Never had food! However, drinks were served quickly even though the bar was fairly crowded. The beers were reasonably priced and there were several different draft beers on tap to choose from. There was also a few different Rum options.

Have real ales, not the best range in the area

Best pub in Dundee. Was always a bar and has kept the Victorian features with a wide selection of beers and shelves well-stocked with single malts. A firm favourite with Welsh people.

This is an excellent bar dating from the Edwardian era. A brilliant range of beers are served and well kept here. Good place to watch sports and sit in good company. Genuinely one of my favourite bars anywhere. Staff are superb. Can't fault the place Also great on a sunny day. You can sit outside and watch the Perth Road go by.

Good atmosphere and usually some good well managed real ale

Dundee's best pub, beautifully traditional looking both inside and out with wooden panelling and in the lounges which are cosy rooms off the main bar. The pub appearance is trad however the beer choice is vibrant with modern craft beers alongside the cask ales. There's is food too which was fresh/ hand made. Atmosphere excellent with a good mix of young and old people.

I am never disappointed by this bar. Great beers, friendly and efficient staff, buzzing atmosphere, and reasonable prices.

Great venue for watching football, we were in the room through the back a couple of Sundays before Xmas and had a cracking afternoon.

Traditional pub with very good selection of drinks and good service. Excellent choice of malt whiskies. Small selection of excellent toasties with tea or coffee if requested. Can be busy but bar area is reasonably large with two room off to sit in.

Busy old bar on the Perth Road with emphasis on busy and old. Proper old school pub known by everyone as ‘Mennies’ after a former owner. Professional staff, tons of TVs, live music and little snugs. Full of locals and maybe the odd student. By far the busiest pub on the Perth Road during the week.

First time been in this pub and really friendly reminds me of my local pub in stonehaven. Hopefully will be back soon 👍

Fab traditional pub not far from Dundee centre. Massive whisky selection so worth a visit if you are in one of the local hotels. Also has some great tourist pamphlets, make sure you pick up the Dundee art walls one.

Great family pub. Properly good staff and the owner is class. It’s got a classic interior and is a Dundee staple. Taps are really good and the local taps are well worth checking out!

Atmospheric pub with charm in the west end of Dundee. When it is half full, it has a lovely buzz. The separate rooms and TVs with the sound down means that it’s good to just sit about and talk. Sensibly small selection of real ales that are really well kept; can see why the bar has won awards. Seems to always have one local beer on (and often one from Hales based south of the border). Their ham and cheese toastie is also a step ahead.

Very nice surroundings, lovely and quiet no noise! Staff friendly.

Excellent pub with an excellent, varied, clientele. Been drinking there for many years and the present Landlord has worked very hard to maintain the pub's past high standards. Friendly staff who treat everyone with respect and make them feel welcome. Dundee"s best pub by a mile. 29/12/2022 - still going strong.

It's a bit of a walk out of town but we'll worth it. Lovely bar, good prices, excellent bar staff. 71 brewing is not too far and can be on way back in to town. Do both and enjoy your fitness regime.

I visited the place with a friend who had not been in the bar for 40 years. She described it as a real pub. Indeed it was. Excellent service and reasonably priced. The side room, we were in had beautiful oak panelling and was occupied by about 6 young men on their way to London for England v Scotland football. They were full of fun. A great pub. I hope to be back

Currently shipping in this long-established bar in the West end of this beautiful city which is a very popular drinking spot with very friendly knowledgeable staff and packed to the gunwales at the weekends. A great selection of spirits and beers.

Great atmosphere, pleasant staff with a friendly welcome.

Deservedly busy pub on the westbound road, a mile out of Dundee centre. Near to university too, so it benefits from that trade as well. The building and its interior is of national importance, so you will be able to admire many original features and fittings from the mid 1800s. The beer offering is no piece of history however, as six or seven cask beers from across the country are usually served. Get here early as the place is often packed. Highly recommended.

Lovely bar, good choice of beers, quick service although it was busy, Edwardian style interior which has been looked after, well worth the visit.

The Speedwell, or 'Mennie's' is a Dundee institution! A very atmospheric bar with good trad music sessions on a Tuesday night. The whisky selection is superb; if you're a gin or rum drinker you're well enough catered for too.

Great traditional bar... Huge range of whisky, gin and decent range of rums, vodka and mixers. Great range of beer including real ale and craft beers on draught and bottled. TV showing football, rugby. Always busy.

Traditional Scottish bar with various snug rooms and long bar . Good selection of craft beer and extensive choice of whisky. Good atmosphere mixed age groups . TV for football but not intrusive.

A peculiar but interesting pub, massive selection of drinks, I can't say I've ever seen anywhere with so many different whiskey! Quiet rooms as well as a very large bar area, large capacity.
