The Stag & Pheasant - JD Wetherspoon in Mansfield

Decent pub but nearly always slow service. Not enough staff on. Several times we've seen the queue and gone elsewhere

Stopped in for a mid week lunch, used app to order. Food was good, but drinks took too long to be served, almost finished food. The bar staff need to help out servers when short staffed or busy.

Great food but gets very busy so go early if you want to get a table

I went to this establishment and to my horror could not find a clean table anywhere!!! I was not impressed, when I went to the bar the young lad chris who served me was a delightful young chap and helped me clear a table he did not however supply me with the correct eating implements for me to eat my food will not be going again people around me were very rude. :(

Great pub on the whole a good atmosphere the usual Wetherspoons menu and prices sports played here on the big screen good smoking area and large seating capacity stairs to toilets unfortunately and bar is a little slow getting drinks as only one person behind the bar most of the time

Lovely family breakfast, Only down side tables are a little cramped together but the food was as always amazing we go every Friday and its always lovely

Friday night - Loud , didn't try the food,but it looked normal good 'Spoons standard. Clean enough .. Staff don't appear too concerned about spilling beer on patrons when trying to do table service ,( black haired tattooed woman ,you know who you are ! -😄) ... Maybe in Mansfield it's de rigueur ?! Beer was good , cheap & plentiful. Recommended ...

Absolutely diabolical!! Had no food to make a meal yet tried charging the same price! The staff didn't seem the slightest bit bothered or wanted to do anything to help the situation and was actually really rude!

First of all no heating second 3 meals ordered the first was left on the side for 10 minutes until the rest were cooked. Last of all when I complained the server started to make joke about it to the kitchen staff.

This place is a staple in Mansfield. Excellent food exactly as expected from our much loved ‘Spoons’. Very good service. Lovely staff. Just a bit dated and tired but don’t let that put you off.

Definitely one of the best, if not the best pub in Mansfield. Themed days when it comes to cuisine. Very good price-quality ratio, nice decor, friendly service.

Can't order via the App and coffee machines not working on our visit. Food was average at best.

The staff were friendly, the food was good but the whole pub is looking run down and could do with a revamp.

Visited the pub on Saturday. It was very busy due to Mansfield being at home to Huddersfield. The food was good as normal. Unfortunately they only had 3 people serving behind the bar (Costa Coffee had more) The staff to customers ratio was totally unacceptable given the amount of people queuing for beer and food. To compound the issue the staff were very unfriendly and rude. My local Wetherspoons in New Barnet has more staff servicing. Will be very reluctant to return.

Visit with family. Good menu for a cheap and cheerful social. Good range of drinks to purchase at reasonable prices. Bit of a queue for the bar as one person was on but table service was quicker. Always busy but never been unable to get a table. Can't go wrong for value and no frills but a busy warm atmosphere

You get what you pay for so no, it isn't restaurant quality, but the food was good, hot and quite cheap. Pints of beer still cheaper than mainstream pubs and in conjunction with each other and bundled up with special offers when purchased together, what's not to love. I truly believe in use it or loose it so whenever I am in Mansfield I pop in whenever I can.

Excellent atmosphere, food was well cooked and presented. The waiting time was minimal we will be using again for Sunday lunch

It's ok, I ordered a small brekkie after a spontaneous night out with my mates, it wasn't a bad portion however most of it was just luke warm. It's a big place with decent prices.

Had the lasagne with chips. The lasagne was okay, but the chips were tough and only just warm.

What an absolute joke this place is. Staff not very obliging. Ordered 5 meals, 4 out of the 5 not available due to no chicken strips so had to go and have another look at the menu, immediately asked for the meal that was available to be put on hold but was told no as they'd started cooking it, literally 30 seconds. So dark in there. Managed to order 4 more dishes which first one was brought out wrong then the other ones took quiet some time to arrive. The dish I asked to be put on hold originally was actually the last to arrive. Tables weren't cleared whilst we were there. Desserts Ordered, no dishes collected so when dessert came the table was full, it was cleared at this point. Wouldn't recommend and certainly won't be visiting again. Get your act together spoons. It may well be a cheaper place to eat but does mean standards should be this low.

All round good venue both in the day and night time. Come most mornings for a coffee before work and never leave disappointed. The staff are always friendly. The shift leader Amanda never seems to stop and ensures the other guests are happy. Really clean venue and always welcoming.

I had steak and it was cooked just right for me service was fast and polite and good value for money . It was very busy so not many tables available. Large selection of drinks with plenty of offers available too.

Went there with my daughter for lunch today. The food was disgusting. Over cooked tasteless sausages, I even asked the waitress if they had given me plain pork sausages as they didn't taste of anything and she said no, we don't do anything other than Lincolnshire. The kids food was also burnt and processed mash. My daughter wouldn't eat it, then refused dessert (which never happens). Don't waste your money

Not to busy place, but cheap beer and clean and smart. Ok My wife & I had a meal and a drink, the service was good and the meal was adequate and quickly served. Enjoyed the rest from shopping.

Very busy, noisy, cramped environment. Cheap food and drink but quite slow service proving once again that you get what you pay for.

Food was warm at best but mostly cool when brought up to staff was told not muthey could do really big disappointment

Looks really nice but toilets up a lot of stairs.

Went there for a drink so after that I can go for dinner somewhere and ended up having my dinner there. Just amazing atmosphere. Great seating area. Big projector screen for watching football. Everything was at top. Cool staff, good service. I was here for a drink originally and going to move on to eat in a restaurant but stayed at this Spoons. I am really glad that i did. Good stop for get together.

*REVISED* Food isn't as good as it once was. I still come in for a drink, however the night I'm writing this, I'm waiting at the bar where everyone else is served before me although I had been waiting close to 20 mins... I had someone come to me at the bar who claimed to work there and sure enough she did know the bar staff, she begins dancing up against me and shouting. Very poor, the place has gone down hill over the past few years. Cannot poor a Guinness correctly, I ask for a pint, not half a pint and half head... You were great years ago, but now you've lost your touch...

After the closure of the Widow Frost, a Spoons pub a few doors away this was the only remaining Spoons in Mansfield. At one time service was appalling byand tables filled with uncollected glasses. Very pleased to report, probably due to change of manager, service is acceptable and tables are cleaned and glasses collected in an efficient and timely manner. A big change around. Well worth a visit.

Myself and my wife come to the Stag and Pheasant quite often great staff 👍 and very helpful just one thing wrong it's always cold 🥶 as the air conditioning is always blowing that way it could be 25 degrees outside but inside its more like - Degrees brrrr every thing else is brilliant 👏 😀

The Stag and Pheasant Mansfield was very nice

The food and prices are reasonable, fish and chips, tender fish and crispy skin. The set price of £11 includes hot or cold drinks, plus optional alcoholic drinks of £1-2. There is a children's meal, but underage friends cannot enter during dinner time. The pedestrian passage is too narrow and is not suitable for guests in wheelchairs. .

Not bad for a Wetherspoon's, Worthington Cream Flow,nice.

Had a brilliant night last night may the 4th they played some brilliant music but wasn't very happy with the service there was a few of us waiting at the bar to be served but then some lass walked straight up to the bar and got served by Daniel not very good in my opinion think he needs a talking to about customers service skill but apart from that a great night

Good service. Lacks a bit in terms of atmosphere (Very corporate) however things are clean and well managed. A great place to sit and chat whilst you eat.

Had fish and chips not bad price and very nice

I went here whilst working away and needed to find somewhere for food. It was very busy upon arrival however i found a table and ordered via the app. The food and drinks came very fast and was very reasonably priced. Food was to a good standard, standard pub food. If i ever work that way again, i will definetly pop back in.

My partner and I ordered a veg curry dish with naan and popadums, and I ordered bangers n mash in red wine gravy! Although they tasted nice they both arrived not very hot at all, luke warm at best. I asked for more gravy for mine which never arrived. Also it arrived in a large bowl instead of a plate and the mash looked like packet mash, not very appetising-looking, and I was expecting more for the money tbh! The lady I asked for more gravy, as there wasnt much of it, didnt seem that interested and never returned! My partner had to go to the toilet and when she came back the food was so cold that she could no longer eat it! VERY VERY POOR. They did refund for the curry after my partner complained about how cool her dinner was, unfortunately I ate mine as I was starving!

This is a 'Spoons' that I quite often frequent. The staff firstly are top notch, they are friendly, approachable and happy to help! The pub itself is huge with a spacious layout, a sheltered smoking area out the front which is appealing to some patrons. Many places, tables and booths on different levels to eat, a centered spot for the kitchen aswell for quick and nice pub grub. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is how dimly lit it is for such a large establishment. Doesn't create much of an atmosphere. Overall, I will keep visiting if in the area.

Great place inside, very clean, service is super fast, I ordered on the website and it came within 5-10 mins with the drinks being straight away, great service and for the price of the food, it was great, thanks!

Fed up of visiting pubs and getting a double baileys, a single baileys is a 50ml measure, a double will be 100ml measure but yet I get served a double as a spirit 50ml, educate and train your staff accordingly

We arrived it was very busy but the staff looked after us and found us a table. We had breakfasts which were lovely. They even got us childrens knife and fork for my granddaughter

Went tonight to celebrate my retirement with a group of work colleagues. Everything was top drawer and I really enjoyed the evening. We were originally going to move on to eat but stayed at the Stag and Pheasant and I am really glad that we did. Thank you to the staff for making it an enjoyable evening.

Needs major refurbishment. Carpet tacky. Queueing area around bar is silly why can they not serve at each end

Didn't eat any food as it was a girls night out, but the staff was lovely and amazing and so was the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Erm, not my favourite Spoons to be honest, should have kept the Widow Frost. Last time we were in, it was dead, the door staff came over and told us to move away from the bar as he said 'it might get busy' it didn't get busy.

Staff can be quite rude and can feel like sardines in a can

They need to add some lights as it’s so dark you cannot see what you are eating. The building has really nice high ceilings so feels spacious but noise carries so there are no quiet places. Would not recommended the roasted vegetables as loosely there are more than 2 but it is only really every colour of peppers and courgette. So it’s really a bowl of slimy mushy veg not what I was expecting and I did try to eat it but it was inedible. We also ordered cookie crunch basically a broken biscuit with 2 scoops of ice cream this took 20 minutes to receive and this was after we were asked if we were ready for our desserts. Place didn’t seem busy for a Tuesday afternoon but will not be considering returning

I've eaten here often over the last fortnight. Tonight I had steak. Absolutely perfect. Cooked medium rare as ordered, plate very well presented, prompt service and outstanding value for money. I applaud the kitchen staff for being consistently excellent. Well done.

Welcome to the stag and Pheasant!!! Extremely racist and rude staff, a blonde old woman, a young manager (woman) and another young woman with dark hair (who ended up gossiping about us, as soon as we were leaving). Talking bad to us because we were foreigners...while I was trying to order two drinks and some food. The old blonde woman tried to accuse me I was under age when I'm nearly 25, my mum who was there is nearly 50 and my son who is 1 y old was with us and needed to have some food and outside it was freezing. My poor mother was trying to pay struggling with her English was treated horrible. They in a rude way told her they wouldn't sell her anything as I was under age (I'm nearly 25!), normally I would take it as a compliment but this time It was such a disgusting experience and we used to go there with my partner but now they lost 4 costumers and probably more as my friends and family will know about this place. The only man who was working was super chilled. Didn't get involved and kept serving other costumers. I would check who I place as a manager as doesn't know anything about costumer service and how to be polite and not racist. By the way I'm a manager, receptionist and secretary myself. So It was such a shame see how we provide the best costumer service and when we go out to eat some food we get treated like animals. Embarrassing.
