A great place to eat and relax staff very attentive food was great drinks excellent price really good. We shall return

Had Sunday lunch there with my partner we couldn't fault the food or the service only very small negative Issue I had was all the soft furnishings which they put outside in good weather were stuffed under the stairs which looked a little untidy in the very smart and trendy surroundings , but will definitely go back at some point .

All in all, the food was a mixture of great and average. The service was inconsistent and the venue was a mixture of loud bar, restaurant and drunken madness (and that's at 2pm on a Saturday). The food, we ordered 2 plates each on the recommendation of one waitress, only for another to say that we hadn't ordered enough. The food was a mixture of great : sweetcorn ribs, chicken satay steak. Average: sliders, steak and skip: salad, topped fries.

Salt House never misses! The food is beyond tasty, thanks to the incredible chefs who clearly know what they’re doing. The menu is pure genius, with each dish packed with flavor and creativity. If you’re after an unforgettable meal, Salt House is the place to be!

Salt House has quickly become my go-to spot, especially for a perfect Sunday dinner! Every visit feels like a treat, thanks to the wonderful food and cocktails that never disappoint. The menu has something for everyone, with dishes that are both comforting and innovative. You can really tell how much care and quality go into every plate. If you’re looking for a place that gets everything right from food and drinks to ambiance, Salt House is the one to try. I’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend it enough. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely food and well cooked, could do with more food options on the menu. Good quick service and nice atmosphere. Polite and friendly waiters, waitresses and bar staff. Trendy pub and clean toilets.

It's not the worst place in town,but it's definitely not the best. There didn't seem to be enough staff on the bar, especially as people were ordering cocktails, which, any person that frequents a bar these days knows they take so much time. So bearing this in mind, you'd think that they would take this in account when staffing. Also, due to staff making cocktails at the opposite side of the bar to customers, the staff that were there had no idea who's should be served next as they had their backs turned away. It seemed very unorganised to me. Price wise, it's cheaper than The Botanist, but it's still extremely overpriced for Barnsley, (just inder £7 for a 175ml wine, that I had to have ice in as it was warm). Would visit again if it was a friends choice, but I wouldn't recommend it or choose to go.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an absolutely fantastic time at The Salt House for the bottomless brunch! Incredible value for money—delicious food and the drinks just kept flowing. A special shoutout to Madi, our brilliant waitress. She was always there when we needed a drink, super friendly, and served everything with a smile. Massive thank you to Madi and the whole Salt House team. We’ll definitely be booking again soon!

we came for bottomless brunch, the food was amazing and our server morgan was superb, very polite and helpful from start to finish always making sure we had our drinks ordered and clearing the table away. the bottomless brunch was well worth the money. we would definitely come again.

Girls afternoon for bottomless brunch. Our server was Morgan who was brilliant. We didn't have to wait to request drinks and our glasses was kept full, unlike other bottomless brunches I have been to. Had a small issue that was resolved immediately. Would definitely visit again.

Never been here before. Won’t be coming back. I just don’t get this way of dining. We ordered 2 platters and some fries. And got them all brought to us at once, so by the time I had eaten my mussels, my scallop dish was cold. Drinks are very expensive. Nearly £90 for 2 of us. Which I think is expensive.

Well what can I say, this was the second visit for a Sunday lunch, the first visit was amazing, couldn’t fault it at all. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my second visit. We had to wait for our meal which was left on the counter and forgot about, so not hot when arrived, the meal itself was disappointing, paying £20 for 2 courses and then having to pay an extra £3 for mash potatoes and an extra £2.50 for cauliflower cheese just wasn’t right. The quality of the meal was no where near as good as the last time I visited. Staff trying to take our sweet order when our main hadn’t arrived, it was on the counter waiting to be brought to us. Saying that the staff were friendly. I found it disorganised and don’t think I’ll be going back for Sunday lunch. I was so looking forward to it as my first experience was amazing. This visit was for a special family birthday .

Reo was our server and he was amazing. So lovely and accommodating! Couldn’t have asked for better service! Had the best time!

My wife and I had a lovely Saturday afternoon here during Barnsley's town centre Garden party day. The sun was shining, we got a seat outside, the food here was lovely and so were the staff, nice cold drinks and an ice bucket for the wine, service for the food was polite and quick. Perfect. 👌

We went in the pub twice first drink was nice and the atmosphere was lovely but the second drink about 1 hour after the music and noise ruined the place as you couldnt here anyone talk as it was that loud

Always the place to go for drinks on a weekend as there's a good atmosphere. Sunday lunch is very good too. The only thing that lets it down is the very slow service.

2nd time having Sunday Dinner here, and again outstanding. One of the best Sunday dinners in the area. I always have the slow cooked salt beef, it is so soft, tender an juicy with a taste of wanting more followed by the roasted belly pork with crackling, and again, juicy tender with the added crunch. The roast potatoes could do with some more crunch but taste remarkable, the roasted carrot, yes, only 1 tasted so sweet and delicious but left me wanting more, the wedge of cabbage has a great mouthful of freshness and went so well with the dish. We also had a side of the best cauliflower cheese I've ever had in a restaurant, it was so cheesy and the cauliflower was cooked really well and not soft and mushy, the side of mash was so buttery and the bigs in blankets had a twist of sweetness. Only complaint would be that the staff started clearing the table before we were all finished, which seemed a bit rude and rushed us slightly and the live music was too loud for an afternoon dinner, but all in all I will be back again.

The food was absolutely delicious. I have been here so many times and never been disappointed. The service was also amazing. Definitely will return again.✅😄

A few of us from the office had booked to eat here. I would like to say how well the staff did bearing in mind that there were only three staff on! Shelby was serving, clearing, cleaning and taking payments whilst being very calm and organised. There was one chef and one on the bar. The food was hot, tasted great and was fairly quick so well done chef for managing that under pressure. Coffee was nice and drinks were delivered quickly. So massive thanks to Shelby and the company should be giving you a raise considering your commitment and professionalism.

Our first visit since the new owners took over and what a difference! The small plate menu has loads of choice and everything was cooked perfectly and fresh. The free children’s menu was great and was a big portion. The staff were friendly and attentive and everything about the visit was a success! Will definitely return.

Knowing this place was relatively new and having read the previous reviews, we anticipated there may be a few teethings issues - how wrong we were. We had a fantastic experience here for Sunday lunch - very polite staff and delicious food, all at a great price in a really lovely setting. We did the two courses for £20 - starting with chicken ceasar salad and beef brisket for main. Both great. Main course was piping hot (and hot plate), huge portion of brisket, lashings of gravy plus an extra jug brought out as standard. Partners prawn cocktail and pork belly main also lovely. Will definitely be returning!

Such friendly and welcoming staff, the food and drinks were so affordable to say how good they were! Would recommend to friends and couples.

Bit expensive but staff where friendly enough

Sorry but gave this place its last chance this morning. Two poor girls had to run round as the front of house needed at least 5 staff. Town was busy due to the race ( that’s been advertised all week ). All seated customers were just hacked off. Such a shame as the food is good and the place looks great. Hope you get sorted for future customers

Waited nearly an hour for pre-ordered food. Music blasting like a nightclub. Food was cold when it arrived, got half of the orders wrong, one person ended up eating something they didn't order because the wait had been so long. No apology and when I complained told it was our fault because a few people in our group arrived 10 minutes late and most people got what they ordered in the end because they had to go and swap it and he wasn't made away by his wait staff it was wrong so that was our problem. The rudest manager.

It's a lovely place and great location but the food isn't up to much, we had the cheese burger and the chicken salad but we both thought they wasn't up to much

We went here a few months back for my wife's birthday! We had tapas, the food was very good! That being said it was a little expensive for what it was. Not the best value for money.

We visited salt house for the first time yesterday to celebrate my daughters 19th birthday the food was amazing and Meg the member of staff that looked after went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we need and wanted she is truly a credit to the restaurant her customer service was second to non and one of the reasons I’d definitely go back.

Had a fab night, the staff were really helpful especially Megan who was really attentive and friendly

We had my daughters hen doo there. £35 per head. We were told to go upstairs by the staff down stairs. So off we went and were all sat down talking amongst ourselves and the manager came and asked us to go back down stairs, they weren’t ready for us. So I collected all the props I’d put on the tables and we went back down stairs. She told us we weren’t expected for another half hour so my daughter showed her the text message they had sent her and it was the manager that had got it wrong. No apology. But we went down stairs to await being called again. When we went back upstairs all that had been done to the tables was they put knives and forks out. They took our drinks order and they were delivered except mine I had ordered half of lager. We were given the food menu and I ordered the steak sandwich. I couldn’t get my teeth through it, it was all gristle. They then took drinks order again n some got a second drink some didn’t. Then they came for the remainder of the money n we were told we had under paid. So not to make a fuss we paid and left. I will never walk through there doors again.

Best Sunday lunch in town, slightly spoilt from 2pm onwards when the band starts though as its too loud, also visited for bottomless bubbles on 12th April which was excellent we were well looked after by staff member.

Fantastic service! The staff were attentive and friendly especially Meg and Rio.

The salmon was delivered with asparagus prawns and nothing else which makes it very expensive for what arrived

Without doubt one of our favorite places to go! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and the general manager. The staff were extremely friendly, the restaurant was significantly busier than usual a great buzz to the restaurant (the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks for dressing our table with balloons and confetti before our large party being shown to our table sorry I didn’t catch her name) which obviously also added up to the great experience. The bottomless was fantastic value for money as we were worried about not having enough drinks but we definitely did! Liv/olivia I think her name is that looked after us has such a warm personality and highly motivated. I truly enjoyed the food plenty of options to choose from. The cocktails are to die for too - wow! All respect for the general manager Sam who does a great job here; checking up on everyone’s tables several times to make sure everything was okay at the same time - making sure the staff all knew what their roles and responsibilities were in a clam and colective manner a true example of excellent leadership. We will most definitely be returning with more friends :-)

The food was amazing, if you like belly pork order it from the starter menu it's absolutely amazing. The service from the staff was fantastic and they were polite and very helpful.

Came for bottomless brunch for a birthday. We only had 2 drinks within 45 minutes being there and gave us a bottle off prosecco rose to apologise.I felt so sorry for staff they was lovely but couldn't do much more than they was. They definitely need a bar seperate for bottomless brunch.

Very disappointed by the visit. The service was slow. By the time service came for drinks order we had already visited the bar. The food menu was basic. Doesn't cater for many dietaries. Asked if I could have a simple side off the lunch menu which seamt a difficult yet it was a simple ask. The prices are extortionate. Was charged service charge without being told and didn't in my opinion have a service. Tried to ring the establishment to resolve but told that's what I should expect!!!!! Won't be going back. Overpriced and lack of good and acceptable service.

Had Sunday Lunch for Mothers day. Despite it being full we were very well looked after by our waitress Liv, who put our order to the front of the list as we had out 3 year old twins with us. The food was excellent couldn't complain. Will be returning in the near future

I recently had the opportunity to visit the newly re opened Salt House Restaurant and Bar in Barnsley, and I must say, it was a truly remarkable experience. The establishment exuded a modern and inviting atmosphere, with its stunning decor. The staff provided a warm and courteous service, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The highlight, however, was undoubtedly the food itself, which surpassed all expectations. The culinary delights served at Salt House were nothing short of extraordinary. I must commend the team on their outstanding efforts in creating such a remarkable establishment. It is without hesitation that I rate it a perfect 10 out of 10, and I eagerly look forward to visiting again in the future.

The staff were Lovely but the food was over priced and absolutely tasteless. The whole dining experience was a disappointment tbh! What a disappointment as this used to be one of our fave’s in Barnsley. The food used to be excellent.

A yearly outing with us ladies - 1st time at this venue - staff looking after us were ok took our drinks orders & then food orders. All went down hill after this. Food very bland when I mentioned this to the girl waiter who I think was manager she just looked at me…no apology- nothing from her - then gossiping with other members of staff. We then got our bill - service charge put on bill which we didn’t pay as most of us left the food & service was not good either. Maybe some training needed? Won’t be returning anytime soon.

We didn’t get sat down straight away and was waiting for a short while at the door to be seated. Once seated we had to ask twice for menus to be brought to us and to order a drink. We ended up going to the bar to order drinks where there was only one person making cocktails so there was a very long wait which was disappointing. Upon returning to the table around 45 minutes after we arrived we were able to order our food. The other couples starters came before ours, and they’d finished their starters before ours came out which we had to ask to chase the kitchen for. The mains took about another 45 minutes to come out, one of which was completely wrong but we didn’t want to wait again so just ate it. We had to ask for replacement cutlery, napkins, salt and pepper all due to the lack of quality service provided. We did alert the wait times to the manager and they were very apologetic and offered us free drinks and a bottle of Prosecco. After the mains there was another fairly long wait for dessert, and only 3 came out, not 4! My girlfriend’s dessert never arrived and we queried this with the staff and they didn’t even know what she’d ordered and said they could go and make it now, but by this time everyone else had eaten theirs so she didn’t want to make us wait any longer. Overall the food itself was quite nice, as was the atmosphere in there with a live band on. The service however was incredibly poor. We came for NYE in 2022-23 and it was very poor then, so we thought we’d give it another try given it’d been a long time since we’d been. Unfortunately nothing had changed. The place seems to be run by very inexperienced young staff that don’t seem to be able to run it smoothly, and ultimately we suffered that night and ended up doing half their job for them by chasing them for every meal, menu, cutlery etc. They were apologetic and did give us a large discount on our bill but overall the evening was ruined by poor service which isn’t ideal for the occasion. The mobile app also stated cocktails were 2 for £12 but at the bar this was changed to 2 for £15, plus a long wait. This place seriously needs to invest more in their staff rather than their instagram account as on there it makes itself out to be a very well-kept restaurant but this is far from what I’ve experienced. I cannot imagine there are many repeat customers that will return here if they have a similar experience to me.

Myself and girlfriend visited for the re launch party recently. All food was delicious but the ribs are next level (definitely lived up to how good it looks in their Instagram!) the atmosphere great as well, great decor and really attentive service staff. We have been back twice since to experiance the Sunday dinner, again it did not disappoint. The portion sizes are good and we can’t get enough of the beef brisket. This will definitely be a regular for us!

When the waiter took our order, I asked what soup was being served, he didn't have a clue what it was, which I find pretty poor considering the limited menu being served on Sundays. We'd asked for water on the table, which we got, but with only 5 glasses. I asked for more but they never came. Drinks took a long time to arrive, then some were missing. Plates were getting cleared away before everyone had finished. After the main dishes had been cleared, we didn't see a waiter pass by again. No offer of more drinks or any desserts. A drinks order was completely forgotten, food order was taken nearly 25 minutes after sitting down, the one vegan option on the menu was no longer available but an alternative apparently could be made. Soup starters didn't arrive for over an hour after ordering because 'the ticket didn't go through', and when they did arrive they had bits of plastic in 3 out of 5 of them (like cellophane wrapping). At this point in the middle of being put off by soup with plastic in it, we were told the vegan alternative is not actually vegan, meaning there was no substitute and one of our party would not be having a main course. The mains eventually arrived and the pork was extremely fatty and the brisket overwhelmingly salty, even with the title of salted brisket. Live music was being played in the bar area which was good but far too loud - raise your voice to try and speak to the other members of your party, loud. The starters were removed from our bill and 30% was taken off the mains, so I appreciate the effort that was made to right the wrongs of the afternoon but the damage was already done. I will not be visiting or recommending The Salt House again.

Visited for Sunday lunch. We only had a main course as the starter and dessert menus weren't very inspiring. The Sunday lunch was great thought, the meat was cooked well, interesting vegetables and cauliflower cheese came as standard. Would recommend.

It was our first visit to the Salt House, it was a relaxed atmosphere with live music. A great place to chill out and have a beautiful steak over a few beers. Service was great from Maddie D who made our visit enjoyable. We will celebrate me back for more.

The food was phenomenal, and the venue was honestly very pleasant. Unfortunately the kitchen staff took around 45 minutes to prepare the food, but this was likely due to us arriving right as they opened, plus the bar staff forgot a cocktail we ordered and we has to ask for it later. Honestly it was worth the wait though!

The miserable bar manager/supervisor seems to have gone the same way as the crooked old owner, all for the better! The staff that welcomed us today were super friendly and more than obliging with dietary requirements, offering to make certain dishes gluten free. Fantastic experience, will be visiting again soon!

Just been in with my wife and kids for food was absolutely beautiful compliments to chef⁩ kids loved their burgers and chips me and my wife had 6 dishes from the small plates menu the food was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing specially the sesh fries…my 7 yr old daughter said the FOH staff were lovely and wanted to say a special thank you to Maddie ⁩ for the gold straws in her drink my 4 year old son was watching the chef⁩ in the kitchen and now decided he wants to be a chef..thank you for contributing to lovely family afternoon

Lovely food, well priced and staff were helpful and service was to a high standard. My partner and I went for the set menu for two for £50. It was delicious and portions were a good size. would definitely recommend and we will be returning - thank you

Myself and my husband had our meal here after our wedding yesterday. To cut a long story short, our booking was with the old owners so I originally wanted a refund so we could book elsewhere for our meal after our wedding. However, a refund was not doable with you as the new owners, and you guys promised you would look after us if we kept the booking. And that you did! Nothing was too much trouble and you went above and beyond for us. You set up the tables upstairs and let us have that whole area to ourselves along with complementary Prosecco. Food was amazing and such a chilled atmosphere, really lovely and polite staff who couldn’t do enough for us all. (We paid £40 per person but we had food and also had drinks from 4pm - 8pm) Thank you so much❤️

First time visiting with my sister for lunch. The rump steak sandwich was amazing, also definitely up there with one of the best strawberry daiquiris 🤩 the staff were amazing couldn’t have been better. Will definitely be visiting again for a bottomless brunch 👀

Just came in for a drink at lunchtime, the new owner came over and asked if I was warm enough. It was actually very warm and cozy, wine very good. Lovely staff, hope everyone comes back, don't think many people are aware it's re-opened.
