Had a really good Sunday lunch here, the beef was good quality, vegetables, and Yorkshire pudding delicious. Roast potatoes not the best.. For pudding had a mini Stp with flat white, which topped off the meal nicely. Highly recommended coming here, always a good meal. Book in advance to guarantee a table.

Great place to visit. We often go there for lunch with friends and family. Good food, good service, and lovely surroundings.

I always have the soup and it's usually lovely but this week the pea and ham wasn't. The fried bacon was chewy and I had to take a knife to it to cut it up. Perhaps next time proper ham would be a better addition.

Just popped in for Coffee but the service was excellent.

Disappointed, cold plates , cold food, order was wrong twice after having it checked, had food im intolerant to brought out, waited ages for food, mine came out after everyone else finished, got food vouchers but I won't be using them as won't come back, shame

Really enjoyed this place. Beautiful, picturesque and full of character. Had a meal with my family here and we had such a great time. The food was excellent. Not cheap, but certainly worth it.

Food was excellent and great value. Dining area is spacious, nicely decorated and nicely lit. Service was quick, friendly and professional. Strongly recommended.

As frequent visitor and returning customers out last visit was very disappointing. The service was not good. We always like to start with a cafetière of coffee for 2 but was told by the waitress that it wasn't available. So we ordered other hot drinks. Whilst eating our food we over heard the table next to us ordering a cafetière of coffee and then not long afterwards it was served to them. Which then prompted me to question our waitress who had told us we couldn't have a cafetière of coffee. Her reply was on us ordering a cafetière there was none washed. I was shocked by her reply as I found this unbelievable as she could have simply said on us ordering if you give me a moment as there is no cafetière"s available as they haven't been washed I will do that for you now. But no she didn't which I thought was very lazy and she couldn't be bothered. Not good. So therefore we are not sure if we will be returning again as it is a shame as the food is very good but does not marry up with the service.

Just had lunch, and it was really good. Staff were very nice and helpful (even if one was a Liverpool supporter), and the place seemed so fresh and airy.

Gluten Free quiche, pies and dessert it's one of the few places my choice isn't limited. Food is excellent and staff are amazing, efficient, friendly and helpful. I dine here regularly and I've never been disappointed. You even get a gluten free flapjack with your coffee and if you have the ice cream the shortbread is gluten free. Jug of cold water offered on arrival always a sign of good service for me. Keep up the good work. Try the crispy beef salad with sweet chilli dressing delicious.

The service was exemplary. Fabulous girls evening. Atmosphere dropped off at 9pm as we were the last table. Our server did not rush us and made coffee several times. The food was delicious.

Anywhere dogs are allowed inside is good for me. Amazing staff making a fuss of all the dogs. Nice drinks selection too..

My daughter recommended The Sparrowhawk as somewhere new for us to eat at and it was a great suggestion. My daughter had the pork and beef roast dinner, which looked amazing and came with all of the trimmings. I went for the burger and fries, which was great and really tasty and filling. Make sure you leave room for dessert though. I had the sticky toffee pudding and my daughter had the brownie. Both were generous portions. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back in the future.

It was very busy here even though a Tuesday night , however the service was still very friendly and very efficient. I had a great pint of hoppy beer (white rat) , caponata bruschetta and a cheese onion potato pie. They've upped the prices here since I last visited, but also the quality the food has become more high end Happy to report dog friendly plus plenty of vegetarian and vegan options!

Visited here on Saturday night as a table of 4. We were able to have our dogs with us, which was a bonus. Service and drinks excellent. Food was tasty but we think it might have been left under the hot lamps too long. Great selection of GF Nevertheless, we would visit again (even if it would be for drinks) as the staff and the place itself were excellent. I would recommend the crispy chilli beef with cashew nuts as a starter. It would be nice as a main with rice.

Exactly what you’d expect from this consortium of pubs. Well kept, great staff, lovely bar and decent food.

Fantastic English pub Superb location, with great food and staff service

Service was shocking. Having been seated nothing happened, 15 minutes went by, we were then served water and attempted dialogue to order but were ignored. They took a drinks order that took another 15 minutes to arrive and again would not engage with us to order food. After 40 minutes I had to force a waiter to stop and take our order. Will not be going back. Shame as the food was good. Also was cold as they kept the front door open, oblivious of how older customers in this case my mother was feeling.

Stopped here earlier this week for lunch. Amazing building and grounds. Fab service and friendly staff. Dog friendly. Awesome menu and wine list. Food was absolutely top notch and portion sizes, value for money etc. Really nice inside and lots of space and character. Great place. Will deffo come back here.

We called ahead and booked a table for four of us and our dogs. Arrived to find many other dogs happily ensconced with their owners. Staff are very friendly and it's a lovely cosy place. Food is good too

Had a delicious meal here this evening, staff where exceptionally welcoming, polite and attentive, my partner had the braised lamb for all lamb lovers couldn't recommend this dish highly enough, paella also absolutely divine 😋, the pub garden was beautiful 😊

Hey what a great eatery the Sparrowhawk is when visiting Formby,The welcome you get from the staff is really welcoming the food is really nice nice and cosy feeling inside and when the sun is shining it's the icing on the cake. Well done to all the staff that's why people like me and my family love it so much.

Apologies to my department mum, but probably the best roast dinner I have had. Everything cooked to perfection. Very generous portions. Many thanks to kitchen staff. Service was first class.

Family had bought us a voucher for our anniversary so we had a lovely meal here.We booked for 5pm which was a great time.Shown to our table straightaway. We both ordered the chicken slider for starters.It was very tasty indeed.I had the lamb and husband the steak.Both meals were excellent. For desserts I had the Eton mess and husband chocolate brownie. Whoever said the portions here were small 🤔They were big meals.I had a bottle of Rose half of which I took home.Also we took home a box of flapjacks.The only thing I would say is there were a few dogs barking at each other.It's no place for a nice restaurant like this.Leave them at home.The nice staff were really attentive and we didn't wait long between courses.All in all a lovely experience not cheap at all but for a treat I would recommend.

Nice lo cc action with indoor and outdoor areas when the weather permits. Great service, beautifully presented food at average prices. Alcohol free beer available on tap or bottled for those driving or not drinking and some vegan options available. The pasta was better than many I have experienced. The only thing I would like to see is an increase in the number of vegan options available, although to be fair, there were items available in the starters, mains and desserts. Would recommend this restaurant.

We recently dined at The Sparrowhawk, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The service was impressively fast, and the waitstaff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They really knew the menu well, which made ordering a breeze. Our food arrived hot and quickly, ensuring we didn't have to wait long to enjoy our meal. The waiters never seemed to stop, constantly clearing tables and assisting customers with a smile. Their efficiency and dedication truly stood out. The Sparrowhawk is a pub, but with a fancier twist. It combines the cosy atmosphere of a pub with a touch of elegance, making it a perfect spot for a memorable dinner. Highly recommended!

Very nice meal, excellent range of gluten free options (best that I'm aware of) for those with an intolerance, all food well presented, each course served at the same time (one of my pet hates) and very attentive service, will return without hesitation.

We love going to the Sparrowhawk, the staff are always nice and friendly the service is fast and the food is delicious! The drink selection is amazing as well as having low-alcohol beer on tap, one of the only places in the local area that does. As well as this they are dog-friendly which is a massive bonus too!

Visiting The Sparrowhawk with my wife and two friends was a delight. It's a spotlessly clean and well decorated place with a welcoming vibe. The staff were super friendly, making us feel right at home, and the service was quick, especially at the nice bar area. Their Sunday roast is a must-try, it's outstanding and left us all impressed. It's a cozy spot for a great meal and chat, highly recommend it!

Service was a tiny bit slow but only because they were (deservedly!) popular and full! The food is delicious and well worth the wait. Overall 5 stars :) we recommend the lamb and sticky toffee pudding especially ;)

A very comfortable well set out restaurant. I had a cheese onion and potato pie with piping hot chips done to a t. My partner a roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. The service was excellent Definitely will return And I did. Still excellent And once again. And the pie again. Whereas I cannot fault service nor atmosphere I think that given my pie and my partners dish had been reheated I have to drop a star. My partners beef improved with a reheat but my pie looked sloppy and sad. Not what I expect from the Sparrowhawk

Not our first visit to The Sparrowhawk and like our previous experience we were served a first class meal by a friendly, efficient and very professional team. Seating options range from dog friendly through to restaurant dining, so something for everyone. The menu is well balanced and every question about the various options was answered, the food speaks for itself - delicious. We travelled for over an hour to have our lunch here - enough said.

I will keep my review short and to the point. Staff pleasant but inattentive. Food.... a bit stuck for words, easier to say absolutley abominable in every respect. Price / value for money, amount for 2 people £80 starter and main only. Had far better at a transport cafe at an eighth of the price. VFM none. Oh the glass of rioca was VFM if only to drown my sorrows for the experience, which won't be repeated.

My second visit to this restaurant. Very pleasant place to enjoy good food and drink for a celebration or just for a night out. Very reasonable prices as well
