

Having always enjoyed meals at The Doll’s House we imagined this was a mere name change, and were drawn in by the offer of a reasonably priced set menu all day Wednesday and Thursday. Inside the decor was smart enough and the waitress pleasant. However they were unaware of the set menu offer clearly advertised outside, and then said they’d still put our meal through at that price so long as we didn’t order anything expensive ! This wasn’t easy as five dishes were already sold out by 7.30, leaving little choice. The soups were ok, as was my deer, but my wife’s ratatouille was the most ridiculous item I’ve ever seen offered as main dish- three slices of undercooked courgette, a few tomatoes swimming in a watery sauce. We skipped desserts and were presented with a bill of £72, the manager having forgotten her promise. On appeal she applied a discount, but £58 was still very expensive for an experience that could charitably be described as poor. I’d steer well clear - there is no shortage of places to eat in St Andrews.
