The Thurrock Hotel & Restaurant in Thurrock

We was the only ones there on a sunny afternoon in August!, empty, dark & uninviting & stuck in the corner of the restaurant. Just 8 finger sandwiches & 2 tea plates of the same cakes that was obvious ready for the wedding that day, no scones, tarts, sausage rolls etc & given 2 white MUGS to help ourselves from the vending machine, then left alone, we had to ask them back as vending machine not working, no tea pot etc. Definitely not enough staff & definitely not worth £31!! How they call it an afternoon tea!. . I refused to pay. Thankfully we was at a wonderful event there in the evening - food not supplied by them!.

Food horrendous chef needs to go back to college , warmed up slop,never had food like this anywhere.i

Booked a table for 1pm for 4 people. It was a treat for my husbands birthday. When we arrived we went to reception, told the receptionist we were booked in at 1 she looked a bit confused but took us through to the dining room where there was only 1 couple there. We sat down and waited about 10 minuts until a lady came to us and gave us 2 menus and said the Sunday lunch would be plated we said not a problem. The menu had no prices on it. I went back to the reception and asked the lady how much it was, she replied she didn't know as she only worked on reception. With that I went back to the dining room and we left. Was not impressed and wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone else.

We booked a table for today, went into the bar, was told that the restaurant was through the double doors when we went in, there was lots of tables, no table cloths on them, no cutlery laid out, no one in there to welcome you, the hot plate serving area was not on, l found a girl who told me you put your order in at the bar, I said "l thought it was a Carvery " she told me it was, well there was no chef on view carving any meat, and only 1 couple actually eating in this room/so called restaurant!! It was a poor, proper dingy & dark area not inviting what so ever, needless to say we didn't stay we walked out. Who ever manages or owns this hotel, take a look in the new Golf Club WHICH IS A CARVERY, just up the old A13 towards Rainham, it was full up, lovely and bright and clean looking and very warm and welcoming, the girls on the reception had lovely smiles for you and the food was first class !!!! the Thurrock really needs to take a step back and look at it self !!!!!

We went to this hotel with family for Sunday lunch when we booked we asked if it was to late and was told no we arrived thats when the problems started.first we ordered the staters but they had run out of sum of them so we had to do with what they had that was with a very long wait hour later we were told the chicken was all gone we complained so we had to wait for it to be cook over all lack of staff.didnt help.we spoke to the manager and he said we can book again for free which we booked for the following fri we arrived at 1.30 and they could not find anywhere to sit us. 1hour had passed and they told us we can sit in the murder and mystery with a young child we said it impossible so later they sat us down in a side room only us . we had to wait for the staff to remember us and took our order we were there about 2 hours from start to finish meal came up in bits and pieces the steak came up burnt and the rest was no better we had enough and walked out not to return

Went into the restaurant on a quiet monday evening. Restaurant was practically empty only a scattering of captive audience hotel guests. We both ordered drinks and a couple of curries with naan bread. After almost an hour and sat with an empty glass and no sign of a waitress I made my way to the bar in search of refreshment. At this point our food magically appeared with an apology about the wait as there was only one chef and were subsequently given free drinks. As we started eating I noticed there was no naan bread and so had to track down the waitress again and question where the bread was. After checking the menu to see if this was supposed to be part of the order she then disappeared and returned with our missing bread. Food was adequate if somewhat uninspiring. Desserts were good. This restaurant really needs some good management. You only have to drive a couple of miles up the road to The Top Meadow to see how food should be served and sadly I wont be returning here until my memory fails me again.

I cannot say what this restaurant is like as if they have anything going on in their function rooms the cannot serve food in the restaurant .

El té de la tarde en el hotel 24 de junio de thurrockmi sobrina reservado merienda para bebé de su hermana ducha, que es libre de gluten también soy vegetariano.Este lugar fue elegido como me dijeron que puede acomodar dos requisitos, tienes que pagar en su totalidad antes del día de su fiesta.Mi sobrina llegó temprano para ver la habitación estaba preparada para encontrarte con una habitación que estaba preparado para una conferencia con proyector y pastillas y lápices en la mesa. El personal tenía que cambiar alrededor, así que mi sobrina podría decorar con colores para bebés incluyendo llevar mesas y sacar.Todos llegamos y la comida justo antes de 12. 30:00 h. No había un puesto de té en la vista y la comida se sirve en bandejas planas la mayoría de los cuales eran los platos de acero inoxidable que la comida estaba cocinada. Los brownies de chocolate eran servidos en una junta que sirve.Como he mencionado tenemos dos necesidades dietéticas, así que cuando la comida estaba en la mesa nos preguntó qué era el gluten y fue la opción vegetariana. El hombre que había comprado la comida en señaló a un rollo que había sido bañados por separado y poner con el resto de la comida. El hecho de que este es un requisito de alergia que creo que más atención se han tomado sin mencionar que fue por la persona embarazada. No mano al gluten persona tuvimos que pasar por la mesa. Él dijo que iba a averiguar qué opción vegetariana era y volver. Alrededor de 15 a 20 minutos y no hay opción vegetariana aparecían y té/café no sea. Mi sobrina fue a la recepción y alrededor de otros 15 minutos alguien compró en un plato de ensalada, patatas fritas de Patata dulce, hongos con un topping y algún tipo de fruta puré de vestidor. Esto no era lo que esperaba ya que había reservado el té de la tarde, yo pensaba que iba a tener bocadillos y pasteles como los demás. Fui a la recepción para preguntar me han servido y una señora apareció llamado Zoe para explicar que era la actual director de servicio. Expliqué mi situación y ella estaba bastante nervioso. Las patatas fritas de camote pedí confirmación de que estaban cocinadas en aceite limpio como en la mayoría de los lugares los nuggets de pollo cocinar y pescar en ellos. Ella no sabe la respuesta y comenzó a elevar su voz en mí para que yo le pregunté. Me preguntó qué me gustaría hacerme chef? Había reservado el té de la tarde, pero como que estaba claramente fuera de la ecuación tendría ensalada y pan integral, mantequilla y bata no. Mientras yo estaba por tener este momento uno de los huéspedes en nuestro baby shower vinieron a la recepción como ella no podía abrir el frasco de té, el recepcionista abrió para ella.La ensalada y pan (2 rebanadas) llegamos, (10 minutos) por suerte para mi estoy acostumbrado a lugares de no poder acomodar vegetariano, así que siempre trae mi propia leche y queso, suerte porque no estaba en el escenario ofrecieron una leche alternativa.Como la tarde era de dibujo en que necesitábamos más té y agua, pero en ningún momento alguien venga a la sala para completar cualquier satisfacción cheques o ver si necesitábamos un máximo de té, café y leche, etc. Tuvimos que ir a recepción y preguntar. Fue especialmente decepcionante, ya que alguien tenía que dejar el partido cada vez que necesitábamos algo. La mesa fue con el apiladas platos sucios, vasos, tazas, platos para servir, etc.Alrededor de las 3. 30:00 fui a la recepción para hablar con Zoe de nuevo para avisar que no estaba contento con cualquier procedimiento de los días y sobre todo no contento con la comida que habían servido a mí. Dijo que el Director General había llegado y consiguiera él de venir a hablar conmigo. Un hombre se presentó a mí y me explicó su nombre era Bradley, le pregunté si él era el hombre que trajeron la comida a mi función y él dijo que sí, le pregunté por qué su colega dijo que tenía a ir. Él dijo que él estaba trabajando en la boda. Esto me puso en el pie de atrás, ya que claramente no dicen la verdad. Me gustaría añadir que como fui hasta el hotel y vimos 3 estrellas muestra orgullosa me pareció que el servicio sería mucho diferente ya hubieran tenido que cumplir con ciertas normas del hotel que se concedan estas estrellas y que el hombre delante de mí, que aparentemente era el gerente general, al menos tienen un traje y no jeans y un blazer.Me explico de nuevo cómo me había visto el día y cómo mi opción vegetariana era bastante por debajo del estándar y que la opción sin gluten no fue dada a la persona adecuada y que no registramos en nosotros en cualquier momento durante la tarde. Su respuesta fue verdaderamente chocante! Explicó que el si queríamos que cualquier otro té/agua, etc, y teníamos que ir a recepción y y preguntar. Me dijo que nadie había registrado toda la tarde si estaban bien y dijo que era su decisión que si queríamos algo podemos ir a recepción. Me explicó que si eso era lo que él quería hacer entonces que necesitaba para decirle a la gente de la función, así que teníamos una idea de lo que estaba pasando y que no era muy amable servicio al cliente. Me repetía que era su decisión y si queríamos algo teníamos que ir a la recepción. Fui a explicar que la tarde entera era incoherente y el té y el café llegó mucho tiempo después de la comida se entregó. Bradley dijo que era entregado a los 5 minutos de la comida. Esto no puede ser cierto ya que he mencionado la recepcionista abrió el frasco de té y fue bastante tiempo después de la comida había llegado. Entonces mi comida vegetariana, me dijeron que la ensalada y pan fue extra de lo que había pedido originalmente. Me preguntó qué era entregado para mi merienda vegetariana y dijo que había un plato de fruta. Este plato de fruta era entregado con el resto de la comida y en ningún momento se dijo que esto fue para el vegetariano. Cuando la comida era enviada por el Director General que Bradley preguntó qué era la opción vegetariana era dijo que sería hora y volver a nosotros. Así que este nuevo no es cierto.Bradley dijo que creía que el servicio era impecable y que había entregado un buen servicio.Lo único que se me ocurre decir que necesita más formación como si hay un cliente permanente en frente de usted diciendo que no son felices no deberían tratar de participar en una climatizada cambiar donde el cliente, yo tuve que decir que no tienen un argumento. Por favor, el reembolso de los costos de la comida vegetariana. Me preguntó cómo he pagado y me dijeron que tendría que consultar con mi sobrina que estaba en la sala de actos y nos dijo que podíamos volver al mostrador, oían que no iba a caminar a la habitación. Le pregunté por el formulario necesario y sin que pase a mi sobrina. Recibí la de mi sobrina y pasaron a.Nadie de mi grupo, volvería al hotel thurrock y había viajado por todas las zonas de Essex y Londres.Yo a la izquierda justo antes de las 4:00 y la comida había sido en la mesa 3. 5 horas en 23 grados más de calor. Había comida caliente que se han enfriado y comida fresca que fue sin duda muy por encima de la temperatura de la habitación incluyendo mayonesa de huevo y pescado. Pienso que la seguridad alimentaria no es alto en la agenda de este hotel y ha habido un claro desprecio por la dieta/alergia toda la información dada antes de la fecha de llegada, no hay comida estaba etiquetada, la mayoría de la mesa estaba seguro si era crema o mantequilla servida en los recipientes para los bollos incluso después de degustación y dejó fuera pasado las directrices del gobierno. yo le aconsejaremos el EHO de tan pobre nivel pobre!No volvería a este hotel ni ninguno de los clientes que asistieron al baby shower hoy.

Aunque el hotel es antiguo, y sin duda necesita algunas mejoras, tuve una estancia muy agradable.Este es mi consejo: reservar una suite ejecutiva, no buscamos Bradley, el gerente general (él es altamente personalizado y profesional).La comida y el servicio eran preciosas.Muchas gracias a Chloe en la recepción.

Got here. All staff helpful and nice. Just in restaurant ordered pork belly n truffle chips. Wow. Cold but they got new ones. Couldn't be more helpful. Room nice. Can't wait till Abby lee function

Food very poor & cold for the price no bread rolls available had to get your own teas & coffees. a table of four were given the same amount of vegetables and same cheese board as a table of eight so a few people had to go with out when we complained we were told only one bowl of vegetables & cheese board per table. Disappointed with all the food provided. Bar staff to busy texting rather than serving only one member of the bar staff served at any one time.

We booked up for Christmas Day Lunch and at the time of booking we asked the following questions:

had our xmas party here, the food was good and bar service also good.booked a room for the night to save paying for a cab, could have even stayed at the premier inn nearby for half the cost but thought for convenience might as well stay.room was a good size and very clean and a mix of old and modern décor, had an ironing board and iron already in the room which is handy not many hotels offer this.had a issue working the shower but with some elbow grease it was fine.after the party ended retired to the bedroom about 2am, unfortunately a couple attending the wedding party in the other function room were making love at all hours next door to me due to the thin walls not even ear plugs would have helped but at least they were having a good time! all in all not a terrible hotel yes it is creaky but it is a very old hotel in fairness, would stay here again but would take a partner to go into battle ;)

We stayed here for a night at a cost of £69 which is average for the area, it wasn't really a problem but it would of been nice to be told there was a function on that night as our room was above the function room so a little noisy, all night the door kept sounding like it was going to open and every floor creaks as you walk, the walls, skirting and carpets are all dirty. The tv didn't work very well and the bathroom wasn't very nice either! The window wouldn't open or shut without force and the walls are paper thin so you could hear quite clearly your neighbours arguing! Will never be back unless my car breaks down right outside and I'm left stranded and all the local hotels of full and I have a bout of amnesia!

We had fish and chips the first night it was beautiful great taste and presented really nice too and had full English on both mornings so much to choose and you could also have items that were cooked and brought out to you like salmon poached eggs so really nice

Visited this hotel on business. Restaurant is spacious but little natural light. A good choice on the menu and the food was well prepared and hot when served. The restaurant was empty when we ordered yet service still took forty five minutes. The conference facilities were good with helpful staff. A nice hotel in a good position close to the M25.

I've been here a few days and my stay was tainted by previous reviews so I've been eating elsewhere. Tonight I fancied a little glass of Pinot so ate at the hotel and to my utter shock.... the steak I had was excellent, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My waitress was friendly and chatty too. As for my stay ..my room has an enormous modern bathroom and comfy bed, though I acknowledge the wide landings need new carpet and imagine rooms not yet refurbished exist too. No-one has the millions to refurbish a once grand hotel of this size in one go, but the process has begun and any review inspired by tired decor in the interim period can be massively offset by having friendly attentive staff, good food and clean rooms.

Went to a wedding evening on Friday,which was lovely,apart from staff and drinks.£4.30 a pint and then 70p extra for a dash of lime!!!thats £5 a go,this is Essex not Chelsea!!and one of my friends ordered vodka and lemonade,and the barmaid didn't put any vodka in it at all,when told what she did she looked shifty as hell,the staff were rude and dodgy.apart from that food and dj was good.

Booked in here for two nights and got upgraded to an excecutive room which was very nice, coffee maker in room with coffee pods,only problem was there was a humming noise all night possibly from the heating. Otherwise a very pleasant hotel with friendly staff.

Ok, so to start, the woman in reception was appalling and it took almost 45 minuets to check in, even though there was already around 10 people waiting, despite keep apologising and telling us all she doesn't know what she is doing which I found appalling I then entered the bar where I was greeted by two friendly female bar staff who made the situation a little easier after apologising and lighting the situation, until I couldn't charge to my room because the receptionist hadn't done her job properly I then waited for a following fifteen minutes to be reseen by the receptionist I then after being informed it was sorted returned to the bar where the younger girl who seemed new attempted again only for it to fail On calling her fellow female bar member who could have been her boss I'm unsure who was actually doing what, she then set up a tab and arranged for it to be sorted The food came out for £10.50 the pizza was awful The base wasn't cooked, the chillies wasn't hot, and the beer was warmso I left for my room, to find the bath was filthy and the tv was playing up All in all was a disappointment

We went to a function there and stayed the night. The room was cheap but the only one offered when booked but the room was very sad . Patches of wall paper that was not faded like the rest it was clean but we left the windows open as the room had a musty smell. The bed was the issue it was small and hard and wobbled. The light bulbs need replacing over sink and bed . I spoke to reception about another room and they could not have been nicer and offered us another room , this was a thousand times better although still a musty smell we would have booked the exec room if we had known about it. The breakfast room is dark as they did not turn any lights on which was strange you eat to the lights from the warmer and the tea was from a flask . There is a lack of furnishings no soft cushions flowers in reception very bare throughout the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times

This is the first and only time I'll be staying here. Firstly, I arrived after dark and the entrance to the hotel (off Ship Lane) was not obvious, even with a Sat Nav. There are no illuminated signs and I spent nearly an hour driving up and down looking for the entrance. Not what you want after a long day!My room was clean, tidy and well equipped, so no complaints there, but the rest of the hotel looked tired and unwelcoming. (Particularly the reception area).In my opinion, there are better quality hotels in the area with similar rates.

Our Christmas Doo was ruined on Saturday 19th December .I cannot believe what poor service was provided by the staff . There manners were appalling , and their attitude towards us was BAD. The food was not even edible , all undercooked and lack of it . There were 12 of us and our night was a disaster because of the Thurrock hotel . You do NOT get table service for your drinks , you have to go to the bar . The mixers lemonade / coke were flat . No ice in the drinks .There was No entertainment . Food being served took far too long and was Cold & undercooked. When I complained to the operations manager ( Dan Mack ) he gave me his card and said it will be dealt with on Monday . He wasn't very apologetic and never even offered us a drink . Will never recommend this venue

Food was a disappointment (carvery menu) starter-very small portion and a large hair, mains- beef needed a tampon, greasy potatoes, inedible vegetables. Desert- nice, but too small. Of the 4 staff members that I had interaction with 2 were very pleasant and eager to assist, 1 was disinterested and verging on rude and the other, the chef made inappropriate comments, when another diner choose a cut of beef he remarked how his dog would be going hungry tonight. Maybe I can understand the portion size as its only £17.50 for 3 courses, but this is not comparable with similar local restaurants. We will not be returning.

Really disappointing food. Steak is a joke. I guess there are enough people who don't check tripadvisor reviews before coming here.

We logeerden in dit hotel en vonden het zo makkelijk om van het hotel-restaurant gebruik te maken. Het eten was best lekker en werd mooi geserveerd. Sommige dagen zijn er "meal deals". Je kan in de bar of in de eetzaal je maaltijd nemen. Wij vonden de prijs-kwaliteit goed.

We visited the restaurant as a family and had a lovely Sunday lunch. We had a three course meal, starters were served to the table. We then had the carvery which was first class. Desserts very nice too. The waiter a young gentleman gave us an outstanding service,so polite and attentive. Would thoroughly recommend.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night and to be honest thats 1 night to many ,,,,door hanging off of the bathroom ,TV had been smashed ,this was reported but nothing done , reported to the manager who informed me the person in the room before me had smashed up the room and had to asked to leave ,so Dan the manager offered me a refund because the room was awful and nothing worked ,but dont be fooled this man is worse than dodgy Arthur Daley ,he came out with excuse after excuse ,he even spoke to my daughter ,she gave him card details ,then he asked for security number ,luckily she refused ,the place is a run down ,the so called manager cant be trusted ,you are better off in a tent in a nearby field than here,book this at your peril.

Went to Thurrock hotel for a hen night. Was shocked when ordering drinks, £18 for a bog standard bottle of rose wine,! Food was mediocre, cold veg and sea bass was more like a goldfish in size. Wouldn't recommend or revisit!

Reasonable food for a reasonable price more of a functional place to stay wouldn't call it romantic. You could take a Friend, guest etc and not be disappointed. Drink expensive.Poor quality ale.

Ok but nothing tooooo special. There are nicer place to eat and cheaper places to stay although they do a lot of wedding at this venue.

Nice hotel even though its location leaves a little to be desired. Stayed here for a family funeral. Made the journey easy into London. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good if a little crowded at times.

Visited for a family members wedding. Lovely food and great quality. Most of the staff were friendly and enjoyed what they were doing. Would recommend a wedding here. :-)

Great service, assisted with room for daughters baby shower in November. Room was lovely. All had good time.

I cannot comment on the venue or food as I never got to experience a meal booked for Sunday 3rd May as it was cancelled on 30th April. My comment is based on my experience of the call I received to cancel my table in the restaurant. i booked a table for a family Sunday lunch on 29th April, on 30 th April I received a call from a male member of staff from the hotel advising 'your table is cancelled'. No apology nor explanation why. When I questioned if it was just my table that had been cancelled, i was advised the food order hadn't arrived so Sunday lunch had been cancelled. Still no apology. Overall customer experience zero. I have to feel sorry for anyone staying in the hotel over this weekend, hope they have some food with them!

A relative paid for a night in the hotel for our wedding anniversary.we had the bridal suite which was lovely and had no complaints.However the meal we had was a different story.i was told the restaurant opened just for us as they'd had a problem of some sort in the kitchen.I would rather have ate outside the hotel as the meal was abysmal for a hotel like this.sort of meal you would get in McDonald's.Think they fair better on the specialist evenings but we were the only 2 in the restaurant.Break fast faired a bit better.

Plenty of parking, friendly staff, comfortable large rooms with decent bath and shower, free WIFI. Breakfast buffet not the hottest

I stayed here whilst undertaking a business trip. My first impressions of the exterior were of The Overlook hotel from the Stephen King novel The Shining. Ok. So on entering it immediately became apparent that this hotel was quiet. Weirdly quiet. In fact I was waiting to hear Moonlight, The Stars and You being played on a gramaphone somewhere. In all seriousness at £88 I did expect more having experienced another stay in the area a little while ago which was completely at the other end of the quality spectrum. The room I was placed in was about the size of a large walk in wardrobe and clearly had been recently decorated but unfortunately displayed serious issues where water had come in. The temperature was positively equitorial and in the high 20's prompting me to sleep on the bed albeit very uncomfortably throughout the night. The bathroom however was the polar opposite and clearly had been refurbished and was very pleasant (if tropical). The hotel WiFi did not work and this was reported to reception where I was told it would be reset. Despite this there was still no WiFi. Due to the very small bed and tropical climate in the room I got a very bad nights sleep. In the morning I went down for breakfast which I must say was actually good. Some of the management / staff had an interesting dress code comprising of untucked shirts and trainers which I didn't expect. In summary I wouldn't stay here again if I'm honest and really couldn't recommend it. If you had absolutely no other option then go ahead otherwise steer well clear.

I booked our party of six for the Valentines Dinner which co-incided with my husbands 'special' birthday. On arrival I was disappointed to see the function room was bare, cold and no sign of any Valentine decorations or table decorations. There was no provision for coats so we had to eat with them draped over the back of our chairs. The waiting staff were probably 15 or 16 years old and obviously not trained sufficiently. One poor lad dropped our tray of sorbets at our feet. Another tried to balance a tray of drinks in one had whilst serving with the other and disaster was only averted when one of us managed to jump up and help him. The food was mediocre and 'chef' forgot to add ice cream to the jelly and ice cream dessert!! The only saving grace was the DJ. All in all, I was very disappointed with the evening, bearing in mind it was a treat for my husband. I have emailed the Events Manager and am awaiting a response. I wish I had read the reviews prior to booking as it appears my experience was not a one off.

The service from the barman was prompt and he was very friendly. Disappointed when I had ordered a salmon sandwich, only to be told the didn't have any. We were the only people in the resteraunt. The menu wasn't very extensive so little choice. The television was blaring out with football. Not what you expect in a hotel of this calibre. The room was very chilly and requested that we had our coffee somewhere warmer. We were shown to the resteraunt which was also empty and just as cold.

i really do not want to write all them complaints out again, briefly arrival No staff, food terrible, wait for food terrible, staff useless, breakfast staff even worse, complained no heating in the room manager came went off to check what options there was and never returned at all, bathroom sounded like a harley davis was riding thru every time the chain flushed or water was run, hot water was so hot that it was dangerous, sent a letter of complaint very quickly after our stay there on new years eve and to date never had a reply. Worse hotel i have ever stayed at.

There a saying you get what you pay for!Its not a brand new building like most of the other hotels in the area but is value for money as the other hotels in the area are changing 20 to 50 pound more! If you need a room to get your head down for a night or two this is not a bad place to stay.

loved staying here. it is a very family orientated hotel and the food is excellent. the beds are nice and comfortable and the tv's are bigger than the other hotels in the area

Cold food. terrible environment. Friendly helpful member of staff the only one we found. Like eating in a garage.

Restaurant food is very good, but it stops there. The place doesn't look like the pictures on the website. the Reception desk looks as if it was pulled out of a skip and the rooms although clean are very tired and out dated. The shower is dangerous, I had to keep getting out of the shower as the water suddenly becomes scalding hot. It has been many years since I saw a silver fish, but there they were 2 of them in my bath towels.As for the staff, there is one or two that are helpful but mostly they were unhelpful and quite rude. And parts of the building smell like a nursing home !

This hotel would make an ideal old peoples home on the basis that most of the guests would probably be deaf and therefore not be bothered about the M25 motorway which is less than 200 yards away.The hotel itself is in desperate need of an upgrade.

See my submission regarding this hotel nearby to where I work in Aveley, Essex I really think my submission covers it all.

Excellent hotel, rooms are clean comfortable, The restaurant serves excellent food for all tastes and the staff are really helpful, a real must stay hotel

The interior of the hotel looks like an institution but the restaurant is very stylish and modern. The adventurous menu was initially a worry but the quality of the food was outstanding. The calves liver was the best dish I have eaten for a very long time and the price was the same as any average pub restaurant. Service, by Reiss, was first-class, efficient and friendly but not over-bearing. I would heartily recommend the restaurant - don't judge a book by its cover!

Worst hotel i have ever stayed at.The rooms need a good decorate and better heating there is no hot water and i was there for three weeks.The resturant has very limited choice of food and often have ran out of what they do offer.The staff do not seem to care so when you do complain it does not seem to bother them.Trying to get served at the bar can be a challenge as the staff especially the woman (Julie)is mostly out the back speaking to the kitchen staff.After three weeks i moved across to the Premier Inn where i have been for the last three weeks and my stay there is excellent.

Really nice freshly cooked food and great service. Shame it's not open during the day as some guests are there still. Had a nice lounge/bar area

Let's start with a quote from the website: "Whether it is a hearty breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea..." I'll stop at 'afternoon tea' because that is what we booked and paid for, but we were told on the day at the venue that we would be getting a buffet. Oh really... so the customer isn't always right, then. The buffet was laid out almost an hour after our arrival! If you decide that you're going to offer Afternoon Tea to customers, then do some research first: internet for starters; even better would be to have Afternoon Tea at other places who do it very well.I'm saving the best 'til last: Reece gets 10/10 for to-ing and fro-ing between the bar and the buffet table whilst remaining calm and polite at all times. Very professional.

Good food, basic but decent. Prices are far better than other places in and around London. Try the mushroom pasta

the food was freshly cooked, good variety. good sized portions. It was all very tasty and well presented.

Office Christmas party, arrived and asked a member of staff where to put coats, i.e. cloakroom, he pointed us in the direction and when we got there it was just a boot sale rack with a load of hangers on ... no proper cloakroom. Paid £30+ for 3 course meal, food was terrible ... soup starter was like pureed baby food, no seasoning. The meat course of beef or turkey was pre-sliced meat warmed in gravy as all the meat was the same size, brussell sprouts so hard couldn't pierce with a fork and the dessert of a brandy basket with fruit was so sharp, all desserts served with no choice of cream/ice cream so had to be requested. After the meal everyone was told that if they would like tea or coffee we could go help ourselves at the beverage station!!!! £30+ for a meal and you have to go and get your own beverage! Many of the staff were very inexperienced for such a large venue with a lot of staff very young, no problem with the staff as they were polite but just not experienced enough for such a large venue. Tables had been so crammed in that there wasn't enough room to sit back to back for 4 members of staff so had to shuffle around, so many people around table that there wasn;'t enough room to eat properly. All in all for £30+ not good enough so won't rushing back there in a hurry and would certainly not recommend to other colleagues

Good choice of food and staff very attentive.As a lone female it is important to feel comfortable dinning alone.The staff made the stay very welcoming and friendly.

very limited choice on the menu but the food was good quality. staff first class. some of the furnature had seen better days but still did the job.

We had a large family Sunday Lunch Party, and the food and service was excellent.Thank you to the Staff and Management for looking after us so well.

i stayed in august and witnessed a very rude {not english} lady staff member telling another member of staff what to do,in a very unpolite manner, dont really want to hear that when im enjoying my tasty breakfast. also the entrance area smells like a care home. maybe some fresh cut flowers would cheer it up some.

They need to sort the whole thing out, food, staff, cleanliness, the art deco feel in reception was nice, but thats it!!!

stayed monday night for business, good service and brilliant breakfast. will come again.

This is the 4th time we have been to The Thurrock Hotel & Restaurant and each time has been a good experience.We have attended a Wedding, Mother's Day, Birthday and Fathers Day at different times in the year. Each time the service, food and ambience has been good. They catered easily for our large family groups each time.We have stayed at the Hotel twice and been very comfortable.We will certainly return.
