The Virgin Queen in Hackney

Our air bnb was right across the street from this restaurant but didn’t get a chance to go until the night before we left. Had a Sunday roast with assorted meats and was outstanding. Capped off a great trip

We went to the Virgin Queen for our yearly Christmas Dinner. The food was fantastic and the staff could not have been more lovely and accommodating. A special mention to Becky, who might just be the best publican/ host I’ve ever come across. What a lady! The real gem in this Virgin Queen’s crown!

Came here on a v busy sunday looking for a roast, no booking. It was rammed but they still took us as long as we were able to wait a bit for food. The roasts were so good - a plate piled high with all the trimmings of a good roast, including crackling, and with v generous servings of gravy. Already love this pub for a pint but was v happy on this first occasion trying their food too!

This pub is the perfect example of what's wrong with London, and the reviews calling it a 'proper pub' and 'exactly what a pub should be' couldn't be further from the mark. This used to be a proper pub - the Albion. The current owners forced it to close. It was heaving every weekend with locals watching football, paying a reasonable price for a pint and putting the world to rights. Now it serves the same standard pub grub you can get anywhere and at Shoreditch prices. A shadow of its former self and a disservice to the area. What a shame that the five star reviewers on here never experienced it back when it was a decent pub

Being from Oklahoma, I was wanting to sample a British Pub and this just hit the spot! We all enjoyed fish and chips and a pint! Exceeded my expectations! Nice indoor and outdoor dining and a very friendly staff.
