Tasty food and yummy cocktails. Staying locally in Peterlee, we wanted somewhere local but nice to eat. We booked by phone. We arrived are were shown to our table, which was a table for 2 but positioned right between 2 much larger, busier tables. We asked to move to the bar part of the restaurant and that was no problem and we sat in a curved booth and just had to order at the bar, which was fine for us. The antipasto sharer was AMAZING and then I had the salmon tagliatelle based on someone else's review and my husband had the prawn with tomato/ chilli (can't remember the name). It was lovely. We shared a garlic bread and I also had a berry daiquir. Yum. Reasonable prices for both food and drink.

Visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago, my better half has been trying to get me to go here for years so eventually i gave in. The place is lovely and the staff were ok, will i be back well no the price of the drinks were very expensive, as dear as the most expensive places in Sunderland, its Peterlee

Said restaurant was available for early bird before 7pm which it was not and drinks in bar £18.50 for 2 gin and tonic is a joke never again

Live pretty local to this place but had never been for a meal. Last time I was in this building it was still the Oaklands pub, that’s how long ago it was. Bar area was very nicely laid out, good selection of beers & lagers to choose from. Restaurant area is small than the bar area, but that just makes it more cosy. We were sat at a booth which I always prefer rather than the ‘open table’ setting. Starters and mains didn’t take too long to arrive, good portions and presented well too. Absolutely nothing to complain about. All plates went back empty. We’ll definitely be back again soon hopefully !

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect afternoon for Mam’s 90th birthday. From the delicious Italian buffet to the attentive service ( inc a chorus of happy birthday) it was top notch. Thank you for giving Mam a very special day !

Very disappointed in the Sunday dinner. The vegetables on all 3 plates were cold The Yorkshire puddings were cold.. The mash potato was smash. The gravy had no taste.

We live within walking distance and had been a few times for an adhoc tea, which was just OK, but nothing to rave about.Today we booked for Sunday lunch - it was so busy we couldn’t get a table until 3pm, which we were happy with. We each chose roast beef, which was beautifully cooked, and there was plenty of it. The Yorkshire puddings were large and fluffy. There was plenty of mash ( which I don’t eat), roast potatoes, and roasted carrots on the plate, accompanied by separate dishes of perfectly cooked broccoli, cauliflower, red cabbage, swede, and extra gravy. The staff, whilst very busy, were pleasant and professional. We were last out of the restaurant, and felt we should leave to allow the staff to reset the tables, but were told to take our time because there was no rush. So we lingered over the very moreish Irish coffees. We couldn’t fault the food or service, and the final bill was very reasonable. We’ll definitely visit again

brilliant time at the place staff where brilliant food world class, drinks outstanding, we where a bit rowdy but the staff said we where okay will recommend it to all my family and friends 🧡 xx

Lovely roast and patient staff members, however, the prices are not student friendly, and they do not offer student discounts, as well as not offering a blue light discount for nhs staff workers etc. Moreover, this place has no vegan options in the menu. The best they could do was just serve a plate full of boiled veggies....which isn't the best. If you eat meat and are ready to splurge for one night then do come to this place, but if not don't, wouldn't recommend for vegans/vegetarians.

Food was all 10/10, foccacia and olive starters. Calzone, peri peri risotto, fillet steak and the seafood risotto. Outstanding service from the staff for my fiancés birthday, going above and beyond to make it more special. We continue to come back to this place time and time again

Really can't fault this place food is fantastic and the atmosphere is very nice well worth a visit and a great variety of non alcoholic drinks being a recovering alcoholic I find this a big plus

Amazing place for a good drink or meal. I’ve been around the Adriatic and eaten many pizza, now this is the only place I’ve visited recently and I actually got a proper calzone. It’s not always about the contents but actually the crust that makes a good pizza and this restaurant did not fail, well done will defo be calling in again, staff are very friendly and inviting and a wonderful warm environment .

Visited Lucianos yesterday for a family birthday. We had to pre-book and pay £5 deposit each. My partner and I ordered the classic Parmesan. Last time I had it here the bottom was burnt. I don’t normally complain but yesterday’s Parmesan was the worst I have ever had. Hardly any cheese on it as you can see on photo and dry as sticks. My brother ordered a chicken burger, and by the time his was brought out everyone had nearly finished their meals. My Dad was half way through eating his meal and they brought out the sauce that accompanied his meal. It should have been brought out with the meal. Was not impressed!

Such good reviews but unfortunately that was definitely not our experience. We visited here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. To begin our starter plates were taken away whilst I was still finishing it. Was not impressed but let it go. Secondly I ordered the seafood risotto, which I was really looking forward to, however I discovered after starting this that it was absolutely swimming in oil and the waitress was in agreement. The risotto was removed from the bill but did not make up for the whole disappointing experience.

We’ve always had fab service at Luciano’s. Went with my mam today for my birthday and Thaba (hopefully spelt right) served us for most of our afternoon. We made sure to let her know in person how fantastic she was. She’s an absolute asset to the restaurant. She was so attentive without being pushy; always making sure we had everything we needed. Absolutely could not thank her enough for the service we received, all the staff at Luciano’s are fantastic but Thaba definitely elevated the service further!

Birthday night out …absolutely fab.. gorgeous place to eat and enjoy a drink food was amazing it was very busy but our food came cooked to perfection, Matt and the staff are amazing and create a very relaxed organised atmosphere…finished with a few cocktails in the bar area perfect …..lovely night

Afternoon tea was the worst I have ever had ,sandwiches bread dry ,scones dry and only 3 butters and two small jam for 4 scones ,tea and coffee offeted an hour after we had eaten .environment nice ,young staff who had very poor communication skills

This is now our number one place to come for our weekly family dinner date. The food is always amazing , especially the fillet steak which is top quality and cooked perfectly- never had a bad meal here ever. 11/10 our favourite local restaurant.

We have been there three times now on each occasion the food has been lovely. Pasta sauces are lovely ,not too creamy. Food is always hot. The only negative is whenever we have been I have found the restaurant a little cold .

We had 4 starters between the 2 of us... the pate was terrible and not eaten. It was reported to staff who didn't care and still added it to the bill

We go Into the restaurant at 14:00 order our drinks whilst sat in the bar goes to order food at the bar to be Told that we can’t order food for 30 minutes. If can’t handle a little bit of a rush should probably change the kitchen staff

Visited for the first time yesterday to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary. We thought the food was amazing served by friendly staff . Will definitely recommend to our family and friends and will return very soon.

Lovely setting, a decent atmosphere The food was excellent, and only the complaint was that the service was poor, although I think it may have been that they were short staffed . Waited a long time for dessert, and most of the party decided not to bother. When asked for coffees to end the meal, the staff were unable to offer as the machine had been switched off Put a bit of a dampener on the evening. It's such a shame .

Called in with my wife Christine around 5pm, ordered off the A la carte menu as we had Christmas voucher to spend. We both ordered the Mediteranean Grill, Chicken breast , 3 slices of steak , chips, onions , peppers and paid for peppercorn sauce, drinks prices reasonable , staff attentive and polite. No complaonts at all and we will return.

This was my first visit today and I was very impressed. We were a large group as it was a Baby Shower, but this didn’t impact on the service we received at all. The food was delicious and served up hot. I will definitely be returning.

Booked a table on Monday the 8th of January, for my son birthday with family, had starters first and a main meal followed by drinks, it's my first time at Luciano, the service was brilliant the server's wer brilliant too. Would definitely go again, atmosphere was warm and friendly, a lovely place to go,

Excellent menu and food great experience

We booked Lucianos for four families - 8 adults and 7 children - to get together on Christmas Eve back in October. We were asked to submit our food order a week before Christmas Eve which we all did and were told we could order from any menu apart from the lunchtime one which was fine for us. We had spoken to the restaurant twice since the original booking and had received email confirmation of our food order when we called the order in. However, at 4:15pm on the 23rd of December we received a phone call from Lucianos to say that we couldn’t have the food we had ordered - we could only order from the Sunday Lunch menu. We had specifically chosen somewhere where we wouldn’t have Sunday lunch knowing we would all be having Christmas dinner the day after. I was absolutely furious that they had waited until the very last minute to do this to us. Although the person on the phone apologised it was definitely not acceptable so late in the day and especially after 2 months of booking. It was like they couldn’t be bothered to honour our booking which was ridiculous as most of the party had ordered steak at £27.95 a pop. We cancelled the booking and after frantically phoning around found somewhere to accommodate such a large party. I am so disappointed in Lucianos especially as we’ve been a few times and the food was lovely - service not so much. I will definitely not be going back and would advise anyone looking to make a booking for a special event to go somewhere else.

Wow, what a wonderful place to dine . The place was extremely comfortable and modern. The staff extremely helpful. The food was exceptional. Will defiantly be my new favourite place to dine . Price was very good. 10/10 from me and all who I dined with say the exact same as I.

One of if not the best pub/ restaurant in Peterlee. Staff behind bar need to be sharper and more attentive. Some of the bar staff are having to carry the weaker ones. Otherwise love the place. Especially over Christmas .

No complaints. Friendly staff with great food. The last time I called in was the week before Christmas for drinks only. The bar was quiet but the restaurant was very busy. I have reviewed the food as I have ate here previously.

Went for lunch and there were five of us had booked previously .Good choice from lunch menu each of us really enjoyed our food.Service was good staff friendly.It was decorated for Christmas and the restaurant looked absolutely lovely created a very good atmosphere.Will definitely revisit

Our annual Christmas gathering, although depleted it was ‘spot on’ yet again. Relaxing drinks in the lounge followed by Christmas dinner and it was served to perfection, hot and lots of it. No room for a sweet. Thanks from us all

Menu isn't overly exciting with a generous selection of bland dishes. Food is somewhat overpriced, and exceedingly bland. Burgers were overcooked and dry and lack taste.

We thought that when Sunderland closed no more Lucianos then this one came on the radar say no more😍

We visited a family member's birthday celebration. Since we were a big party, we were asked to place our food orders in advance. Pre-ordering worked great. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious. It is quite expensive however you are paying for better quality food in a beautifully decorated restaurant. I highly recommend a visit.

Can’t speak for the food or drinks because we didn’t even get served or even our presence a knowledged, even though we know we were seen by the 6 or so staff present, it wasn’t even busy. Waited ages for someone to offer a menu so left, feeling invisible and unwelcome

Served chips when didnt want them. Looked raw anyway. Soup was served with bread in middle of it....unable to eat it. Soaked up alot of soup. Chilli wraps and side salad drenched in dressing. 2 out of 3 meals left. Wont be going back.

Fantastic service from Matt! Food was delivered quickly from ordering and served hot! The meatball starter was lovely but need some bread to mop up the sauce, the chicken parmo, Luciano’s burger and chicken arribiata were really good!

A get together with family, booked the corner of the bar area, had to pay extra later which wasn't discussed then told to leave at 5pm, food was very poor for what was paid, the manager was quite rude. With complaints we got the £100 back

The food is lovely here, the staff are so friendly, they have a good selection of food, it’s not all pasta, we have been here several times and always enjoyed the food. It’s my granddaughters favorite place to eat when she visits us

First time there with a group of friends, before going to see a show. Decor is great, atmosphere is great and the food was spot on. I had the spicy prawn salad, as wanted to eat light, it was delicious, portion was a good size and plenty of prawns. I was more than happy and will be returning soon.

Face like a slapped arse and an attitude to match! Booked in for a function which was all fine but told the week of we had to pay an extra £100 to reserve the booking and had to be out at a certain time as had another booking. Obviously none of this would have been an issue had it been communicated in advance as had people travelling from Yorkshire and Scotland. When we spoke with Steph the manger she told us this was for white table clothes (BTw just the buffet table which had paper table clothes), confetti (which we did not have) and use of the room (we had an area in the room). Stephs attitude was shocking throughout the day and instead of trying to welcome us to stay it felt she couldn’t do enough to get rid of us. Took our business of 40 people elsewhere to the rugby club 👍🏼 Food was good however did not accommodate for dietary requirements as promised.

Another fantastic visit and dining experience!! Once again we were on business in Peterlee and we visited this wonderful restaurant. The staff, the atmosphere, the food ... everything was perfect. Thank you so much. I wish we had a place like this where we live.

Amazing food and excellent location. Upon arrival our group of 20+ were greeted by both Chris and Stacey at the bar - ready for the challenge they stepped up and graciously took our multi-layer extensive drink order. We ordered a variety of wine, beers and cocktails to start with, no stone left unturned in the expedittion of beverage discovery. We pre-ordered our food just to to the size of our group and we weren't disappointed. Matt helped with the table service and like an open dam, at the flow of food followed smoothly. From starter to main course to dessert - we enjoyed steaks (each cooked to individual perfection) to sea bass (that reminded us of holidaying in the med). My personal favourite the hand cooked chips and rump steak. Continuing we ordered desserts spontaneously and weren't disappointed. From Almond / Orange cake, to sublime chocolate brownie and a variety of cheese cakes - heaven really is a place on earth. We ended the group meal with Limoncello while enjoying the sun outside. We would definitely go back again and look forward to Chris, Stacey and Matt welcoming us back like old friends.

So disappointed with our Sunday dinners yesterday. There was 9 of us, 4 children and 5 adults. 2 of the dinners were roast beef and they couldn't eat the meat it was that chewy. Veg was hard not enjoyable. We were offered a refund on one of them as the meat wasn't touched. The smallest of our party (nearly 2 year old) didn't order any food he picked off us. So only 8 meals were ordered altogether. With the 1 refund we should have only been paying for 7 meals and 3 desserts. However we got charged for 10 meals and 4 desserts. We had to go back 3 times to sort out the bill. Its not the first time people have been overcharged so be warned check your receipt.

Visit this restaurant quite often and the food is always top class especially the pizza. All of the staff are very friendly too.

Not a great choice of menu. A ‘Parmo ’ would not have been my first (or second!) choice of food when eating out but the mixed grill options were very poor. My Parmo was not a Parmo! More of a schnitzel type meal, it was quite nice but no bechumel sauce and so not a Parmo! Waitress forgot my chips and put out on a different table to the one we specifically booked and requested. Poor choice of drinks also and drinks very expensive.

Great service fantastic staff and great food

Expected a good choice as reputation preceded my first visit. Ordered a beef wrap and was expecting good roast beef with possibly onions accompanied with a salad. I was given a wrap with a gravy sludge - nothing else! !! The wrap was flat as a pancake. Salad (green leaves) which would have difficulty in filling a tablespoon had so much dressing it looked at me and said "I give up" The chips I left half (I had to give up) as they were cold, soggy and luckily only 8 in number. I ate the flat wrap so as not to embarrass my hosts A real disappointment

Nice pub, but when in there tonight i needed to pay £10 for a band to stay there after 7 as there was a band on. Fair enough, but said band still was not on when i left around 20 to 9! So i paid £10 for nothing? Fair enough had i of heard any of the songs but i didnt even hear 1 song so paid £10 for a bit of paper. 🤷‍♂️i was told the band was gunna be on 7:30-8 hence why i paid it no bother at all when my other half said it would be around 8:30 she picked me up. I know £10 isnt alot but paying £10 to see something you haven't seen is a bit of a joke?

Very busy. Fits in with the estate around. Still not quite sure that it has an identity. It's neither a restaurant or a pub. Neither an Italian or a continental British restaurant. Just something about it

Staff were busy yet attentive. We only went in for coffee and drinks. Felt comfortable in our surroundings. Clean and cozy. Have already recommended it to family and friends. Went back for food. Steak was tender and delicious. Mussels in garlic sauce were devine. Meatballs starter was so tasty. Portions are plentiful. Service was superb.

Possibly one of the best Sunday lunches we've had, and cant complain about the price...However.. 45 min wait for table that was already booked, ridiculous wait at the bar for drinks. Desperate for a bar manager to take control. Slow to take food order, one...

Family meal for my son 16th. Pre-ordered food for 14. Then extrax people added on at last minute. They where accomodating straight away. Food was served prompt and out. Think only issue I heard from the party was not enough cheese on the margarita pizza. But everyone said our beautiful the food was. Will definitely be back.

After eating in Luciano`s Sunderland for at least 25 years, having excellent food, service and friendship with the management and staff before closure. We finally decided to try our hometown restaurant, and wished we hadn`t. Couldn`t fault the food, but service was abysmal. Main course...

1st time in here. Lovely place. Food lovely. Unfortunately the service was very poor. Our food came out,nobody came to ask if everything was ok, no one to ask if we wanted extra drinks. Sat and waited 20 minutes after we had our main course. I assume manager, guy in blue shirt and checked trousers, walked past our table 5 times. By this time we were sick of waiting. As soon as we got to the bar to pay our bill,our then table was cleared. We have ate in the Sunderland lucianos for at least 18years,and couldn't fault the place,shame it had to close. Spoilt a very rare night out
