The Stamford Arms in Tameside

Had a fun time at the pubs regular Wednesday night Quiz.

We had our son and daughter in law’s wedding reception in the barn attached to the Stamford Arms a few days ago. The whole event was fantastic. The food was very good (tomato and basil soup, roast chicken dinner and sticky toffee pudding/custard) together with the usual pre meal drinks and Prosecco toasts. The ambience was great and having the whole of the ground floor made access easier for the oldies. The Stamford Arms and landlady Becca made a very special day even better. Highly recommended!

Pet friendly, comfortable bar area and a great selection of food and drinks. The pizzas are awesome. Also there is a really good pool table on the lower floor which is easier to get to from the outside seating area, which is also lovely.

Excellent service and friendly staff. There is a good selection of options on the menu and the food is well prepared. However, the portion sizes are a bit misleading, "large" would class as a normal portion elsewhere and £2 extra for gravy seemed steep.

Brunch was amazing, nothing was too much for us. Great staff. Will come back

Didn't have food so cannot possibly comment. Just called when passing by whilst walking the dog, sat in beer garden, larger was nice and cold, dog enjoyed his water from the barrel that in situ in the garden. Recommend

Possibly the best food I've had in the pub tonight. Thanks for catering to my little need. Absolutely rammed for the quiz, too. What a pub, what a great bunch. Mgmt are amazing 👏 🤩

The Ribs are to die for both myself and my friend had them and enjoyed every bit of lunch today and then went one to the puddings, great food and good service.

Don't walk run to the stamford Arms the food is amazing and the atmosphere is amazing everyone is so friendly definitely recommend we had food and sides and about 8 alcoholic drinks and spent around £60 pounds

Food was overpriced and clearly frozen.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. We always eat here on Christmas eve and do the quiz every Wednesday. Great hosts and staff, great selection of drinks. Fantastic food in a great setting.

No menus on tables, food cold when it arrived, had to ask for table to be cleared after meal

We didn't eat here, so we cannot comment on the food. We popped in for a drink. Lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere.

Very unacommadating. 2 of us walked in on a chance for food. Got told there fully booked although there was only to tables with reserved on. The rest were empty. Very poor customer service.

Gorgeous pub with friendly brilliant staff. Food is really nice and a great menu to choose from. Fantastic real ales and lagers on at the bar with pool table downstairs near the newly opened barn.

Very welcoming, very friendly, excellent food. We had just been on a walk and this was exactly what we needed! Breathe of fresh air (after a breath of fresh air...). Nice people. Great job.

Food was pretty good, my chilli con carne was tasty but should have been spicier, or serve some chilli peppers on the side. The service was excellent, have us plenty of time to review the menus, took a lot of care to make sure we all got what we expected. Very good experience, will come back

Had a family catch up here at lunch time. Food was lovely. I had mac n cheese with a twist, I asked for chicken and they added the cajun chicken....it was lovely, and so was the garlic bread. Great service, really cosy and friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. Will be back!

Nice lady running the place fish and chips ok but could do with warm plates beer excellent

We had a lovely Saturday lunch here. We had reserved a table but it wasn’t too busy. The service was very good and the food was excellent. Very enjoyable

We go here because it’s dog friendly. The food is excellent and plenty of it. Good atmosphere in the pub Becca and James are lovely hosts, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Will be back soon x

Friendly atmosphere and staff, dogs allowed which is always a plus, delicious pub food and of course a running fireplace. Win win in my book!

i called in on a very wet SATURDAY lunchtime, having been caught out by a heavy shower of rain,looking for and finding a lovely wood burning fire to dry out with , and good beer to get wet with. i followed up with a steak baguette ,chips and salad ,of course i left a dry happy and a full customer , go try it yourself .

The pub has invested in a pretty marquee outside area to serve the public. We dropped in and found the staff very welcoming and accommodating. Hubby had the 1st pint since lockdown and enjoyed it - we ordered a pizza - it was delicious. 👍

Great little local pub that I've always driven past but never gone in. Went for lunch today, very covid secure hand sanitizer on entering.clean and tidy throughout. Food was cooked to order and tasted delicious! Will definitely be going back.

This pub is one of the most friendly places I’ve ever visited . The food is to die for and I mean that , for me to give somewhere a 5 star rating is very rare and this deserves every one of them . Since COVID they have gone all out in safety , everything is in place , table and seating areas sanitised after every use . Trust me when I say it’s a must place to visit. 10/10 for Becca and James the proprietors and there well trained staff

It's my local pub but I've never eaten there for a while now I wished I hadn't bothered. We went Thursday dinnertime and 2 people were in but not bothered as we were hungry,ordered cheese n onion pie with chips and mushy peas.peas were great, pie was alright just a bit too thick with pastry,chips well what can I say other than if I was to use them for nails they would have worked a treat must have been yesterdays.sorry Stanford never again

Recently renovated & a pleasant surprise. Excellent choice of beers & the food was home made, good quality & very reasonably priced. 6 of us had different meals & emptied every plate

Busy on a Friday night, had a great atmosphere. Cheese onion pie all home made, homemade chips wow! Great gin selection and beautiful Bakewell tart❤️ The new management are clearly working hard and deserve success. Homemade comfort food ✔️✔️✔️

Visited for the first time today whilst visiting family. Lovely light lunch. I understand the pub is recently under new management. The staff team were very pleasant, professional and efficient. The atmosphere was very good, a happy environment......always a good sign 😊 We only had sandwiches but the quality of the ingredients was excellent, all served with fresh salad and lovely crisp fresh chips. The Sauvignon and Amber beer went down a treat. The decor has been recently updated, modern and contemporary mixed with some lovely original features. Lovely clean toilets. Popped in after work for a Friday night treat, portion sizes and prices were very reasonable. Lovely pub and really enjoyed the food. Definitely recommend.

The pub has had a wonderful transformation it is now clean cheerful surroundings New Management lovely young couple with a zest to great every customer with cheery smile and any help you may need on choosing something tasty from the menu

Lovely food friendly staff will be calling in again

Food is absolutely amazing! Never had a bad meal. Great value for money. And great portion sizes. And very friendly staff made to feel really welcome.

We really enjoyed our surprise birthday buffet and party at Stamford Arms. Excellent food, great atmosphere, very helpful Sharon put out our balloons and decorations for us so that we could make it a surprise party. Thank you for a lovely evening and great food!

As always a good and friendly atmosphere, we went in for a couple at lunch on Xmas day. Plenty of space to sit and not too expensive on ale.

What a surprise! The most welcoming pub I have been in in the Mossley area. Great staff and fabulous people. My first time here but made extremely welcome.

Food here is always ok, not brilliant but its not bad too, fairly cheap and usualky quite busy.

Not the best bar food around! Staff very off hand,could do with some happy pills.

Went at Halloween. Nice big warm bonfire. Biggest fire I've ever seen. Burgers and beer. Absolutely packed. Wide range of real ale. Run by thwaites. Not my usual pub.

Best pub and food in the village

Went round to the Stamford for good and it didn't disappoint. There was ghree of us and we had Cheese and Onion Pie, Sausage and Mash and Fish & Chips. Massive portions and really tasty too! Would recommended and definitely will return. 👌
