Great location would highly recommend

Can't say it's too great in all fairness. Normally wouldn't be my sort of pub (well "bar") with sky sports blaring but it was nice to see 5 ales on tap through the window which was the sole incentive to visit. Unfortunately as we proceeded to enter the premises some really rude security guy simply pointed at my dog and said "no". Sod that... No reason for them to not be dog friendly especially when most other pubs in Shrewsbury are (fishes, henry Tudor, tap and can, etc). I won't be back.

Great love music and atmosphere

I visited this bar during a weekend trip/catch up with old class mates. As most of us are in our sixties we weren't looking for fizzy cocktails or fancy beers .The choice of bitter was ideal. Just one complaint, the band playing on the Friday night I visited need to get a new lead singer as he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.I thought it was a punk tribute bang only to find out they were doing a nineties night.

A regular CAMRA Good Beer Guide entry. Has been massively extended over the years. A good Sky Sports type pub. Five real ales. Set on the banks of tge river. Huge beer garden.

Good lively bar, they had a band on. Did encounter indoor vaping but they were trying to do it sneakily so not the fault of staff.

Nice bar, busy and the large outside area of pavement was also in use by customers. I haven't been here since it was the Proud Salopian, however I'm still happy with the establishment. Keep up the good work.

The salopian bar is a great traditional street corner pub. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a variety of beers, lager and cider, including five hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales. The ales we had were in excellent condition. The pub is a popular sport bar with lots of football memorabilia. There are TVs showing the games. There was an excellent live group playing when we visited on a saturday night.

Didn't have any food but the service was friendly and positive. The seating area is clean and looks good for a sports bar. The staff are lovely. The music is banging dance music so suits the ambience. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. What's not to love?

Great pub with good beer. Haven’t tried the latest additions of pizzas but if you want a decent pint and sport, it’s great. Could tone down the pop music I recon and put on some good old rock tunes. I recon the clientele would appreciate it!

Had a nice time at this pub. Big bonus is you can order fireaway pizza and they deliver it directly to your table and have special offers/ prices specifically to the pub. Guinness was bit of a letdown however at this place. Not poured properly and didn't settle that well.

Great bar. Loved the fact the music 🎶 started earlier rather than later.

This place used to be a temple of real ale. I understand why they bought the place next door to get the trendy punters but the atmosphere is fundamentally changed. I was the only one drinking real ale and the pint was ropey. I won't be going back. Plenty of better places to drink real ale in Shrewsbury

My last stop in Shrewsbury because have a lot of good memories in this pub. Visiting this beautiful pub after 7 years. Good service, lovely atmosphere and nice selection of beers. Pin point location next to river.

Sports bar but limit to football Loos are in a shed

I can't comment on the bar itself as didn't get through the door! An ignorant member of the door staff prevented my partner from entering on the basis he was "inebriated". My partner suffered a stroke 3 years ago and was left partially sighted. Due to that he sometimes has to steady himself when going up steps or can trip up them, especially in places that he is not familiar with. When challenged and advised of the situation rather than be gracious and empathetic, the reason for refusal of entry changed to not liking my partners attitude, probably because he dared to stand up for himself. Shame on you for discrimination of disabled people! Perhaps karma will eventually catch up with you. What was a lovely day out with work colleagues turned into a very upsetting end of the day. Good job you took the "Proud" out of your name as that door man has nothing to be proud of.

Used to love this place for a Guiness and a pork pie while watching the footy. But since it was expanded it is now very noisy and full of youngsters who can't handle their drink.

Sports bar. Good choice of beers and lagers. Busy pub OK if you like sports.

Great bar to watch the football For atmosphere I'd say this is the best pub in Shrewsbury to watch a big football game. Big selection of ale's and lager's.

Always a great lineup of cask ale in this friendly Sports Bar. I’m starting with the Buxton SPA Pale Ale 👍🏻. Lunchtime ⚽️ match being screened on the monitors.

My second stay at the hotel and it was wonderful. Will definitely be coming again. Staff wonderful and very helpful.

Great lively bar, plenty of seating for groups. Quite loud, so if you are planning on a few drinks with friends and a quiet chat, maybe not the place, especially at weekends. Great atmosphere though. Had a good sing-along and a bit of a dance, or maybe stagger about a bit.

Live music at the front, Ibiza rave at the back. Quality. Good beers and good atmosphere. Top place.

Five ales on the bar, the striking red interior is a welcome change from the muted tones most pubs seem to think is preferable. TV sport on the screens, a short hop from the railway station.

Pop in occasionally when I visit from Wolverhampton and I'll sit and watch a match in there as they have all the big games on at weekends and evenings and there's quite a few TVs or I'll just sit and chill with a quiet drink during the day, they've got a good selection of ales, lagers and ciders, I personally enjoy the Pravha and Staropramen on draft, roughly about £4.90 a pint, haven't tried the food so can't comment, bar snacks available crisps and nuts etc, large bar area with stools from street entrance and a huge seating area to the rear of pub with an aditional bar and a beer garden, I'd recommend this pub if you're into beer and live sports, live music.

Didn't have any food but the beer was good the staff were very friendly and the back room is light and roomy.

Called in twice not sure if they do food , but atmosphere, staff beer ,music ,band was spot on . Recommend for a good night out

Popped in for a quick gin on the way home after lunch with friends, friendly staff and very spacious inside. There's a big area out the back which although was empty at the time, I could imagine it would be a lively place in the evening.

Really nice bar. I had a cider that was 6%. It was a really nice bar. Not sure if I've mentioned it or not but the bar was really nic

Love this bar, nothing too much trouble for the staff, friendly and helpful, Louise made us very welcome taking time to talk to us, and sorting taxi for us, beer is top notch, if going to Shrewsbury this place is a must!!, cant wait to go back.

Great bar and good for live music and sport. Always a good pint here with a good choice of ales. It is a CAMRA pub. I was watching one of my favourite artists Libby Glicksman who was playing the late Sunday afternoon slot, brilliant gig when she is playing.

A quirky bar with a large space outback. A bit shabby, but still has plenty of large screens and a DJ on a Saturday evening.

Popped in to the sloping pub while we were doing a bit of shopping just had a couple of drinks lovely pint of bitter great atmosphere staff were lovely and if you like your sport this is the pub to go to

What a drastic change to one of my locals back in the day. I barely recognised it. The service was good, the locals were friendly, but I'm lost for words in regards to the changes.

It's been quite some time since I visited the Salopian, sadly, it's more a heavily sardine packed sports bar that a stinked up fish packer would enjoy. Only 3 serving at the front bar with a heavy queue during the Rugby, also it's very unwelcoming when you see a few others who had queued behind you to get served quicker, it's that face doesn't fit or you're not local attitude. So we left at half time and got served much quicker elsewhere.

Visted at 13.30 to meet friends but was refused entry because we had a pram and baby, despite being there before with pram. Reason given was 'its going to be busy today, so no prams' Feels very discremenitive, is it too busy for wheelchair users aswell?

The outside of the pub does not give this excellent place justice. It's a mix of outdoor astro turf pub and sports bar cum dj brilliance. Surprising Shrews shocker.

Brilliant live band, Route54 at the Salopian Bar the other night.

We always come to this pub when visiting the town.The bouncer/security asked for my ID,I loved him and cuddled him as I am 55!!! The bar staff are friendly and allow dogs, so my grandson and his girlfriend( french bull dogs) are welcome. He is getting known in there like myself cuddling the staff. So a very good atmosphere and other punters are friendly and we watched the football together. When we left, we were told you are all welcome anytime.
