Stayed at Stradey Park hotel this was 3 minute walk away. Food was great and the homemade chips were amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful and to top it off they had the football on.

Really lovely homecooked food. Great portions and very reasonable.

Our meals were absolutely lovely and reasonably priced, despite being busy, the service was impeccable with staff very friendly, we will deffinately go back.

What a great pub Food was great and the staff was really friendly plenty of tables .....definitely worth a visit. 2 minutes walk from the hotel. I would give it 6 stars if I could 👏👏

On a 49th anniversary break at stradey park hotel and found this pud down the road excellent homemade food and lovey young chap served us can totally recommend it

Party of 8 and we had to pre order meals the the day before, food was very mediocre and the dessert had the smallest amount of pour on cream I have ever seen ! Car park does not have disabled parking bays and toilets do not cater for disabled at all

Staying up here for a week at the strady park hotel saw this pub right next to it went in first impressions great. Good greating from staff and very friendly had the mixed grill was really good and price ok shame about the chips to greasy and like stodge great price for beer. Went back next day had the burger again great but same again the chips are the same sorry you need to look into this back again had the salmon but sorry for the price of it was not worth it vegetables cold and peas hard had the sea food basket as well thinking it was going to come out in a basket but came out in a type of high tub with just a few bits of what looked like frozen sea food. Also had the loaded fries bad mistake same stodgy chips but with looked like a jar of shop bought tika sauce pored over it. Just one more thing the big guy chef should make a better appearance of himself and also decide whether he works in the kitchen or in the kitchen. But on a good note with maybe a few changes could just be a bit better but if we come back this way will call in again

The Stradey Arms, bugger me look at the heft on that meaty chop! Mhmmmmm.... I found myself today in Llanelli. The sun beaming down on me for today was a special day! I was meeting my demented brother Francine Finklestien-LeCox. We haven't spoken in the best part of a millennia. He was a wizzard like myself but used his powers for darkness... he was obsessed... consumed by his quest to have the biggest, heftiest, girthiest magic wand in the world! He wanted to have the biggest LeCox! We agreed to meet with my sister Maxwell Mergatroid McGonigal the 3rd as an adjudicator. We chose a neutral battle ground, The Stradey Arms. We met at precisely 13:30. We walked into the pub and sat down. We had a civil conversation. We did have a millenia's worth of history to catch up on. The waiter/barman was a young man named Liam. He was friendly and very polite. Maxwell ordered the scampi. Francine ordered the home made chicken curry and I ordered the lamb chops. My absolute favourite meat. I've had alot of experience handling meat... handling, fondeling, tenderising juicy succulent meat! We sat down and Francine and myself spoke. We agreed that our powers had blinded us both to what was our destiny! Our destiny to annoy the heck out of the Pontardawe Inn! Our destiny to taste and review the best food in the world! Our destiny to rule the universe with a note pad and pen in one hand, our LeCoxs (wands) in the other and the underworld crystals in the other!!! All in the worship of the ten Bernards! I'm sorry I digress... we waited for quite some time for food to arrive. We may be immortal but jeez. We waited nearly 35 minutes. However when my meal arrived I was impressed and could see why it took so long. However, with Maxwell's scampi and Francine's curry it was slightly more difficult to see what could have taken so long! My three lamb chops were and inch thick! Seared wonderfully on the grill with a crunch. "Look at those big meaty boys" I remarked in astonishment. Cooked a perfect medium rare. And then I saw the chips! FRESH CHIPS! HOLY MOLY! In ever restraunt and pub I've been too the chips have been frozen! What a delightful change! The lamb and mint gravy could have been a thicker. Not Donald Trump thick, more Joey Essex thick... The scampi were disappointing. Frozen. Good old Whitby Scampi. The curry was okay. Lacked seasoning. Well... it lacked seasoning except for the chilli powder. On the car ride home, I had a phone call from a crying Francine. His bum hole had been melted shut... poor fella... We paid our bill and we left satisfied with the meal. The Stradey Arms 4/5 (If everything was done to the standard of those big meaty chops, it would be a solid 5/5)

What a lovely place for food thank you so much.

The quality of the food spoilt my wife's birthday .I ordered a full rack of ribs and my wife grilled cod .The ribs were so dry and hard you could not cut then with a knife ,in fact i had real difficulty trying to pull then apart. My wife received poached cod instead of grilled as requested .The sauce provided was oily and tasteless .I informed Nicola the waitress and returned my ribs for the Chef to evaluate . I was offered another choice to offset my disappointment ,but due to my wife's food being tasteless I declined . Nicola was pleasant and helpful and I settled for another glass of wine. Very disappointing!

We had the carvery, which was very nice, and the staff were constantly back and forth, making sure everything was ok, I would definitely recommend.

Came from newport for the half marathon, google recommended, can't praise enough, quality of food was excellent and plenty of vegan choices,not to mention how reasonable the prices were, definitely bring the family back for a day out

It was very busy, so I had to wait for quite some time. But the food was lovely. I had the pie, which was delicious, and they brought me more gravy when I asked them

The customer service was amazing, we were served by liam and louise. They were both very friendly. Our food was absolutely lovely, had a battered cod and chips, smouthered pork with chips, cheesy garlic bread and a sticky toffee pudding. 10/10 would recommend. I will be coming here again!!

Typical Welsh pub frequented by families of all ages, friends and people passing through. Menu full of typical pub dishes based on meat and fish with the inevitable fried potatoes, legumes and salad. Welcoming environment and friendly, helpful staff. Cleanliness is a must. The 100% Welsh Brain beer is excellent

My wife and I visited the Stradey Arms on Friday night because the menu at the local hotel was so limited. The menu, food and service was so good we returned again on the Saturday night. Make sure you book in advance though it gets busy for good reason.

Best pub in town. Fact! Entertainment every weekend. Good range of beer and outstanding food.

Very nice and friendly staff with good service but the chips were undercooked and the vegetables seemed frozen and just warmed up.

Wayne and co give a warm welcome are friendly and charasmatic especially KARATE KID,coffee is good and cheap and comes with biscuit drinks are a good variety and brekkys are lovely Great pub,great atmosphere and top it all great customers and that’s from a JACK ATB with the business and thanks for great welcome 🙏🙏🙏

Best meals we have had all week coming back soon

My wife had chicken, bacon, leek and I had steak and ale pie. Both were excellent all homemade and freshly cooked. We get so fed up with reheated mush in pubs and restaurants these days. Service was also exceptional exceptional

The Stradey Arms is a lovely pub that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were attentive and always eager to assist, making the overall experience enjoyable. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The entire venue, including the rooms and toilets, was spotless and well-maintained. There's a cozy, inviting vibe that makes it a great place to relax. It’s family-friendly too, with a small play area for children and outdoor seating. The only downside is the limited parking, but it’s still worth a visit for the overall quality and service.

Me and my wife called in for lunch. We were greeted by very friendly staff who were quick to take our order. The food was outstanding. The chef’s chilli was superb and my wife’s sausage and mash was delicious. We followed up with dessert’s which again hit the spot. We will definitely be coming again soon. Highly recommended.

Good food (chips were great) and service great,but it was spoilt a bit due to the noisy table next to us. Otherwise it was a good night.

We found this pub by chance but hadn't booked a table . It was Sunday lunch time and Lisa found us a table without any fuss. The carvery was tasty and great value. We had drinks in the bar and served by Wayne.Both of their hospitality was above and beyond our expectations. We returned on Monday to celebrate our anniversary. We had a fabulous meal in a fantastic atmosphere .We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves .iara was our waitress and she was brilliant. This is a hidden gem and must to visit if in the area. We will definitely be seeing you again.

It's our first time here for food and certainly not our last. Nice welcome from the barman, very pleasant and helpul. We ordered the smothered chicken and 2 x 4oz cheeseburger wither PROPER chips. It was spot on in fairness, just ordered desserts, so looking forward to this to finish off. Don't just take my word for it, give it a try folks. Good welcome. Beautiful food. Great atmosphere. Sorry guys, no food photos we were to busy tucking in.

Can’t recommend this pub enough, we visited twice whilst on holiday. A couple of pints in the bar, feeling relaxed and comfortable. We then managed to get a walk in meal on the Saturday night, it was very busy but they managed to squeeze us in and did warn us there might be a wait. As it happened the service was very quick and the food was outstanding. The staff were all wonderful and we felt very welcome and will definitely visit again. Maybe next time my other half will get the half rack of ribs instead of the full as he couldn’t quite manage it all, but had it for a late night snack. Thanks again x

I can’t recommend The Stradey Arms enough! We went there for my fiancée’s 31st birthday, and it was fantastic. Even though we only gave them a few days’ notice, they were super accommodating and made sure everything went smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The steak and ale pie was a hit amongst us. There were 9 of us, and every single person loved it. Great place, great staff, and just an all-around awesome experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Lisa and team accommodated my 30th birthday meal for 20+ guests, food was beautiful, staff were amazing and friendly. Would definitely recommend if your looking for a warm and hearty pub. Thanks guys 😊

I went here this evening with my wife and two friends to have a meal celebrating my 59th birthday, and we were all very pleased with the food and service. We all had very different meals and it was lovely. We will definitely be back.

Very nice lunch at a reasonable price. Prompt friendly service. Update: returned based on previous visit. Not so good. Very long wait for service and a long wait for meals. FFS don’t order the Burger, it’s pathetic.

.No complaints about the carvery as was decent and tasty enough.We were not told beforehand when booking that they would require the table back at 4 PM(we'd booked for 2pm). As the desserts were brought out we were informed that they would need the table back shortly after we had finished . We were then approached rather abruptly by A more senior member of staff, whilst some of the party still had not finished and rushed off the table basically and told to go into A jam packed bar with no seating and make sure you settle your bill first.I have A son with Autism so this jam packed bar with no room wasn't ideal for him,So we drank up and left.Not A great experience to be honest .And the battle axe running the place could certainly do with learning some people skills being in the hospitality trade that they are in.Eat up and get out basically ,that is how we were made to feel.If the information was given about them needing the table back when we booked we could have then made A choice.

Fantastic food and service for Mothers Day, and prices the same as a normal week. Served by the best Mrs Battle Axe ever

Pre booked for 15 of us. Yet still took over an hour. Mixed grill was very fatty. Port was inedible. Currys were cold. And chips were undercooked. Yes some of the party had a moan.. won’t be back.

Good food, fair price,atmosphere in the cosy bar was nice. Dogs allowed in the bar, which is good. All in all a good experience.

The live music was great and you can either sit outside or inside. Having two bars serving at the same time means that you don't have to wait for too long for your drinks.

We have been here often the last few weeks and tonight was very disappointing,the chicken curry was awful very tomato tasting and the large 12oz gammon came with hard eggs gammon was laid on peas and the chips were enimic Gammon was was extremely fatty Very disappointed as we have spent quite a lot here over a few weeks

If you happen to find yourself within the vicinity of this place, don’t mess about, chip along and book a table. I started off needing a table for four, then extended it to 9 and finally upped it to 11 within 24 hours. Not a problem for this place and it was very busy also. Lovely welcoming atmosphere to kick it off, drinks are very reasonable as is the excellent food. The main thing about this place is the staff though. Simply first class in all departments that can’t do enough for you. I cannot recommend The Stradey Arms enough, brilliant.

Place was spotless, airy and welcoming. Service was slow but staff were pleasant. Food was really tasty and hot. Good menu with lots of specials on the board. Really well worth a visit.
