First visit. Really nice. Great service. Lots of Parmo choices if that's your thing, but the rest of the menu has food that is a lot better than you would expect from the very reasonable prices. See you again soon.

Lovely place in a lovely area, we didn't go for the parmo's, you can get a parmo at anytime also, I don't know why it's called the ship, it's miles away from the sea 🤷

So good I came back the next night! I visited on a business meal out and was that impressed at how good the parmo was I brought my family back the next night for a birthday meal out. Probably be back again next week too 😂 Update, keep coming back here every few months, one of our favourite places, can't beat the parmo range but the other meals are really good to. 10 out of 10 recommended

I called in for lunch with my son. We both had the fish & chips. Decent portions cooked well. Nice selection of desserts, too.

So disappointed with the food and service today! I have visited many times in the past and it’s just gone down hill dramatically over the past few visits. The Sunday roast was absolutely terrible today, the meat was hard and dry. Roasties and Yorkshire puddings awful. Extremely overpriced for what we received. I tried to complain multiple times to 3 different members of staff without even an apology, the supervisor was extremely rude and uninterested in my complaint, noting was offered! Very disappointed ☹️

just been seated at 18:30 and giving parmo menus and Sunday menus to get told after 30mins of us sat there looking at menus and chatting, they came over and told us they had no chicken parmos but waited till we got drinks before there told us what a joke, just wasted time going there. as I cant put a reply to you i am adding to my review your management is lieing to you as we didn't even stay and eat with you we left before ordering food so think you should look into the lies there are telling you awell

Food was ok nothing spectacular price was a little more than I would normally pay for a parmo. Service was slow not what you need when you have kids with you.

Visited here as seen some online things around their Parmos. It was very busy when we arrived so would recommend booking on a Friday and Saturday personally. The menu, wow, parmos around the world. Very unique and would definitely recommend. Loads of options to choose from.

My wife and I together with another couple went to the ship last week. The service was great, prompt, tentative, very friendly. We all ordered from the Parmo menu and weren’t disappointed at all. I chose the mixed plater hot shot chicken parmos, it was one of the best meals I’ve had ever. We will absolutely return. 10/10. Well done to The staff at The Ship. 👍🏼

Visited today and we had a beautiful Sunday dinner, staff were very attentive and the portion sizes are huge! Dog friendly, which my little pooch enjoyed! Highly recommend and can't wait to return!

I visited the Ship on the 22/09/24, I was served by Georgia (blonde hair, tied back in a ponytail) and all I can say was how excellent she made the experience. She was very attentive and friendly and made our time in the pub very enjoyable! Food wise, I ordered the Dirty Deep South and my husband, the beef Sunday roast. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality for a standard pub. We shall definitely be returning! Thank you

I have always wanted to eat here since I moved to Teesside after hearing my friends and family rave about the place. I'm so glad I did! My partner and I enjoyed a cosy dinner here one Tuesday evening. It was busy but they still found us a table. We were served promptly by friendly staff, and our food arrived in good time. We both had burgers, which were delicious and very filling, and I loved the chips with skins on. The only issue I had was I'd have liked a bit more sauce on my bun as it was quite dry. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience, and the food was worth the money but only as an occasional treat.

We called in for lunch after trailing round trying to find somewhere to eat that was dog friendly, we'd just returned from a trip away in our campervan,, this was a Sunday and the place was very busy. We got seated near the door, ordered a drink, and checked out the menu!. we would have had sun lunch but at £20 plus, thought a tad expensive 🫤, so went for a parmo instead. Food arrived, looked nice enough, so ordered 2 large glasses of wine, so glad it was white!! had only had a mouthful of food when wine arrived, young lass balancing 2 glasses of wine on a tiny tray, desaster waiting to happen, she stood there and managed to tip 2 lge glasses of wine all over me, my food, the chair etc. I stood up sharpish and everyone looked, very imbaracing, I was soaked literally, glass smashed everywhere, she quickly vanished, our food was whisked away under our noses, I got a quick sorry about that from a dark haired girl, and that was it! I know accidents happen but 🙄 I was left dripping, asked for a towel or cloth, but no nothing, I had to leave and went and changed in the carpark in our campervan😳 if we weren't in that I don't know what I'd have done, when I returned the manager in charge was there sweeping up the glass which had gone under everyone's tables and we'd been put on another table,, he never apologised, nothing!! 😠 we received another wine and our food was replaced,, but we'd ordered sides which they didn't replace, and my parmo I'm sure wasn't the one I'd ordered, but I couldn't be bothered by then. They gave us the bill, £69 😲, I'd had my clothes ruined, made to look stupid, they'd charged us for the sides we never got,, the food was nice but way over priced for what you get, and the bill had 10% service charge, no customer service what soever,, a joke really🙄 they could have at least not changed us for the wine, to compensate But No,, nothing, not even a sorry!! even other customers said to us you should not have to pay, hence I won't be returning or recommending them!! Shame because it use tobe a nice pub..

We stopped by The Ship as uts somewhere my partner has wanted to eat at for years, and it didn't disappoint. We both went for a burger, and these things are like stacked 3 course meals. Tender hot & tasty and very filling, along with some loaded hash browns. It was certainly something new and we do recommend the place, but it is quite pricey and definitely not your average regular pub lunch. It was lovely for the 1 time visit which is where we'll leave it. Recommended for excellent food & attentive staff.

Service right from the start was fabulous. We didn't have a reservation as we were on holiday and just popped in. The food was fabulous and piping hot. Would definitely recommend.

Food is amazing. from the size to the variety and the quality of the parmesana it's a 10/10. The service was slow, mostly due to how busy it was. But it wasn't rude or poor. The atmosphere was fine, but due to it being the kids holidays there was a few running around and screaming. Over all very good and booking is a must.

Lovely food and good potion sizes. Friendly staff, service a little slow, but it was busy at the time. No mocktails on drink menu, nice decor and atmosphere. Kids colouring and puzzle on kids menu with crayons, though we had to ask for it. Could do with something in the garden area for kids.

Lovely food but abysmal service, soooo slow and forgotten parts of the drinks order, table partially cleared after the 1st course then forgot about again when reminded for the 2nd time they took the dessert order, unfortunatly the service has put me off ever going back, shame, but there are plenty of other places.

I've been to the ship many many times but yesterday we fancied a change from a parmo so ordered fish and chips and a steak pie in the garden.This was the worst bar food I've ever been served and it isn't cheap either! pie was dry and meat was tough and the fish was soggy and hardly any fish in it,don't get me started on the chips which were beyond bad soggy greasy offering.The wine and prosecco are £8 and £10 a medium glass before they add 10% on all of it for"service".The manager wasn't interested with complaint saying we had eaten it before seeing her which we hadnt.Lost a regular customer.Very very overpriced place now.AVOID until they get a chef

It was Sunday so only Sun lunch & parmos available, food was OK but food & drinks very expensive & added 10%service charge which you don't have time to see because you pay @ bar not bring bill to table!

Had a mixed experience yesterday evening. The Parmo was really nice and probably on par with the Merlin. A few issues though that over shadowed our evening. The glasses were dirty, my friend found something in the bottom of his glass. The chips were not cooked, quite raw and the desert the brownie on the menu said chocolate orange ice-cream but instead came with toffee ice-cream. We were not notified about this change. One last point is the need more support at the bar. There was 1 guy he was really nice but he was so busy trying to deal with everything. A bit more attention to customers at the bar would be my recommendation.

We ordered drinks and the server wasn't sure what was on the menu or what we were asking for. We believe he was new and didn't know the drink menu, when I asked about orange juice he replied I don't know what orange we have. When the drinks arrived a different man rushed over saying "I'll just put them there (at the end of the table)" while he ran back to the bar. We looked at each other thinking is there a rush for something that was a bit unusual" Then he came back and quickly put the drinks down on the edge of the table and walked off. Maybe it's just us, but usually the waiter would bring your drink to you saying I have a Diet Coke ect... and place it down in front of you. After waiting a long time for someone to take our food order, we noticed people who'd come in after us, had there orders taken and food arrived before us. We waited over 1 hour and decided to ask how long our food would be. The food came out and the meals tasted nice. However we weren't given any cutlery, so we went back up and got cutlery from someone. Then when the vegetables came out for the Sunday dinner there wasn't any spoons for the mash/ cauliflower ect..We visited late on a Sunday afternoon so there wasn't many people around us, which is why we were a bit shocked that the service was so bad. They took £8 of the bill for the inconvenience and apologised, but we had spent nearly £100. Due to trying it for the first time and having such a bad experience I don't think we would visit again.

Went there for a late lunch and had Silk Road parmo and bree parmo. Both were absolutely delicious perhaps one of the best parmo I have ever had. Food portions are generous, I struggled to finish my regular parmo and perhaps should have ordered a small rather than regular. There are a lot on the menu for vegetarians. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The pub is dog friendly but the dedicated space is bit tight sober decided to stay in the beer garden. The outside tables are set in a lovely garden and have covered beer green area. There is plenty of parking space and it’s free for patrons. I would definitely go back.

Parmo specialists and good at it I had the bacon de Brie and the dci had the Tennessee while Ellie went for the Whicker man all excellent Jojo picked the chicken shawarma which was really just a chicken skewer but tasty bill was £120 with a round of drinks so not for everyday dinning

Am afraid to say, very expensive though. Almost £10 for a starter that would probably cost £6 elsewhere, considering there were just two of us, and they added £6 service charge.

Food really is nice if you are after a parmo and have visited several times, but the pricing really has become ridiculous, and I do not begrudge spending money on a quality meal. Have seen a few replies on here from the business speaking to their prices and frankly being quite dismissive to their customers. Ordered 2 small Parmesan’s (one with chorizo on top another with bacon and brie). They were good, but they cost us £38.50 with a garlic dip on the side. Inflation is one thing but having been fortunate to continue to dine out through the recent cost of living crisis, this cannot be a justifiable cost for a a chicken breast dinner… and £6 for a lager shandy. Others have addressed the service charge and been dismissed, but will reiterate that a 10% service charge was added to our bill (a table of two who found their own seat outside, carried their own drinks and cutlery to the table…) so do be aware of this when it comes time to settle up.

Went here on Saturday afternoon Food was OK had parmos, asked for garlic which is usually free but not here it's £1per small tub, We were charged £87, for 3 people and after we left I checked bill and discovered an (optional service charge had been added which was a surprise to us, apparently it's on the menus well it must be in small writing and nobody let us know this would be added So I class this as theft but have now received a message saying I can have it refunded, Well how about not adding it to start with, The food is OK but I would not of paid a service charge it was expensive enough, I have now read reviews and I see lots of other people mentioned this and their surprise, So clearly it is not easy to see on menu s and neither is anyone informing people, We won't go in again and I'm sure this pub will be losing plenty of customers

Popped in for a bite to eat late afternoon. The restaurant was fully booked, but there were free tables in the garden. We both went for Parmo dishes. They were tasty and hot. Well, it's worth a visit if you're in the Redmarshall area.

I came hear because a few work friends had said it was lovely and really nice so thought I’d give it a go for my 40th. Me my wife and son all got 3 different parmos 2 were ok so my family said but mine the chicken was so thin I was gutted. It all tasted ok but when you pay so much for something like that you wouldn’t expect a really thin but off chicken Brest. Would not recommend going hear my self for the price off it get your self to the jolly sailor on the moor roads. Or fox covet well better value for money for your food

Visited with friends, we booked a table ahead of time, but were able to get seats for 5 the same day which was great for the short notice. There's a huge selection of parmos to choose from, in the end we'd gone for classics, but I've also had a mac and cheese topped one before which was very nice.

We've been here multiple times and perfect every time, it has to be the best place if you like to eat out... Big thank you to all that works there

Food was overpriced , undersized and ratherly not that tasty. Charging extra for garlic also when similar establishments charge nothing .

Delicious parmos, great staff. Only slight moan is that the prices are a little misleading with the asterisks next to certain ones,easy to miss...buuuut, it's a minor thing... Worth a visit.

I had high hopes for the Ship, but I was left disappointed. The staff failed to follow simple instructions, neglecting to spice up the base as requested, which was a major letdown. Although the atmosphere was pleasant, it wasn't enough to compensate for the subpar food and service errors. Overall, the experience didn't meet my standards, and I struggle to recommend it. Edit: to respond to your reply, I did not pretend to know the owner - I am unsure as to where that has come from. - and your "talented waitress" said so herself she put through to the chef to spice up the base - they did not listen. If I could, I would rate this spot even lower due to your response, instead of taking ownership, you are defecting! Please learn to take criticism, as a business it's pivotal that you improve! P.S. yes, I do eat out at parmo restaraunts and this is by far the worst (in terms of taste), what I ordered anyway. Also, the prices have increased and they have not updated their menus - so I was actually charged extra at the till, which was a surprise but paid it nonetheless as I just wanted to leave. Bill came to around £60 Thank you :)

We visited a few weeks ago for parmo and got the deluxe platter. Wow what an incredible dinner. We will be back!!

Lovely pub staff and food great

I don't have a problem with the service or the atmosphere as they where both brilliant however, I got the peppercorn chicken thinking it would come with a nice juicey, chicken brest and thick peppercorn sauce and this didn't happen!!!! What came out was absolutely not worth 19 pound, 5 little what looked like middles from chicken gusons, a few sad looking vegetables and a tiny pot of chips! to make it worse the sauce wasn't even a sauce, it was a puddle of what can only be described as dirty dish water as it was flavourless.

Called in on a spur of the moment, wasn't disappointed at all. The food was excellent, as usual. Great service, too.

Took my partner out for tea. Food was great but 2 parmos and 2 lemonades and lime and 1 dessert should not be £60. Absolutely extortionate.

I’d heard a lot of good things about The Ship before we visited and it certainly didn’t disappoint. In my 12 years of being a vegetarian I have never been able to find a veggie Parmo. Tonight I had my first ever Quorn based veggie Parmo and it was absolutely delicious! The Ship have a wide selection of Parmos both with meat and without, no one is left out here! Great place with a great atmosphere and great food. We’ll definitely be back!

Lovely parmo and good service, only thing letting it down is the salad, only lettuce and no tomato/cucumber. Also started putting 10% service charge on which I think is wrong. I always leave a tip for good service but putting on bill is all wrong.

First time been and it's famous for its 45 different chicken parmasans and o-boy they didn't dissapoint food is fantastic well worth the visit..

Gave this place yet another chance, but unfortunately nothing has improved. Service still very slow and food average and overpriced. They even argued that the small gluten free parmesan that was served when one of our party had ordered a medium sized one had in fact shrunk when cooked due to being gluten free. I would suggest a new chef and that this place is given a radical overhaul!

I absolutely love this place. The food is always 10/10 and well worth a visit. It is on the pricey side which I completely justify when it comes to the food. However slight downer that you have to pay for takeaway boxes for left overs. (ONLY 50p so it isn't the end of the world) Aside from that I highly recommend it.

We ordered food for takeout and were overcharged for the food. If you search for The Ship Takeout the menu shown on their website is a large parmo for £12. We expected the cost to come to £40 approx, however on pickup they charged us £70 due to the costs increasing. They wouldn't excuse us the price difference even after admitting that incorrect information was online. For the takeout we received it was not worth the additional cost and we know not to go back again.

According to social media this place was a must try. Unfortunately it didn't meet our expectations. The Ultra Parmo platter looked nothing like the photos they post and the chips were surprisingly disappointing. It is good they have a gluten free offering for my partner but she was also a bit disappointed by what was served. Service was quite slow given it wasn't a particularly busy time and the seating felt cramped throughout. We were sat at the back after booking and saw a member of staff carry their little black pug dog through the door to the kitchen... Not something you would usually see when eating out. Prices seemed high also. Can't recommend this place

Had an all right meal albeit expensive for a lunchtime. My gripe is we left a cash tip as we're paying by card only to find 10% had been added to bill without us agreeing or at least being informed. Sorry but they should not be allowed to do this, so they ended up with 22% tip. Be warned and aware.

Very pleasant place to eat. Not too crammed in. Relaxed atmosphere. Food is brilliant. If you want a parmo I suggest you try here.

Sat at our table for 40 minutes before I went to the bar myself and asked for drinks. Bar then confirmed it was table service. Sat inside for over an hour and 10 minutes before food came to table. Only had one drink during the whole 2 1/2 hours we were there as we weren’t offered any further drinks. I couldn’t be bothered chasing them again. Food was very nice once it finally arrived. Young staff waiting tables need additional training.

As you can see from many of the reviews on here, the food is decent, the service wasn’t, and it just leaves a stale taste when they’re leaving a 10% tip on the bill. A few examples, one of our forks had literally been used by a previous diner. They took it and didn’t replace it, we asked what was on draught, the response was “Coors, San Miguel, I’m not sure what else, beers confuse me”. The food took a while to arrive but when it did it was decent, as far as parmos go they’re great. But the whole place was just let down by staff.

Anyone who knows me know that I love my parmo’s ….. me and my better half came here for Mother’s Day munchies and we loved it ….. definitely be back. Thankyou guys & gals !! 👍👍😄😄

Saturday afternoon, pub was busy but we’d booked a table, ordered drinks, no problem, they arrived fairly quickly. We ordered our food 20 minutes after sitting down and it was almost an hour before the food arrived then my wifes meal, Tandoori King Prawns wasn’t actually served in tandoori sauce but more like a salsa sauce, i said I’d send it back but my wife was so hungry she ate it anyway. My food was okay as were the other meals we were served but the waiting time for your food is unacceptable. My sister and family had a meal in there on Saturday evening and she said the waiting time for food was again almost an hour after ordering. Not good enough, won’t be going back.

Very nice and well set out pleasant place good selection of wines and beers. Also very good menu I had Gammon with 2 fried eggs salad and chips. My son parmo with chips veg both meal excellent and good value for money. Good menu selection and well worth a second visit.

Excellent range of parmos available, very tasty

The service from the staff was amazing from start to finish. The food was absolutely lovely. I had the duo of pork, which was not dry melted in the mouth with veg that was delicious and the black pudding was tasty. My husband had the fish and chips, which was huge. The fish was lovely and crispy, and the chips were fluffy. All in all, it's a lovely meal, and we will definitely be returning

Birthday surprise and was surpassed by the food and the service.

This was our second time visiting with friends. We were taken to our table when we arrived, my husband had to wipe the table down as it was dirty . Drinks order was taken our friends asked for no ice in their drinks , then they came with ice , so they did take them away and removed the ice for them. They took our food order , there was a delay in the food but that was fine because we had great company (our friends) . The food is nice but my husband would haven't his food again because he said for what he had he didn't justify the price. We asked if we could split the bill as we were paying separately to our friends but they said they cannot do that , which is odd because other places do it . I think things could be improved on the niggling things like the cleaning of the table and the service etc.

Food was good. But thoroughly spoilt by waiting an excessive time for our preorder, despite being told we HAD to be on time. Noone asked if things were ok with food at any point. We got charged for sauce!!! We were then hurried out of our seats despite having only just finished mains. Very poor customer service

Booked a table for two, no hassle, weather was good so could sit outside in the garden, service was spot on and the food was fantastic, fresh, tasty and plenty of it. Would highly recommend 👍🏻

Booked a table for my daughters birthday and were turned away, claiming our booking was wrong, and was for 7 pm not 6.pm This however isn't true as I clearly remember booking for this time. So our table was given away. Really poor customer service.

Sausage party parmo and mace parmo are gorgeous! Garlic mayo is gorgeous. It's best of parmo I had ate. I and friend sit next fire place which it was warm and good vibs. Price is reasonable. I definitely return for other parmo I will try but I wish they can provide five mini parmo I choice not their choice.

Had a great meal in the run up to Christmas. Stuck to their normal menu and thoroughly enjoyed the meal - chicken shawarma. Would I eat the same again, yes! Nicely kept pub, pleasant staff too.

Good food however the waiters attitude wasn't really the best in my opinion. Got us in quickly after not realising how busy it can get so was upsetting to find the service could of been a lot better. Bar staff were lovely. Prawns were the best I've ever eaten, parmo amazing too! Amazing selection

Brought my wife here for her birthday and this place did not have her favorite southern comfort. Very disappointed, no real decent cocktails so she ended up with water. Spoilt the evening. Puts us off coming again.

Always a great meal. Staff are always helpful and welcoming..if you are looking for a restaurant quality parmo here is the place.

Walked in the door and instantly got hit by the presents of a cold restaurant, staff are rude, and untrained “they are young”, they aslo serve drinks in the wrong glasses (Guinness) Compliment to the chefs mind, food was unreal Won’t be returning for a while

Only went in for a drink, first visit too and we were welcomed but told there were only seats at the bar which was fine but within 5 minutes the gentleman who welcomed us at the door came and told us he would get a table. Great choice of drinks, reasonable prices too. We didn't eat but the food that was coming out looked really good so we'll definitely be back to try it! I'm in a wheelchair and it's fully accessible with a ramp outside, there's a disabled toilet just in the entrance and it's all level inside too. Thanks again for making us feel welcome.

Had to wait for an hour before our food order was taken and this was after going to the bar twice to ask them. Then when our food arrived, two meals were missed and one person was missing their chip upgrade and one item was completely wrong. Then when we went to pay the bill, the queue was huge and there was only one person behind the bar, they looked very stressed. The food was great which was the only saving factor.

The food is amazing and we can't fault it in any way. All the parmos are delicious. However, we were disappointed with the service. We waited almost an hour to have our food served even though it wasn't a particularly busy night. My husband went to the bar to order some more drinks and had to wait 10mins to be served because there was only one barman who served everyone including table orders. Perhaps they were understaffed tonight but it somewhat spoiled the experience. Also, the 'optional' service charge wasn't really optional- it was added to the bill without our knowledge and we only realised it when we looked at the bill once everything was paid for.

We arrived a few minutes early for our booking and were asked to wait at the bar, where we were promptly ignored, even though no one else was waiting to be served. Once seated we ordered, and waited, waited some more, had another round of drinks and waited again. After just over an hour from ordering, our food arrived. We all ordered a Parmo with no special instructions except for no onion in the salad, which turned into no salad. We weren't offered or asked if we wanted any condiments so had to wait until we caught a member of staff to ask. The food was OK, nothing to scream about. I've had better and worse elsewhere. The bill was more than I expected. We had 4 Parmo's, 1 dessert and 11 drinks, 2 of which were soft drinks and the bill, before the 10% service charge, was a little over £166 (a total of £184). I saw a few turned away at the door, but if a meal didn't take 2 1/2 hours, maybe there'd have been plenty of tables available.
