The Seahorse Restaurant in Conwy

It’s rare that I have ever been so disappointed with a dining experience but this has to be one of the worst. Half the menu at 8:30pm on a Saturday evening wasn’t available. That was the same with the “specials” and the beers. I know our organiser will be unhappy as he takes great pride in finding us good places to eat out. The place is very “tired” and needs effort and work putting in to turn it around to how it used to be. I for one will not be going be going back in a hurry

We ordered two main courses that looked nothing like the pictures. The “vegetables” side was literally unseasoned, boiled carrot batons, and the potatoes were unseasoned too. The dish was poorly presented, making the little food on the plate unappealing. We were surprised because the dish looked nothing like the pictures on Google Maps. Do they have a new, untrained cook, or are the pictures fake? On the plus side, the fish was well-cooked and fresh, and the lemon and saffron sauce was delicious. The restaurant’s ambiance and decor are lovely. However, £25 per main dish seemed overpriced to us. A similar, better-presented dish at the four-star hotel we’re staying at was around £18. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend or visit again.

This is our go to restaurant when visiting Llandudno. A variety of food options, mostly locally sourced, and a very tempting specials board. Portion sizes can only be described as generous. The food is flavoursome and excellently cooked. Aim to be seated downstairs in the cosy stone-walled area which has so much atmosphere.

New owners for 12 months. Good choice in fixed price menu with some supplements. Lobster tail in started was great! Scallops were big & tasty. Enjoyed our dinner very much! Thank You

Absolutely georgous everything cooked to perfection family run business 2 daughters serving perfect service mum chef perfect best meal had dressed crab starter and John dory main it was amazing can't wait to go back Jan & Alan Barnsley.

We've been (fairly), regular customers of this restaurant for the last for 18 years, including many Christmas Eves, and New Years eves. Although the food was not bad it is no where near as good as it was. The biggest problem was the service, it was TERRIBLE! Firstly our order was not taken for well over 30 minutes, the young guy that served us just really didn't seem to have a clue. The options were a one, two, or three course meal with several items carrying a supplement, we opted for the two course. Starter of scallops was ok, although the black pudding was so well done it was crisp. Main course was good. Then the guy asked us if we wanted desert and we declined simply asking for the bill. Then we waited.... And waited (asking again)..... And waited... For 45 minutes in fact, until the other guests on the table next and behind us got up and repeated asked the chef. Ours bill was last to come as the other two parties were incorrectly charged and one needed amending. Then finally ours came which AGAIN was wrong. Over charged by a significant amount. The chef tried to make a joke that his wife had made a mistake. I've since learnt that the restaurant has been fairly recently taken over so unfortunately we wont be back until we see the revies significantly improve.

Great Service & Amazing Food We recently revisited The Seahorse on a stay in Llandudno and it was just as good as we remembered from our previous visit (despite undergoing a change of owner) The Set Menu offers a limited but good range of Dishes from 1-3 Courses at a very reasonable price. The Service, Music and Atmosphere are all exceptional and this cosy restaurant is perfect for couples and small groups. We definitely recommend this restaurant and a booking is usually advisable. We will most definitely be returning when we are next in the area.

Don't normally leave reviews for places. I won't go back here again. Took ages for service. Arrived at 5:20pm and mains were served around 7pm. Starters were reasonably quick, but we seemed to get forgotten about after. Had to prompt the wait staff for updates. No explanation as to why the food was delayed when asked. Food was okay. Fish, as a main was good, coupled with the scallops. Disappointment was the steamed side veg, which was raw > al dente and unseasoned. Also unsure if it was fresh vegetables... I would echo some other reviewers comments about atmosphere. Tables are quite close together and very easy to hear other's conversations. Didn't recall any background music, but it may have helped. Young wait staff were attentive and polite, repeatedly filled up water bottles for the table, hence the stars. Not enough to overcome delayed service though. Having read through reviews on Google prior to leaving this, I'm also concerned about owner/manager implicit and explicit attacks on other reviewers. Saving grace is the table next to us seemed to get a better service, having sat down after us, eaten and nearly left before our mains were served. So experience is clearly variable. Wise enough not to add on 10% service charge.

Food was okay but the service needs improving. No atmosphere at all then we visited on a Saturday evening. Place also needs a good clean, especially the toilets and carpets! Standards have slipped in our opinion since our last visit 2 years ago

Can't rate the food as never got as far as that, popped in on Friday to see if they had a table for two, they were fully booked so we booked a table for Sunday @ 7pm. Got there only to find the place closed, ended up going to the pub down the road for dinner instead, we were told they do this quite often!!!

I had an excellent seafood meal here yesterday. I had the smoked haddock chowder and John Dory / scallops, and two courses were more than enough. Probably the first time I have left a seafood restaurant feeling full ! My guests were delighted with their mussels, dressed crab (superb), and cod/crab main. Thoughtful, attentive service too. Wine by the glass was very expensive though, so that needs some reconsideration. Highly recommended overall.

Bit pricey if you are not a seafood fan, basicalky a chicken breast smartened up with some sauce was £25, the same as a Monkfish or seabass dish. Not somewhere for 4 starving golfers to eat at either, topped up with some fast food from around the corner later. Also found it difficult to read the menu due to print colours on dark background & mood lighting in restaurant. Used phone torch !!!

Our second time at this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The food is delicious,the wine selection great. Service brilliant. Book to avoid disappointment.

Lovely meal,great price and service

Such a lovely place. Entering via the steps outside down into the basement to find exposed stone walls and a lovely cosy atmosphere and a warm welcome was a treat. The place is small but perfectly formed. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered coffee while deciding what to eat and was very pleased, this was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in a long time. I ordered one of the fish dishes with dauphinois potatoes, after a short wait it arrived and it was truly delicious, my wife ordered the beef fillet and that was even nicer. Dessert was great too, homemade cheesecake. Just stunning,10 out of 10, would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back.

Visited Monday night They had no ice but did go to Sainsbury’s for some My starter of monkfish was minute my sisters chowder was nice however not hot and served when we asked we got two pieces of notrmal bland bread typically l would of thought hot crusty rolls My seafood linguine had hardly any seafood 3 muscles the size of a thumb nail I made a beeline for this restaurant for the seafood and felt completely disappointed My sister was also annoyed as maintenance was bieng done in the background They gave us two small bottles of fizz for compensation but to be honest it made no difference to me my meal was as very bad for the price s Hearing the response from the owner what about liukewarm food and minimal seafood in linguine We were asked once how it was and tbh l reflected on things this morning as l had had a few glasses of wine and didn’t want to have to complain want it to be right and have a good time I must say lm with you . I wish you had not taken the booking

My main dish of cod was excellent, it really was! but my wife’s “rack of lamb” was absolutely awful. The so called “rack of lamb”was basically three small, unbelievabley fatty chops with about three desert spoons of meat between them. We told the waitress how dissatisfied we were… she said “sorry “, dumped the fatty remains into a bin and never spoke to the chef.. can’t win ‘em all as “they” Say.

100% recommended. I'm very fussy with my seafood and that was extraordinary. My husband had a duck since he isn't a sea-fan and he loved it. On a day restaurant has some music issues and apologized to us for inconvenience with champagne. I know it wasn't planned but for us that was the amazing as nowadays is to much noise everywhere so we really enjoyed our quiet atmosphere as we could talk properly. There is a very young, pretty waitress with a red cardigan she was very attentive and hardworking. 12.02.24

Visited a couple of times now the latest being for my fiancée and I anniversary. They went above and beyond to make it a special night for us especially serving fantastic food once again. Highly recommend stopping by and I would like to thank the owner Theresa and her staff once again for a great evening!

Lovely old school cooking from a chef who knows what they're doing. Staff all very friendly and nice with our young children, writing a little menu for them when we arrived was a lovely touch.

Birthday visit to Llandudno. Not been to this restaurant for some time and it had since changed hands. Rang up and had a lovely, long chat with new Owner, Theresa. Arrived tonight and was warmly greeted by Hayley who I have met before. I had decided what I was having very quickly following a glance at the board with a little help from Hayley. The Wild Seabass with Prawns in a Mediterranean sauce. It arrived very quickly with a side of veg and new potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection. The best Mediterranean sauce I have had. Food made with love and served quickly, staff (mainly family) who have a passion for what they do and treat each customer with the greatest of respect. Very deserving of their latest award since takeover in June. What more can you ask for? Keep up the good work 👏

Delicious home made icecream and sticky toffee pudding and lovely fresh food

Dine in with friends. The seafood spaghetti and the cod with crab are tasty. However, the service is really bad. -The waiter pour the wine out and made table and pram were wet. -We’ve checked several times with waiters about the main course status ( because our friends are almost finished their meals) but no any response. Just said they will check but no any update from them. -We waiting for the sides until we finished the main course. We asked 3 times with different waiters and no any response from them until the last asking. The lady said they’ve combined our sides to other friends’ portion. It’s ridiculous. No one tell us that they will combined the sides! And we waited for long time for such stupid things. -Wrong billing I’m so disappointed with the mess services. Will not go again. Response to restaurants reply: It’s shame. May be my reviews make you feeling not good. BUT all my reviews are true! Yes, we booked a table for 12 people but 4 kids and 1 baby included. Thus, we ordered 7 main courses with starters / desserts for 7 adults and 1 kids meal and wine. I’m feeling sorry for 2 kids running around our table and we did stopped them once you told us. And I appreciated the lady with black clothes who helping us carried the pram upstairs. She was very kind and helpful. However, the staff who mainly serving our table was not very good. She pour the wine out on the table and the baby pram when she collecting the empty wine cup. For the wrong billing Yes, the first bill was £191 that’s lower then the actual bill. We found it wrong and reported it to restaurant even it’s lower price because that’s not what we ordered. And the 2nd bill was wrong again which was overcharged until the 3rd bill. Actually, not only the mess dish arrangement, one of the main course was not correct but we tried to make it simply and just finished it without any complaints. For the dish arrangement and no any updates/ response from the staff after we asked, really disappointed. What I feeling? I’m wasted my time for waiting because of the poor arrangement. I keep waiting and asking and get no response whole night. And my kid and I feeling very hungry. Because I still waiting my main course and the side. I was wait for whole dinner, my friends almost finished their meals but I’m still waiting. No any reply after asking, just said they will check until our last asking. Throughout the meal no one asked if the food was ok. Made us feel unwelcome. If anyone asked, may be the things will not become that bad.

Wow, What a find, From the moment we turned up, they made us feel just welcome. Especially a lady called Hayley, she went above and beyond making us feel welcome. I wouldn't hesitate for one moment to highly recommend this establishment, of course the food as well, was excellent value for money, and absolutely beautiful, we most certainly will be going again.

Lovely little restaurant! If you are looking for local seafood and something other than the ordinary default menu, this is the place to go! Try the local Snowdon Craft Beer!

A little gem of a restaurant we discovered during a layover. Although they were extremely busy, they still managed to accommodate us and serve us a delicious menu. The food is very good, a kind of mixture of your grandma's specialties and a great chef's touch. The dishes themselves are relatively simple, yet executed with just the right amount of refinement to elevate them to a level high above what you would expect. The quantities are well mastered, as you will certainly not leave feeling hungry, yet it won't be an ordeal to finish your dishes. The ingredients are fresh, which reflects into the quality of their concoctions, their ice cream is home made (and oh so good!). The service? Amazing! They seem genuinely happy to see you, and manage to make you feel right at home, while still maintaining a high level of professionalism and efficiency. The price was fair, and given the price to quality ratio, I'd consider it to be a very good deal. A great place to dine, and surely a place I'll go back to.

If you like fish then this place is well worth a visit. Well cooked and presented.

I've looked at this restaurant a few times when we have been to Llandudno but never managed to get there until Monday and wasn't disappointed. Lovely mussels for me and seafood linguini for my husband 😋. Lovely cosy friendly atmosphere and staff. Well worth a visit

This restaurant is the only reason we drove back to Llandudno from the Midlands. Amazing food, wonderful staff, the vibe in this place is unreal. Makes all the difference when the staff are so welcoming and accommodating. Taki the manager is the most kindest and welcoming person ensuring the experience is next level. Wish we lived closer we would dine here weekly. The chef even did us a special meal for us and nothing was too much trouble. We chatted for to the full team after our meal and was kindly offered a drink. If ever you are in the area this is place to visit by far. We will see you all again very soon :) xxx

When I was last here a few months ago it was beyond delicious, the best chowder I had ever had and amazing monkfish, and everything else was delicious! (I sampled everyone’s plates). I was really looking forward to coming back. This time I am extremely disappointed, I’m not sure if it’s a new chef or cost cutting but everyone’s food at the table was bland and lacking, from starter through to desert. The best but was the wine unfortunately. I would have recommended this place previously but not any more.

A very cosy little restaurant. We were lucky to get a table as it was booked for most of the evening. All the food was excellent. There is no vegetarian main listed on the menu or on the specials board but the chef made the seafood tagliatelle with mushrooms instead which was lovely.

(I last dined here on 15th Sept.) Since 2018, as a local, this restaurant was one of our 1st choices for a meal out. It's now under new ownership and our latest experience ensures we will not return again. I find it strange that Tripadvisor reviews are somewhat different to those here in Google. Booked a table for 5pm and stipulated we wanted it all evening which we were told was OK. The young waiting on staff, although pleasant, seemed very inexperienced. At one point another member of staff (a Chinese lady who I am lead to believe is the new owner) was rudely barking instructions to our waitress. At 7:30 pm the Chinese lady rudely told us that the table had a booking and that we must leave, despite us not having finished. The diner with the 7:30 booking (apparently a regular) then proceeded to harass us, standing at the end of our table being aggressive. This was distressing not only for members of my party but also other diners who approached us later. We approached the manager to complain about the aggressive man demanding that we leave, stating that when we booked we were told we could have the table all evening. The restaurant did absolutely nothing to manage any aspect of the situation. We decided to leave and have our coffee and liquors elsewhere.

We called here for a meal on a recent trip to Llandudno and had an amazing night. First the staff were first class, the best service we have had for a long time in any restaurant, very attentive, friendly and polite. The food was cooked to a very high standard we couldn't fault it and found it delicious 10/10 from us. We were seated downstairs which was lovely, very intimate and rustic, I cant comment on the upstairs seating area but looked more contemporary from what I could see from the outside. We will definitely return to this fab little restaurant, we had an amazing time and we thought it was very good value at under £100 for two for a three course meal, and a bottle of wine especially for the standard of food and service we received. Also we found the young man who was working there brilliant, keep it up and you will do well.

Excellent menu, for seafood lovers or otherwise, and delicious food. The service from Hayley had superlative friendliness and attention to detail, and the space a cosy and relaxed ambience. After a poor lunchtime experience in Conwy, this was welcome. Thank you!

Very quirky little resteraunt super food great atmosfere well worth a visit.

Came in at 2pm for lunch. The staff sat us down and we were told that they were not serving food at the moment and had to wait 30 mins to give in our orders. The food itself was very good. However the service was horrendous. My fiancé had a chicken and mushroom dish, half of the dish was missing, no mushroom in sight. When we asked about it, we were told that it was in the sauce. However, after overhearing the waiters and chefs talking in the kitchen, the chefs words were "there's no mushrooms at all?". Even after knowing that they forgot them. They made no aim to rectify the mistake. We were asked if the food was okay, 5 times in a space of 10 minutes. Waiters seemed to have no communication between them and are unprofessional. The price of the food was extortionate for the service. A 2 course meal for 2, came to over £75. I wish I could recommend this place as the food is actually really good. However, due to the service. It came off to me as unprofessional and an awkward environment to be in. There were no other customers in the restaurant which came to a surprise. Would not recommend unfortunately.

This is a real gem of a restaurant, excellent staff and top chef, only found it by chance but thankfully we did.

Overpriced food and drinks that isn’t good value for money. The food was no better than the cheaper options in other restaurants. The young male waiting on staff seemed inebriated and were stumbling around. The restaurant lacked any ambience and the room we were in, looked like it was set up for a wedding. I would never go back there again and would strongly advise against going, as there are better local restaurants providing value for money.

The Seahorse is a lovely place to eat. The food was fantastic, portion sizes were just right, and the quality of the food was very high. Service was very good and the waiting on staff were efficient and pleasant

Attended this wonderful restaurant for my wife’s birthday as she loves seafood; the evening was not wasted as everything was superb - and my wife’s happy😁

A real little gem greT food and good staff

The lobster bisque was out of this world and the best I have ever had, and seafood has been my favourite food for 45 years! Some items were no longer available and the restaurant was very busy, all testimony to how good this restaurant is. The service was equally perfect, impeccable, prompt and extremely friendly and efficient. The restaurant is a little cramp but this is a mere small detail well compensated by all the numerous assets that this wonderful gem of a restaurant has to offer. The chosen decor is also very well coordinated and conceived, in all sea-themed manners. I shall never forget the wonderful and unmatched experience of having eaten at this restaurant, and I shall return most definitely!

We have had many enjoyable meals at the Seahorse in the past, but our recent visit was disappointing. The food was OK but not as good as before and was more expensive than on previous visits. The staff didn’t have any knowledge of what beers they had, or what desserts were available. I believe that it is now under new management which would explain the change. Sadly we will not be returning.

Well looked after by the new owners,they even dressed our table as it was our wedding anniversary, only 1 gripe,which was completely out of their hands was a couple booked but didn't let them know they were bringing 2 very noisy toddlers,yet they still happily looked after them..🤩👍

Mum and myself called in yesterday 17/08/23 both went for the lobster 🦞 and it was just fabulous, what a great find this place is… lovely setting , staff are so friendly, polite and very professional. But the food was outstanding… if you’ve not been then definitely go as you will not be disappointed what to ever!… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a most amazing night. Been coming here for many years and always had an amazing night. We are both massive foodies and the passion behind everything the Seahorse stands for is beyond the norm. Teresa and her staff really care about what you think and in todays world this is not always the case, voice of experience. Had scallops to start and were cooked perfectly and quality I have not experienced for a long time, scallops are one of my favourites and these were perfect, main was lobster and rack of lamb again delicious, local and accompaniments tailor made for us which was 10/10 , drink choice was amazing and excellent quality. Staff are 100% amazing and chatting closely to the owner its a testament that not only do they want to deliver amazing food bit look after you. All staff went above and beyond and I can honestly say as I said at the beginning we eat out a lot , I have not received this level of service with genuine sincerity for years. All the staff were amazing and I need to say a particular mention to one lady whom I did mention to Teresa and it was her first day today ! I would have never have known this, her service was second to none, we left smiling and talking about our experience which we will never forget and know that when we return it will not disssapoint. Thank you for an amazing evening with exquisite food & drink and service that no one can match. Love what you are about and what you do and can't wait to be back 💛

Amazing food, fantastic service and beautiful atmosphere, we had lobster, muscles and steak and it was out of this world, the staff had really good knowledge of the dishes they served, all sourced locally, would definitely return!!!!

Lovely 3 course meal tonight; we both had crab cakes to start, followed by cod and crispy duck then créme brûlee and warm chocolate brownie; delicious. The wine was fabulous and the staff were v friendly; perfect evening - would definitely recommend this restaurant x

Been eating at this restaurant for 10 years, used to be fantastic obviously changed hands since last time we were here in May this year, give it a miss for 12 months lets hop it gets back to where it was.

Never ever rated anywhere but I must mention tonight this place has gone down hill very quickly. Loved coming here for years. Tonight I have no words. AWFUL. I have now been told it's under new management. Please please save your money and don't go

This restaurant is a lovely place if you like fish. But there are also options other than fish, such as lamb. We ordered various different starters and main courses. All were very tasty. If you take a starter and a main course, it will be enough for someone with an average appetite. The staff were friendly and the prices were right, considering the freshness and good taste. The only negative was the gratin dauphinois, which didn't look or taste very good.

Worst experience! Dirty place, overcooked lobster, way overpriced and unwelcoming waitresses!

We visited the Seahorse for our 41st anniversary . From making the reservation to getting the bill smooth as silk . We were greeted to a reserved table with banners and table decorations. The food was delicious service and wine 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Can’t wait to return

I never write reviews but I had to this time. Worst restaurant experience of my life. We ordered 3 plates of Lobsters, it took 45 minutes and they only served it after we reminded them. The Lobsters were overcooked and way too chewy (they might forgotten about them and overcooked them). I could not swallow it at all, so I told one of the waitresses about this. She took all of our plates away (my friends have already eaten some of it but definitely haven't finished their plates). The waitress came back apologizing and saying that the chef has tasted it and we are right they were chewy and she will deal with it. A few minutes later, 2 other members of staff came back saying that the lobsters were completely fine, they tasted it, and they don't feel like there was anything wrong with it!!! Eventually, they kept saying that we are basically lying, and also that 2 of the plates were already eaten so we have to pay full price for them!!! Even though they took the plates without telling us what will happen next and threw them away. The chefs got involved and sayed that we were basically lying as well. Horrible horrible experience,

Friendly staff but food mediocre. Sea bass flavour drowned with sweet tomato sauce . Vegetables tasteless and espresso coffee too thin.

We waited at least half an hour for our starters then the same again for our main courses. The bread came with our starters. Chips (fries) OR vegetables is not a choice I really shouldn't have to make, especially at £32 for two courses! The tables are so close together you have no choice but to talk to the people at the next table which negates the romantic atmosphere. That said, the waitresses were lovely and the lamb kofta delicious

Charming little restaurant in LLandudno. Popped in for a meal with my wife the other night. We've been eating here for over 35 years and this is our first post covid visit. Great to see that nothing has really changed. Good atmosphere, service and lovely sea food. Definitely one to visit again.

Unbelievable food! I had the fishcake to start, followed by monkfish main. Would 100% recommend a visit if you're in Llandudno. I'd definitely visit again.

Superb evening at this restaurant, ambience and service were spot on, but the food was out of the top league. Mussels to start, followed by beautiful John Dory. Good portions at a very acceptable price, wine was also reasonable

Horrible restaurant. Wouldn’t recommend. The mussels tasted rotten and disgusting. The lobster was extra salty. And we wanted to take some of the Thai linguini home so we can eat it later since we hate wasting food. And the chef did not let us. They kept saying they are worried about our safety with the food . But that doesn’t make sense. How can you let your food get wasted. Paid almost a 100 pounds for two mains and a starter and the food was disgusting, along with the service. 10/10 do not recommend

Very disappointing visit, good food, very very poor service, you order a drink and it comes, but nobody bothers to check if you want any more, ordered coffee that never came.

The food wasn't nice. My partner had muscles and a lot of them hadn't opened and the white wine and garlic sauce they came in was cold and tasteless. Sorry but we didn't enjoy any of the food.

We had dinner here whilst staying In Llandudno for a holiday and seeing most of the initial reviews were ok we booked . My goats cheese starter was quite shocking, the salad leaves were old, the cheese was cooked rather than warmed and was hard and yellow and the berries with it were still slightly frozen and mushy (ones you’d get in a packet). I sent it back as could not eat it. We were quite disappointed generally with the food and would not return. It was just ‘ok’. Also the staff had no idea, but they were all teenagers. I asked to speak to the manager but no one came . No one also asked if I’d like another drink when my main meal came, I had to flag a girl down. Main meal was tasteless. I’d say go to Snooze down the road for consistently amazing food and service .
