The South Indian Kitchen in Manchester

DON’T ORDER FROM HERE!!!!!! Extremely disappointed with today’s order from South Indian Kitchen. We used to order from here regularly, but it seems like they’ve either changed the thali contents or seriously dropped their quality. The quantity was noticeably less, and there was barely any gravy to go with the rice – we had to leave 80% of it untouched. On top of that, the delivery took over an hour. This was a terrible experience overall. Definitely not ordering again unless they improve.

This delivery left me feeling very disappointed. The food arrived hot, and the portions were considerably less than expected for the price, but that's understandable given the current state of restaurants in the UK. I ordered Kerala chicken curry and Kerala beef curry. Both were completely runny and tasteless, and the onions in both currys were not sautéed; they were simply boiled meat and chicken with onions, not curry. I am no longer the one ordering from this shop. - Thank you for your memorable experience.

This much sambar they gave with less quality for veg meal

The worst food I've ever ordered in the UK. I strongly advise against ordering it. The idly was undercooked, the kurma was leaking, and the fried rice was just packed with carrots and cabbage.

Delivery waiting time more then 2 to 3 hours in resturant end not delivery end....

I would have given zero rating if there had such…yet another worst experience.Ordered 2 chicken Biriyani through uber eats,first of all it took more than 1 and half hours.The rice was having some fowl smell and there is no gravy no pappoms.I don’t know how they meant us to eat that fowl smelled rice without any of the sides.This is disgusting.Could not eat Biriyani and simply wastage of money and time.Never order from this place again!

i wish i could give no stars. i went to collect my food and the food was not even there and i called the store to ask about it and they said they would call me back never called me back worst service and experience ever.

🔴🔴Never ordering food again 🔴🔴 I should have seen the reviews before ordering, ordered food around 12 morning , should have got it by 1:15, received food around 2:30, called them 3-4 times asking if food ready, they said issues in the kitchen later food is ready for 2-3 calls, never sent , I told them if it is ready send it , update it on uber eats that food is ready, later driver picked it in 15 minutes . Took another half and hour for delivery, received my food it was cold, food was decent. , Sambar was spoiled and had a smell. Disgusted, tried cancelling order with uber eats it said I will be charged 9.5£ if I cancel disgusting from uber eats , never ordering again from this place.

I have ordered the food through uber eats and the delivery time was too long that I had to wait for mor than 1 and half hours. The app kept showing like wrapping the food. I mean seriously? How long it takes to wrap. The app also shown that the delivery person has been waiting there for so long. It is the worst service ever. Never going to order from here anymore.

Ordered Idli, masala vada, sambhar and onion oothappam. Masala vada is only tolerable food. They definitely don't know how to prepare south indian food. I couldn't even tolerate the smell of onion oothappam. Managed to eat 2 pieces of idli out of 4 pieces and one masala vada out of 3 and had to trash rest of the food. Waste of money. I really feel very bad to write this post.

I ordered two curries directly from this store, which were listed as costing £5.99 each on Uber Eats. However, when I went to collect my order in person, I was charged more than £1 extra per curry without any explanation. It felt like they assumed I wouldn’t notice the price increase. When I questioned them, they promptly corrected the price and charged me the original amount. This experience was frustrating, and I feel the store should be more transparent about pricing. I hope they improve this aspect of their service in the future.

This diner is absolute crap. We ordered our food around 1:30pm and received it at 3:50pm. We called the restaurant to confirm order and they said they had prepared it at 3pm, but delivery guy said he was still waiting for them to hand over the order. Too many miscommunications and they seem very careless. Requested for extra sambar but they haven’t given that too, idli was too sour and there was no chutni. Never ordering from here again.

Worst experience ever!!! We went to Manchester from Liverpool to explore their restaurant as a part of food reviews. We ordered food and they told us to wait in the dining area. We waited for more than 2 hours. We went to check if the food was ready, and we got to know they closed the shop a couple of minutes ago. Businesses should have courtesy to let the customers know if they can’t serve or they are going to close. We would 100% understand this. We have never experienced anything like this before. If I could give a zero I would have.

The biriyani has an authentic taste. It is one of the best biriyanis in Manchester. I order regularly from here. Adequate quantity especially their Family biriyani.

As regular customer I could say now a day's the quantity of food delivered is not worth to the money paid. Won't suggest anymore.

I thought the food was so good that I HAD to leave a review. I decided to order porotta, egg roast and an egg biryani as I was missing home. The egg roast and porotta are fabulous (must try!) and really authentic with the flavours and spice level as well. The biryani was good too but the former dishes stood out to me. It was also packed so well that despite being so far out, my food arrived perfectly hot. The portion sizes are really good too!

The food cooked was so fresh and authentic. We ordered masala dosa and chilli paneer with paratha.. of course the place you sit and eat has a lot of Chinese food smell around but when you eat the food prepared by South Indian Kitchen you feel it's worth it..I would recommend it specifically if you are visiting VFS office from another city..

Too far.. expensive..better to eat in a proper restaurant..this is just central kitchen. No toilet or hand-wash.

There is no dine in. The one in picture is a common dine in shared with lots of ghost kitchens. Consider you are lucky if you get a place to sit here. There is a long queue to get a table. If you want to go around a live maze try locating them. Even if you call them, they don't help with directions.

Ordered thee Chicken Biriyani. The rice was ok but they purposefully kept chicken pieces with little to none meat on all three. Can't possibly be a coincidence. Not worth for the price. Also look the they hygene rating. Its a 3!

We ordered Veg and Non Veg meals. Really good quantity and very tasty. Meals had enough amount of varieties and all tasted good. Will definitely keep ordering here. Update: We recently ordered Kizli Porata and it was absolutely great. Spicy and tasty.

Ordered takeout through Uber eats - got the meal deal for two. Chicken curry really tasty but portion size was tiny. Parotta overcooked and biryani was basically inedible - way too sweet and tasted almost like perfume and only had one chicken leg. Usually love Indian cuisine but had to throw most of this away. Not good.

I got the create your own (large box) and thought the amount of curry you actually got was quite poor. Everything was delicious but value for money wasn't there with this option for me. The food was also a bit cold when it arrived.

I ordered parotta and beef fry.parotta was good.they charged 9.99 for beef and the quantity was not even for one person. Its not worth the price. Wont order again.

The taste was fine but only meals available till 4pm which is not mentioned anywhere. The quantity of sambhar served is too less for the corresponding rice quantities.

It is only a kitchen for a takeaway and not ideally dining. They had only veg and non veg meal option and no other options which were on menu.

Omg just had the Chicken Kizhi Parota. It was amazing... Original taste! Highly recommended...

Disappointed to know that it is only a kitchen and not a restaurant. Food is ok. There is a common place to eat. Tables are not clean. Not weather controlled.

Can be difficult to find the place if you’re visiting the location as there is no indication of the kitchen inside. The building has multiple cloud kitchens inside and there is a common sitting area that is shared by all the kitchens.I wish I could post a better review but we had upset stomach after dining in here. The food overall was okay but the chicken curry served with the meals did not taste right and I’m pretty sure that’s what caused the tummy ache.

I have just ordered this place for takeaway and want to give me 2 cents. Food Portions are good for the most part. Food temp was ok and delivery wasn't too long. I ordered a Biryani special for 1. The Biryani wasn't anything like the image on their site - as you can see it's just plain rice with a small chicken leg and some sauce. There are no crispy onions or fresh coriander/garnish. The Beef curry was ok it tasted nice. The spring Rolls and Samosas were very tasty. I'm not sure what the white sauce was but it was watery - however it tasted nice. The Lime Pickle was spicy but not enough of it. The Paratha were tasty but as you can see in the image they were stuffed into this compartment so completely lost their shape and just crumbled when I tried to take them out. Overall the food was nice, but I am not a big fan of the tray they serve it in, it was like a school or prison tray.

One of the best fresh Indian food houses in the town! Their fish fry and Kerala style kizhi were so delicious in addition, they had a wide veg menu. I am happy about their car dine-in. They're yet to open the proper dine-in looking forward to that may be in 2 weeks 🤔.

Best Home food experience, with authenticate south indian masalas, especially Kizhi parotta, Chicken fry and fish roast are highly recommendable..

Puttu with chicken curry brought back memories from home, veg thali was good. Best was mutton chukka with mouthwatering flavours and so was chilly chicken and chicken gravy. Must try for Kerala / South Indian authentic flavours.

I ordered kizhibiriyani,the rice not cooked properly and quantity wise which is less.porotta and south indian chicken curry was not that much good.Its not worth for the money

Very ordinary food (at least what I ordered), was not even close to the description on the website or on Google. The meals was very average, things were missing from the actual meals that we ordered. The only thing that was Keralan was the mota rice. Parotta was good. Very deceiving photos.

I had ordered a pothichoru and masala vada. Sorry to say It was was not upto mark. Nothing tasted good other than the veg part . Chicken in the set didn't taste fresh. Masala vada was fresh and crispy. It tasted good.

The food was delicious and authentic. Spices and flavors were just like homely taste. Will be visiting more often.

Egg puffs were the starter that we ordered which is very good ... Then we tried beaf kizhiporotta the best combination of porota and beaf gravy,which was out of the world.😋 …..Chicken fried rice is also too good and the taste craves to go again 🏃🏼‍♀️…. We really loved it Definitely worth buying…..

Excellent food. I ordered chicken fried rice and South Indian Meals. I will say that this is the best chicken fried rice I have ever had in Manchester. South Indian meals had lot if varieties and each variety tasted so nice 😋
