A great Inn. Really welcoming and helpful team, really good decor, food and excellent choice of beer. My room was quite small but perfectly formed. Breakfast was brilliant, eggs royal...highly recommend the winter deals. Amazing value.

Floor staff did their best but food was cold, muddled up and took a long time to come. Possibly short staffed when we were there?

We stopped here for a couple of nights. The rooms are detached from the pub, which in practice should make it quieter, but unfortunately, the floorboards are incredibly squeaky, so if you're on the ground floor, you'll hear every movement above you. The heating is also hard to control, this led to our rooms being too hot overnight. This combined with the noise meant we got very little sleep. Shame as everything else was great, friendly staff, good food and selection of drinks and in a nice location. Just let down by the room.

Be aware that there could be a lengthy wait for food when it's busy or a Bank holiday. Apart from the wait everything was perfect. The home made chips are outstanding

Meet with friends - food awful. Small plate fish and chips anemic. Not crisp and fish like mush and served up-side down. Chips undercooked. Will not be revisiting - mentioned to staff and no acknowledgement of complaint. We love many Inncollection hotels - BS Helmsley for example is fantastic but won't be back here.

Unfortunately this was the worst experience and review I have given I had been recommending to visit I ordered 3 starters prawns which I will say were very nice fish cake average and chicken wings terrible more bone than meat. I was disappointed that after we I had finished finished eating and the establishment was only a quarter full the waiting staff female that had severed us walked past twice not takeout finished plates nor asking if our food was ok. I never leave a poor review but this experience has definitely given me a negative impression of The Kings Head.

Food is outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked, best sauces I've ever tasted. Sure it's not cheap but then for this amount of flavour you wouldn't expect it to be. Could have eaten it twice and yes, I'd love a bigger portion but I just can't fault the flavour and how it was cooked. The staff were friendly and professional. The Kings head is situated in the shadow of Rosebery Topping so the scenery is just amazing. Go for a walk, then stop by the Kings Head for some spectacular grub. Breakfast is served from 07.00 every day of the week up until 11.00am. The full English is just the thing to refuel after an early morning hill side stroll. Highly recommend it.

First and last time I'll be visiting. £20 for the worst hot shot parmo I've ever had. Greasy battered chicken not even 1cm thick and tiny. Everyone I've spoken to said they used to be great, what happened?!

Called in after a warm 7 mile circular around roseberry topping and captain cooks monument, mrs ordered chicken skewers which came with a side of proper chips, I went for the roast beef sandwich with proper chips and a little jug of gravy, both were spot on, definitely worth a visit.

First visit in a long time went for Dinner 7.30pm. If you are a vegetarian you will really struggle, very minimum option. The waiter was very attentive.

Convenient stopover for Cleveland Way hikers. The pub is situated directly on the A173, with some rooms facing the busy noisy road. Paid £160 per night, for a mediocre stay. The food is acceptable, and the place caters well to walkers.

Everything was top notch. The service, our room and the cleanliness was second to none. It must be said that the wi-fi was nonexistent and the phone signal spasmodic. I understand that moves are afoot to solve the problem.

It’s a wonderful little pub that’s right beside Roseberry Topping. Went after a walk to get some food and it was absolutely delicious, both presentation & the taste was amazing. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are super polite. Everyone who goes for a walk around that area should always visit this place right after to unwind. :)

Nothing wrong with the place but food and drink prices a bit steep for what they offered and rooms a bit small given their price. Pleasant and personable team but a bit haphazard in approach. Weather during visit was poor so didn't get to explore the area as we had planned

Rooms are great, the staff are great. It's a really nice place to stay, the food is cracking, just go in hungry if you plan on ordering the Parmo . Special mention have to be made to Evie and Bobby, leading a team that make everyone (and "man's best friend") welcome. Can't recommend highly enough

Visited here on good Friday. Food was terrible and for the price really was not worth it. So disappointed as last time we visited it was lovely. Won't be coming back.

We love the area and this place is a fantastic location if you're into walking. We stayed one night and the room was satisfactory, full breakfast was really nice and you can help yourself to as much tea, coffee, toast as you want, staff also welcoming. Only issue we had was the price of everything. Just a tad too expensive for what you get, in the evening we both had mussels and although tasty were absolutely tiny, almost more like cockles. My wife had the partridge satay skewers starter which tasted more of chicken, not much different to the ones you buy in a supermarket. Hope things improve. Not sure I'll return apart from the odd pint until there's the odd change.

Liz we went here today lovely clean restaurant staff friendly and helpful, the food was lovely all four of us enjoyed all our meals ,if any complaint would be the prawn starter although the best prawns I've had for a long time you only got 3 for £12 and a piece of non buttered french bread we did voice this and were offered desserts as an apology which we didn't want the owner was sorry and said it was the size they were told to serve and they'd had a few complaints We would definitely go again .

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The pub is lovely, well furnished, decorated and very clean. It’s on the expensive side £4.95 for a pint of Theakstons compared to £3.90 in my local. They definitely weren’t the best pints either (photo attached). Lunch portions were generous, however, the food was average at best. Perhaps caught them on a bad day. Cracking location after having a walk up Roseberry Top. Dog was very welcome which is always good.

I had a lunchtime meal with some relatives here. The pub has a cosy atmosphere and has plenty of room for guests. The food was tasty and the service was good. The King's Head is popular with walkers as it's situated near Roseberry Topping and you can join a footpath leading from the premises. It's a nice place and family-friendly.

I came years ago, and it was a nice place. Therefore, I suggested it when I had friends and family up after Christmas. We waited for one and a half hours for food to come out and was told of 'no wait'. We went up and asked 3x, and the food came out at different times and they even still managed to forget one of our orders. No apology was given, and portions were small. As this was between Christmas and New Year, I chose to believe that this may have been a one-off. It was not. We went back in today, and I asked specifically at the bar, "Is there a wait for food?" "No" (it was quieter than my last visit, so I was happy). I ordered the £17.50 Large Chicken parmo, with thick cut chips and salad, and a £16 Chicken Tandoori curry, rice, and Roti We waited 50 minutes (with a walk to the bar to ask where ours was, and to see tables who ordered after us get their food). When it arrived, there was no apology (again), and the parmo had frozen fries on the plate. It's cheaper and nicer getting it from a fast food takeaway. My curry was annoyingly nice. However, I wouldn't say 4 or 5 small bits of chicken in curry sauce is a "Main". It was very disappointing overall.

We have used Taste of China for years always excellent. However, a month ago we had a very poor meal, chow mein bulked out with disproportionate amounts of carrot and swede, OK ribs that were at best chewy at worst tough. So we have given them a miss for a while. Tonight we decided to try them again and give them the benefit of doubt, so we ordered our meal through the very friendly and efficient lady on the phone, stipulating 20 30 hrs for delivery, she advised it may be later and we were happy. 20 minutes after placing order and an hour early 1930 it was delivered, we refused it. Not good and its a shame!!
