The Tap Steakhouse in Stafford

We came here for my nieces 21st birthday meal. Honestly we can say we don’t have anything negative to say. There was 13 of us whom all enjoyed the food and desserts we had. The staff were great 2 lovely young ladies who couldn’t do enough for us they were fab! Also the chef thank you for lovely food. Well done to all and thank you for a great meal out 🌟

One of the best mixed grills around, the steak was cooked to perfection. The salad on the other meal was as good as it looked. Will be coning back here without a doubt

We went here to have a meal and some drinks. We walked in to the bar which seemed lovely but the place was very quiet. We went in to the restaurant area, which also led to the beer garden. It turned out this was full of "regulars" and children who were in and out constantly making lots of noise, which isnt ideal when you want to sit down and have a nice meal to have people and kids running in and out the restaurant. We then made the decision not to have food, finish our drinks and leave as we felt uncomfortable. The plus side was it was clean and nicely decorated.

Excellent food, great service, lovely atmosphere and welcoming for our dog. We had a lovely lunch, would highly recommend.

Nice big portions, tasty food. I could tell the steak I was served was good quality. Very juicy. My only criticism would be that I asked for rare & got medium rare but I find that’s typical in steakhouses. I should’ve said blue really. Staff were very welcoming. Nice informal atmosphere.

2nd visit to Tap and Spile with about 2 year gap due to Covid and other problems. Food very good and service very pleasant and polite. Will definitely come again

Went here for a meal last night with my housemate. We'd both had a pretty rough week and the warm welcome from Abbey, and excellent service from staff, coupled with absolutely delicious food made it a wonderful evening that really lifted our spirits.Steaks were delicious and cooked just as we asked. Prawns in garlic butter were cooked just right and made the steak into something extra special. Potatoes and onion rings were crispy and tasty (not greasy like in many places) and the creme brule was to die for! The little portion of dressed salad leaves that came with the steak meals was also a welcome surprise, and complimented the meal perfectly. Service was just the right mix of attentive yet not hurried, which I really appreciate (no waiting around trying to get attention of staff, for example, yet also feeling like we could relax and take time to enjoy our meal.Thank you for a lovely evening! We will be back :)

Went here for a friends birthday dinner this week. Food was absolutely top notch. Although there were some things not available, this was explained clearly by our lovely waitress. Steaks were amazing and the free bottle of beer made my friends birthday.

Fab restaurant, serving delicious food, Steaks were cooked to perfection and other mains were delicious too. I had the sea bass and it melted in my mouth. Friendly staff served in a relaxed atmosphere!

I came here with my husband for yet again another lovely meal. We have had steak and roast dinner here in the past. We both had a fillet steak this time and it was fab. Service is excellent and very attentive. Would highly recommend- it has to be our favourite restaurant in Stafford!

The best steak I have ever had, easily and that is no exaggeration. I'm so happy this place has survived lockdown, as I'd heard nothing but good things since moving to Stafford in April.Both Jack and Abby were both awesome and the steak was beyond words. Seasoned and cooked perfectly, with the house pilsner to match. I will be coming here for a very, very long time. You guys are incredible!11/10!

I ordered the 10oz rump with an extra of haggis and... oh... my... God...Possibly the best steak I have ever eaten. And the haggis was totally spot on too. Only problem was that I couldn't finish the chips but I made damn sure I finished the steak!Jack and Abby were so friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, they are an asset you.A little hidden gem, I will definitely be coming back here again soon!

Popped here as there was nowhere decent to eat at the new Designer Outlet on Cannock - we googled and this came up. So glad it did as the food here is fantastic my filet steak was melt in the mouth. The peppercorn Sauce was the best I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend!

We went as a celebration for my fiancee. We were in a nice quite area. There was a nice variety of meals to chose from on the menu, all reasonable priced. We were both super impressed with our meals. Big portions and very well cooked. Will definitely be back as there is more we want to try.

99% of the time when I go for a meal, I have steak. Usually there is some problem or other with how it's been cooked. This time it was perfect and very very tasty.We went in a large group for a family birthday and everyone enjoyed their meal.The service was good, value was good.Definitely recommend if you're a steak lover ❤️

My wife found this place just on the off chance as we only had an hour or so with no kids and this was close to my mom and dads! On entry we was met by a lovely young lady who was all smiles and pleasant! She gave us a choice of where to sit, gave us a menu and took our drink order! My wife had the tomato, garlic, chilli and king prawn pasta which came with garlic bread! I myself had 7oz fillet steak which came chips, mushroom, onion rings and a tomato I also ordered the bacon and garlic sauce! We had a side of garlic king prawns! I got to say that it was all cooked to perfection! Dare I say it! It was better than Miller and Carter!The portion sizes was more than enough and the prices are very reasonable!I would definitely recommend this place!Thank you Abbey

14 of us went here for meal. It was served promptly. And was as we asked steaks done beautifully. The waiting staff were lovely and attentive. Was lovely night enjoyed by all certainly go again and reccomend it to all. Thank u tap

Went out for my birthday at the tap steakhouse with family. I had 15oz centre rump steak it was the tastiest steak I have eaten in a long time. Would come again staff friendly and service fast. I remmomend you try.

Visited for the first time on Sunday after a quick google search for a decent Sunday roast in Stafford. A great find. Had no idea this place was here! Nice place, really friendly staff and great food. The staff were accommodating of our toddlers who we split a roast dinner between by ensuring that there was enough for them to share. Service was quick, portion sizes were very good and food was tasty We’ll be back

On arrival shown to our table straight away,drinks order taken & order food. Was all cooked fresh & steak were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be going again.

Very average food although the service was good. Starters were expensive and poor quality, looked nice but was all show, actual ingredients were all very cheap. Steaks were cooked well but had little flavor. Wouldn’t recommend.

Myself, partner and two friends have made our first ever visit to the Tap Steakhouse tonight reflecting several recommendations from friends. In no particular order, the pints of Abbott were spot on, the 4 x steaks (we all had something slightly different) were cooked to perfection and genuinely delicious meals, exactly as ordered …. and perhaps most importantly, the hospitality and quality of personal table service from Abii and Kira was simply brilliant. This is the type of venue that really does deserve to come good, post~Covid, and on tonight’s experience it deserves to go from strength to strength. I don’t write reviews very often and only when I think somewhere is offering something way beyond what I have paid or could reasonably have expected. Highly recommended !! We will return soon.

Dropped in after driving past many timesWe both had the steak after reading the reviews on trip advisor & we were not disappointed. The steaks were absolutely beautiful, toasted divine & one of the best we have had for a long time . We will certainly be coming back

Starters were average at best. Mains landed, steak was average & lamb shank was poor. Described as falls of the bone but was tough and overcooked. Also comes in red wine/tomato sauce with mash and greens; but arrived with chips and Sunday roast veggies and gravy all over? To top that off, a bit of lint fluff on top? Credit to the waitress who credited this meal but excuse was that the head chef was not in tonight? No excuses, come to enjoy premier meat but got a Weatherspoons grade meal at double the price. Won’t be returning.

Booked a table for a Friday Night Out meal and we were just blown away by the amazing food and Service. Friendly helpful cheerful staff who take a genuine interest in you and have an appropriate sense of humour. Fantastic Just loved it.

Me and my partner brought my grandmar here and we really enjoyed the food and the staff were great and friendly.I had the steakhouse burger and had the dirty upgrade and now i am very satisfied and very full will be coming back again

I came to this steakhouse on the 3/7/2021 with my family for birthday meal. I was very disappointed with the service, working in hospitality myself it wasn’t what I expected. I ordered a 10oz rump steak well done, and as I cut open my steak a lot of blood came out. My steak was cooked medium. I told a waitress. There was no apology given and no offer for a new steak. As I was paying i was still charged for the full price of the steak, and when questioning them about it they told me that I had eaten the steak so no refund couldn’t be given, but all I did was cut it open as there was blood on my plate. I would not recommend here at all

Could not recommend this place enough! From booking online to going to the restaurant we had no issues at all, the food was so flavourful and the drink choicest were excellent. All of the staff were so friendly, we had an amazing server called Georgia who made the whole experience so easy! I could not recommend this place enough! Will definitely be going back :)

Went for a meal here today, just a few mins ago actually, and it was brill. The atmosphere was quaint and very friendly; as for the food it was equally as warming. All the food here was to a great standard: I loved the crumble, some crumbles don’t have enough crumble and too much fruit but the dichotomy of the two was the perfect ratio for me in this one, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the Tap.I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Stafford area who’s looking for a sit down meal. xoxo

Very good starters, sides and sauces, however for a steak house very disappointing. We ordered filet ribeye and sirloin, some was cooked ok (to how we ordered) but all the meat was not to a standard of a steak house. More like a cheap pub. Overall atmosphere, service and food was good but the steak let you down. I would rebrand as a gastro pub rather than a steak house or change your supplier

Decided to visit for our anniversary meal. The restaurant was quiet when we got in and shown to our table. There was a limited drinks menu but the cocktails we ordered were excellent quality (gin splash and pornstar martini) the food was absolutely fantastic from starter to dessert. Service wasn't rushed and there were no interruptions to check on us until after each course which I personally really like.This isn't our first visit to the Tap and most certainly won't be our last.

Had the Balmoral Chicken again. Served with haggis and peppercorn sauce. Hubby had the Beef and Beer Pie. Delicious. Highly recommend The Tap for a great meal and great service.

Just had a sirloin steak at The Tap, and I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I've had. Highly recommended and will definitely be coming back again.

Food is great. Even my quirky requests are handled really well. The staff are great- very welcoming and professional. Everywhere is clean and tidy. If you want an easy win for a decent meal, this is it.

We visited on a Wednesday evening, the food and service were excellent. Really pleased they have managed to survive the lockdowns. Very happy with the Covid-19 measures in place. It was good to see tables being disinfected soon after the occupants had left.Reasonable price for the quality.

Having been here before and had great food was very disappointed last Wednesday first visit after lockdown. The sirloin? steak was tiny and very tough the chips were undercooked and soggy all most unappetising. When complained to the waitress she said would tell the chef but did not return. Eventually went to the bar where after some discussion just paid for starter and drinks. Not good experience not to be repeated.

Great steak and food. The choice of potato based sides is a great addition to the meal. Onion rings aren't greasy and taste great.

Staff polite and attentive. Food excellent and good portions. Prices average. It’s a little gem tucked away and well worth a visit.

Had a lovely meal out at the tap steakhouse. Our steaks were beautifully cooked, and our dessert was lovely! Our host Georgia was lovely. I can definitely recommend! Just one comment, would be useful to know what isn’t available when you sit down so you don’t choose something that’s all gone. But overall, absolutely lovely evening!

I have been coming here since it first opened and I absolutely love it! The scoop chips and Mushroom & Stilton sauce are to die for. The steaks are cooked lovely and you can tell they are of a high quality. Chloe is the only person that’s been there continually since I first started coming and I must say she is a credit to the place. She remembers what drinks we have and is always telling me about any new Gins they have as she knows I’m a Gin lover lol. Nothing is ever too much trouble and I see her laughing and talking to all the other customers too. The chef changed mid way through last year I would say and it was a good decision as the food has been better ever since. I must say as a returning customer the menu can get a bit boring but all in all 10/10. Hope to see Chloe there for years to come.

Excellent from the start, organised service,menus well layed out for current Covid guidelines, friendly staff.Food was very good, we had the Camembert, Black Pudding and Nachos between us for starters , all very good, then mainly variety of Steaks,and one Burger, which were all perfectly cooked as required. All in all, definitely recommend the Steakhouse.

After coming here in August and having a excellent steak I decided to come for Sunday dinner compared to the steak it was very poor. The beef was the deli style meat you buy in the packets it was so thin and didn't have much taste or flavour like its come off a joint of beef, i ordered a portion of lamb on its own which was made clear when I ordered and they bought me out a whole lamb dinner which of course I didn't order. Compared to the beef the lamb did taste nice and it looked like it had just come off the joint has it was in small pieces. I also found they were very tight on the gravy i asked for extra gravy and their still wasn't enough but after already asking for more once I didn't want to ask for more again, another thing I found poor was a friend of mine doesn't eat veg we explained when we ordered and asked if she could have a extra Yorkshire pudding and potatoes which they agreed to but they still bought out the veg and forgot the extra Yorkshire pudding and still tried charging for it although only 50p its the principle not the money. Overall I would come again for steak which i made a review in august about but wont be coming for Sunday lunch again i was looking forward to a nice Sunday lunch but sadly I didn't get the taste or experience i was looking for. Although I didn't want to leave this review because restaurants are struggling I decided to so the restaurant can hopefully make improvements in the concerns I have raised around the quality of the food but also so are customers struggling with many people loosing their jobs.

Me and my Partner visited for some food on a Saturday evening (Booked a table with the current COVID situation)Welcomed by a friendly staff member on entry to the premises who guided us to our table! The system in place to follow government guides lines is good and simple to work! With out much of a wait our starter came along which was really good (Baked Camembert), after the ideal wait the mains came out which were unreal!? When the desert arrived which was also the nuts my partner commented saying how the timings were perfect! We will definitely be returning! And thanks for the box for the sausage for my dog! He loved it as much as we did! See you soon!

Beautiful rump steak and the pudding/haggis starter was very tasty. Felt well distanced and place was spotless. I saw Staff cleaned everything between customers very throughly. Music to my taste and steak was divine this was a first visit it won’t be my last.

My partner and I fully enjoyed our experience at The Tap. Due to Covid we were given a paper menu and pen, where we would 'tick' the items we wanted, which worked really well, made it easy for us to order exactly what we wanted.We ordered a Camembert Sharing Starter which was more than enough for two, served in a hot dish bowl, it kept the cheese nice and warm, served with crusty bread to dunk, the sweet onion chutney a must with it. There was none left!I had the salmon pesto crumb which was delicious, the restaurant went out of their way to add some carrots/parsnips to my dish at no extra charge. My partners fillet was cooked perfectly to his liking. Both meals the portions were very generous, we didn't have room for dessert!The restaurant offer 10% discount for NHS which is a brilliant bonus for me.We have been to Marco Pierre's in Birmingham and would rate the Tap on a much higher level. We will absolutely be back.

Love this place I have not found anywhere else that matches for Steak it’s amazing, tasty, flavourful and the tap scoop chips are yum. The only let down I find is the drinks service, there is no drinks menu and there is wait for them each time we have been. I have also never managed to get more than 1 drink as after the first order I have never been asked again or see the waitress to ask for 1. If they are busy then I understand a wait is expected but I’ve been at times when there are staff stood at the bar and still no sign of my drink order.

Just had an amazing Sunday dinner at the Tap. The food was gorgeous. The beef was melt in your mouth, the homemade Yorkshire puddings were to die for and the creamed leeks and cauliflower cheese topped it off nicely. Fantastic and efficient service. Cant wait to return.

We visited The Tap Steakhouse on Saturday evening ,the ordering system is excellent our server Beth was great. We ordered 4 Steaks which were all cooked perfectly can’t wait to visit again

We visited on a Saturday for our first date night since the March lockdown and it was lovely. The service was great; staff were very friendly and attentive. Good social distancing measures were in place - we felt comfortable and happy. The food was, mostly, delicious. We ordered wings and whitebait to share to start. They were fantastic portions - huge! However, the whitebait wasn’t the best - it was quite bland and breaded rather than battered. We ate it, but wouldn’t order again. Also, as the main courses are such great portion sized as well I’d perhaps recommend only one starter to share. We both ordered steaks and they were sooooo good. I had the small rump with dauphinois potato’s and my husband ordered the Wexford steak which came with a few vegetables, so I helped myself to a couple of carrots. I seem to be the only person who prefers steak with potatoes and veg rather than chips. I fully recommend this place and can’t wait to go back!

My family and I visited during a recent trip to Stafford and The Tap Steakhouse was our Saturday night meal destination. Upon our arrival it was quite hard to park but we managed to find a space after a bit of driving around. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and the tick box system for your order is a great idea. We started with the Camembert which was delicious - shared perfectly between the 3 of us (2 Adults 1 Child). We all choose steak - 12oz, 15oz and the childs 7oz. All cooked differently with different sides. Meat was cooked well. All steaks are served with either chips or Dauphinois potatoes and onions rings, large mushroom and half a beef tomato.We were all completely stuffed by the end of the meal - no room for desert but we all highly recommend this place if your in the area!

Went to the Tap for a birthday meal with friends after seeing it advertised and have never been to a steakhouse. The food was truly amazing it was easily one of the best steaks i have tasted i like my steak well done and it takes skill to cook a steak well done while its still being tender and full of flavour. The Meat just melted in your mouth it was lovely and the portions were large which is rare now a days. The service i had received was also very good and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning soon next time for the beef roast sunday lunch. Thank you all and see you soon.

It was a pleasure to have a delicious, freshly cooked lunchtime meal at our local pub. Black pudding haggis stack and whitebait starters both generous portions and very tasty. Mains were lamb curry and sirloin steak, cooked perfectly and thoughtfully presented. Warm and friendly service as usual. A great experience, and good to be back after lockdown. All safety precautions in place so no worries there. Highly recommended.

First time out for months and greeted by friendly staff.Food menu due to current circumstances was paper where you made your choices and handed to staff. This worked very well and in some ways preferable.Food was lovely especially the Haggis snd Black Pudding starter that is plentiful but just right to follow up with a good size menu of steaks and other dishes.Very good selection of beverages in an environment that is relaxed.Highly recommended.

We visited during the easing of lockdown and the staff couldn't have done more to make it feel safe. Disposable menus with tickboxes to place your order and spaced out seating. Food as usual was absolutely amazing, we had a starter, two perfectly cooked steaks, and desserts and we were stuffed but enjoyed every bit!

We had a takeaway roast for Mother’s Day - right at the beginning of lockdown and just before they closed for the duration. We have to say it was absolutely delicious. We loved it. The food was lovely, the veg options were great and portion sizes were excellent. Had they remained open and offered more Sunday roast takeaways we’d have had them regularly.

Visited the Tap on “Super Saturday” and all I can say is well done to The Tap team. The COVID measures in place were spot on and whilst we felt completely safe, they didn’t detract from our dinning experience.Food, staff and service were all exceptional.
