The Taste Gardens in Gwynedd

This is the worst chinese I have ever had . Made a mistake by not reading the reviews before we went. This is a mistake I won't be making again.

Lovely food as always and much cheaper than the other Chinese in town.

The food was vile the worst take away I have ever had .

Excellent Singapore noodles. Ask for extra spicy if you want a challenge!

With not much choice in the locale for dinner on a Sunday we thought we’d chance our arm with this Chinese takeaway. Despite some good and some damming reviews the food was far better than expected. Also with a sensitive stomach I’m normally the first to keep over but I felt absolutely fine afterwards and the day after too. The food was about average and tasted fine. Did the trick. Not as bad as some of the reviews suggest.

Had a couple of meals from Taste Garden whilst working in the area ( not a lot of choice ortherwise !) Huge Menu, and I bet most of it tasted the same, very bland food, but I suppose when you dont have much choice its a meal.

Went in to order and the owner shouted at us to leave because she was so busy. Very rude!!!

Food was really tasty. Had special fried rice and beef chow main.

Chips that I was said from the takeaway I wouldn’t even give to my border collie they should’ve been put straight in the bin and made some fresh ones

Poor quality food, badly cooked. Tasteless and unappealing. Most thrown away so a complete waste of money

Pretty bad. Turned up in Blaenau at 21.45 on a Friday. Overshot past and it was still open. Then parked in front of CoOp. Walked back there. It was 21.50. It was flipping shut! These people don't want to work, do they? Don't like people close early. Friday night should make more business. It's doesn't seem like hardworking people to me. Not going there again.

Really nice food. Not oily, clean food. Would highly recommend try there food. Service was great really friendly staff.

Tasty Takeaway Chinese Food we found online that was open on a Monday We arrived ordered our takeaway meal choices and waited after paying cash as this Chinese takeaway does not accept cards. Before not very long waiting our order arrived and we returned to our room in our Hotel 2 miles away to eat it. We found our meals to be very well cooked hot and very tasty. So no complaints from us about the The Taste Gardens we found. So if you are in this area give then a try as they are open 7 days a week unlike many others who close on a Monday? Visited here whilst on a family holiday, wish we hadnt!!! The chicken was soggy and batter not cooked at all, the sweet and sour chicken was some of the worst I’ve ever tasted, chicken thrown into container on top of the sauce so nothing mixed, the batter was literally almost white , tasteless and almost slimey!! Very poor quality, real shame as couldn’t find anything else for miles around!!

I’m not sure why this Chinese gets poor reviews, as when I’ve had Singapore style rice, ribs, kung po dishes, they have been excellent, quickly prepared, colourful, tasty, hot. Fully recommended. Slightly cheaper than the other one. Will be trying out Chilli Crispy beef tonight I think. I live local

Amazing food, very tasty and portions just the right size. Great quality, will deffo visit again! Quick and efficient service, very kind staff also.

The only redeeming quality about this place is the pub across the street

By far the worst Chinese takeout I've ever had. Practically everything was undercooked. Stay away from the "sweet and sour sauce"; one wiff of that will burn all the hairs from your nose down your throat. If you told me it was radioactive, I wouldn't be surprised. Pub across the road ain't bad though.

Food was horrible. The crispy chilli beef wasn't crispy, had almost no chilli on it and was barely beef. I would recommend getting a sandwich from co-op down the road instead.

If the food was just disgusting I would have given them 2 stars. They get just 1 because the food was actually inedible!! I ordered sweet and sour chicken balls. The chicken smelled funny and the batter was raw inside. I wonder if the people who have given this place more than 1 star are friends and relatives of the owners? That seems to be the only possible explanation. Avoid if you are not keen on throwing up.

I would Not recommend this Chinese takeaway at all, it has got to be the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. We was on holiday in the area at the time and decided to try the local Chinese takeaway. Firstly the lady who took our call on Thursdays evening was pretty miserable and unwelcoming on the phone. We collected and bought it back to our accommodation. The rice was not edible - it was so greasy and full of oil. Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style was tasteless not sweet at all. Chow mein very strange not your normal chow mein - dry and had an unpleasant taste. We ended up throwing the majority of it in the bin! What a shame we hate to waste food- but was not in the position to risk being sick for the rest of our trip. Why are you ripping people off taking money off people in exchange for poor quality food. You should be shut down and ashamed of yourselves.

Lovely food, quick service , takeaway only

This takeaway was the worst we have ever had! We were on holiday with two families and so place a big order of £75+! The lemon chicken looked very inedible, as it looked anaemic and in watery lemon sauce! The rest of dishes didn’t look that appetising either with chunks of ham/spam in the rice. All adults got food poisoning from the takeaway, with one adult missing the highlight off our holiday - the velocity 2, as they were extremely poorly in bed the next day! So if I was you stay away from this takeaway! I’ve had to rate it one star but it doesn’t even deserve one!

Listen to the BAD reviews, I wish I had!!! Re cooked food. Over cooked chicken balls (dry and hard) rice nasty. All in all awful food.

Great food at a great price. Got it for a birthday treat and it was the highlight of my birthday weekend.

Special chow mein re fried dark brown mushy, meat etc sparse. Prawn toast homemade toast with layer of sesame seeds no prawns. Chicken balls batter taste raw. Fried rice coated in soy sauce. Ruined a birthday treat .

We have been using the Taste Gardens ever since we moved to the area and I think I can honestly say that they serve the best Chinese food I have ever had. They cater extremely well for vegetarians like myself and my wife (being an occasional) carnivor is also very impressed. This establishment is run by a husband and wife team with the wife mostly taking the orders and the husband doing most of the cooking. Everything that we have ordered has been freshly cooked and full of flavour. If you visit on the right day (I'm not saying which) and talk nicely to the very friendly lady taking your order, she may even let you have some of her personal supply of tofu which is not on the standard menu (this being Wales). 5 stars every time!

Best Chinese I have had since moving to area a few years ago. Good value for money.

Ordered special curry boiled rice and some prawn crackers, prawn crackers were to hard to eat, mushrooms were unedable due to their age and the red pepper skin was wrinkled also due to its age, the worst ever Chinese meal I've ever endured, will definitely give this place a miss in future. Should be shut down.

Stunning food. Fast turnaround on a Friday night and reasonably priced.

I love the way they cook the food and you can choose between millions of meal deals.

I went here at least ten times during my six month stay in this gorgeous historic town.... I always ordered the same beef chop suey as it was so beautifully cooked. It's pretty quick service and a nice friendly lady who serves.

Cash only. Seemed pretty good on being aware of food allergies. The food was OK but nothing special.

Returned to the area for the first time in five years, and pleased to see Blaenau still has this excellent Chinese takeaway (as well as an Indian restaurant / take away across the road too, the red chilli ) ... I have seen mixed reviews in the last five years on here. Those opinions must stand, that’s the experiences of those customers, which it was sad to read. Perhaps it could even be that some dishes are simply nicer than others, from here? I can only rate their chicken with ginger and spring onions dish, with boiled rice, side of fried onions, side of chips.... Tasted amazing, the main dish is so clean, not much use of oil, and what there is, it’s made clear on the menu on the wall is prepared with soya based oils. The chicken was ok but perhaps not the best, but the general, spring onions, and the overall taste is fabulous. The rice was perfect, and the fried onions were stunning, I don’t know how they get them to taste so good. The current food hygiene rating is Four out of Five, so, although as one customer pointed out, it’s not an open kitchen, and we never see the chef, I think we can be assured it’s all good back there. I look forward to going here again before the week is out, for more food for the family. However long it is before I return to the area again, I hope the Taste Garden is still going strong.

i used 2 use this takeaway regularly,but it has gone down hill a little,you never see the chef only the counter staff,not as busy as it used 2 be,since the kebab shop opened up nearby

Had a couple of takeaways from here. Both very good and not expensive. Fast service and friendly staff.

Barato, rápido y caliente. Eso es todo lo que es bueno sobre la comida que teníamos desde el sabor 'Jardín'. Es diferente de cualquier comida china que he comido antes y espero no repetirlo. Dulce y agria de pollo en salsa de naranja neón con guisantes congelados era un punto particularmente baja.

Very reasonably priced compared to the other Chinese take away in town. Food is cooked quickly, and is very nice, especially considering the relatively low prices.

If you wish to experience authentic Chinese food and are staying in the area I suggest you make your way to the Co-Op and treat yourself to a packet of Uncle Ben's egg fried rice because it will taste more authentic than anything sold in this place. If you have ever eaten Chinese food and I doubt the staff here ever have, you will know that it is not served in gloop resembling gravy, filled with peas and packed out with as much onion as is possible without changing the name of Chicken Chow Mien to Onion Chow Mien. The worst Chinese (and I am being very generous even calling it that) I have ever eaten.

Miserable counter staff, food quality poor,portion size small,taste bland.if you do not want to be disappointed i suggest ordering else were unless stagging out of pub in which case this chinese will be ideal..good luck

I had the beef in oyster sauce and never have I seen anything like it. The brown coloured sauce, upon further inspection could be seen to be covered in a greasy, yellow film of oil which made both the taste and look of the dish sickening. I was not able to eat any of it. I was so disappointed that I tried to write a review on tripadvisor only to find that the establishment is apparently permanently closed (which was untrue based on what I saw tonight). Overall, a massive disappointment.

One of the few places open on a Sunday, we got some spare ribs and the pork, green peppers in black bean sauce with rice. It was just like my mum and dad used to make in our takeaway :) Inexpensive and good portion size.

From the outside an ordinary looking chinese takeaway. But the food.....superb. Absolutely excellent, highly recommended.
