Love this little gem of a place. Great service, friendly staff. Good selection of ales and beers as well as a fab cocktail menu too

Service was slow, food was average. No atmosphere.

I was looking forward to trying this place but was disappointed. First the positives the decor was interesting and loved the wall drinks unit beautiful lit from behind. Toilets were clean and well maintained. They serve Vaux ales which are always good. Unfortunately the negatives. As a vibe of 'A local pub for local people' As soon as we walked in all the chat stopped and watched as we walked to the bar where the lady behind the bar glared at us in silence (it would later transpire we had interrupted her internet shopping) Ordered 3 pints of Vaux and my Boyfriend said, "Oh you must have met Chris the salesperson." The flat snapped reply, "Don't know, didn't order it." Rest was done in silence. The lady then continued her friendly chat to the group of regulars. I watched as we had our drinks the service is two levels if you are a regular/friend or in the clique you will get 5 star treatment if you are not you are treated like an inconvenience. My Boyfriend went to the bar for another drink and watched her switch from friendly chatty happy to snappy, with, "Same again!" Another customer came in and was given the same level of service as we did. He also got snapped at when asked what was recommended and when he sat at a table that had been reserved for 8pm it was around 4pm when we were there. An sales rep came in and asked to put a sticker on the door, bar lady agreed but after she left grumbled to the regulars, "Well he will rip it off when he gets here!" To which the regulars agreed (I assume they are talking about the owner) This may speak to his attitude. Felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. Would not recommend and won't return. If you are looking for somewhere more friendly try The Lighthouse a few doors up.

This is a cracking pub with lots of choice. Owner is very knowledgeable and gives great insight into local beer and ales. Great venue, nice and cosy, good tunes. Not far off the sea front. If you're in Sunderland, this is a place to visit.

The owner is very friendly, when you drink there there's a great relaxed vibe about the place. Me and my wife like drinking in there. A must to try

I came for the Sunday night quiz with a regular quizzer a couple of weeks ago. What a brilliant bar. Really good atmosphere, nice people, staff were great and the quiz was a lot of fun. Will definitely be making this a regular spot from now on.

Lovely little bar very good atmosphere we were there on quiz night so it was really busy & loud the quiz was alittle dis organised think that was due to the noise levels also quiz teams should be no more than 6 people to make it fair chance for each team

Edit to correct venue......2nd time in a micropub and I can honestly say I loved this place, the range of beers was good and the place had a nice atmosphere The place was quitr full and although it was fairly quiet the atmosphere was friendly as were the stafc. If i had a place like this closer to home I'd be a frequent visitor 🙂🙂🙂

We had a private party on Thursday at Ocean micro Bar. Couldn't speak more highly of Dean & staff. Everything perfect quality drinks & service, and even allowed us too use our own catering services. Everyone enjoyed the evening. Thank you Dean. Graham and Christine.

Nice place good service from staff although the persons whose round it was (no names) came back with San Miguel for all but I won't hold that against the Bar as there was plenty of choice, and they only served what was asked for.

Amazing place with really good atmosphere. Dean the owner is very friendly and gives you a warm welcome. The choice of drinks is fab as he caters for all tastes. We will definitely be back. Keep up the good work. Kev & Debi xx

Popped in tonight with the Colquhoun clan, cosy and modern micro brewery with a relaxed, welcoming feel. Service was great and the beers, ales wines and spirits were very impressive. Good work, we will definetly be back! Cheers.

Great place not bad price for drinks owner very friendly

Travelled up from the south to spend a weekend with a mate who has recently moved to roker and explore the beer scene in the area, after visiting all the local micro pubs and sampling a fair few beers we found this place to be the best. The owner was friendly and welcoming and the beers on offer were very tasty. Free bar snacks were served now and again which was a great little perk. Would highly recommend.

Cracking another micropub on the doorstep. Lets hope for several real ales and bag in box cider. Full review will be posted once open
