The Thirsty Goat Derry in Derry

Seemed a very local pub with the staff knowing many of the people there. The food and drinks were decently priced. A little loud but to be expected at a pub. I had the fish and chips which was a standard dish and chip dish the fish did taste very fresh

Me and my friends were in the thirsty goat for paddy’s day. We are all 21 and over and had only one drink in us when we got there because it was only about half 4. The bouncers checked our IDs at the door and we were standing waiting for a drink. Out of nowhere some bouncers came up to us and started being really nasty telling us to get the f out and physically escorted us out while we were saying we are completely sober and fine. Apparently it was over 23s even though we got let in and these bouncers were telling us we were too drunk to be in there and my friend’s boyfriend was playing and they called her a liar. He ended up leaving the bar and not playing because of how nasty the bouncers are. do not give these people any of your money they are rats

This place is the worst bar in Derry it doesn’t deserve any business at all. DO NOT GO HERE

The food wasn’t good, curry sauce tasted like it was from a pre-made supermarket tin, and the rice, chicken and chips all felt like very cheap ingredients, like something from a deli counter in a shop rather than a proper meal that costs around 10 pounds. There seems to be a lack of staff as nobody was around to order a separate drink as somebody from out group arrived late. The music is way too loud and there were many groups of very loud people, which can't be helped, but does lower the experience. Overall, I wouldn't recommend.

Great place for a lunch. We ate well: simple and well presented dishes. Pleasant service. In short, everything you could hope for to have a good time.

1st time here. And last. Staff at the bars and serving food were so nice and polite. The lady at the main door and a member of the security staff ruined what should have been a family celebration..

Was refused food service 20 mins before kitchen close until one of the waitress did the managers job for them. Once drinks were received , the unhygenic supervisor ‘Kieran’ threw us dirty looks which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We received our food 45 mins later (after another table who came in 20 mins after us (past close)). Management is clearing out the customers from the venue. Re-structure. Thanks, A fellow hospitality worker.

Absolute shocking experience, was out back in the beer garden was told we don't serve food out here but a table of 8 sat down after us and ordered food, then a table of 4 And a table of 3 we were waiting on a high chair also but yet never got one then a table in after us got one. To then be told by management they will look into it but yet we still weren't allowed to order food and was told.kithen was to busy but we can take you into the restaurant. But why were other people served food without us as it was manly only our kids looking food anyway

I was there last sunday, Horrible treatment, we travel from dublin and wanted to have a dinner... no waitress came yo pick our order and after 40 min and being ignore by several personal stuff with " be right back" I went to look for someone and the lady in the reception told me " there's service personal on the floor, did you not see them ? " and we left. Never has such a bad treatment before, lovely place buy the personal or is to stress or don't care at all.

After checking online at the Thirsty Goat Derry website and seeing a notice on the menu that they were open until 9PM for dinner, we walked into the restaurant at 7PM give or take 1 minute, and were refused service. Even if they closed for dinner at 7PM, IN SPITE OF WHAT THE WEBSITE STATED, refusing service within one minute of that time is inexcusably rude! As a small business owner, I would fire an employee for being rude to a customer and causing a loss of business to my establishment. Clearly, this individual was not acting in the best interests of his employer!

Great music and drinks. Didn't eat here but the food looked good.

Three adults dining mid week evening. Service was friendly and speedy. We didn’t wait at all for drinks or food. Great variety even on the two course for £14.95 menu. Plentiful portions and everything was really tasty. This was recommended by a local taxi guide; we’re glad we took his advice ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Food in here is usually pretty good and the service always was too until recently but the last couple of times we were in the service was really poor. Standing waiting to be seated for an eternity while staff walked past us not so much as looking in out direction. After finally getting seated nobody came to give is menus or take drink orders even when i was waving to get their attention they just walked on past to the point i had to get up and walk around looking for somebody to serve us or at least give us a menu. I will say that on occasions service was poor louise wasnt there and when she is that wouldnt happen but doestnt help if shes not the much. Food was still pretty good but i cannot stand poor service and wont be retuning anytime soon

The food was excellent. The service was slow although it was very busy and Louise wasn't working. The music is far too loud when you are trying to have a family meal. The loud music alone would make me think twice about returning, unfortunately.

Uncomfortably loud music. We were there a few weeks ago and it was fine and a normal level for a bar but was there again on Saturday night and our group all left within the hour as the music volume was ear splitting loud and just so unbelievingly uncomfortable. Such a shame as it could have been such a good night if not for that. Terrible.

My family and I were out for a cousins 40th birthday party when we got a snap of one of the cousins saying she popped her knee. Went to the smoking area where I met Eoin who knew straight away who I was talking about. Went up and Shelly, plus the other barman who's name I forgot to get (he loves an organised mess 👀) was waiting with her and caring for her. 19/10 service looking after someone and making sure they're okay. They definitely deserve a big bonus 👌

I like chilli Pasta and chilli sweet potato fries

Had lunch before heading off to Belfast Airport. Service quick. Food hot and delicious. Best crispy chips ever !!!! Would definitely go back.

Called here yesterday after traveling from coleraine it wasnt overly busy so we went to order a drink two male staff and a female who all seen us looked at us and ignored us no one else around, we stood for 10 minutes and didnt even get a hello wel be with u in a few, the female worker actually came to us looked at us lifted a straw and turned her back, at this point we walked out wont be back

The food was so tasty! The staff were all so lovely, especially Jude the barman who had everyone laughing. The way the bottomless brunch works is, it is £30pp and you get one meal choice (I've uploaded a menu to see). Then you have unlimited prosecco glasses for up to 2 hours. You are then moved to a reserved table in the outside/inside dinning area. The downside I'd say is, you have no desert option unless you pay extra, which isn't bad if you are drinking enough. Otherwise, £30 is a bit much. The other major downside is, although you apparently have a table reserved, you don't have it for long (which you are not warned about). We still hadn't finished our extra drinks we'd bought and we were told we have to move. We left after this. Although the food was very nice, I'd not be in a rush back. I probably should mention the fact we'd paid a £50 deposit that wasn't taken from our bill. We had to dispute it and show proof of this. So if you are going, bring proof of your deposit and check your bill.

One of the better bars when we visited Derry, good seating and live music. Knocked a star off as one staff member said I couldn’t order a cocktail after 11pm and yet my friend was able to order them with a different member of bar staff way past that time.

Came here for a drink.. this was my first time here. I would really recommend. Efficient service out in the beer garden. Gorgeous decor that is very modern and clean. I was served quickly and the prices are reasonable enough. I didn’t get food but from what I seen the food looked great. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Derry.

The other night I was in a very dangerous/scary situation and the bouncers in the thirsty goat were absolutely phenomenal, so vigilant and alert to what was going on around them, the situation could have been a whole lot worse if it wasn't for the bouncers who looked after me. I'm forever grateful

Derry was very busy tonight and after forgetting to make a reservation for dinner we were lucky to get a table in The Thirsty Goat for 7 people. The staff were so friendly and helpful especially with my fussy 7 year old offering alternatives and even offering her ice cream when she was upset! Food was really gorgeous and great value for money. Highly recommend

Attended a private party here, and it was the worst function due to staff and management. Everything organised beforehand, and they made sure they got paid first, but staff on the night decided to change everything and spoiled the whole event. Wouldn't advise booking any sort of event here.

The Thirsty Goat is situated at the bottom of Shipquay street Derry it has a very welcoming atmosphere once you enter the bar /Restaurant,, the variety of food is catered to suit all tastes so next time you're in the Maiden City pay it a visit, the main bar is spacious and opens up into a part seating and standing area

Sat at since 3.30pm staff placed a sign at 6.30pm saying table reserved at 8pm while still seated. This is now an edit from this point. After moving with chairs to another area was told chairs have to be placed at that table. Shocking service

I have just awoken with an almighty hangover after a brilliant evening at our works summer event, hosted in the Thirsty Goat. The whole team looked after us all wonderfully well, but particular mention to Louise who was instrumental in making this a night to remember. Throughout planning, Louise was on hand to help in any way she could with this event. All of her suggestions and of course her flexibility was very much appreciated by us all. The food was beaut, and the dance floor took a bit of a hammering thanks to the We Love Sax duo - who provided the great tunes. Thanks to the whole team for looking after us! :)

At my brother in laws wedding reception this past weekend. All I can say is WOW the manager Louise and staff were incredible. I couldn't rate the thirsty goat highly enough. Absolutely fantastic.

Very busy bar especially with Jazz festival. Told there was 45 minutes wait for food. Well worth it. Food was delicious. Excellent value. 2 courses £15. Service quick and efficient. Roast chicken dinner was excellent. Highly recommend.

If you're in Derry and need a good drink and beautiful atmosphere this is the place. Ran across it while visiting. They had live music and a nice vibe. Don't know when I'll be back to Ireland but this was a spot worth visiting.

The food is very basic here and just okay. The restaurant itself is quite cold. The staff were not friendly at all, the waitress took my half full coffee away before I had finished without asking so I don't think I will be back.

Visited on the 27th for a friend Christmas night out..booked a table for 7.15..no one about when we arrived..only v young waiting bar staff..waited 20 mins before we got a menu or drinks order..After an hour we asked how long our food would be..a very rude blonde haired manager told in so many words that we were last in so our food would be served last..implied that since we were only a small party we'd have to like it or go elsewhere...we waited an extra 15 mins until our food arrived ...didn't really enjoy it after been spoken to like children...the manager needs to go on a customer training course on a nicer way to speak to customers..Will not be returning.

Good food and music. Draft beers could be better, but it's a bar I like to go too.
