At first we went into the Hotel bar, having asked if we could come in with our dog. She was made welcome and even given a biscuit. When we left we asked what was in the other room, lots of laughing going on. We were told it was the public bar and that is where we spent the night. The Crabby One watching the football and me talking to the bar staff and my dog! We worry, going into strange pubs, how will the regulars great us? There was no need to worry, we were made welcome before we got through the door. Again our dog was welcome, spoilt with biscuits. The staff were friendly to us as well as our dog, clean and tidy and the glasses even got polished, this is a dieing art!

We had a quick lunch after our golf. A bit old fashioned and tired restaurant but the menu offered plenty of choice. The sandwich and soup was really nice and all at a reasonable price. Would recommend to anyone wanting a bite after their round!

We came across The Stag at Golspie Golf Club by accident. Looking for somewhere that we haven't eaten before, we saw the sign and thought we would see what they had on the menu for lunch. The young barman gave us menus to look at and was very friendly. We chose Steak Pie and Ham & Egg Salad. There was a group of local golfers in having a sort of meeting, arranging a local tournament. The craic was very amusing and they even had a joke with us. Our food arrived after about 15 minutes and was nicely prepared. My husband loved the pie and I thoroughly enjoyed my salad. Prices ranged between £7-£10 with a variety of hot meals, soup and sandwiches. Friendly place to eat with a fantastic view. Definitely recommended.

We arrived at the Stag expecting good wholesome food, based on the previous reviews. The clubhouse itself is fairly basic decor, but that is made up for by the lovely views. The lunch menu was limited and reasonably priced - with most mains for lunch in the £8-£9 range. Unfortunately the quality of food was poor. Our party ordered steak pie, beef burger and lasagne. The steak pie consisted of lumps of tough meat, floating in thin stock, with a puff pastry hat. My partner described the burger as unedible. The lasagne was probably the best dish, but only average.

The Stag is situated in the clubhouse of Golspie Golf Club and has views over the course itself. Beyond the course is the Moray Firth and to the north the views are towards Golspie and Ben Bhraggie with its statue of the first Duke of Sutherland atop it. The food was prepared for us, was wholesome and reasonably priced. The staff were pleasant, attentive and efficient. Bar prices were very reasonable. All in all a pleasant dining experience which will be repeated.

Visited Stag on the Green today for lunch. Very professional service from Molly and equally amazing food. I had spinach and goats cheese omelette, my husband the burger (which I'm having next time) and my granddaughter the tomato soup which arrived with a lively warm role and butter which she devoured. Lovely atmosphere and amazing views across the golf course and out to sea. Family friendly and relaxed and a wonderful food experience. A must to visit.

I think The Stag has changed since I was sixteen. There used to be dances every week and for all i know there still are. Anyway, now much older and wiser, I had lunch there with family members this summer and the food and service were very good. The bar looks different - but things do if forty-plus years have passed. Recommended.

I was travelling Scotland & it's islands for months & in Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, (between travelling the islands of Harris and Lewis & North & South Uist & Eriskay) I met a man who highly recommended that when in Inverness, Hootenanny is pretty much a must try experience for Scottish music and dancing so after that when I was visiting in Inverness for sometime, I did go in there on a Friday night & then subsequently as a result, Saturday + more nights in June & July & met some very friendly local folk who who embraced me into their lives & added massively to the rest of my tour of Inverness, Loch Ness, Mount Ben Nevis, Fort William, Fort Augustus, Glen Coe, Applecross, Tomintoul, Aviemore, the Cairngorms, Cullen, ... the whole of Scotland, the NC North Coast 500 miles route, Beauly, Bora, Wick, John O'Groats, Thurso, Orkney and the Shetland Islands, Lairg, Durness, Scourie, Ardvreck Castle, Achiltibuie & The Summer Isles + more of its islands of Mull, Tobermory, Iona, Staffa, Isle of Aran, Oban, Mull of Kintyre, Cambletown, Loch Lomond, Dumbarton, Glasgow, Paisley, Moffat, ... making more rich & magnificent memories. I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

Just walked in for a late night bite. Ordered the veggie pizza and cheesy garlic bread. Both were delicious. The pizza is thin crust, so easy to eat and not too heavy. The girls working there were really nice and welcoming. The biggest thing we noticed is the cleanliness of the kitchen and work area - big ups! Would recommend!
