Incredible food and flawless service. Beautiful view. Absolutely amazing vegan and vegetarian options. Would highly recommend the vegetable tartare and cauliflower katsu curry.

The steak I ate was actually quite good. Too bad you even have to pay extra for a salad or fries. We also didn't like the acoustics in the restaurant. Another group was partly very noisy because of that. But the staff is very friendly.

The langoustine soup was a bit too sour for my taste. The chicken salad was very good. The pasta was a bit bland, and the venison had a slightly strong smell. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. Quite expensive.

I am a local here and always find the food exceptional. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and very professional. And it has such an amazing view (no pun intended). Would definitely recommend.

This restaurant is very aptly named, as the view is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, they rely way too much on this. The food was mediocre at best - gastropub fare at Michelin star prices, certainly not worth it. We found the waitstaff to all be excellent - that great combination of professional yet friendly. However, the restaurant manager was extremely rude to us on multiple occasions, so much so that I really wonder how he even holds such a position. We were told by reception staff when booking in person that the front line tables were allocated on a first come, first serve basis. When we arrived 3 such tables were free so we asked for one. The waitress said it should be fine until the manager came over and gave us conflicting stories about why we couldn’t sit there. Shockingly, we were told it wouldn’t be possible to sit elsewhere and move when another table became free because he’d “rather not have to clean 2 tables” and that certain tables were reserved “because residents are paying £600 per night so take priority”. I have dined at fine dining establishments all over the world and never had such haughty and strangely tacky service from a manager. Nobody came to ask us how the meal was, and you’d think given the prices and manager’s attitude that they’d know the correct temperature to serve red wine. I’d be willing to let all this go if the food was anywhere near matching prices but it was not even close. If you’re a non resident looking for great food, go elsewhere. Maybe you can come for a drink or to admire the view but I’d recommend to avoid the restaurant and the worst manager I’ve ever come across. Reply to management: it was abundantly clear to the manager that we were not satisfied, it certainly did not require complaining continuously throughout the meal. By the time your manager had been so rude and weird towards us multiple times we just wanted to try to enjoy the time we had there. It’s disappointing you put the onus on customers to continually moan instead of your manager checking in, which happens in pretty much all other restaurants, even cheap ones. In fact, when we left 2 of the waitstaff said goodbye and thanks but your manager looked at us then looked away purposely ignoring us. I left a review at both the restaurant and hotel listings due to the fact that people are reviewing your restaurant separately at both places and I believe people who look at either place should know the experience that other diners have had, it’s unfortunate that you find that disappointing instead of wanting to address your managers shocking behaviour. It wasn’t the fact that we didn’t sit at the window table that caused this review (I am not that childish and we still had a great view), it is how it was dealt with by the manager who just made the situation worse, saying conflicting and weird things, making us feel like a nuisance, then out of nowhere pointing out what guests are paying for their rooms etc, and just having a terrible attitude and tone. As I said, the rest of your staff were wonderful.

It would be very easy for a restaurant with such a glorious view to rely on its beautiful setting, but the View also delivers with its food. Enjoyed an absolutely lovely meal here with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We were served by Chris, who was excellent -- very friendly and attentive. He made our special meal even more memorable, and we are grateful.

Really lovely place for dinner and drinks in Portree. Best thing is the view, and it’s beautiful! Best view over Portree. Bar was fantastic really well stocked and a great range of cocktails, wine and whisky’s. And a wonderful garden to drink and admire the view. Staff were really friendly and warm. The food was good. Menu was small, but still a decent range of fish and meet options. Portions were on the smaller side, but very tasty. I had the venison, and it was great. Would definitely go to again, and would recommend for drinks and maybe dinner too.

Superb evening at The View restaurant. The setting is ideal for enjoying the view of the port (especially the two-seater tables right in front of the windows). For the catering part, everything was really excellent, from starter to dessert. It is worth spending a little of your budget to discover this establishment.

I LOVED the meal my husband and I had here during our vacation in Portree. They made excellent cocktails, and I loved every dish they served. I also think the prices offer excellent value for the money. Highly recommend!

Got directions here but never went

Came here with my partner for my 30th birthday. The staff brought us complimentary non-alcoholic drinks (we don't drink) and a complimentary desert, which was a lovely touch. In general, the staff were incredibly friendly but professional. Food was the tastiest we've had yet on the trip. And the atmosphere was lovely and cosy. Best meal we've had in a very long time. I had the soup of the day starter and a venison dinner, which was the best venison I have ever had in a restaurant. Service was lovely and well attending. I tried their mocktails, St Kitts and Forest Spritz, which were great.

The restaurant hall is very warm and annoyingly stuffy The food tastes less than normal, and the prices are very high The view is beautiful, but I could not find a reservation during the day, so they made my reservation at 8 o’clock when the sun had set, and I did not enjoy the experience at all.

The view is unbeatable, the service impeccable and the food? My favorite meal between Scotland to Iceland. Oh and so vegan friendly, if we ever make our way back it would be worth the 5 hr drive to Skye to eat here again

Just loved The View for our first night's dinner (of two) in Portree. Firstly, the view was truly amazing ! You could also enjoy drinks on the lawn and enjoy the view at the same time. The service and ambience was fitting with the first class establishment it is and the quality of the food both met and exceeded expectations. Wait staff were holding up the highest standards and The View did not disappoint. 10+/10 !

The view was lovely. The food was fine. Nothing amazing but perfectly okay. And our server was warm and friendly albeit a bit disconnected from our experience (like we had to point out that drinks hadn’t come - and hubby stole cutlery from the nearby table so I could eat the main course). But the vibe in this place is disconcerting. Firstly… the lights are bright like in a cafeteria and they never seem to dim. Secondly… it was hotter than a Caribbean beach. And most oddly… it felt impossible to get drinks. Took us about 15 minutes to get hubby a beer and me a glass of wine. Second round required deliberately asking - twice - then reminding the server. Again. The view is nice. But it’s quite a trek up to this place and it felt like we were eating in an expensive version of the cafeteria at a senior home.

The View lived up to its name. We felt like we were in Hawaii looking at the beautiful vista overlooking the bay with flowers and gardens all around us. And the view from inside the restaurant was just as nice from our table. The staff was very professional and the food was excellent. Our favorite part was the sticky toffee pudding. The best we had in all of our travels around the UK. Warm and rich as it should be. When you want a special night out in Portree, go here but make sure you make a reservation.

5 Stars - Bookings available online, dinners were booked out a week in advance but we got a reservation same day for lunch. The grilled Hake was one of my favorite dishes of the entire trip. Price was 30 pounds per person for a 3 course lunch. The views were incredible.

Good restaurant with good service and on par with the hotel. A shame that it is so hidden and not known more. They should mark it a little more.

Had a reservation for 2:30. Arrived 15 minutes late because we got delayed on the trails in the morning. Called ahead and was told we would be seated if we arrived within 15 minutes. Arrived on time and was told the kitchen closes at 2:30. They said they tried to call us but neither of us had any missed calls. Disappointed.

Great place with beautiful views of Portree Harbor. Food was great. Came here for my girlfriend’s birthday and our server, Eden, did an exceptional job. Had a wonderful evening.

Enjoyed dinner here. Food was excellent, dining room had beautiful views across to Portree. Shout out to the maître d', who was super kind, funny, and accommodating when we showed up to this nice venue muddy and a bit disheveled from a day hiking on Skye - it set the tone for the meal and made us feel welcome.

Excellent experience, our best lunch of the whole week in Scotland. In addition to the magnificent view and the serenity of the place compared to the flow of tourists from the center of Portree (we are only 10 minutes away on foot), the service is friendly and the food excellent. The menu is limited (3 starters / 3 main courses including 1 vegetarian / 3 desserts), seems to change every week and is perfectly executed. All for a very reasonable price (£30 for a 3-course menu). Really worth doing!

This restaurant could not be more aptly named 😍! We were lucky enough to have a later booking and got a table for two by the window. We dined overlooking a beautiful garden, the sea, and the banks of Portree. The inside of the restaurant is stunning as well. To get to the dining area, you walk passed a foyer with large leather couches and a stoked fire, an elegant and well-stocked bar with a variety of taps, and floor to ceiling picture windows that face the sea. The trio of artisanal breads and dips for two was a delicious way to start, and the wilted greens with pappardelle in a white sauce and chicken supreme as a main were a lovely way to finish. A great moment of gastronomy with a superb view. We enjoyed the prepared crab and brioche, then a fish and venison dish. The Scottish cheese plate was also very good although the biscuits are no substitute for a piece of bread. The brownie was rated very good too. We highly recommend even if the prices are not given.

We were just at the restaurant, not the hotel. The food was amazing! Tasteful and lovely flavors, and well-composed dishes. The staff was really attentive, and so sweet an pleasant. The best service we have experienced during our travels! As the name of the restaurant suggests, the view was outstanding. Of all the places we have eaten in Scotland so far, this has definitely been the best one. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The photos are only of some of the dishes we had.

Super delicious gluten-free meal with a fantastic view. They certainly thought about the allergens, because without asking extra they came up with a gluten-free sandwich as a starter. Definitely recommended for those who want to enjoy a wonderful view with delicious gluten-free food.

First of all- get the Trout entree. One of the best main dishes I’ve had. To the point, and every bite was amazing. I saw some reviewers saying portions were small, I left stuffed. It was so good though I felt like I wanted more. We got a few starters because they looked good, and they were. We also got the toffee pudding and s’mores brownie dessert- both very yummy. Had walked in expecting nothing because it was simply a convenient place to eat for us, and left very happy. Get a couple starters- get the trout- and enjoy a very good meal.

The view is incredible. The food sucks. My beef was overcooked and 42 pounds. The French fries with truffles had no truffles. The dauphine potatoes were dry. EDIT: They read my critic here and removed the fries spend and decreased to half the beef. That's what I call amazing service!! Everything in the hotel expect the restaurant was incredible.

Posh restaurant with a beautiful view of the harbor. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was delicious! Favorites included the asparagus appetizer, loin of venison, ocean trout and the s’mores dessert. The highland old fashioned was the best cocktail I’ve had in Scotland to date. Pricey, as expected, but a nice spot for an upscale meal with friends or significant other.

Excellent restaurant in Skye. As the name suggests, it has a wonderful view on the sea. There is a large garden where you can enjoy a drink before dinner. Restaurant is very nice and the staff is welcoming. All the dishes were very good. The check was appropriate for the quality of the dinner. I was very satisfied with my dinner. If you are in Skye you should try to book a table at this restaurant.

I have no idea how this restaurant isn’t higher rated, it is the best dining experience in Portree. The view from your dining table is simply one the best views you will have in your life. We expected this place was all about the view, and the food perhaps wasn’t great. We were wrong, my wife’s lemon pasta was outstanding. The beef dish was pretty good as well. Sticky Toffee, Yes please. The restaurant, like every restaurant in the world right now, seems a little understaffed, but the waitstaff worked hard and turned out a very good service product. It’s fairly priced for what you get.

This place is spectacular in all respects - service, food, and an utterly gorgeous space. Best white wine-steamed muscles I have ever had in my life, and lovely sandwich menu for lunch. Creative (and very tasty) wine and gin list. The view of the harbor and gardens enriches the whole experience, and service is just genuinely friendly. 100% worth a meal (or two!) and we will definitely be back next time!

We came in to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately the restaurant either missed the memo or they don’t usually do anything for celebrations. We tried a number of cocktails as well, but most of them were a lot on the sour side (not very well balanced imo). The food and view were amazing though. I would go back just for the chicken and the view at sunset, but definitely not for celebrations.

What a wonderful evening! We had reservations and showed up a little early to have a cocktail. The bartender was absolutely lovely and made us some delicious dirty vodka martinis (I had been craving one while in Scotland but that's not a common drink there) We sat in the parlor and enjoyed the view of Portree while we waited. The food, wine and service were all fabulous as were the espresso martinis for dessert. We. plan to stay here next time we come to Skye.

Our group of three really enjoyed the food and wine options here during a recent dinner. Views around the property are very nice. Service left much to be desired and is not commensurate with a 5-star hotel. A bit pretentious, impersonable and unresponsive. Perhaps guests of the hotel get better treatment so I’d only recommend a meal here if you are staying - otherwise there are better alternatives that are equally nice and delicious in town.

Not many vegan options but wasn't a large menu however there was starter main and desert. All amazing. Quite expensive but you get what you pay for and the food was excellent - so was the view.

All the dishes were very good; breakfast was also nice

Portions were tiny. Probably one of these places that either want to look cool or want to save money. The chef forgot to put the asparagus in the "pasta with asparagus". Obviously not paying a lot of attention. Then sent them to me in a bowl. Service at the bar was good, but not at the restaurant itself. Waiters forgot to bring water and dessert.

Beautiful restaurant in the Cuillin Hills hotel. Great service and we felt well taken care of.. we had the beef Shin and the chicken dish with the bread platter for 2 as an appetizer Breakfast is included. Nice selection of hot and cold items. Great service as always. We had the Traditional Scottish breakfast and Warm Waffles with syrup, bacon and mixed berries. Tasty!

This is now my #2 favorite restaurant in the world, right after a *** spot in Spain. The food, views, and service here are absolutely impeccable - it is without question my favorite restaurant on Skye (I ate several dinners every night I was there). Jon deserves the highest praise for the best service ever! His professionalism, excellent recommendations, and graciousness really stood out and was a top reason why this made my entire trip to Scotland great.

Very friendly welcome and service, the dishes are good and well presented. Once again, like everywhere, it closes very early, we were (again) the last seated while the waiters prepared the room for breakfast Tables of 2 often face the beautiful view. Reservation almost obligatory, even when sleeping on site, it's busy (and this, even out of season)

Tbh, the food is really basic. The menu is super limited. Soup of the day literally 8 pieces of tiny fish cubes. I had fish soup in Oslo, it tasted completely different. I guess UK is not famous for good food.

For dinner, we ordered the whole fish and steak specials. Both were cooked perfectly. The sticky toffee pudding was divine. The best we had in all of Scotland. Service was attentive and friendly. Their mixed berry waffles for breakfast were so good!

Server was nice. Got the isle of Skye venison. The meat Was well cooked and well seasoned. The rest of the dish could’ve been more flavorful and seasoned. Also came out kind of cold. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding which was very good! Warm and not too sweet! Very well baked.

The service and food at The View is worth every penny! I can see why it’s so hard to get into the restaurant. It’s really special when the restaurant in a hotel is excellent, and the hotel is excellent as well. This is definitely the case here!

This restaurant is in an amazing location with a stunning view of Portree. We made a reservation around sunset & the sights were breathtaking. We enjoyed our meals however service was a little slow. They seemed to be understaffed as our server had what looked to be all of the tables in our section & we didn't see him very often. Service was not bad however for the price of the meal, we would have preferred to be checked on for drink refills, etc. We had to ask for our check more than once before we got it & were able to pay. We truly believe this service experience was likely a one-off as the hotel & restaurant appear to be very high quality.

Reservation required. Wonderful upscale dinner in Portree with vegan options, with a lovely view of the water and the colorful houses down below. I had a delicious vegan sweet potato steak type dish and it was beaitully prepared and very flavorful! A fantastic option to end the day and they understood vegan options very well.

Our first dish arrived nicely on time, one was warm the other one was cold, then we had to wait for 1 hour to get our second dish, the Yorkshire pudding was slightly burnt, the meat was very nice but the veggies were bad, with almost no gravy. We had to wait another 30 minutes to get our dessert, it was quite nice but at that stage, we just wanted to leave! 2 hours in a restaurant not because we wanted but because the service was badly organised.

Went for lunch at 12:45. Continually forgot we were there. Ended up taking more than two hours. First course wasnt too bad, and the second course was forgotten for 45 minutes & was part burnt. Apologies were given for late delivery, and then they forgot about dessert until prompted finally arriving 23 minutes after that. The dessert did taste excellent, but all in all, the service was terrible and so was the majority of the food.

En ganska exklusiv restaurant ca 15-20 min promenad från den lilla hamnen. Man förstår varför den heter The View-då den genom stora panorama fönster har utsikt över hamnen och de färgglada husen och småbåtarna. Mat och dryck var utsökt och servicen mkt bra. På tillbakavägen var det mörkt och då "lyste" småbåtarna och speglade sig vackert i vattnet

Aptly named, this restaurant has a beautiful view of Portree and the service was exceptional. I also give it 5 stars for being one of the only (if not the only) place in Portree with an entire vegan/vegetarian menu. Although the food wasn’t perfect, this was a delight to discover.

Absolute perfection in service, atmosphere, dining and comfort. The view is the Chantilly cream on top! Note to pedestrians: The hotel and restaurant are atop a fairly rigorous grade, so this isn’t easily walkable for some.

Decent place for a wanna-be toff to burn their disposable income with a view. If paying through the nose to go away hungry isn't you're thing then eat anywhere else in Portree. I recommend the pizzeria.

Location is just outstanding, with an incredible view on Portree. The food is good and well cooked, but honestly it should serve slightly bigger portions (the one we received were more in line with the one served during a 6/ 9 courses menu). Service is ok, not perfect though. Surely recommended.

I want to give The View 5 stars. The atmosphere and amazing view right away set the tone for a beautiful spot. We were staying at the hotel attached and ended up eating here on two separate occasions. Both times the food was very good, however you could tell that there was a slight drop in quality on the second evening. I expect that consistency across chefs may not be there yet. Additionally, the service although very kind folks can be pretty slow and inattentive. Be prepared to wait a bit for menu items or requests. If you can get over that part, the view and food quality are writhing your time. Had the Sticky Toffee Pudding on our last night in Portree - one of the best things I have ever eaten.
