The Silly Goose at The Lime Tree in Highland

We booked here as we were staying in the B&B & doing some research online I was struggling to find anywhere that we fancied in Fort William. I loved the free warm bread & cold water. Lot's of choice of drinks & a small fresh food menu- perfect! The food was tasty but small ish portions, we were a bit disappointed with the apple crumble for the price but overall had a lovely meal.

Lovely restaurant with delicious food and excellent wine. Only slight concern was attention to detail from waiting staff. We were asked when booking if there were any dietary requirements and we informed them that one of us was gluten free. Upon arrival my mum quickly realised that the chair she was sitting on had an unstable leg. Shortly afterwards she asked the blonde waitress if she could possibly have another chair. No chair arrived. She did bring us a basket of delicious bread with oil and balsamic. This was great however it was immediately apparent that there was no gluten free bread. My mum then asked the dark haired waitress for a different chair. She immediately went to get one and also seemed to realise that there was no gluten free bread on the table and asked if we would like some. Unfortunately this made for a slightly uncomfortable start to our meal. Luckily, neither of us were celiac.

Don't normally do this as I read far too many negative reviews and, tbh, wonder why some folk bother. I would stay and eat here again in a heartbeat. Excellent food, the scrambled eggs is probably the best I've ever had (& I've had plenty), but the overall experience of staying at eating at LT is beyond words.

Absolutely loved our intimate wedding meal here. The food was sublime and the service was welcoming and attentive. We appreciate the communication leading up to the day and efforts made to help it run smoothly. I recommend the steak which was cooked to perfection and the blonde chocolate dome. All full of flavour! Thank you so much.

Excellent food, delicious, carefully presented, fresh and unique ideas. Charming, considerate staff. Altogether HIGHLY recommended.

Ate here while we were staying in the attached accomodation. Meals were very good and service was excellent and meals came quickly. Had the sea trout with mussels which was very tasty. Needed a booking as I think they were down on space due to renovations.

Four of us booked for dinner and all had a great night. The restaurant was under renovations which was a little surprising but it did not compromise the great service and good food. All the staff were warm and friendly from reception to departure. The food was local and fresh and everything on the menu looked great - hard to choose. All of our meals were good - steaks were perfectly cooked, fish and vegetables fresh and not over cooked. The restaurant was quiet, allowing us to enjoy each other’s company and we were not rushed. All in all, a good night out at a great little restaurant. Highly recommend if you are in Fort William.

Great food. Lovely staff. Was not aware of this restaurant having been in Fort William many time. Definitely recommended if you are in the town. One of the best meals we’ve ever had in the highlands.

Starters were delicious, mains, beef cheeks and medium rare steak both done to perfection. However, potatoes with beef cheeks dry and solid, chips with steak excessively salty. Then to the service, polite, but far from organised, pre meal we were left unattended while later arrived tables were served drinks. No menu supplied to peruse, I did ask. Mediocre table service and lengthy wait for bill payment. I really wanted to enjoy this experience, but came away somewhat disappointed and very, very thirsty!
