There were 19 of us booked in for a meal. They gave us a room to ourselves. We had pre-ordered our food so we had no waiting to be served. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and polite and the price was reasonable. All in all a very good experience. Highly recommend it

Visited for Sunday lunch as the roast beef used to just fall apart it was so tender. Its changed hands since i visited pre=covid and the furniture and set up isnt the same and unfortunately i didn't find the did at the standard it used to be. The outside board advertised carveries from £9.50. Silly us but we assumed that was for a standard plate. When you order this is what they give you automatically. It turns out there is a small plate that you have to specifically ask for which is £9.50 and the standard size is £11.00. There is a larger plate but i dont know how much that was as i didnt see any menus or anything on the table with any sort of prices. It was only when we came to pay and for it and with a couple of soft drinks we expected it to be just over £40 but it was actually just over £50. One member of staff admitted we weren't the first people who complained about this and someone had walked out. Its not just the price but the Yorkshire puddings were completely cold, my knife and fork couldn't penetrate the broccoli as it was so hard. Hopefully if this is under new management these things will be teething troubles and they will display prices correctly going forward and ensure that the food that is meant to be hot is hot. For the moment though it was a bit dissapointing and I have to say not a patch on what it used to be. I hope they do well and bring things up to standard as it used to be a great place.

Four of us visted on a Sunday. We booked in advance as often it gets booked up for the Sunday lunch carvery. We had a lovely Sunday lunch. Good portions of meat and of course you help yourself to the fresh veg. The staff were very friendly and i would definately recommend when visiting Barnard Castle. Have been to a few places in Barnard Castle and for what you get this was really good value.

The teesdale restaurant has a cosy warm and welcoming atmosphere. Service was excellent very attentive. I haven’t felt so comfortable somewhere in a very long time. Food was delicious and portions of plenty I struggled to finish. I got a bacon and Brie panini and it was very tasty. The chips that came with it are homemade and well cooked with salad garnish and coleslaw on the side. I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back. Thanks so much guys keep up the good work.

Popped in for a late breakfast before heading to the museum. I had a full English and it was both massive and delicious. Commented to my wife that the person who cooked it must appreciate a really good breakfast. It’s a bit of an art. My son had a sausage sandwich which came with home made chips which he loved. My wife and daughter both has scones which they loved. Lovely place with great service and food. Couldn’t ask for more!

We only stumbled across this gem of a cafe/restaurant because we were going to Morrisons. We saw The Teesdale at the top of the carpark. It didn't look like much but, we gave it a go. Wow, were we glad we did!! It is very clean, the staff are really friendly and the food was home cooked. We only fancied a snack so ordered the roast ham sandwich & the roast beef sandwich which we shared. They came with coleslaw, chips and salad. All ingredients were home cooked/prepared and everything was very tasty. The most popular dish on the menu was the roast beef dinner which almost everyone else ordered and looked incredible. At the counter was an array of home baked cakes but, we had to have them as take out due the generous portion sizes we had already eaten. They have since been consumed and were also delicious. If ever you are in Barnard Castle, please ignore the high street and head for The Teesdale. You will not regret it.

We were on a walking weekend in this area and The Teesdale looked very inviting for an evening meal. I chose the vegetarian option by chance - and I’m so pleased that I did. The sweet potato burger with red pepper salsa was quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever eaten. It was so good that I persuaded my friend (who is very wary of vegetables) to try it. She enjoyed it so much that we returned the next night and both ordered this impressive meal. We were also lucky enough to speak with Mark Mendelssohn - the talented chef who had created the dish. His passion for good food and especially vegetarian choices was obvious and I shall look forward to eating here - and probably staying here - the next time I’m in this beautiful area.

On a trip to Barnard Castle we fancied an English breakfast. We tried the Teesdale Restaurant. Situated within the main car park it is easy to find. It was Saturday morning and it was not that busy. Quite spacious , the place is what you would expect for a typical market town in terms of decor. We went for the regular breakfast with tea and toast. Portions were decent but the presentation was not to clever(don’t just pour the beans over the food!)Service was good. All in all half decent but nothing too exciting.

We shared a sandwich , cake plus a hot drink each . The tea pot came with 3 teabags in it so that each cuppa was good and strong , the latte very good too. The sandwich came with chips and packed with roast beef and a side salad , the lemon cake very moreish . Good value and recommended.

WOW! I've been hearing rave reviews about this place for ages and finally made it down and it exceeded all expectations. We had the smoked salmon with Avo pancake & asparagus and both were flawless. I used to run a brunch service in a restaurant and so i appreciate the perfect cooking, timing, seasoning and presentation of everything. The smoked salmon was incredible quality, avo perfectly seasoned and asparagus cooked perfectly. Generous portions all round, flavour combos and the pancakes were delicious. 11/10! Can't wait to go back already. Beautiful interior, and the owners and staff are just a delight, so friendly - cannot recommend highly enough. Looking at the sweet pancakes that were coming out of the kitchen i'll be back to try the whole menu. :) Great coffee too. New fav in Durham. An absolute gem of a place. So cute. x
