I visited The Sweet Petite as I was lucky enough to get a Festive Afternoon Tea slot, they are like gold dust. It's quite local to me so I knew how pretty it was inside and I'd heard excellent reviews so I had high hopes. My friend and I arrived to a beautifully decorated shop front and inside the tea room was just as festive and pretty. We sat at our table and were immediately asked if we'd like tea or coffee and if we wanted some glasses for our champagne. (You can bring your own alcohol and don't even get charged a corkage fee 🥰). When our afternoon tea arrived it looked amazing. It was so pretty I didn't want to dig in, however, that lasted about 30 seconds as I noticed the home made sausage roll was warm. After devouring that, the turkey and cranberry sandwich, the mini charcuterie board and the cheese & crackers, I started the next tier. Everything was perfect. The mince pie had the shortest pastry that melted in your mouth, it was filled with a good helping of brandy soaked mincemeat and topped with velvety Italian (I think) meringue. I then went on to eat every single scrap of every tier, each of which were entirely delicious. The staff were attentive, friendly and polite and the whole experience was first class. I have had a lot of afternoon tea's, some very expensive ones in London and this tops them all. Pricing was very reasonable and I absolutely 100% recommend a visit. There are two counters filled with goodies to buy if you pop in, such as different flavoured individual cheesecakes, quiches, millionaire's shortbread, éclairs, sweet tarts and so much more. All at a great price and all absolutely huge in portion size. I will be back very shortly and my diet will suffer badly after tasting how good this place is.

I walked past here many times when it’s been closed. Today was our lucky day. Walked in to a lovely welcome and a display of the finest patisseries in the North of England. These are all skillfully and passionately made with a very personal touch. Quality like these are seldom seen outside of London. The tastes and textures are so obviously craft and handmade from scratch. We will be back to sample the afternoon teas and other items. And, for the birthdays that are soon coming up. Well done to the whole team there.

Googled to find cafes in Sunderland whilst visiting for the day and this was one of the options. As soon as we saw the photos on Facebook we new we wanted to try it. It's a lovely clean well presented little cafe that provides the opportunity to eat in or take away. We chose to eat outside as it was a lovely sunny day. The staff were lovely and friendly and service was good and timely. There was a large range of cakes and desserts to choose from and we all chose something different and everything was delicious and beautifully presented . Tea and coffee was good too. A couple of tables were having the afternoon tea we all had abit of food envy when we saw it come out. It looked amazing. Price wise we found it very reasonable i had a cheesecake and a coffee and it was under £8 the portions are large so it's good value . When I'm next in Sunderland I will definitely call here and sample something else

Had afternoon tea with my friends, this was our 2nd visit and it is absolutely delicious, not too expensive and more than enough food, we all took a box of cakes home with us as we couldn't eat it all. I'd highly recommend a visit here.

Myself, mam and sister have been today for afternoon tea. Absolutely amazing food. The cakes are huge and taste amazing, all fresh and real cream!. Unlimited tea/coffee. The staff couldn't do enough for us, very welcoming atmosphere. Plus, the inside is lovely, very cosy decor, and it doesn't feel like you're in Sunderland. Will definitely be back!

Went for afternoon tea for my Mams 80th birthday. The cakes and scones were beautiful but sandwiches were disappointing. Only one each and no choice. We would have preferred more sandwiches and less cake. We did take leftover cake and scones home (there were loads). It was a bit pricey but lovely for a special occasion.

Not often we head into town now but we popped into The Sweet Petite as we had family visiting and some time to kill. The place is small but there was comfortably enough space for four adults and three kids sat outside. The owner showed up with some new cushions for the cast iron chairs we were sat on to make us more comfortable and in an act of clumsiness I managed to drop a drink I'd just bought. Quick as a flash he brought out a replacement, which was much appreciated in the sun. Our group tried the raspberry cheesecake, an individual portion that was easily stacked high enough for two, and some coffee. All went down well and the service was fantastic.

You get a personal service which is flexible and meets your needs. Everyone is friendly and remembers your name , well behaved dogs are welcome and spoilt. The food is lovely, take out or sit in. Everything has been done to make you feel safe and well fed in these difficult times. I think it is suitable for all types of customer, I do not feel awkward when I am by myself or have my dog.

Tried this little restaurant an Saturday with my sisters . It ticked all of our boxes . The staff were excellent ,the barman couldn’t have done more , his friendly and attentive service together with a relaxed and comfortable environment made our visit very enjoyable . The food was great value for money. We had the £7:95 2 course special . It was very tasty , well cooked and presented ( we even had proper salad garnish instead of the usual bit of soggy lettuce ! ) We meet for lunch every Saturday and look for small friendly places with reasonable prices , good food and friendly staff .This place had it all. We are returning this Saturday !

Took my elderly mother for her lunch. She has reduced mobility, but the lovely lady helped her into the restaurant. We both had seafood tortellini which was really tasty, with homemade Tiramasu to follow, which was delicious. The owner was so friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be back.

Been coming here for 20 year and today was the first time it felt odd, filling wasn’t the usual size and the woman serving oldish women had a right attitude shaking her head. I had to ask for a bag 4 times to her disgust. Still won’t stop be coming but gutted.
