Superb quality food with a very modern presentation but with amazing old fashioned flavours that reminded me of my Yorkshire Nanas ones . Deserts were also on point great Sunday lunch venue in a very Harry Potter esque beautiful old fashioned village . Staff could not do enough and squeezed us in for a late and last minute dinner . The photos I saw when looking for somewhere to eat were spot on too .

We came here for lunch for my wife’s birthday. The pub itself is lovely. We were immediately warmly welcomed on entrance. The food itself was superb really nice food. Highly recommend and look forward to our next visit

Great Sunday Lunch in the private wine room and worth the 45min journey…… the quality of the food was exceptional and the girls front of house were pleasant. We loved that they were dog friendly! Also had the privilege of meeting the chef to pay him our compliments, we will be back. Thanks!

A pretentious village pub, serving good quality pub food at much higher than average prices. Beer served in a cloudy state. Noisy and rather rowdy while we ate at lunchtime. Not recommended for a relaxing experience.

£24 roast. Worth £15 at best. One carrot. Two roasts. Poor gravy. Massive Yorkshire pudding. Yorkshire heavy. Told waitress food was average and didn’t seem bothered. White horse in stoke Albany and the ship in oundle are much better for £18. Wouldn’t eat here again

We have family near by and always struggled to find a dog friendly place to eat. So glad we found this gem, it’s a cosy and super friendly pub. The food is to die for and I can’t wait to get back to try more food. First visit we had the pizzas and they were by far the best pizza I’ve had in a very long time. Today we had the special a cod burger, OMG it was divine! The chef in this pub is amazing, make sure you check it out if you haven’t.

Struggled to find a dog friendly pub serving food on a Tuesday evening in the area. Found this one and weren't disappointed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and found room for us even though they were very busy. Pizza night - food was delicious and great value. Would definitely recommend!

So disappointed! We had Sunday lunch here. I’m not sure if they were all having an off day. We were informed on arrival that there was a 45 minute delay for food, even though we’d pre-booked a table. My husbands fish was very good but I was very disappointed with my Sunday roast. The beef was chewy and I had to ask twice for a separate jug of gravy as I the gravy was already on the plate and there was none on the Yorkshire pudding. The young lad who was manning the bar was doing his best but the 3 waitresses were a bit disorganised and customers were waiting for them to return to take dessert orders, bring the bill etc. Needed someone in charge!

Visited this lovely cozy restaurant as we had seen it a few times when visiting family in a nearby village. We were not disappointed, the welcome from the staff was nice and we were shown to our table. We all went for the special of the day, beer battered cod and chips served with mushy peas and tartar sauce, it was absolutely delicious, the portion size was plentiful. Some of us couldn’t finish it all. Will definitely be returning.

This place is unique, very cozy, the staff very attentive from the first moment, truly recommended, we will repeat.

Very clean and welcoming staff great.Menu could have some light bites for lunch the main menu quite heavy.We shared pizza and they were excellent.

I was surprised when I opened the door to get into this pub. From the outside it looked quiet. But behind the door was a hub of activity. Chatting, laughing, eating, and drinking. Tick tick tick. #Buddyfriendlypubs Definitely a rover’s return. The bar is looks amazing. The chef’s work behind the bar-but they still seem like they’re part of the experience. Which is a nice touch. We enjoyed the specials menu. The service was prompt, and I like it when they put water on the table without having to ask. Nice interesting menu. Beautiful village too. Definitely worthy of a visit.

An absolutely fantastic way to celebrate my birthday!

This was our first visit to the Sun Inn last Saturday, the food and service was exceptional. Joanna and her Team were very friendly and attentive and made us feel very special. Food was delicious and well presented. We were so impressed and will definitely be coming again.

What a great pub, with fantastic service and great atmosphere. We had the £10 fish and chips special last night it was huge with fantastic homemade batter and thick wedge/chops thank goodness we didn’t have a starter. The pub was full with local drinkers able to watch the rugby in the bar and dinners and the staff catered well on a very busy evening. Thanks for a great evening gus

It’s not a country pub! It’s a restaurant! Which is a shame because Great Eastern is such a beautiful village but there’s no traditional pub seems they’re only interested in people that want to dine there is no space for a drink It’s very small in there I felt quite claustrophobic staff look rushed hectic and no time for anyone that didn’t live there and you have to book or you don’t stand a chance of getting even a bar snack we went up the road in the end and found a lovely traditional pub won’t be back!

Had the most incredible lunch and service today, the food was truly out of this world. Nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this fabulous pub and restaurant.

Restaurant is nice chairs comfortable and table right height to get your knees under it Bar was terrific good choice of real ales Menu had an Asian slant with fusion type dishes I tested the waitress and asked what soup of the day was she didn’t know ? Why Starter was very good garlic mushrooms with parsley different pickled onions wit sourdough I would have liked the bread toasted ? Why wasn’t it Main course arrived crispy squid and crab with vermicelli in a Vietnam broth I had to send it back it was cold My wife’s burger was raw in the middle that went back as well When we got it back it was bloody lovely Desert was simple ice cream can’t go wrong with that can you ? All in all great atmosphere great setting the very expensive food let it down if you want to charge five star prices I don’t mail paying but it’s got to be quality

We dined here one Saturday evening recently. We were very impressed with the restaurant design and layout it was very cosy……and busy. Clearly very popular. The front of house staff were very smiley, attentive and ensured we were well cared for. The menu provided us with an insight to the creative team behind the scenes. It was full of amazing dishes showing culinary innovation and artistry. We were had difficulty in deciding which dishes to chose because they all sounded very attractive. They were all served with good portions, very well presented, at correct temperatures and above all very delicious. We were delighted with the Sun Inn and we’ll be back again soon!

This is the way to run a village pub. Joanne runs it perfectly. Organised, spotless, great selection of food. Little pricey but good value.

Service really let our dinner down. We were on a table near the bar so I think we were forgotten, also noisy as in the bar. The food was mixed, the pork with noodles was too sickly sweet, steak at £40 is more expensive than most pubs around the area. Ice cream took so long to come we had to chase up and contemplated cancelling. This was a disappointing birthday meal.

The service was ok, food and menu were ok but I think overpriced if we had dined outside of the 50% off deal. What was such a shame is their lack of gluten free alternatives; no gluten free bread which meant I ended up with creamy mushrooms with no crostini bread as it was the only GF option on the menu… More choice in mains but was offered a burger without a bun…. Gluten free substitutes in bread typically come as standard now so really disappointing options…

Food is excellent staff are friendly and helpful. However if the Sun wants to continue charging premium prices it needs to consider overall dining experience - the garden needs a lot of tlc and the toilets are in serious need of refurbishing (tiles grout and sinks all need replacing)

This was our third fairly recent visit, a very last minute booking but they managed to accommodate us despite being fairly busy. What really sets this place apart are the high standards of service and a really strong menu. There is also a separate pizza kitchen with a wood fired oven but they allow the diners to pick from both menus and keep it well aligned. We didn’t have time for starters this time but when we visited before I had the monkfish scampi which was excellent. This time one had steak, one had linguine and the other pizza. All superbly prepared, presented and with super flavours. To cap it all off the waitress ran down the road to hunt us down as our daughter had left her glasses behind. Awesome service again.

Always love a visit to the Sun Inn. Food never disappoints, service is always great and the food too. Love the pizzas in the summer time in the garden just as much as food from the main menu and sitting inside. Never had a meal that disappoints here, one of my go to places.

Wednesday evening Birthday Celebration: Menu selection was fab, service and staff were super. Thank you Ollie and Harry for making Charlottes birthday celebration a lovely evening. Everyone had a great time. Really recommend the wine room. Just such a lovely space to have family get together.

What a find whilst staying nearby we visited on a Sunday evening after a recommendation.We were not disappointed set in a lovely picturesque village.We shared a pizza which was very tasty in beautiful surroundings.The bar staff were great and very accommodating excellent service throughout.

Welcomed in and had a table available. Good choice of drinks, but the food sadly didn't mention dietary restrictions and overall wasn't for us, so we didn't stop to have anything to eat, sadly. If you like a detailed menu with a slightly higher than average price point, and don't have specific alergies (noting you can of course ask, but we'd been put off really by that point) you'll be fine. If, however, you have an allergy or, like us, are a bit fussy, probably not for you.

Joe, the manager is absolutely brilliant there they have a great selection of pizzas from there woodfired oven and a great menu with a fantastic selection of beers and spirits and wines. Through work, me and my team end up going here, more often than not .

Love it here. Especially love the 5 pound lunch on a Monday! A group of us go when we can all get together and this is always our first choice. Best place me and my partner have found to eat in the area (and we live in corby)

Really great food, cosy atmosphere and lovely staff! Really very accommodating. I have a lot of allergies and intolerances and they offered and then made a starter to cater that wasn’t on the menu, was delicious and made me feel at ease about being such a pain. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Visited for a Sunday roast on the Bank Holiday weekend - the pub was very busy with several large tables in but the staff were doing well to manage. The food was fantastic - one of the best if not the best Sunday roasts we have had out at a pub. Wow! Really looking forward to coming back again. The only slight down side was the noise due to the large tables - with lots of hard surfaces and not a lot of soft furnishings the sound bounces around and it made it very hard to hear one another but once the groups had departed it was much better. All in all - five stars!

First thing you noticed as you walked in was the incredible noise, it was a total assault on the ears, a party of 5 it was impossible to talk to each other without shouting. Maybe this was just because it was a Friday, lip reading is a required skill! No alcohol free beer, one vegetarian meal choice so the option of a pizza was offered but sadly not available as it turned out there was no vegan cheese. The food all sounded and looked very nice but on the whole was bland and horrendously overpriced for what is essentially nothing more than a crowded pub, which was confirmed when the fringe of woman’s leather coat dangled over the plate of one of our party. It may be the in place to be seen locally for someone who is willing to pay £45 for a piece of steak but for me it was loud, expensive and pretentious.

I cant believe we have never eaten here before, the food was amazing and well worth the money. But it was the staff that made it an amazing experience, Joanne the restaraunt manager and her team are so friendly. We will be back.

We were there at the same time as the previous reviewer. Not sure what she’s on about, wonderful food, excellent service, 5 star all the way and a £50 tip left for the waitress as a thanks for a wonderful evening. Some people are just out there to scrounge a free meal.

Very poor. Had heard good things. Booked for my birthday on a Sat eve. Service throughout was awful. They were short staffed. We were ignored completely for half an hour. Three tables came in after us and all were served before us. One table came in 20 minutes after us and had their mains before we had even had our order taken. Waitress refused to look at our table so couldn’t even get a drinks order. Husband went to bar to get drinks in the end. Warm white wine. Cloudy beer. Manager just running around frantically. My food order was wrong and had to be returned. To be fair we didn’t pay - but it was a bloody shambles. Food decidedly mediocre and nowhere near worth the hefty price tag. Very disappointing experience.

We called in here as we were staying local, found a very warm welcome, the food served is delicious. It’s more upmarket than the usual pub food, we were looked after very well by Angela, Can definitely recommend this pub if you’re in the area.

We had the most amazing meal in the Wine Room at The Sun Inn. The food was exceptional, the Thai fish curry was incredibly fresh and tasty and there were rave reviews for the venison too. We couldn’t fault the food or atmosphere. All of the staff members were warm and friendly and did everything they could to make sure we had a special evening. We can’t wait to go back again. The most delicious meals worth every penny and more!

Amazing little gem of a pub. It was super busy when we arrived, but we were seen to quickly and taken to our table, which was in the garden room separate from the main pub, this was a bonus as the pub was so busy. First visit and on arriving, loved it, very busy,loved that, seated and attended to in very good time. My food was excellent, just olives and amazing bread then the Miso chicken salad, but the salad I love no iceberg lettuce in sight delicious. My only tiny prob was cutting it to eat in the bowel it was served in ,a lower wider bowel would have been perfect . Thank you to great staff, always important .

Absolutely gorgeous! We were sat in the wine room with is stunning. Only critism is there isn't much choice for kids especially ones who are vegetarian. Also when booked I advised we would need 2 Highchairs but they only had 1 which wasn't ideal with 2 1 year olds

We had a very pleasant experience yesterday,it was a birthday meal for me and The Sun inn was a good choice .The service was excellent we were seated next to a window inside as too hot to sit outside . I chose the Sea bass salad with miso sauce which was delicious and my partner had the monkfish green curry which he assured me was equally delicious. We chose the Baileys creme brulee for desert the perfect end to the meal .We highly recommend this Pub and will definitely be visiting again .
