The Travellers' Rest in Gedling

We used the £10 lunch and drink deal. The lunches are always delicious, especially the ciabatta sandwiches served with fries and salad. The staff are really friendly and helpful, especially our main server Layla. It's quite a way for us to drive, but really worth it.

Food is wonderful, Both the smothered chicken and cheese and bacon burger were lovely. Great atmosphere with friendly staff Appreciate that parts are dog friendly Would highly reccomend if looking for somewhere to eat or if evem just passing through

I came her with my friend to a Sunday lunch. She has been many times before and raved so much. I understand why! The food is outstanding, venue is lovely and has a upmarket but relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful view. Fire place. Boy they had it all. When I was leaving I saw dogs, so dog friendly! Bonus. Will be coming back for sure. Waiters we're lovely! Sorry I forgot to take your name.

Was recommended and had a Lovely meal with family, quality food, quality service and staff especially the waitress layla who served us went above and beyond for us, would highly recommend

Our table for two turned out to be a table for three, my wife looked down to see a mouse at our feet dining on a piece of dropped broccoli, when pointing this out to the waitress she said it been here all week we just can't catch it.The manager didn't even apologize even though he knew about it and when challenged he tried playing it down and said they don't usually come until night time,OMG what an idiot won't be coming back with that kind of attitude towards hygiene.

This wonderful place is our go to coffee stop and eatery. We are always made to feel welcome by the lovely staff. Feels like a home from home ☺️ The coffee is lovely, and the addition of a gooey cookie is welcomed. From the bar snacks to the main meal, it can’t be faulted. A lovely outdoor space to bring our doggy (she is too ratty to go inside) 🥹 they are used to her now, so say hi from a distance! Richard and his colourful shirts are a highlight! Keep them coming 😆

The food was really nice and the people who served us were very friendly would recommend has food for everyone and the kids menu has a great choice and the meals are perfect sizes for the little ones

The food here is absolutely incredible. We’ve been here a few times now and every time the food is spot on. The service we received was second to none, the young girl that served us has served us on more than one occasion and every time she is lovely. The older lady that took our food order and then served us again at the bar afterwards is such a welcoming, friendly lady aswell. The price we paid for our food last night was really good considering the high quality of the food, we were both extremely surprised at how affordable it was! Definitely recommend this place to anybody looking for a nice homely meal at affordable prices in a lovely little pub!

This pub is always excellent, friendly staff who know our names as it is relatively local. Food was excellent, including large portions for everyone amazingly cooked. Absolutely nothing negative to be said!

Yummy food, lovely atmosphere. I got the chicken burger and it tasted nice. It was nice to actually taste the cheese on the burger, must the time it tastes of nothing. My partner got the mixed grill, he enjoyed his. The steak was a little over done but still tasted good, not chewy. They forgot to bring onion rings out with my meal, if I didn’t mention it I probably wouldn’t of got them. Presentation looked a little bland with my meal but it’s about the taste anyway!

Had layla as a waitress who was really nice and professional. Food was really good and was not waiting along time for it. Would recommend

Amazing food and great service. Would fully recommend to anyone in the nearby area. All the food is amazing and the staff are more than happy to be of assistance and are very friendly.

We went expecting a slightly more upmarket pub meal as it used to be but we left rather underwhelmed. My crispy squid was ok but for nearly £7 I expected a little mire squid. My wife’s crispy chicken was perfectly ok and rather nice. My chicken burger meal was average at best. The burger itself was rather small, the onion rings were luke warm and the skin on fries were like cardboard, not good for £15.50. My wifes steak and ale pie was more pastry than steak and ale, it was very large but as said too much pastry. I ordered a soda and lime to drink, I did question my order but was confirmed as the correct drink. It looked like bitter lemon, tasted like bitter lemon, smelled like butter lemon but was lime!!!

I often visit the Travellers Rest and I cannot rate the staff and the food enough. Always welcoming and they cannot do enough for you. Thanks again guys 😊

Staff were welcoming and friendly and very willing to help. Felt as though the food was quite overpriced, had the chicken burger and only got a small handful of chips, another person with me had the steak and ale pie which only had 3 pieces of meat in it - the rest being gravy. For £16-£17 each you’d be wanting your moneys worth. Chips were also cold, waited happily warmed them up but would have liked them hot the first time round. Nice atmosphere but food definitely needs improving.

I’ve been to the traveler rest before and the food was very nice And the staff are very friendly.. But Easter Monday the food was very poor,cold and very dry. And I asked the waitress a question and she rolled her eyes But other member of the staff was very nice. I do hope things will improve.

The menu has changed and the portion sizes are very small. Garlic mushroom starter consisted of a small slice of bread with 2 mushrooms on. Side order of cheesy garlic bread was a very small slice too! Not at all value for money!! The chips on main course didn’t seem fresh. Meals I have had here in the past have been good but this one was poor in comparison. Even the waitress said that quite a few people have complained about the menu!! The menu needs improving and so does the portion sizes. I won’t be visiting this restaurant/pub again.

My wife and I had the meat and fish sharer. Then the lambshank pie followed by the salted caramel sundae for dessert. Every morssal was delicious. The service was also very good. The girls were courteous and friendly. The whole experience was delightful and then to get a blue light discount too made it even better. We'll done everyone. Booked a meal at 13.00 on the 7 March 24 on line which was easy to do. The meal we ordered was good, the starters of garlic mushrooms and Korean chicken strip were excellent. My wife and I had the special belly pork dish which i enjoyed but my wife thought that it may be more traditional but and thought it was ok. The quality of the food was very good and the service too. The people who work there are very attentive without being too intrusive and very friendly. Overall a very good experience one to which we will do again. thank you.

Had a nice lunch today at The Travelers Rest. The food was very good, we had the Seafood grill off the specials, the salmon with new potatoes, a chicken ciabatta with a side of halloumi fries. The service was friendly & efficient.

We visited for the Burns night menu on 25th January. It was a busy night and the place was full when we arrived…the earliest we could get a table was at 20:30..testament to its popularity. £28 for a 4 course menu and it didn’t disappoint...

Absolutely fantastic breakfast! piping hot, perfectly cooked, gorgeous runny yellow yolk in our poached eggs, lovely fresh coffee with cream, and boiling hot English breakfast tea. The bacon was lovely and crispy, the sausages were great quality too and the plates were lovely and warm....

Our first night out in a restaurant since before Christmas 20. Booked a table which was in a nice area, it wasn’t too busy however we waited over an hour for the starter. The main came about 20 minutes after and was very nice. We did have to call the waitress over a couple of times to ask for drinks so we didn’t get much attention and there was no apology about the waiting. Service wasn’t great but the food was nice. I do visit regularly and it was the first time I have had this issue so would assume it’s a one off and won’t stop me from going again.

Popped in after a dog walk, was seated immediately and served, the food was excellent. Tara our staff member was friendly knowledgeable and accommodating ( even though she seemed to be the only staff member on) nothing was too much trouble. Cannot recommend highly enough.
