Lovely as usual, very busy but still very friendly

Since Bubs sold the business on the new owners has let standards and quality slip. The chicken is horrid and rubbery. We as a family have been coming to the village lodge for over 12 years and never had a bad meal. Since the beginning of the year we have had issues with every meal ate there. Bring back the old owners and quality of food. Shame as we loved eating here but not no more.

Since Bubs sold to new owners the food quality has dropped dramatically and the chicken especially the tikka is rubbery and tasteless. I would happily pay more to keep the quality the same standard but this isn’t the case. We have been regular customers for over 12 years as we live In The village. However since the new year every time we have ate there there has been an issue with the chicken causing us to believe the quality has dropped and so has our visits there. Sad to say we won’t be booking anytime soon unless the standard of the food changes or Bubs returns.

We live locally but never tried this Indian till last night, and it we were very happy we did go. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was excellent, we had starters and main. The food was served hot and the portions were large, much bigger portions than where we normally go! Prices are very reasonable for the area, and it’s a take your own drinks place. Glad we gave it a go and will be going back and making it our regular place from now on 👍

I have been going to The Village Lodge since it opened in 2007.I have many favourites but really like Salmon Sag Aloo (slightly hot). Great food and friendly staff . Take your own alcohol makes it for a cheap night 👍

Lovely little restaurant with great food and good service. Can definitely recommend the chicken and mushroom Balti and the stuffed mushrooms.

I used to go a few years back and never had a bad meal unfortunately i shall not return curry i had was thick and very velvety texture i could of stood my spoon up in the consistency of the sauce such a shame its gone bad

We visited the Village Lodge on New Years Eve as a party of 11, including 4 children. It was very busy as you would expect but there were plenty of staff on and they were all working so hard but made you feel so welcome and were extremely pleasant. The food was served very promptly and was superb. We like the Village Lodge anyway but I was so impressed last night. Well done to all staff and thank you.

Had some takeouts couple of times from this place now and they have never let me down. My favourite is the Lamb Moulvibazar (very spicy). Also the staff are very friendly and attentive. The Gaffa is always a jolly and welcoming. Keep up the great work 👌🏼

Wont be returning, they forgot some of the order, when we asked where it was as we had almost finished we were told to wait - WOW ! The rest of the food finally came however we had all finished so asked them to take it off the bill, went to pay and advised the service wasn’t great to be told we only ordered starters! Perhaps they need to advise if your only calling in for a light meal then you need to expect poor service 👍🏽

Terrible service, we booked for 5 of us for a quick bite to eat we ordered 3 starters 1 main 2 Nan breads 2 rice and 1 chips, between 4 adults and 1 child like I say just a quite bite to eat before going out. The services was so slow we waited nearly 20 minutes before even being given the menus, food service was also very slow . Food eventually arrived well some of it, to be fair the food was nice however they missed part of our order, started to eat thinking they will bring it, they then brought the food to the table behind us, when we asked the waiter if the rest of our food was coming (although we had almost finished ) his response was to “wait “ we advised we had almost finished, clearly they had forgotten which had they just said that wouldn’t have been a huge issue! He then brought the rest of the food by this time we had all finished so I asked him to take this off the bill, went to pay and we said the service wasn’t great and rather than an apology we were told “you only ordered starters” wow!!! So apparently if you only have starters expect terrible service we will not be returning.

Went for our Evening meal with friends. Had a fantastic evening! The food was amazing, fresh and served hot. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent, lovely decor. Excellent would highly recommend

Awesome curries from here , madras is more vindaloo ( not complaining) and South Indian garlic chilli chicken was one of the best I've tasted .. Compliments to the chef

The best Bangladesh food in the are. The staff are attentive and the restaurant well appointed. The menu as a great choice of food and cooked to your our choosing. They also have some fantastic fish dishes.

Visited with a mate after a less than great meal at a previous visit to a nearby Indian restaurant. Very glad we tried this place. Food was delicious with attentive staff. You can take your own alcohol which is a bonus. Will definitely be back.

Customer service was good but we had an order for collection. The food left a lot to be desired. We had a tikka and a korma but weren’t impressed. We didn’t finish our food and instead cooked.

Good choices on the menu at this local restaurant. Food well prepared, if a little on the small portion size, but quality and speed of service really let this place down.

Normally when we go to this restaurant the food is really good. Not this time, the lamb stuffed pepper was bland and the main of shashlik chicken bhoona wasn't any better. Very disappointed

We have used the village lodge for years, it’s by far the best restaurant/takeaway for curry’s in Cheslynhay The staff are fantastic and the food is always 5* never had a bad meal inside the restaurant or a takeaway

Me and my family always love visiting the Village Lodge! We spend many special occasions dining here and we are always more than impressed with the service and quality of food provided. I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal here and we have been coming for many, many years. Thank you to the Village Lodge for always going above and beyond to ensure we have the best dining experience.

So I regularly use the village lodge! At least once a week minimum! The food is always spot on! The delivery drivers are the most friendliest people ever too!! Never had a bad meal! Strongly recomend lamb jalfrezi with extra chillis!!! Bang on!!!

Visited the Village Lodge just after the all clear to open up.. still socially distanced inside etc, but really great to be back here again. Staff are always friendly and helpful and this visit was no exception. The food is always of a good standard. You can take your own drink of choice and was good to see the place up to allowed capacity and everyone enjoying being back out in restaurants and enjoying great food.

We have been to the village lodge countless times since it opened and we are never disappointed. The service is excellent, waiters are more than kind and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and to top it off the food is AMAZING!! Our favourite place for a curry.

We cannot fault our Christmas Day meal. Everything was excellent. The food was outstanding and the service was equally as good. My parents who were apprehensive about an alternative Christmas meal were so impressed.

Called on bank holiday weekend. Provoked our table for four. The restaurant was very busy for a Sunday night but the wait for service/ food was minimal. Very nice meal was had by all, and staff funny and polite.

We visited the Village Lodge after hearing a couple of good reports from friends but we were sorely disappointed. The staff weren’t particularly welcoming, the place was dirty— particularly the toilets— and the food left a lot to be desired. My chicken tikka madras was just base sauce loaded with chilli powder without any flavour. Some of the chicken tasted old and “gamey” and other pieces were so tough that they were inedible. We certainly won’t be going back there.

Everything about this place is great! The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. It’s not a huge restaurant so it’s perfect for meeting friends or a romantic meal. Highly recommend.
