The Sun Inn in Northumberland

Unassuming little place. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was tasty. And they some how had the largest, softest, whitest bath towels I have ever had the pleasure of using.

My brother and I stayed one night at the Sun Inn during our hike along the Hadrian's Wall. We were warmly welcomed by Daniela and her husband and had an exceptional time in this comfy place. Their smiles and generosity warmed our hearts. Thanks again, cheers from Belgium !

We were royaly welcomed at the Sun Inn after our walk on Hadrien's Wall. The personnal is very thoughtful. They proposed us to cook something even though their kitchen was already closed, they upgraded our room because it was free. A real symbol of generosity, do not hesitate to visit them !

Most lovely place to go. Every Sunday I go here for Sunday dinners and they are the absolute best. I refuse to eat Sunday dinners anywhere else but the Sun Inn. The owners are so friendly and kind, and they take real good care of you. Always a pleasure seeing them!

We had such a fantastic experience at The Sun in Hexham. The food was absolutely stunning – beautifully cooked, generous portions, and really well priced. Every dish felt like proper, hearty country pub fare, made with real care. The pub itself is a lovely traditional English country pub, full of character and warmth. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. It’s clear they genuinely care about making guests feel at home. If you’re looking for great food, a cosy setting, and a true taste of English hospitality, The Sun is a must-visit. We can’t wait to go back!

Only stopped by for a nice lunch. Lovely Lady runs the place with her husband/partner. Cosy traditional pub.

Lovely pub with a great selection of burgers and Italian food. We went twice during our stay at Sunniside Camping. :)

Popped in for dinner on a midweek evening and were really happy with our experience. The staff were really friendly, the menu was very reasonable, and the food was really tasty! My only suggestion would be a few more meat free choices on the menu, but otherwise its spot on!

Didnt use rooms. Just had a meal was ok till was leaving was told hadnt paid lucky paid with card so was easy to sort.

We stopped for a few pints and some food on our bike ride. The owner was more than happy to let us place our bikes in the pub garage whilst we had some fantastic ales and the most amazing pasta! I would recommend to anyone

I had such a great two night stay at this pub/b&b. It's run by a lovely couple for whom nothing was too much trouble. Extremely comfy bed, good shower, excellent breakfast, and located in the cute village of Acomb which is about a 5 minute drive (or a 40min walk) from Hexham. Chose this place over the Travelodge in Hexham and was definitely worth it. Would highly recommend.

Only visited to eat so cannot rate the rooms. The service was excellent, friendly and welcoming, the other customers/ regulars were also friendly. The steak and ale pie chips and sticky toffee pudding were brilliant. Highly recommend. Good prices too.

We were made so welcome by the husband and wife owners when we stayed when walking along the Hadrian's Wall Path. Comfy rooms, good wi-fi. By far the best pub grub we had all week. Great value price! (It is a couple of miles off the path, though. I wonder if they could offer a pick up/drop off service. The plumbing worked but made some interesting noises.

My sister and I visited the Sun Inn on Tuesday for lunch, we had the steak pie and chips Omg it was out of this world, so tasty. Pastry so soft and packed with delicious meat. Great service and great food. Definitely a good place to eat. We will be back..

Excellent bar meals and reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere. Lovely helpful, welcoming, staff. The food is really nice. Most of all the beer is excellent, with a good selection.

Extremely friendly and hardworking hosts! Highly recommend a visit it's in a great location to adventure out from and then you can end the night at this friendly pub before walking upstairs to your room. Breakfast was also very tasty!

Very friendly owners and tasty, wholesome food. The bedrooms were clean and well presented. Very good value and comfy beds. Recommend
