Bistro Verde in Aberdeen City

Nice experience on our first day in Aberdeen. Menu was different vs. what was listed on Google, so although the hot seafood platter I was considering was no longer on offer, we found nice fish and seafood alternatives. Have especially liked the Cullen skink (a first try for me) and the Jamaican mussels (should have taken them as main rather than starter). Good sauvignon blanc to pair with also. Would definitely come back.

Wow, wow, wow!!!!! The best seafood in Scotland. Really, really worth to visit !!!! Food is great, looking like 5stars Michelin!!!! We will be back, every time when visiting Aberdeen. Amazing service! THANK YOU!!!

Been twice over two years whilst on work travel. Best seafood ever.

It's a bit pricy but the food was really worth it. Every course tasted amazing. The service was very friendly and the ambient was welcoming and not too posh. We really enjoyed our stay and absolutely recommend this restaurant!

This is such a good seafood restaurant to go to when in Aberdeen! I wanted to have a little bit of everything so I got the special of today which was the seafood and shellfish linguine. The dish was a big enough portion to fill me up and it was very tasty! The decoration in the restaurant was also amazing! It was very costal and friendly. I went around 12 pm on a Thursday and there was plenty of seating.

Never pass this restaurant. Looks a bit shabby from the outside but what a food and service.

Just arrived in Aberdeen for an evening and chose to give to Bistro Verde. The food is top quality, whether fish or seafood from the North Sea, the products are fresh and tasty. Aiste's service was more than perfect with a big smile and very professional. I recommend this restaurant 😀😀😀😀

When we arrived, we received a warm welcome by the owner. It was quiet but it was a Monday evening in February. The menu was varied and there were specials on the board. We started with oysters which were so fresh and some of the best we have eaten. I then had mussels and my husband had Cullen Skink. Both were served with lovely fresh bread and were very tasty. I had the bouillabaisse for main and my husband had sea bass. It was the nicest bouillabaisse I have had, full of seafood and samphire. One of the best meals we have had in some time. We would definitely recommend!

We travelled up from the central belt to meet up with daughter, son in law and two granddaughters (14 yrs and 12 yrs) to have lunch in this little boutique restaurant on The Green. The table was booked for 2.pm. When we arrived the venue was heaving - though we could see our reserved table. All other tables were taken. And before I say anything else this little restaurant was very busy throughout our stay. The menu was fantastic. For starters- two had scallops with a little salad and amongst other ingredients there was a puréed baby corn swirled around plate. Very tasty. One had mussels and one other had Cullen Skink. As neither myself nor one of the granddaughters wanted a starter we had a bit of a treat getting a wee taste from everyone else. Mains were as follows: three of us had the most delicious seafood and shellfish linguine - with a lovely sauce and tasty little crusty topping. One had pan- seared sea bass and two had fish goujons with truffle and cheese fries and the rest. All plates were cleared. Desserts consisted of Bailey,s crème brûlée for two, lemon curd cheesecake for two and Alfrego icecream. For all of us - this was our very first visit to this venue - and we were all absolutely delighted with everything from start to finish. The Aberdeen gang will definitely be back - before we get the chance to come north again - and no doubt will be waxing eloquently to their friends about it. The staff were wonderful. Every single one of them. Friendly, welcoming, in no way pushy. They didn’t need to be. The food spoke for them - and the busyness of the place. I’m only sorry I didn’t get their names (I usually do) but if they read this they will know who they are - and they will know who we are. Thank you so much Bistro Verde for giving us a very enjoyable afternoon

I was not sure what to expect from this place... My partner insisted that we try it, and I was really surprised by the food and ambience. The staff are very kind and attentive with the clients. Sea food and fish, they're not always my cup of tea but the food was AMAZING, the perfect balance. I had the mussels and the linguine sea food pasta.

Came in with no expectations and I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food. Mussels were cleaned good, no sand. And the hake portion of fish was very nice. Recommend the place for seafood dishes, they don’t have many, but the ones they have are done well.

The food and service were simply lovely. However, the music they played completely ruined the vibe. Guys, don’t be stingy and not pay a PRS Music licence. Having to endure the relentless cheesy saxophone covers of every pop song from 1968-1990 is quite frankly a horrendous audio experience, especially at that high volume level. There’s only so much a man can take whilst chowing down on delicious jerk mussels and baby Squid. Ambience is everything guys. You need it to match the quality of the food you’re serving. Invest. I’ll be back again, hopefully not with earplugs !

Had a wonderful bouillabaisse this evening, completely hit the spot, together with scallops for the starter. This is a hidden gem - but if you like seafood, you should make the effort to try it out

Had the hot seafood plate and really enjoyed it. -the mussels where brilliant and nice bread :-) Had a "local" Brewdog lager, was fine but nothing special. Left, perhaps not hungry, but definitely not full; but then I knew that when I ordered a seafood plate...

Excellent value for Aberdeen Restaurant Week

Guy was by himself serving on black Friday so things were slower than expected. Still fantastic fish, it's NOT a meat place that's for sure- duck was not the best.

Was looking for a quiet seafood place near my hotel and found this gem. Very quiet on a Monday night but a really nice place to relax. The mussels were enormous, reasonably priced compared with the many chain outlets around and service was very quick. This will be my go-to spot for the rest of the week and I'll just work my way through the menu!

Was here on Friday night for my Wife’s birthday. Staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. The food was so tasty. If you like sea-food this is a restaurant for you, though they have other options too.

Had walked past this restaurant the previous evening and decided to try it for Sunday lunch. As a solitary diner, I felt very comfortable eating here and was treated with great kindness and helped with what to order. Both starter and main were sublime, perfectly hot and fresh - a good choice for lunch and good value for such quality

Lovely little restaurant in the old town of Aberdeen. The Cullen Skink was outstanding, so was the Bouillabaisse. Fresh as fresh can be. Nice deserts too. All in all happy with the experience. Comes with a recommendation.

The food is very tasty and great but the quantity is so minimal. If you are looking to get satisfied after a long journey like mine please eat somewhere else or you need to do 2xstarters haha etc. Joust know it’s small portion but delicious!!!👌

Nice and welcoming place but so-so food. The Cullen Skink was watered down, not good, liquid with almost butter, certainly not like the one in the photos here (which in fact are from years ago) or like the classic recipe, creamy... In other places I have had the classic Cullen Skink so I know how it has to be done.

If you love sea food, then you have to try this place. If you dont, then there are options for you also. Lunch menu deal is value for money. Recommend the mussels with chorizo. Seafood linguine amd the brulee for desert.

I had scallops for starter and the Scottish lobster as a main. Both dishes were ABSOLUTELY delicious!! Thia place is a full 5-Star!

Excellent restaurant and very warm welcome. We had a good chat with the person who served us and it was really pleasant. We were looking for a seafood restaurant and we were served! Very good oysters as a starter, with a little vinegary shallot sauce, a delicious seafood chowder with tender leeks and smoked haddock (that was my favorite), and very good land and sea scallops. As a main course, the bouillabaisse was excellent and ultra filling! The dish with the sea bass was very good and refined. The wines offered to go with starters and main courses were also perfect. We finished the meal with a succulent crème brûlée… I really recommend this restaurant as much for the kindness of the host who received us as for the cuisine of the chefs! Go there with your eyes closed! And thank you again !

I have been in Aberdeen for 4 years now, and this is the best food I have had. I emailed Bistro Verde in the morning and they answered immediately and booked a table for us exactly as we asked. If you prefer not crowded places, this one is for you. We enjoyed every single bite of everything we ordered! I usually get disappointed when I order fish because it always turns out to be small portions (gourmet), or not tasty. Bistro Verde changed my bad experience. The fish and seafood dishes we ordered were a perfect combination of a good portion and a gourmet type of food! The people were the friendliest! Not to mention the well-priced perfect dessert that followed. Fully recommend Bistro Verde for a nice date out for two.

Was given a last minute night off work and decided to go for some food at a place I've been eyeing up for a while! I can tell you it surpassed my expectations! No nonsense well cooked seafood served in a quirky, yet, warm and comfortable environment! I had the scallops to start. I would have loved a wee bit more pancetta action on the plate but I think thats a personal preference! My friend had the Cullen skink! 🤤🤤 What a bowl of soup that was!!!!! We both had the sea bass! Great! Just great! Super crispy, well seasoned skin and just a delight to eat! I would have loved a bit more samphire on my plate, but that's just me! It was a quiet night in the restaurant, although I think that was across the board for industry tonight! I noted the manager preparing a table for a couple of older customers with poor mobility well in advance! I'm assuming they were regulars, but a very attentive none the less! Would definitely recommend and I will be back again!!!

Great restaurant, with a good selection of fish and seafood. I had the sea bass and the mussels and both tasted great. The two course lunch menu is £20 and a bargain (especially if one comes from London)!

Beautiful restaurant with amazing food in a lovely setting on the Green. The Cullen skink was the best I’ve had and the trout was lovely - great portion sizes too. Every member of our party was blown away by the food (and the service!). Our waiter Harrison was particularly attentive and made our evening. A lovely restaurant without being pretentious. We came here for a last minute change of plan birthday celebration. This was the first time we had been here and came here as a family of three with a four year old boy. I personally though the food was brilliant. My husband and I both had scallops and a steak each. I thought the steak was slightly overcooked however not enough to complain to the staff they catered for my son with fresh fish and chips which looked amazing. We had a three course meal with coffee. I thought it was a shame that it wasn't busier. It honestly should be. Thought the food and service was excellent 👌

Sweet and salty flavours in perfect harmony together with the texture of the black pudding and the crust of the perfectly fried scallops. Both starters left us with a peaceful mind and utterly enjoyment. The expectations for the main dishes were astronomical. The risotto were well balanced with a pronounced taste of mushrooms. The texture of the rice was on the spot. The fried sea bass was crisp outside and moist and tender inside. Sweet potatoes, citrus, sweet pies, and broccolini were enhancing the complexity. A new combination for me. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. We'll be back as soon as possible.

It’s ok. Friendly service and the food was ok. The £34 hot seafood platter from the specials menu was missing clams and crayfish, Slightly disappointing. Should have been taken off the board really. The other courses were fine. The atmosphere is nice.

Had eaten at Bistro Verde many times over past few years always fabulous seafood and service. So disappointed to discover it had changed owners . The resteraunt was very cold in fact uncomfortably so. My daughters soup had obviously been heated up in microwave . I ordered oysters and I have never seen oysters so small but at least they were fresh. We both ordered the seafood linguine and only seafood was salmon & bream no prawns etc but it was quite tasty . When I got the bill I bad been over charged for both mains but was refunded when I pointed this out. Sorry to say I can't recommend nor will return .

I can't believe the rudeness of the manager lady here. Firstly, I ordered the tiger prawns for myself(which were quite small), and on the way to my table, the waiter drops a prawn on the floor, picks it up, AND PUTS IT ON MY PLATE AGAIN, THINKING I HADN'T SEEN!!! This was then made worse by the manager lady, who treated me like an idiot when I complained to her, and even refused to swap my plate, saying "I can't tell which one fell so I can't replace it". To make matters worse, after ordering another plate since I was desperate for food, I see this young boy walk in, looking for the bathroom. After finding it and going in, the manager lady starts slamming on the door, causing a scene, screaming at the poor boy to get out. Terrible experience, needs new staff.

Having booked via email earlier in the week I was advised that our slot for supper would be a 2 hr slot. I said that I understood that given the restaurant would be busy however when we arrived at 5pm the door was still locked....

Terrible. The food was pretty much cold and had a strand of hair in it. Completely unhygienic toilets on top of that. The managers were also rude and moody. Definitely would not recommend.

The manager lady here is extremely rude and, quite frankly, made a fool of herself in front of the entire restaurant. I came in after my 3 hour bus ride from edinburgh after being in edinburgh for the entire day. Clearly tired and needing to go to the toilet, the restaurant was the first place I noticed, so I went in, no problems, but when i started to use the toilet, the manager started banging on the door, screaming that i need to leave right now and when i asked what i did wrong she refused to answer. When i came out, she demanded I leave and never come back. She was standing with a guy, clearly a worker who seemed embarrassed for her behaviour as he calmly explained they had no idea what i was doing in there. Unreasonable reaction and very disrespectful from her.

Excellent restaurant, la nourriture est fraîche, cuisinée simplement mais avec beaucoup d’originalité, de goût et de respect des produits. La service est parfait, le serveur est à la fois compétant et agréable. Une mention spéciale aux huîtres frites en panco, une pure tuerie !

Le service est top et le lieu vraiment très beau. Une soupe traditionnelle locale à la patate, oignons et haddock. Puis un mix de poissons et crustacés ! Vous allez me trouver dure car le resto est bien noté et le personnel super mais le plat signature de la maison est décevant. La sauce salée en sus des coquillages et de la salicorne ont rendu le plat trop salé même pour moi qui sale beaucoup ! En outre, un point me chagrine... Les crustacés étaient trop cuits... Quel péché de manger des crevettes et langoustines desséchées car cuites à l'excès. Bref l'entrée était superbe mais le plat très décevant ! Je pense que le restaurant est très sympa mais il faut faire attention à la cuisson des poissons.

Wir wollten Seafood in Aberdeen essen und sind auf das Bistro Verde gestoßen. Es liegt in der Nähe der Art Gallery und ist gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Ein kleines schnuckeliges Restaurant mit ca. 20 Tischen. Reservieren war nicht Pflicht, man konnte auch einfach vorbei kommen. Wir hatten per E-Mail reserviert, was total problemlos war. Vorab, wer keinen Fisch mag oder verträgt, es gab auch ein Fleischgericht. Das Seafood war SPITZE! Alles ging flott und war sowas von heiß, einfach super. Beilagen müssen extra bestellt werden, ich wurde aber auch ohne gut satt. Sehr zu empfehlen als Starter ist Skink (Fischsuppe). Preise sind nicht ganz billig, für Seafood aber völlig in Ordnung.
