Amazing sandwiches and tasty coffee

Arrived at 9.50 to be told they don't serve until 10am, surley an exception could have been made, but they seem to strictly enforce their operating times. Not sandwiches served until 12noon again another strict operating policy, so all I could have was coffee and cake for breakfast, for what could be a diamond in the rough, more of a wet duck

They make incredible sandwiches, hot or cold, Sunderland Council can do one! Anyway, all the staff are super friendly, other tasty treats and nice coffee at a great location.

Nice sandwiches. Good coffee. Shame it’s having to move. £5.50-£7.50 a sandwich. It’s a tiny place. The wait time was about 30 minutes (after ordering), which is longer than I can justify for any take-away breakfast sandwich.

Great coffee and bagels, but a bit pricey for what it is. Shame about not being able to sit down in the warm space so I feel like it should be taken into consideration when it comes to prices. (especially the coffees)

Fantastic food by the sea! Great breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, amazing homemade cakes (the Basque cheesecake is a must if it's in) and perfectly brewed coffee.

My girlfriend and I have a routine where every Sunday we like to go for breakfast to a place we have never tried, and on this particular Sunday we decided to try Cole. I am very happy we did! It's a little building just off the main street and you'd be forgiven for not knowing it was here. The staff were lovely and there is a little sitting area outside which was empty at the time we went so we got sat easily. We did go for it opening so I imagine it could get much busier. I went for the "Patty" which is a sausage patty with fried egg, cheese and chilli jam. I also added halloumi which elevated this breakfast sandwich to another level. We have been to many breakfast cafes / restaurants but this one is rated as one of the best up there in my opinion. A great experience and I'm sure we will be back!

Hidden gem in Sunderland, the flavours of the food they offer are superb, with a great range of offerings for different diets. Their cakes are great and coffees just as good. Highly recommend and my first place to take friends and family visiting the area

I'm delighted to have discovered a local breakfast spot that prioritizes ethical practices and uses high-quality ingredients. They offer a small but carefully curated menu, featuring delicious and thoughtfully crafted sandwiches. I decided to drop by while walking my dog, just to experience the vibe. To my delight, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which is of utmost importance in a food establishment. I ordered the Rueben sandwich, and it was absolutely fantastic! Each ingredient was harmoniously combined, resulting in a truly satisfying sandwich. I'll definitely keep an eye on their menu for the KFC sandwich, although it's always out of stock.

We decided to grab some breakfast from here after having it recommended. The ingredients used were clearly high quality. The food was very well presented and the staff were friendly enough. Personally, I found the addition of chilli jam to be at odds with the other flavours present, not in a balanced way. Overall very decent food, albeit on the pricey side. Will probably give it another go sometime.

It was my 1st time here as I was recommended it, I wasn't disappointed. I got the half n half and it was very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and would definitely go back.

This cafe is wonderful. The staff are lovely and the food and drinks are great. They have a beautiful range of herbal teas to try and the coast is on their doorstep.

Unfortunately didn't get there until about 1.35pm so most of the food had sold out, but, what was left was still stunning. A lovely, friendly and great value little establishment that we can't wait to visit again.

Always amazing food and willing to cater for you dietary needs. Doubling up your half and half sandwich is recommended from myself. Can expect a bit of a queue and 10-20 minute wait for your food and it can get quite busy. No indoor seating available but outdoor is available and nice out there when the weather is good. There a good price on the food but definitely worth it every time.

It was our first time visiting Cole’s today after being recommended by a family member. It’s was absolutely amazing, 10/10. My husband got the Reuben Roll and I got the Patty and both were packed full of flavour.

Out of this world sandwiches - the Mumbai is 10/10. Great little spot for coffees/lunches on the seafront.

The best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! It was a rainy miserable day getting takeaway, we sat in the car as we had a ten minute wait, and they brought it out to us which I absolutely did not expect. Amazing food, friendly staff going above and beyond!

Absolutely amazing food. We got the Reuben Roll, it was so tasty. Also tried the brownie which was beautiful. 100% recommend this place. Right next to the beach aswell so you can take a stroll before or after.

Got brioche sandwiches hash browns and a cake. Enjoyed the sandwich, chilli jam was sweet.

Great coffee! I got a flat white which actually tasted of coffee, not just hot milk like others in the UK seem to be... Food looked good too - they seem to have an interesting array of baked stuff (e.g. lamingtons, key lime meringue) which changes every day. As others have said, the menu caters to a wide range of tastes and the vegetarian options in particular looked great but I tried the sausage and egg breakfast sandwich and it was really good (the chilli jam was unexpected, but a welcome change from ketchup/brown sauce) - wait times can be long on weekends though.

Tried for first time today... And I wasn't disappointed. Sausage&egg patty was delicious... No ordinary sausage & egg sarny...

A little gem with a growing reputation for something special. 1st time customers this weekend. Lovely quaint shop. Very friendly and helpful staff. Had heard so much about the sarnies and was not disappointed, I had "the Ernie" my friend one of homemade pastrami (amazing) sauerkraut, melted emmental, mustard sauce. At £9 - £11 we initially thought the price was high for a sandwich....however, to coin a phrase "this wasn't any sandwich " wow I can't describe how good they were....artisan bread, slow cooked high quality meat, dainty tangy pickles and flavoursome sauce/gravy all beautifully presented and served with a smile. I'll definitely be returning. My only negative was the price of some of the pastries but otherwise outstanding 👌

Great food, but there are a few customer service and sales issues to fix. I had the bodega sausage and it was great with a perfectly cooked egg. The customer experience let it down. They have different food boards where you pay and around the front so you do not know what they sell if you have never been before. I would of ordered a cold sandwich as I was in a rush. I was told cooked sandwitches take a few minutes so I ordered. I was waiting for my sandwich for about 5 mins when another customer (there was only 2 of us) ordered. After another 5 mins a girl came out and gave him a sandwitch which was the same thing I ordered. I did not say anything expecting mine to come straight out after. I was wrong. They gave my order to the customer and mine wasn't ready. I had to wait for it to be made. A 2 min sandwich took over 10 mins.

This without doubt is a superb excellent little gem. The food is amazing and prepared to a high standard. The food is flavoursome, but be warned guys get in early as this wonderful food with is fantastic varied choices can sell out quite quick. I would strongly recommend the daily options and my Mrs reckons everyone should have their Key lime pie ' in their life ' as it's literally perfect. I strongly recommend place with amazing food and great service.

Absolutely fabulous sandwiches; freshly made, delicious and affordable. I had the ‘Mumbai’ - at £5 it was an absolute bargain, packed with flavour, I’ll be back for sure!!!

The best beetroot and bodega burgers in the history of ever can be found right here. A diverse menu catering to many different diets, in both sweet and savoury form, with beautiful coffee to boot! This tiny-but-charming establishment is perfectly situated right on the Roker coast and makes a walk by the sea all the more enjoyable. 🌊☕ It's a real bonus that the staff are simply wonderful too—really hardworking and always so friendly, no matter how busy they may be. Love introducing friends and family to our local snackery!

One of the very best coffee shops around. Lush coffee, well balanced menu, plenty of sweet treats and friendly staff.

Shop was shut (Easter half term). Open hours not updated accordingly. Disappointing and generally unprofessional. Shame I can’t comment on the coffee/food; looks great.

Amazing coffee, hot chocolate and tea. AMAZING Sandwiches. We visit at least once a week and twice if we miss a week. Staff are always helpful and smiling. Even with the testing times, they've adapted brilliantly.

Great coffee, lovely cakes and absolutely unbelievable sandwiches! Have only tried a couple of them so far - the Shack and the avocado/bacon one - but both were absolutely delicious. Now desperate to sample the rest of the menu, as well as some of the 'specials' they often have on a weekend. Love this place, and feel lucky to have it in the local area.

We ordered the famous bodegas after seeing on social media & Coles Kitchen could make one glutenfree. The food was delicious, fresh and exceptional quality & coffee was heavenly! Great selection of glutenfree baked goods too - thanks for thing of us GF people ♥️ Can’t wait to try again

Love! The fact that all of the cakes, scones + tasty treats are all home made really sells this place to me. Coffee is delicious every time. Small, cosy space which works wonders. Just a splendid place to be a on a sunny afternoon. Really good vibes all around. Zero complaints. You can’t get better! Believe me! 👌🏻

Very pricey, sausage rolls were a shock at £4 each and unfortunatley nothing special. Very small, once regulars in you cannot get a seat.

Small but perfectly formed. Everything is homemade and I must confess, delicious. The staff are efficient and work well in the small space available. Parking is a challenge and less yellow lines would be better. I am very glad it is here.

Wonderful cafe with the best scones in sunderland, friendly staff and very tasty food.

This is a hidden gem! We found just walking past and loved it. I had lovely orange blossom tea and toasted bran loaf. Sandwiches on sourdough looked gorgeous and there's a specials board. Really lovely staff, great ambience. We will visit again 😊😊👍

We called in on a wet afternoon as we were passing by. We were impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and enjoyed our coffee and cakes. Also good to know it is dog friendly for the future when family visit.

No bread for toasties, no preferred filling. Ham and peas pudding sandwich in s shop bought bread bun and a latte,....£7.30?, eon,t be returning.

Vast improvement on my last visit.Still has uncomrtable wooden bench type seating but food & attention to service is spot on.

One of my favourite places to take light lunch when I visit!. Tasty, very fresh, homemade cakes, fresh filled rolls, along with hot beverages and not forgetting refreshing cucumber & mint water, freshly prepared. Highly recommend this bejou cafe'. Congratulations on your first year of trading guys. X
