Great little bakery with massive doughnuts and great staff

Two words. VANILLA SLICE. omg this thing hits different! Lovely polite staff even in busy periods.

Creamy vanilla slice and cakes we purchased were of very good quality! Highly recommended!

Simply the best vanilla slice... In the World! (as previously reported). And now I can add - the hot pork pie was fabulous too. Took me back to childhood memories of eating one straight out the butchers (we wuz common but we had taste!). All their bread is so fresh and tasty too. It's a destination, and calling in this morning on the way home.

Fantastic little bakery with the best Welsh cakes I've ever had. Another first for me was a hot pork pie that the young lady suggested I try, and I have to say it was delicious. The service in this very busy shop was excellent and all the young ladies were kind and gave excellent service. I'll be back.

Sooo many wonderful cakes to choose from. They had some really lovely looking old school bakes, I really did struggle to choose just 1 item. The Welsh cakes were super fresh and tasty and the white chocolate and biscoff donut was divine. Ate it the following day whilst climbing Snowdon and it was delicious. Still very fresh and lots of topping. Such good value for money too!

What a gem! Everything looked amazing. I chose the Welsh cakes and discovered a new favourite. The bakery was busy - always a good sign- but the staff remained friendly and efficient. A definite stop if you’re in Conwy❤️

Went here on Tuesday (we always do when in Conwy) but we definitely won't be going again. I was served by probably the rudest person I've ever been served by (young blond girl, hair tied back in a pony, small stud in nose, just in case you're the manager and wonder which member of staff it was). I specifically asked for the cakes out of the cabinet and not out of the window and she proceeded to lecture me about the sun etc. I was polite and said I specifically asked for those ones as I've had food poisoning (not from this shop) in the past and didn't want fresh cream cakes from out of the sunny window and she spoke to me like I was a child. She was then backed up by another rude girl (loud, dark hair) who said "we pull the blinds down if it's sunny". Funny that seeing as though the sun was blazing and the blind was up! She was rude, obnoxious and looked like she'd rather be anywhere else but at work. She needs training on how to speak to customers. She embarrassed me and the lady behind me, who actually followed me out of the shop and said to me, I can't believe that girl spoke to you that way! I 100% WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS SHOP AGAIN.

What an awesome little bake shop ! We stopped by after visiting the Conwy castle! We got a donut and a chocolate fudge square! Both were fantastic! We didn't get a picture of our purchase because they were enjoyed so quickly! Highly recommend for any visitors to this area !

Lovely selection of cakes and a good price but the cream doughnut I had was stale and hard to bite into. How long has it been sat there??

They offer a selection of chilled drinks. A few savoury parties such as steak slice, cheese and onion pasty, sausage roll, pork pie, steak and kidney pie, etc. The main attraction here though is the selection of cakes they have to offer. They had loads of cakes, doughnuts, biscuits in all different flavours and all for an amazing price. I went twice during my holiday. The first time I purchased a steak slice, bottle of coke and a rainbow slice (school cake as I know it) and it came to just £6. The second time I purchased a cheese and onion pasty, 2x rainbow slice, a caramel shortbread and a bottle of water which came to just over £8. The savoury pastries are around the same size as a greggs pasty would be, however, the cakes are huge and all around £1.50-£3 so a lot cheaper and a lot nicer than a greggs as it’s all homemade. It’s located in the centre of the town. There isn’t any seating in the bakery but it’s a 2 min walk to the marina by the smallest house where there is a lot of seating. There tends to be a queue for the bakery but don’t let this put you off as it’s fast moving as there tends to be 3 or 4 lovely staff members serving all the time.

Vanilla slices to die for. Wished we had bought extra! The Poppy Bakery should think of coming up to Dumfries and opening a branch here.

In 2017 I came to Conwy with my Dad and Grandpa and I got a Nutella and flake donut from here. This may sound crazy but I dream about that donut 😂 it has been 7 years and I live on the other side of the world but I think about that donut often and truth be told I miss it dearly. I have yet to find a donut that matches the incredible experience of that one!!

Visited Conwy whilst in campervan. Walked past this and had to jump in. Lad on till was super friendly and will go a long way as a sales man. pointed me to a cake, but got a Nutella filled donut too. Donut was amazing with a cuppa. Cake was nice but needed a bit of buttercream through middle.

Outstanding bakery 100% recommend, lovely sausage rolls and cakes.

The meat pies were amazing, but the donuts were great too. Unfortunately we were only in Conwy for one day, we would definitely have visited there more often.

Our train conductor actually recommended the sausage rolls so we had try them. We did and they are sensational, so much so over our 3 days we tried the many of the other tasty treats and all were delicious. This shop has great food and friendly service. The lemon buns and custard slices are amazing.

I stopped in here at s stop on a tour and was surprised at how delicious everything was. I got a pastry with meat & cheese that was honestly one of the most simple, yet wonderful things I’ve ever tasted and the slice of chocolate cake was the best I’ve ever had. The young man working there was very nice as well, my only regret is I don’t live closer to this bakery because the US doesn’t have anything that compares to them.

Probably the best donuts in the world ….. White Chocolate & Lotus. Absolutely and utterly delicious. Only fault ….. Discovered them on the last the last day of my holiday instead of the first. Although, my waist line thanked me.

Called in for a Pork Pie. Hands down, the best pork pie I’ve ever had!! The meat was succulent, meaty and the pastry was delicious. And it was warm! Would go back here just for this. Awesome!

What a bakery , every bakery shop should be like this shop in Conwy , fantastic sausage rolls and pastries along with beautiful cakes . A real pleasure to see and eat from this bakery .

We thoroughly enjoyed this bakery. The savory pies and welsh cakes were extremely delicious. Huge variety, worst part was choosing what to get. My son reported that his caramel donut was only so-so but everything else was great.

Puff pastry was very nice! Sausage roll was really good, the chicken and mushroom bake had very little filling though (mostly empty puff pastry). Doughnut was weirdly chewy. Reasonably priced aside from the doughnut which was expensive.

This was one of the tastiest donuts I've had in ages. Dunkin Donuts is nothing compared to this donut. You can tell that everything here is prepared very freshly. In addition, the friendly gentleman took less than it cost because I couldn't handle all the English coins and he didn't accept the note either. Unthinkable in other countries. Simply great!

Best bakery in the world, amazing cakes and sweet treats, incredibly nice people.

We spent 5 days in Conwy, and THIS PLACE is what we’ll miss the most! Of course their sweet treats are excellent, but their savory meat pies are what’s really the star here (to me, my wife says it’s the choix pastries). If you’re ever passing through Conwy, make a quick stop here. Walking steps away from the castle.

The staff was very friendly and helped me to choose the best.

The only bad thing I can say about this place is that we went here at the beginning of our vacation and never found another bakery as delicious the rest of the time! It ruined us. Good prices, friendly staff, delicious pastries.

The freshest and crispiest British beef pie I have ever eaten in the UK. I tried 6 flavors and it is highly recommended!

We had a nutella doughnut and a vanilla custard doughnut and they was really chewy to bite. Such a shame.

We have loved the cakes and hot food from here for the last 10 years and have shopped here dozens of times. The past 3-4 visits we have bought the traditional Victoria sponge we have noticed it was not up to the usual standard. On Saturday we bought a sponge and an apple pie. The sponge was virtually inedible as it was so dry and half of it went in the bin. We have just heated the apple pie and within 1 mouthful both my wife and I said the pastry was awful and the apple uncooked. It too went in the bin 🙄 Not sure if the place has been taken over of if they have dropped their standards as the bakery opposite has closed but it is no longer a superb bakery 😔

Love this Bakery. I have been to Conwy twice and made sure to come here both times. The Nutella doughnut is amazing. I also got the white chocolate biscoff one which was also amazing. My partner got the custard doughnut and an almond tart. All smashed , wow 😍

We've been 3 times, every time we've come up from Liverpool, and every time it's been consistently good. The cakes and savoury are superb, vanilla slices are next level and sausage rolls are tasty as. We will not be visiting Wales without a detour.

Came across this bakery while visiting area. Ordered sausage roll, corned beef pasty, custard donut and custard slice. All tasted great, reasonably priced great service.

Killer sausage roll. Nice and almost buttery flakey pastry. Also wife said the jam donut is the best she’s ever had, soft and chewy. We ordered a couple of bits then swiftly returned to stock up!

When in Conwy we always stop at the bakery. Clearly a lot of hard works goes into making such amazing fresh treats (both sweet and savoury). Such a great selection at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Went here when visiting the castle. We purchased 2 doughnuts, a shortbread biscuit and a custard cake, all of which were massive and delicious. Very reasonably priced! Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area!

We were staying several miles away but kept returning to try more of Popty's offerings - such a wide range of cakes and bakes and all of them lovely. Star of the show for me was their pork pie - one of the best I've ever eaten (and I used to live in Melton Mowbray) - it was just a shame they didn't sell larger ones.

I mean what's not to like, literally nothing, everything is absolutely delicious, if your visiting the castle you definitely need to pop in nothing will disappoint, best vanilla slice I've ever had, donuts, lemon buns, victoria sponge, chocolate cake, sausage rolls, pork pies, sandwiches, fresh fresh fresh! Found this lovely looking little bakery in conwy. Everything looked beautiful and tasty. We had a slice of carrot cake, a vanilla custard slice and a chocolate covered doughnut. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The pastry on the slice was a dark brown colour amd was bitter and burnt and the doughnut was claggy and very doughy. They looked so delicious just sadly didnt taste how they looked. However I can't fault the customer service. The young boy service was so polite and happy.

Truly lovely, everything we tried! Fudge cake highly recommended, lovely shortbread, nice almond tart too. My partner loved the sausage roll, I enjoyed the peppered steak bake, and we had a ham and cheese sandwich for a later hike that came in a really clever little wrap. Also super reasonable prices and generous portions!

Awesome little bakery in the middle of the town. Thank you to the little man who served us, definitely worth asking him what he recommends as he may be young but he definitely knows his desserts. We got sausage roll, chicken & mushroom pie, steak & ale pie, pepper steak pie. For dessert we got the vanilla slice. Thanks again little man.

Just back from Conwy with a bag full of goodies from Popty bakery. We haven't visited since before Covid but we are glad to report it's still wonderful. The bread/baps taste and smell like proper bread/baps and the cakes are even bigger than we remember. The custards taste like they have eggs in (now theres a novelty) and the lemon buns are glorious. Dont miss this place or you'll be sorry and too thin.

I was served towards the end of the day. Carrot cake was moist and full of flavour. Chocolate brownie was really chocolatey but not sickly. Really cheap prices for quality products. Was served by a young man whose customer service skills were exceptional 🙌

Normally I would give this bakery 5 as my family and I have been coming here since childhood. Please, please, please and another big pleaae go back to making your CORNED BEEF PASTIES as you uses to make them, they new shape and the way they are made are not a patch on the old. A few people while we were staying in Conwy commented on it. Love this place

Travelled 35 miles today just to get their delicious cream donuts and the equally custard slices. We do this two or three time a year. Never tried donuts or slices like theirs anywhere.

Excellent bakery, I had a vanilla/custard slice and my son had a massive piece of chocolate fudge cake. Absolutely delicious 🤤 pity we live so far away. Young lad that was serving did a brilliant job.

Conwy residents, count yourselves as very fortunate to have such a great bakers with the most generously sized cakes for the best prices. The vanilla slice was delicious and big enough for me and the mrs to share. Kids loved their caramel doughnut.

Just fantastic! Great staff. The best cakes/vanilla slice/doughnuts I have ever tasted and trust me, I have eaten lots of them! The prices are also reasonable so we always buy some treats for later whenever we are in Conwy. If the prices went up it would stop seeming such a treat but the quanity they shift shows they are hitting the price point perfectly. Do yourself a favour, if you are passing, buy something, you won't regret it. Next time we are in Conwy I have informed the other half that I will be trying the savour selection too - as well as fish and chips obviously.

Walking past this bakery and spotted the fabulous display of cakes and pastries. Couldn't resist popping and the selection was mouthwatering. Bought a selection of cakes and oh my word was it hard to choose. Each and everyone looked baked to perfection, bursting with cream/custard. The savoury selection looked delish although this time we just bought cakes. Honestly, it was so reasonably priced, they really could charge a bit more and it would still be worth it. A real treat and the lady and young man serving were so polite and friendly. Next time I visit the beautiful Conwy I will be seeking out this shop again. Highly recommended.

In Conwy while husband is working there for the day called into the bakery after looking in the window at all the beautiful food was served by a fantastic young lad who was so polite and chatty and bought some amazing treats would recommend to anyone who is visiting to call in

I wanted a strawberry tarte and some welsh cakes. I looked for the best bakery in Conwy and came across this shop. I must say, I did not manage to take a picture of what I purchased however, I can say this is the Best bakery I've visited!! The pictures don't do it justice 😋 Went back again today and bought some more to take home along with some more Welsh cakes. Beautiful bakery with a huge array of tasty fresh cakes and savouries available. Really surprised at how reasonably priced it was for a popular tourist area. Can honestly say it is one of the best bakeries we have visited

After a walk around Conwy we decided to buy sausage rolls and a pasty to take home as we live locally. The town was bustling and the bakery was very busy with a vast choice of lovely cakes, pastries and ready made sandwiches. Whilst queuing, I could hear the young man serving customers asking then if they were having a lovely day, where they were from etc. What a wonderful young man, so refreshing these days, I’m sure that the owners are very proud of him. Da iawn.

The best bakery in North Wales. The selection of their finest cakes and pastries on display is a sight to behold. Really recommend the caramel shortbread, brownies and rainbow cakes. A big shoutout to the team here for their great customer service especially Cat!

We stopped off today for some treats whilst we were in Conwy. We were served by such a friendly and helpful young man, and the cakes were really delicious!

I have bought the vanilla slices from here and enjoyed them A bit shocked that the local council rate their food hygiene ratings as a 2 star with a need for improvement
