The village italian kitchen in Gateshead

After a difficult week, neither of us could be bothered to cook so at the last minute we decided to go for a meal at The Village Kitchen. So glad we did, it was lovely, the food was delicious snd the service excellent. The lady who served us (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was so kind, she genuinely made my day, thank you. It's easy to forget the impact a kind gesture can make, until you're on the receiving end of it. Thank you x

Fast delivery. Food was quite nice. Pop was extortionate.

Waste of money, pizza was 3 slices of pepperoni, cut in half to seem more, 2 slices had no sauce or cheese on, just bread, and 4 jalapeño across a 12” pizza. This is not “Italian” pizza, it’s cheap rubbish sold at top dollar. Avoid this place, your money be better spent elsewhere

Great food, reasonable prices and excellent customer service, would defo recommend.

My husband had the pizza which he really enjoyed however I had the chicken in cream sauce with tagliatelle, this was supposed to have mushrooms in the sauce according to the description and there were none, and the cream sauce was so bland it was awful. I wish I could say better but I'm afraid the meal ended up in the bin - total waste of money.

Formerly Deanos ,now The Ilalian Village Kitchen. Same staff ,same service ,food and menu and food has substantial upgrade. We visit several several times a month. The Sunday lunch is now excellent at very reasonable price. Ribeye Steak and lovely chips . Sea Bass in lovely sauce, Salmon Fillits and Mussels and Gamborini Prawns are all excellent at reasonable prices. Try the Cocktail menu 2 f or £12.00 lovely or my favorite Caribbean Rum Coffee. The food is a treat

Been to this restaurant numerous times as Deanos but first since it has been taken over. The food was very disappointing. My starter of calamari could gave been cooked more & our main of pasta & pizza was very bland.

A disappointing experience. The food was bland. We were there for 2 and a half hours as we were forgotten about. The serving staff were rude, our waitress had a disgusting attitude. Won't be returning. If you're looking for somewhere in Whickham, Oli and Joe's along the road is far superior.

Went as a large group of 16 for a birthday meal on Sunday. Food options were brilliant. The Sunday lunch looked so nice and the people who had it said it was lovely. I went for the 2 courses for £8.95 (starter and main) which was brilliant and there was a good amount to choose from. There was the choice to have some of the food as gluten free too which was even better to know as I know people that could benefit from that option.

First time last night and won't be the last Lovely food

Service was outstanding, stylish environment and the food was perfect! At the end we were given shots of Amaretto with our bill 😍 My only tiny gripe, (a one management could easily fix) is that we wanted to leave a tip on card and the team couldn't accept it and we had no cash. As we both work in hospitality we always tip and felt a bit guilty. Thank you for a lovely meal and experience 🥰

Ordered takeaway food. Girl who took my order over phone was very helpful and pleasant. When collecting the girl who got food for me was rude and very unpleasant.....definitely in need of some serious customer service. Won't be back and will not recommend again to anyone. Food lovely but shame about the rude staff member....

Easily the best Italian I have had the pleasure of enjoying, The food, staff and hospitality were fantastic. Travelled from Coatbridge, Scotland for a weekend in newcastle and would make the journey again for Deano's alone. 5 stars aren't enough. ❤️

What a gem of a place! Was told about Deano's by some work colleagues and gave it a try. This is the 2nd time I have been now. Excellent food, good prices, friendly staff. I will be going back again soon. This was our main course, forgot to take one of starters as I was hungry and got stuck into it right away lol.

As a bikini competitor eating in restaurants is very stressful. I eat specific foods and specific amounts. I rang ahead to deano's to see if they could do this without hesitation they agreed. All went well on the day and everything was what I needed. Only one other restaurant has ever done this. This is rare. So thankyou for making it stress free😊 very grateful. Highly recommend. Staff friendly and helpful. Compliments to the chef.

We had potato skins, they were hot, crisp and very tasty. For main we had Deanos pasta, couldn't fault the seafood, absolutely delicious. Staff welcoming and friendly, would recommend a visit.

Restaurant was cold had to sit with jumper on the food was good but not as good as Olly and Joe's just up the road. Once we had finished had to wait for someone to bring the bill which didn't happen so ended up leaving and paying at the counter on way out

Such a shame the food has went downhill. This was my favourite Italian restaurant for years however the last twice I’ve been the food has been really disappointing so I won’t be returning. It seems since their prices have increased the food quality has decreased along with the size of their drinks glasses! I’ve gave two stars rather than one as the waiter was very friendly

I have been dining here for over 15 years since my return from Scotland, before Covid it was always excellent. Great service, and fab food and wine at an amazing prices. After Covid things changed as they obviously must have lost several staff, I continued to go less frequently to see if things changed, but unfortunately things are just as bad and the prices have gone up dramatically. ( I understand the price increase at the moment and that is fine if food is nice) Unfortunately when I visited last night with my friend -while the waiting staff were still nice,attentive and friendly, the food left alot to be desired. My black pudding in pepper corn sauce was over cooked to the point it was hard to even cut one of the pieces, both mine and my friends main course of pasta was pretty tasteless, but the main problem was it was cold on one side and hot on the other, we ate it as we were chatting but when we were asked at the end of the meal by the young waiter (who was obviously just learning the ropes but was very pleasant) how our meal was we said it was cold and could he let the chef know.. When we paid and left nothing was said to us which was very disappointing. Unfortunately I feel after many years i will have to finally give up on this restaurant. Very sad

Iv ate here regularly for years but have to say I will be going else where from now on ! Came a few weeks back and none of us were impressed but thought it’s usually good so will give them the benefit of the doubt , but unfortunately this visit was just as disappointing Food has really went down hill. No bread for soup , no broccoli , no meatballs , the chicken breast was absolutely tiny and so over cooked ,was like eating a shoe ! Don’t know what was going on with the carbonara I feel like they had ran out of cream too as it just tasted of butter it was foul ! Can’t believe I’m writing this review as Deanos has long been our families favourite local restaurant you’d think with the prices rising Theyv been giving their customers the best quality food: we’ll be taking our service else where from now on !

I was there on the 25th sept my experience i had lasagne it was a joke there should be mince in it there wasn't the sauce was like water my partner had beef dinner the beef was like shoe leather it was my first visit there & it will be my last

Went for the 2 course for £7.95, starter was potato skins, which were good, vegetarian pizza for main which looked great, nice thin base, but it was very chewie very salty and very plain taste, tasted just like cardboard, not impressed. The 3 staff waiting on about 12 people including my daughter and myself, took ages to clear the stater plates then waited some time for the mains. One of the female waiting staff was not polite, almost rude, also she wore a perfume which was so strong. Then got tired of waiting for the bill so went to the counter to pay. Sorry , not going back

I went to pick up a pre-ordered Pizza. Prompt, friendly service at a good price. The eat-in atmosphere is also very good; the menu is good and it's an excellent place to eat out in. In the centre of Whickham with good parking nearby.

Not as good as it was, waited 30 minutes for a coffee at the end of the meal, which was sat on the bar as we left.... Cold.

Pizza base was a bit hard, needs more yeast in our opinion. But nice place, friendly staff.

Cheap and good quality Sunday Lunch. Always forget to take a photo of the food. The veg is underseasoned but perfectly cooked. The portion of meat is good I had 3 thick (5mm thick) large slices of lamb. My wife a similar portion of beef, lean, no fat or gristle. My daughter had a child's portion of chicken. We couldn't really see a difference, just marginally smaller than the larger adult dinner. Loads of tasty gravy which meant we didn't have to add salt or pepper to the vegetables. Friendly and attentive staff, they could do with making checks for drinks more often, but it shows the lack of pressure and relaxed atmosphere.
