Great pub with excellent food . Good quality food being served . We had homemade soup of the day and it was delicious. I noticed all the other lunches going out looked very nice. Staff were very welcoming and the location is brilliant. I loved it.

Amazing food We returned from Preston specially and it did not disappoint I had the Club sandwich and my partner had fish & chips Superb! Highly recommended!

What a great place for lunch. Ideally situated along the canal with plenty of seating outside if the weather is good.

Beautiful pub, great setting, brilliant dog menu. The beer isn't exactly the cheapest but it was the best pint I've had in Lancaster so worth every penny.

First visit to The Waterwitch. Only be chance we saw a sign. It had a relaxing atmosphere, with friendly staff. The food was really good. Definitely visit again if in the area.

Really nice chips, nice vegan selection and they clearly take gluten free safety seriously. Very good selection of cider and nice atmosphere.

Went for lunch with my daughter who has severe allergies. The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating. They made my daughter feel very safe which is rare these days. The food was excellent too.

Lovely place and fab location. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Food was in good portion sizes and tasty. We had a slight issue with one of the meals but the staff sorted it quickly with no fuss

Popped in for a pint with my son on his birthday as he's at the uni close by. A selection of cask ales are available and the food menu has a lunchtime option until 5pm which was great. Open fire in the pub was nice and they lit it for us (despite setting the smoke alarm off!) bar staff lovely and knowledgeable about the beers. Nice setting on the canal. Very relaxed. Will return.

Buying an expensive steak should not come with a really dried up mushroom past its sell by date and this is not the first time I've experienced this as its on and off

Proper boozer with a good selection of beers, right on the canal too so looking forward to coming back when the sun is out!

Went for a nice meal over the Christmas Period. Food was very nice, and staff were extremely helpful. Can not fault, highly recommend.

Nice pub, decent grub, by the canal, just gets very busy which can lead to longer waiting times. Outside can be difficult for walking if using sticks or with buggies/wheelchair etc and busy with clientele drinking/eating at canalside tables.

Great value for money , i had scampi and chips with peas off the lunchtime menu and it was very nice.

Nice canal side bar that does food. we did not eat on this visit but it had an impressive selection of cask ales and keg lager. Helpful staff talking though the choice of ales. lots of outdoor door seats on the towpath that is dog friendly

delicious food and amazing service, with a nice relaxed atmosphere. adam recommended a really good beer to us which was exactly what we were after. steak pie is always spot on

Very good tasty food, large menu with a lot of options and availability, from snacks\light bites, sandwiches to full main meals and all reasonably priced. The hanging kebabs were very nice along with the loaded chilli nachos. The 10oz gammon steak was large and cooked to perfection, able to exchange the pineapple for additional fried egg. Excellent beer, wine and spirit selection. Number of cask ales available with samples on the bar showing colour range - from light to dark. Chalkboard detailing cask ale information and details of the available wines. Lot of seating and light and airy. Number of outdoor tables, seating right on the canal side. There was a slight wait on food which the staff were apologetic for when it arrived. Staff very welcoming and friendly.

Lovely old canalside inn full of charm and atmosphere, even on a drizzly October evening. Good choice of cask and craft beers. A short walk from the town.

I just loved this spot, I’m coming back every weekend now. The staff is very friendly and the food is good, but what really got my attention was totally the viewing!

Nice waterside venue, but pricey though

Sat outside by the canal on a sunny day and it was delightful. Not really changed in over 20 years. just as good now as it was then. I wish I lived in Lancaster.

First off I didn’t notice it mentioned in reviews but this restaurant is nearly impossible to find. It’s across the canal so directions will bring you to it but from ACROSS the canal so you don’t see and don’t know why you keep missing it and you’ll drive around lost for ten minutes until you figure that out. There’s a little walking bridge you take and then you’re at the location. It’s a cool old building low ceilings and long rooms you sit where you want and order at the bar. Food was very good, beer in casks is room temperature and their onion rings are perfection, fish and chips was a bit bland but only complaint to have.

A great place and the canal boats moored outside just made it even better. The list of real Ales available is unbelievable, with information on what ones are coming next. Enjoyed sitting outside and the pictures etc inside telling the history is very interesting.

Great food and lovely pub but poor service, came here for Sunday lunch and was so good that we returned for dinner but were told to move our food into takeaway boxes as the kitchen wanted their plates back? felt rushed and let down what had been a lovely day having eaten here twice. No fault to front of house staff as they are only doing what the kitchen say.

Arrived at opening. Had the steak and cheese panini, was very good. The steak can get unevenly distributed but you can easily fix that. Fast service too and lovely view of the canal.

Nice pub by the side of the canal, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good on a sunny day. Beer kept well and a good selection on at the time of visiting. A reliable one suitable for all types of visitor- families, groups, couples etc etc.

Paid £16.99 for fish n chips. 17 chips on plate, the fish was a cheap white fish, not cod or haddock. Do not order this they are taking the piss.

I had the vegan pizza and I’ve not had a dough like that before the base was so light and fluffy and the base sauce was lovely! We sat and enjoyed a few hours outside by the canal. This is such a dog friendly pub they sell doggy ice cream and meals for the dog! Large selection of ales too!

Good selection of lagers, ales and ciders. Attentive, friendly staff. A nice spot with some evening sunshine beside the canal. It was burger night and we all enjoyed our burgers. Would definitely hesd back. The menu was broad as well as a whole Gouten Free menu. Alas I was too late for the Club Sandwich!

Been to uni to visit daughter was recommended here and can I just say I am up there with the fussiest of eaters but this place hit the spot we arrived before a rush so didn’t have too long to wait for our meals and safe to say it didn’t disappoint everything came out freshly cooked and good portion sizes we will be coming again on my next visit for sure…

A great pub in a lovely location. Settled next to the canal just outside the town center, The Waterwitch offers a varied menu of gastropub classics along with a great selection of beers, ales and ciders. The staff are very friendly, the service is great and when the sun is shining, grabbing a picnic bench outside next to the canal is a great way to while away an afternoon with friends.

The Waterwitch never lets me down. Three of us went for dinner on Good Friday: really varied menu for both meat eaters and veggies and the food was great. Good wine and beer selection too.There's always a warm, inviting atmosphere. A little haven.

We were greeted by a member of staff who told us to sit at table 16, my party and I had no prior knowledge of their seating system, and were told to sit on that “table in the corner”. We told to order at the bar which we were content with, however, when I went up to order for my friends and I, the service was appalling, the man serving me was completely uninterested in what I was saying, he was continually engaging in what seemed like gossip with his fellow coworker, while a paying customer was stood right in front of him. I was not told whether I needed to wait for my drinks or not so I decided to wait, while this occurred, my server continued his gossip session, at which point I interrupted to ask for my receipt, which seemed like an inconvenience to him. I sat and then the food came out which is where things took a turn. My friends gluten free fish and chips was fine, my other friend and I order the same meal of Pork Belly, one meal was smaller and had a portion of crackling, one looked like a plimsole with no crackling and no flavour. The “seasonal veg” served was clearly from a freezer bag, and overall the food was bad. This could’ve been amended with one simple thing, a check back, yet nothing of the sort occurred. The staff seemed more concerned with gathering behind the bar to sample their ice cream and talk to one another, no one acknowledged us as we left, I will not be returning. For an £82 spend, the service at McDonalds would’ve been a much better choice for a Good Friday meal. The music playlist was enjoyable.

Great place to eat drink and relax.

Four time now me and a colleague have been there and had the carbonara. Usually lovely but last nights was a bit weird. Watery and with no cream (my colleague told me that proper Carbonara doesn't have cream). Anyway it left me feeling queasy. Will try again though.

It is a fantastic place to eat, I had a vegetarian lasagna and the cheesecake and both were superb. The attention we had from the waiters was unmatched we had a large party of people but they took all this in hand easily. The overall range of food choice and the amount of ales and cider was stunning

Not busy..food was not very good at all..garlic bread at £9.50.pizza size was awful..more like a dry poppadom it was that crispy..vedge was cold steak n guinnes pie was overcooked and dry....a new chef would not go a miss..great location..no atmosphre as was not busy...looks like a lot of students use the pub..msinly sat outside next to the canal..if the food was sorted here..the place would be bouncing..

Seriously beautiful interior and location. During sunny days, the outside is a hotspot for people to come and enjoy without fail.

Told there was no wait on food.... so paid for 4 drinks. . got a menu.went straight back to the bar to order food...... then told theres a 45 min wait on food.The tables outside were very dirty....apart from that it a nice pub!

Lovely traditional pub, serving great food with a good selection of beers and ciders. Had the tandoori chicken skewer which was very tasty. Positioned on the canal side its a great place for both eating and just chilling with a pint.

The food was very tasty. I enjoyed the gluten free Cajun chicken burger. They have great options for gluten free diet and even dairy free.

Thanks to Sunday trading hours meaning Aldi was shut I saw some lights across the canal and 'discovered' the Water Witch. What a fantastic place! A wide range of beers and ciders and all the top shelf bottles you'd expect. There are also guest beers and I tried some Duct Tape Tuxedo.. A lovely hoppy beer. There's a great menu for lunch and for dinner which I'll explore another time. There's also a children's menu. It's dog friendly but keep your best friend on a leash. Seating is nice indoors and outdoors on the tow path. The staff are super welcoming and helpful and willing to tell you about drinks options and the range of non alcoholic drinks available. This is one of those places that makes Lancaster such a great place to visit or live. Highly recommended.

went for valentine’s day. Staff and atmosphere was lovely, but food quite underwhelming. My partner ordered the mussels and there was absolutely no sauce to it which was ironic with the amount of bread you get given for dipping lol. My fish and chips was okay- the batter was quite greasy though, and i picked through it as it was a bit nauseating ( maybe the oil was old ??). i’ve had much better in the past from here, so was quite disappointed.
