Amazing staff. Quirky cocktails. Delicious chacuterie. And pizzas... What's not to love?!

Lovely relaxing atmosphere and good coffee.

The place has a nice welcoming feel about it. Well thought out decor. Had planned a night in their but unfortunately the lack of service at the bar spoilt the evening. Over 20 mins wait for a bottle of beer just isn't right. The lack of staff needs looking at. I can understand the grumpy faces and rudeness of staff when your under pressure like that. But still long queues and rude staff dosen't make for repeat business. I'd recommend going just not on a busy night.

Ordered a vegan breakfast and enjoyed it but felt uneasy about the sausages - they were smokey as stated on the menu but didn’t feel right. I asked about them and was assured by the chef they were the right ones, the girl behind the counter was just as suspicious as I was. After being shown the frozen ones from the kitchen in order to assure me - it was clear they served the wrong ones, they weren’t even the same size.Absolutely appalled.

First visit here and won’t be the last either! What a gorgeous place so cosy and clean, all staff are super efficient, friendly and nothing was a problem.We had a pizza and a nice glass of red which was delicious. This place has a super atmosphere and is a great place for a catch up with friends. Keep doing what your doing because it is working. Great duo combination behind the bar they worked well between themselves and gave off a great welcoming atmosphere. Which I think counts massively in a small place.

The coffee was nice, the place itself was empty only me and my friend in there.. we would probably have eaten if it had been busier but decided to go elsewhere

We called in here on the final morning of our holidays. We were initially greeted by a very helpful member of staff who offered to fetch a high chair for our little boy. My husband and I both ordered a full English breakfast, which was really tasty. When we had nearly finished eating our five month old son started to get a bit fractious - another lovely member of staff brought him some toys to calm him down. We would definitely recommend this beautiful coffee shop; both for its delicious food and fantastic service.

Great place for a coffee or lunch great staff

Good Vegetarian food at reasonable prices. Vegetarian breakfast with halloumi was really delicious. Also has a bar depending on what time of day your visiting.

This place is a cafe by day doing children’s crafts and great food, candlelit cocktails by night and even secret cinema clubs. Visited with my children, husband and even attended a hen night here with friends. The staff are so lovely and helpful and they do a gorgous pizza here too. Would highly recommend!

We visited this bar on Tuesday evening. Lovely staff great atmosphere and very good food. Although not big the pizza is lovely well worth a visit.

The place was empty when we arrived with 3 members of staff milling about. We were directed to our table we checked out the menu chose what we wanted to eat then waited for our order to be taken, we had to ask if we needed to order at the bar we were told yes but they would take the order at the table. We had the pizza offer, pizza & cocktail or wine for £11.95, the pizzas were really quite small fortunately we had ordered a couple of sides,one of the pizzas was almost black on the bottom granted it was taken off the bill, well £5.00 was taken off. This is an expensive place charging £5.75 for a 175ml glass of wine, there is little atmosphere in the place likely because there aren’t any customers and the staff on when we were in weren’t the friendliest. We won’t be going back

Great cosy eaterie and live music venue. Lovely cocktails and unusual pizzas. Enjoyed a great evening of live music last night whilst dining on yummy green olive, caper and lemon pizza.

It is a very nice place well worth a visit when you are next in Guisborough

lovely bar with excellent variety of drinks and great friendly staff. The menu looked good and appeared good though we did not eat but will do next time. Atmosphere was really good

I came here for a drink and A bite to eat lovely deco and looked cosy so I went in staff nice but coffee was cold and so was my food wasn’t impressed left my food won’t return

Attended a family party, lovely place

We had the Mother's Day afternoon tea. Was all lovely. Really good quality and everything home made. The food in general is always lovely. The cafe itself is really beautiful and cosy. Lots of cool bits around, great for a Instagram photo : )

Relaxed atmosphere and great food

Pizza was really good the place was welcoming friendly staff great drink selection. Really liked the upcyled interior and the passionate attitude of the deputy, we'll be back!

Me and my partner initially went here for cocktails on a Friday evening, and the staff were very friendly and suggested places to visit in/around Guisborough. We enjoyed it so much, we went back the following evening for Pizza and more Cocktails!Again the staff were lovely, as were the cocktails, food and music!

Little bit over priced.compared to other local places, table we sat at was a bit stcky not the cleanest

We don't live close, but when we visit we make sure to go here! Lovely staff and service, amazing food and drinks. Calming and welcoming atmosphere and so child friendly! Had books and you available for my toddler to make our visit that but more special.

A friendly venue with a fairly good menu. Also does a monthly film and food night which books up quickly. Good, local eateries are worth visiting and are generally far superior to the host of chain pubs and restaurants which unfortunately proliferate...

Nice food, good drinks and friendly staff

We booked a table to have a pizza early one evening. They were freshly cooked and very tasty as were the fries we ordered to share. Personally, I would prefer a proper plate rather than a paper one. There was a good atmosphere in the place.

This quaint little place is perfect for lunch. Quality food, friendly local staff and great welcome make this place somewhere that merits constant revisiting

Having seen how packed the sitting room was in a Friday night (since learnt it was a themed night!) we decided to try it out on the Saturday morning for brunch. We ordered the smoked bacon pitta (about £4), and 3 tapas style dishes - halloumi, hummous and chicken (3 for £10) to share. All were really tasty and were generous portions. Wish we would have visited again to try the lunch menu and cocktail selection.

We really love the music nights at this bar, been to three now, all excellent up and coming singer/songwriters. The bar has a great ambiance and lovely food and cocktails. Can’t wait for the next one

Always love a trip to the sitting room! The pizzas are amazing and the range of drinks is fabulous! There is always different events happening to suit all ages and staff are very accommodating and it is a lovely setting for couples, families and friends! Would defiantly recommend it!

Been here twice now.. first for food during the day..nice relaxed atmosphere, and food was delicious. Good choice for vegetarians too. Second time was an evening. It was v.busy but it wasnt a problem for the staff. We didnt have to wait long for a drink, and they brought drinks to the table..good selection of cocktails and beers. Great bar, i can see me going there often. Staff brilliant.

After much excitement over it opening we left it a while before going on our first visit we were mortified that after ordering 2 cocktails we waited over 25 minutes for them (not hard cocktails to make) there was only 8 customers sat in the place with 4 staff on we complained over the time - and offered a refund.

Popped in after work for the first time, the food was lovely, enjoyed a cocktail sat outside in the sun.

Went for lunch with friends. Mismatched chairs, some not very comfortable, doors kept being left open even though day was windy and not very warm. Food was OK though the lovely chips they used to serve were replaced by thin fries. Service slow. Unlikely to return.

Popped in for a few cocktails, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. A nice place for grown ups. Cocktails were also very nice. My old fashioned was very tasty and the wife loved her cocktail as you can see in the pic.

What a gorgeous and friendly little place to take your family. We have been several times now and every time we have been made to feel extremely welcome. We have an 8 year old daughter and it’s often difficult to find places where she is as welcome.

We called in for coffee prior to meeting friends for a meal elswehere. We wished we had booked here and we definitely will next time. The staff are warm & friendly and the ambiance is really nice.

I have been twice now and both times I had the gingerbread hot chocolate which is to die for! First time I had chocolate cake which was great and second a pear and hazelnut crumble which was delicious.

Called in with my friend and was delighted. I had whatever they call a small plate of kofta with dip and side salad, my friend had a spicy chicken wrap, the biggest wrap I'd ever seen and we both had a portion of chips. We were offered a variety of infused salts to go with them. I had paprika salt and Julia had Rosemary Salt. Place is quirky so be prepared. Main came on proper plate but chips arrived in cardboard dish, brilliant idea! . Unfortunately for me the knives and forks were made of a thin type of wood (disposable) which would not have been a problem but I am unable to handle them as I don't like bare wood on my hands or near my mouth ( phobia). Lovely pot of tea for one with 2 tea bags. Julia had a flavoured tonic. Great service , great value for money, will definitely call again but will bring my own cutlery.

We've been a few times since The Sitting Room opened for different reasons (date night/out with friends, etc.) and my wife and me love it. The food is great from sharing platters to home cooked pizzas and the variety of bottled beers and craft ales is a refreshing change from pubs. The cocktails are also great. We've never had a problem with service and all of the staff are great. We're looking forward to going back soon!

I was quite excited about this place opening having watched their progress whilst building.

Having visited the Saltburn 'branch' of The Sitting Room for a delicious almond milk hot chocolate from time to time, hubster and I felt compelled to try the new place in Guisborough. It certainly looks the part, with a very relaxed, rustic feel. The cobbled brick counter/bar is a particularly nice feature, and the lighting creates a warm ambient welcome. A previous reviewer states the lighting as a negative, but as someone who wants to be cooler indoors when eating, and out of the harsh sun, particularly today when it hit a nice toasty temperature, I was very pleased it was lit the way it was.

We'd been looking forward to visiting here so decided to drop in for lunch. We both opted for a toastie with fries. The fries were fine but the toasties were small and the accompanying side salad minimal to say the least. The worst thing, however, was the small wooden cutlery which was absolutely pointless as it was impossible to cut with the knife or pick up with the fork! There are numerous great places to have lunch in Guisborough so if The Sitting Room wants to be included in the list they will have to up their game. It's also very dark and dingy inside which may be ok for an evening drink but not a lovely sunny day.
