The Village Bistro in Conwy

Unfortunately, we were unable to eat here (at the beginning of June). The message on the ansaphone says 'Currently closed for the winter'. Hopefully, they'll reopen at the beginning of the school summer holidays.

A group of 6 were in the area for the zip wire in Bethesda, and were not sure if we wanted to book dinner on a Saturday evening or not. Yet we were sooo very fortunate to get a table and absolutely loved our experience. We loved having the table to ourselves all evening, and being able to relax and talk about our day. The staff were absolutely wonderful and explained the way the menu works, where the price for a 3 course meal costs the price of the main that you order; you know exactly what your bill will be by the end of the meaning. This is of course apart from the wine which was very reasonable. We all walked back to our Airbnb and kept talking about the food. We even looked in an estate agent’s window deciding we all wanted to move to be near the restaurant. I can’t gush enough! If you’re in the area and love good food, you have to try this place.

Going on TA’s reviews I booked this restaurant on our first day of the holiday as we didn’t want to travel far , it was superb. You pay for the main meal and get a starter and desert,so come hungry. What a pity it’s only open Friday and Saturday as we would have gone again. All four of us had something different and all were excellent

After reading so many fantastic reviews of The Village Bistro we decided to call in on a Saturday evening on the first day of our stay at Graigclwyd Springs Cottages (mentioned as I will do another rave review on the cottages next). However, because of the popularity of the Bistro we could not dine as there were no tables but Diane the owner took my mobile & promised to text me if she had availability the following Friday (The Bistro only opens Friday & Saturday evenings) she was true to her word and we reserved a table on the Friday - I am so glad she did, the food & the service we received was ‘first class’ the ambiance of the bistro was amazing with tea lights & venitian blinds and the tables were spaced well apart for privacy. The food was outstanding and melt in the mouth, in fact I would go as far to say that Diane & her team deserve a Michelin Star. Well done Diane & we will call if we visit Penmaenmawr again.

Oh my what a great place this is. Formal enough to make the occasion special, but relaxed enough to let you have a great time without having to put a suit on. There are so few places that get the atmosphere just right, but then to top it with delicious food was really enjoyable Unusual pricing structure (pick a priced main & the starter & dessert is included) which could be a touch clearer (there’s a sign in the window but not on the menu) but which means the meal is great value for hearty eaters, less so for those wanting less. The food itself is great. Good selection of items, including fresh seasonal dishes & lots of gooey puddings. Huge portions. Friendly, attentive service that meant we had everything we needed. In summary this is a dream of a place. Visit if you can

We came here for a friend's birthday. We were absolutely blown away with the standard of food. One of our party is vegetarian and he thought it was outstanding. Its a must to visit here, you will not be disappointed.

I dined here with my friends last night and I have to say it's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! The service from Diane and her team was excellent and the food was amazing. Having had disappointing meals out recently since lockdown it was a delight to return to the Village Bistro, Penmaenmawr this past week. As always we were warmly welcomed by Diane & her staff. The price shown against the main course is what you pay & this includes a starter & a sweet and the basket of bread to start is lovely but beware the portions are very generous & it's very easy to nibble away at this and feel too full to appreciate the tasty 3 courses that follow!! We all enjoyed our meals very much & the quality of all the ingredients are excellent , generous & very tasty. We are so looking forward to visiting again very soon but must remember not to eat anything for lunch that day!!

My favourite restaurant in North Wales - all the food is delicious and great value. Extra touches like the lovely bread served at the start make it a great all round experience. Always has a great atmosphere with good music playing and friendly waiting on staff to make you feel welcome.

Have dined here a few times over the years when in the area and it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere and ambience in the restaurant is warm and welcoming. Diane took my booking and is so friendly and kind, as are all the team. The food is incredible. Such generous portions and the highest quality ingredients. The menu is so varied with specials on a starter main and dessert board that are constantly changing alongside the regular classic dishes but whatever you choose, you will not go wrong. Already thinking about my next visit!

After seeing the fantastic reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to book my mums birthday meal here. The lively lady that booked us in warned us not to eat much before coming and we soon realised why!The portions are very generous and every dish we ordered tasted delicious. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely local restaurant. Superb value, lovely setting with really lovely staff and owners. We haven’t been for years but will be making this a regular now. The food was super tasty and the three course menu is a treat and the wine is brilliant value for money

Excellent service, food and price. This was our first visit to The Village Bistro and we were very impressed. We have been on holiday near Llandudno for the week and phoned up to book (someone told us about it when we told them we were staying nearby) lucky for us they had had a cancellation. Good choice of food reasonable prices for the wine and generous portions. We will certainly return when we are in the area. Just remember to book so that you are not disappointed.

Home cooked food that was tasty and plentiful. Plenty of choices on the menu to suit all tastes. Exceptional value and excellent personal, friendly service. What really impressed me was how the staff team helped to adapt the menu for my daughter who has a food allergy. Because of their care and adaptability she had three courses that she loved and didn’t feel she was missing out on anything.

Having never visited before it was amazing. Great atmosphere very helpful staff. Quick service and the best food I have ever eaten in a bistro. So much food on our table it was fabulous. Well done to all.

What a lovely little restaurant. Nothing to fancy but very warm welcoming team with great service and attention to detail. The food was also lovely. I can highly recommend the welsh lamb. We were the last ones in the restaurant but we didn’t feel rushed to leave. They don’t seem to over book which means the service is very consistent. We will certainly be booking again

Six of us spent a lovely evening eating fine food and catching up. The food is absolutely fabulous and there is so much of it. Pick your main meal - the price is listed- you can then chose a starter and pudding. Great service is always a positive and you certainly get it here. Would definitely recommend this place to eat.

This is the 2nd time we have been, the food is excellent though too much for me even my husband struggles to eat it all but it is so nice you really want to eat it all, the service is also excellent so I would definitely return and recommend.

While staying for the first time with very good friends of ours who have just moved to the area, they were very excited to take us to a restaurant which they have discovered while exploring and experimenting with places to eat in the local area. Well, we had such a warm welcome from the staff it was like coming home, a lovely setting and exquisite food which I can't fault it in terms of value the for money. I have a feeling that this will be the restaurant of choice on our next visit...

Lovely food large portions very friendly staff.

Four of us ate here on Saturday night . The service was very attentive but not intrusive - we had a reservation at 8.30 but arrived early and was seated straight away - we were actually eating our starters at 8.35. The food was lovely - and the chocolate roulade I had for dessert was amazing - it was without a doubt the nicest chocolate roulade I have ever had. The prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to visit again.

First visit and definitely won't be the last. Friendly efficient staff, and nothing was too much. The portion sizes were generous and delicious. I had the mushroom starter and the lamb and managed to squeeze in the Turkish delight ice cream. My friends had the Hake and Fillet steak all served with lovely fresh vegetables and everything piping hot. All meals were excellent. Can't wait to go again.

Wow what can I say from the minute we went in till we came out it was fantastic, greeted with a smile and shown to our table, drinks order taken, then was advised about specials board, one of our party was a vegetarian, she was told that chef will change anything on menu to her liking, food arrive starters, main meal served with 3 different types of potatoes and vegetables all were piping hot, we then choose deserts, which were absolutely delicious, there is nothing we could fault, we will definitely be back again thank you Village Bistro.

40 years of fine dining, this was and is the best, atmosphere was brilliant and the staff were amazing and polite

Me and my wife visited here last November after moving to the area about 2 years ago. We have been recommended the bistro by several locals but because of the £30 set price menu we’ve had always been a little bit off as it’s a little more than what we normally spend on food. However...... it is so worth it! Without exaggerating it is probably the best food I’ve ever had. Both me and my wife loved our starters, mains and deserts. The only issue we had was that we had so much food we struggled to eat it all!

We visited with friends,who had eaten here many times before,and we were not disappointed.From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the host, she was very friendly as were all the waitresses.We all had starters, main and dessert.Every meal was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Great food and brilliant service, food comes to table fast and hot

We have recently moved into Pen and the Village Bistro is just a few minutes walk away so we decided to give it a try on Friday (lucky booking made the day before). We had heard good things about it from our new neighbours but were blown away by the quality of the food and welcoming service. All three courses were superb and there was no trouble accommodating a few special requests to suit a special diet. Excellent value for both quality and quantity so we intend to make it a regular monthly treat.

What can i say...Fantastic, Best 3 Course ive ever had around N.Wales...Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great friendly staff and EXCELLENT FOOD!!! Both of Us had a Lovely Evening, Will Guaranteed Be Returning, and Everyone Else should Try It 😁👌👌

Fantastic food with a superb menu that totally differs from the usual "same old, same old ". A destination that should definitely be on you "must do" list. There is absolutely nothing not to like. Service and ambience is excellent. Thoroughly recommend

We had been wanting to try the bistro for ages after we'd heard that the original owners thankfully had returned and so went the week before the Bank Holiday and my ---- what a splendid little place!

If you like excellent food and service try this place! Price of mains includes the starter and the sweet, presentation is top notch. Only advice that I will give is- wear elasticated clothes and don't bother wearing a belt as you will be stuffed full.

Visited on Friday 3rd August 2018 whilst visiting family in Penmaenmawr. Diane and her team provide an easy and relaxed atmosphere but with no omissions excellent customer service. A wonderful menu and for the price, a three course meal with ample choice for all diners and you certainly will not leave hungry. Worth turning off the A55 for a short drive into the picturesque village and a wonderful culinary experience.

It's lovely to have Diane and her team back at the Bistro. Food and service as excellent as ever. All fresh produce used and lovely and hot. It's a three course menu.

We have eaten at many Michelin starred restaurants but the quality of the food and service ranks with the best of them. I had steak and this was brought out of the kitchen on the orders of the chef for me to inspect and ensure that it had been cooked to my liking - this has never happened anywhere else before! You only pay for your main course and the starters and desserts are all included. The choice of food available will suit most people along with the daily specials on the board. This restaurant is 100% recommended.

The only time we'd eaten here was a couple of years ago when the previous owners were running the place, although the food then was OK, it wasn't somewhere I'd rush back to (check out the dates of the negative reviews) We'd heard all the hype about when Diane and David had the restaurant and went there ready to be really critical. But what can we say, the food was fantastic, well cooked and plentiful. The staff were attentive without being overwhelming. It was soon obvious that the other customers we're regulars and known to the staff, that's a recommendation in itself. We will be back !

First visit to The Village Bistro and definitely won't be the last, very welcoming, the food and service was superb, can't wait to go again. Last minute decision for my wife's birthday and what a great choice.

Sharing our anniversary at this fantastic place, made our weekend. Not only was the food exquisite, but the staff couldn't do enough. We cannot recommend this place more highly.

I can’t believe we now have such an amazing restaurant on our doorstep! What a treat!! Such a relief! From start to finish the food and service were faultless. Also featured the best Pannacotta I’ve had in my life. It was like velvet! Real family run feel to the dining room and everything was seasoned and presented perfectly. Didn’t see the chef(s) but he/she/they KNOW HOW TO COOK.

Omg the steak was to die for. Melt in your mouth and simply amazing. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Just fantastic food. Perfectly cooked. Nicely presented. Dishes well balanced for flavour. Really friendly staff. Slightly more expensive than our usual dining, but of a higher quality. Hope it continues as we want to dine here again next year.
