Had a great evening at a recent private party food was great especially the homemade chips,stomsphere was great as well

Just called in this place on a day out..Sunday lunch was proper good food .service fantastic and the views over to Emley Moor were amazing..can't fault this place..highly recommend you visit

Busy pub for.food at lunchtime. Would have benefitted from having more staff on as the lady behind the bar was running round serving and waiting on tables.

Just had afternoon tea with my friends well worth the price and it was beautiful 😍

We have recently celebrated our sons 30th birthday here.. We cant express enough the service we received. The buffet was very very good for the cost and catered for our vegan family. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to make our night one to remember. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to book a small party/gathering to come here u will not be disappointed. Thank you again so much xx

First time today, 30th July... my 2 friends had no issues, but I didn't have a choice for a vegetarian meal just a spicy burger that came with chips , salad , onion rings , sounded nice.. well salad was just a bit of packet salad, burger had no relish, and no onion rings.. chips were yummy tho... was still hungry when I got home ..

Called in for lunch we had a £5 special, sweet chilli chicken ciabatta melt and proper chips (they were lovely) I had baked potato with cheese and beans plus salad very nice , with drinks only came to just over £18 where can you get such good value , really friendly staff also dog friendly will be back.

The lunch and staff were so good. Definitely worth a visit

Called in for lunch with my mum and dad, my dad had the cheese and tomato chiabatta fiver deal with home cooked chips, my mum had the soup of the day, and I had the hot roast beef chiabatta with onion rings and home cooked chips. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! We all enjoyed it and we're stuffed! absolutely great value! The roast beef was yummy, and came with home made gravy! we tried asking for the secret recipe! 🤣 my dad enjoyed his cheese and tomato chiabatta, and for £5 there was plenty! my mum really enjoyed her soup and said it was very tasty! great staff, and lovely place! will be back! 😊 hom!!

Food good children enjoy there food

Food was lovely, although some of the chips were undercooked and the veg was not nice, unfortunately atmosphere was lacking, it was a sunny day but the outside area in the carpark is lacking, a nicer area in todays society is a must, decking/false grass area, plants, heaters etc are needed. Would I come back hmmmm not sure.

Haven't been to this place for a while, lovely homely warm pub with three handpulls on - nice to have these as a long time since I visited there were no handpulls - recommended.

Had lunch and it was the first time in the place for years. Can highly recommend and definitely will be going again. Everything from the food,staff and ambiance of the place was top notch. Thank you for a lovely afternoon

Good pub food, a cracking steak and ale pie with proper homemade chips and your own jug of gravy.

It used to be a friendly pub but since covid it's had several landlords, the current one is a complete numpty, had been in a couple of hour's and because one of our party tossed an uneaten sausage roll two feet behind Us on to a table, she had security ask us to leave,you'd think it had been thrown across the pub the way she carried on. Told her where to stick her head.

Only called in for a pint on this occasion. Stayed for two. Karaoke was entertaining.

We visted thorn tree last thursday and it did not disappoint. We thought the atmosphere was so lovely and everyone is very welcoming. Having had a delicious afternoon tea here in the summer we decided to return for the winter menu. This time we ordered a curry and it was so delicious. The food was so so good and home made -we really enjoyed every bite. The prices are amazing too. Well worth it. I loved the fact that all the staff were genuinely smiley and helpful and could not do enough for us. It is also very clean. We also loved that it is dog friendly in one of the sections too. We also loved the fact that there is an offer on the food every night and the manager kat has put so much effort and detail into everything. Its great. We look forward to coming back to some of the events and will be at the quiz one night too. What a lovely gem in Osset. We can't wait to return. Parking is also easy round the back and lovely views. Nice pub but had a bad experience with the food and the barmaid didn't seemed too bothered with the issue "apparently the steak is tough" it was like shoe leather and the still charged for it even though had the cheaper option was told to go there as it was really good won't be returning pity as its a nice cosy pub

Visited the Thorn Tree for the first time last Saturday. Really nice decor inside and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a couple of drinks and some food, and the food and service were very good. Can't believe I've lived in Ossett all these years and never been in but will definitely be returning 👍

We went to a meeting. The beers etc were excellent.

I love this pub. It has live music and karaoke. The owners are friendly and most of all the clientele are decent which creates a nice friendly atmosphere. Plenty of nooks and cranies to sit in for privacy and a lovely patio at the rear that looks out onto the countryside.

Brilliant fresh home cooked food, beautiful pub and great prices. Been 3x now and will definitely be back 😋

Lovely, friendly pub which is good for a quiet drink during the week and also has live music and pub quizzes too, which are busier nights but still great fun. Thank you to Kat, Hayley and the team for the warm welcome which is always gratefully received, I'm a shy guy who lives alone so it's good to know there's somewhere I can go locally to make friends, have a few drinks and a decent night out. Our first time in the Thorn Tree for Years. Pleased to say it was a lovely visit. Excellent pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord served by very friendly staff. Nicely laid out with modern decor and good community feel. Deserves to do well. We will be back!

For price not very much food. Fish and chips was like a birds eye fish. I was expecting something different for the price they charge. All though the tapas on the next table looked good

A very warm welcome is wholeheartedly bestowed upon patrons on arrival. I attended on a Thursday evening for 'Ladies Night'. The environment was alive with a multitude of women of varying ages, stalls selling Cakes, & several others offering different gift options. There was a good old fashioned, light hearted game of bingo, a raffle & a multitude of drinks to sample. The landlady really is a breath of fresh air who wants to make a real difference to her community. It is a genuine pleasure to welcome her back to the Thorntree where she obviously belongs.

Very quiet on a sunny hot afternoon. Staff were lovely and the beer was cold. Sat outside on the terrace. Front (outside) of the pub could have done with a sweep as there was litter near the table and chairs.

If I could give no stars I would just like the no service we had in there. Barmaid servers people who came in after us and left us stood there with no drinks. Walked out.

Not a bad pub. Went in on a Saturday. Guy djing. Not a fan of karaoke but he had a decent voice and played some good stuff. Beer was okay and it was a friendly atmosphere.

Good to have another live performance venue back.too many have closed in the wakefield area. Saw Sean o sullivans eleven 18 band,top band.really hoping they will be back at the thorn tree soon.keep up the good work 👏

Now under new management. Gone are the underaged drinkers, late nights revellers,etc,etc.. Seems like a good experienced couple gave taken over running it. Sunday lunch is now availble

Really lovely pub! After travelling a fair distance we were glad to stop. We received a warm welcome from the lovely landlord and landlady who made time to make us feel at home. Everything was spotlessly clean, prices were very reasonable, parking ample, and the decor and atmosphere were lovely. We'll definitely stop in again next time we are in the area. I'd like to go there at the weekend as I've heard great things about the roast dinners! Can't fault it. 5 stars!!!

Lovely pub , Freindly and warm atmosphere and the landlord and landlady are most welcoming. The serve a variety of basket meals and do Sunday lunches too. The entertainment is on a weekend is Karaoke and Disco which is a great night. They now have Sky too which is a added plus. I reccomend this pub for Couples , Families and Singles

Just had fish and chips for lunch with my granddaughter and the service and food is lovely. I will be coming back on Sunday for a roast dinner and again on Tuesday for the children's group. Very happy I have found a pub that is local and pleasant x

Fantastic place, small compact and easy going. Very friendly staff to serve and beautiful quotes on the wall to make you think where is your life going and how you want to take it. Karaoke made it very special, we went for Christmas Dinner. The singer was fantastic and some in our own group sang so we'll that the evening became memorable. It's on the main road so easy to reach and there is parking on the rear, which can be tricky to reach, however it is well sign posted.

Visited Thorn Tree Tuesday for a funeral wake, several of the group were complaining regarding the quality of the beer. I had the Blonde Real Ale, its was undrinkable. The John Smith's cask was flat in minutes, the Guinness took five attempts to pull a pint. I don't write this post lightly.The pub is clean and welcoming but to be successful in the pub trade the quality of your beer must be addressed.
