Have used the saddlery many times, but this time very disappointing, feel the quantity and the quality of the food, was no where near as good as previous visits, no ham on the savory menu...not everyone likes salami and other charcuterie...also asked for scones with the savory, prepared to pay,but they didn't have any, spoilt what should have been a lovely 70th birthday treat

Me alojé en el hotel, el desayuno era genial, recuérdeles de antemano cualquier requisito dietético. Soy celíaco y me atendieron.

As we weren't hungry till later in the afternoon, we wondered if the kitchen was still open We thought the food might be "boil in the bag", but it was lovely and fresh. My husband had the steak sandwich and I had the pasta. The portions were of a good size. The coffee and tea were served in a pot, so we could have two cups. The only disappointment was that the coffee was Nescafé , but it was very reasonable priced.

The Saddlery is in the new spree book and this was our main reason for booking, however neither myself or my friend had been before, so it was a case of trying somewhere new as well, and we certainly weren't disappointed. I had the jumbo haddock and my friend had the chicken rob Roy, a small wait ensued, but you knew it was being freshly cooked so no hassles and time for a chat. When it got served, it looked lovely and it went down a treat. As we had spree voucher, we opted to go for a sweet as well! I had the sticky toffee pudding and my friend had the Eton mess, both looked scrummy and they didn't disappoint. Left feeling full but not overly stuffed and will definitely be back. The service was spot on as well.

I came here with friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food was great... Especially loved the haggis Bon bons with whiskey sauce. Would definitely come again.

3 of us went for dinner and we're not disappointed! 5 yr old son was well fed and watered and the staff were really good with him. Our starters and mains were also top quality, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!!

met here for a nurses reunion, had originally booked a private room for 20 but alas our reunion numbers dwindled to 6. but despite booking a private room we were allowed to cancel at no extra cost and were seated in the restaurant, which was quiet, not too quiet, food was great, new chef since I was here last ( about a year + ago) and what a difference.... Prices were great and so much variety and able to ask for no onions, so cooking was Fresh and to order,( not like other places that only reheat boil in the bag meals)...and we enjoyed our Mini reunion and plan to have the private room next time and more folk.... Thanks Highland staff for making us welcome and great service, recommend to any others..

Recently went to The Saddlery restaurant at the Highland Hotel for dinner seeing as they were in the Spree book. Was very impressed with the food. Presentation was on point but more importantly the food was delicious. We had the paella and the asian duck salad. Highly recommend the duck. Restaurant was quiet so service was good. Very reasonable prices even without a Spree voucher. Enjoyed the food so much we went back on the Friday night to take advantage of the Friday Night Steak Deal For Two. 2 steaks, sauce and 2 glasses of wine for £25. They even let us substitute the wine for 2 pints of lager. Top marks. I will be back.

A group of us visited here on a weekend. The service was very good considering there were 10 of us. All of our meals arrived at the same time. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection; the best I've had. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning again soon.

We visited this restaurant with friend from America, the party was over 20. The staff were first class and most of the meals were served together. Not a easy task for that amount of people. Slight problem with a steak not cooked to order but this was sorted.

I last visited this restaurant many years ago and was always happy with it. I checked the menu online before going so was disappointed to find that it was a different menu that we were given. Apart from sandwiches and pizzas it is just the evening dinner menu which is a bit pricey for lunch time. However we ordered our food and it was very nice, we didn't have long to wait but then again we were the only people in the restaurant. Nice surroundings and friendly staff, just a pity its not the menu they advertise on their website

Two couples were having a get together to catch up and it was a good choice as when we walked in at 7.30pm there was only 1 diner in the restaurant and he finished before our chuckles, as we went down memory lane, could annoy him, we were joined later by another couple of diners but they were well away from us so hopefully not disturbed. All four of us decided on just a main course, mine was chicken with bacon and mushrooms topped with cheese, I chose dijon mash and veg for my sides, my husband chose the haddock with beans and chips, our friends chose scampi and the hock risotto special and although we didn't all managed to finish our meals they were all enjoyed. After a wee break a sticky toffee pudding and a knickerbocker glory for dessert, which I couldn't finish, left us full. With the drinks, a couple of beers, cokes and a bottle of merlot with 2 glasses of merlot more the bill came to just over £100. Don't think I've seen the place so empty and don't know why and would certainly go back.

A large group of us met here for dinner, drinks and the football. Our order came out wrong, which happens, but instead of any apology offered, the wrong orders were snatched away from us with nothing said. Those with correct orders had finished their meals before the wrong orders were replaced... when they finally were, the plates were thrown down in front of them and the waiter walked away, nothing said nor any apology offered. Very poor. When we told someone else upon ordering the bill, nothing was said again. Won't be back!

Invited to lunch (29/6) by the Ladies who used to run the P&J shop on Union Street, Aberdeen as my late Mum was a regular till unfortunately it was closed down. It was so nice to catch up with them and the lunch was excellent, the restaurant lunch menu was extensive from snacks to full meals and we didn't have to wait long for our meals to be served, good value too. We were lucky to have the restaurant to ourselves (think there were 14 of us) but feel they would have handled it well even if they were busy.

We were looking for a good spot to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary and after hearing good things about The Esslemont we thought to give it a try. Its central location is perfect for anyone travelling in or out of the city with local parking and transport options nearby, it's perfect. Big shoutout to Simon who made us feel at home, showing us to our table, explaining the menu and serving us some nozeco to celebrate! We made sure it was a Sunday as everyone was looking forward to trying their very special roasts. We did find the prices on the menu to be quite high end but due to the location and nature of the restaurant you would expect a great food experience. Unfortunately we found the Sunday roast to be quite average with chicken served on the bone rather than sliced and with one member of our party only getting one slice of beef as they had run out. It's a very expensive roast for what it is and didn't feel like it was very value for money, although it might change depending on how busy of a day it has been. I was also excited about trying the creme brûlée but it is a "summer" menu item unfortunately, so we had to opt for a brownie or the sticky toffee pudding instead. It all tasted good, just not worth the price tag with the size of it. The Esslemont all in all was good with food being served fresh and hot, the atmosphere was really good with staff being really friendly and its location being an ideal spot for a special occasion in Aberdeen!

Popped in for a quick bite while shopping. Usually looks busy when I've passed, but quieter today, so pick of the tables. Quickly brought menus and specials mentioned. Partner opted for soup of the day and an ultimate cheese toasties, while I settled on the fishcakes (daily special) and fries. Soup was tasty and came with some toasted roll. Ultimate toastie was loaded with cheese in chunky loaf and got the seal of approval Fishcakes were also very good. Worth a visit.
